:Hi Relinus, if you are interested in expanding the article I found this ↗ on Google Books. I also found another book solely about him but I have no access to the content so I added a Further reading section and included it there. Also, based on the sources I updated the name of the magazine from ''New York Christian Advocate'' to ''Christian Advocate ↗'', for which there is a Wikipedia article. :Thank you for improving the article so much, I've been thinking it might be something to eventually nominate as a Good Article as well. I'm pretty busy right now IRL but I will go through the article to improve it as much as I can.
:As for the breech loading cannons, I got that from the Edgar Allan Poe Society online bio. The bio was helpful for starting out the article but might not be a totally reliable source in general and could easily have gotten things wrong, so I'll take the mention of cannons out.
