Wikipedia and copyright
30px|link=|alt=Control copyright icon ↗ Hello S1mply.Dogmom! Your additions to :Astroturfing ↗ have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted ↗ content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain ↗ or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible ↗ copyright license. (''To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission ↗''.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright ↗ and plagiarism ↗ issues. Here are the key points:
- '''Limited quotation:''' You may only copy or translate a ''small'' portion of a source. Any direct quotations ↗ must be enclosed in double quotation mark ↗s (") and properly cited using an inline citation ↗. More information is available on the non-free content page ↗. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners ↗.
- '''Paraphrasing:''' Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information ''in your own words''. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues ↗ and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing ↗. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources ↗ as appropriate.
- '''Image use guidelines:''' In most scenarios, only freely licensed ↗ or public domain ↗ images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons ↗. - '''Copyrighted material donation:''' If ''you'' hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you ''may'' be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials ↗.

Sidley Austin ↗ edit requests
Hi! I'm reaching out because I saw that you've been doing some work on the Sidley Austin ↗ article. I posted some COI edit requests ↗ for that article back in February that are still awaiting review, so figured I'd reach out in case you have a few minutes to take a look. I welcome any feedback! Thank you. Mary Gaulke (talk) 02:28, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
:Hi @MaryGaulke! I appreciate you reaching out. I reviewed the page and sadly, I'm not very well versed in the protocols of answering an edit request. The template in your request includes a link to the list awaiting review. ↗ It does appear that are still a few more ahead of you that have waited longer but you're not terribly far from the top. My suggestion is to allow the process to play out. I know it can take a long time and that can be frustrating at times, but they will get to you when your time is up. Best of luck! S1mply.dogmom (talk) 17:38, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
::Thanks for your response! I often find that subject matter expertise is even more helpful than deep familiarity with the edit request process; it is (in my opinion) primarily a matter of evaluating whether the proposed edits are accurate and correctly cited and improve the article. I'd love any insight you have if you have time; regardless, thanks again for your time so far. Mary Gaulke (talk) 01:33, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
::@S1mply.Dogmom, I'd be happy to guide you through it or review your work if that would make you more comfortable answering the edit request, I did quite a lot of work on the COI edit queue for a while and am pretty familiar with it. The COI edit queue could always use more hands, it's perennially backlogged and people (hi!) burn out on pretty fast. I realize I'm not really selling it here, but if you're interested, here are the steps I usually follow:
::# Check the edit for any really obvious issues - very promotional language, removal of well-cited relevant content without a good justification, etc
::# Check the sources: do they actually support the claim? Are they independent (not press releases, the company's website, etc) and reliable, and if not independent are they covered by WP:ABOUTSELF ↗?
::# Check for neutrality: do these edits slant the article in favor (or against!) the subject? If they do, is this justified? Does the edit request include a good reason for removing negative content? Is positive content added WP:DUEWEIGHT ↗? Often at this stage I will do an independent search for sources to check whether the sources proposed by the COI editor match how the subject is talked about generally.
::# Does the edit actually improve the article? Sometimes an edit is totally unobjectionable from a COI perspective but just doesn't strike me as an improvement.
::Very often a request consists of multiple parts, and you can go one at a time and do not need to address any you're unsure about. Some are very easy: a common genre of edit request is "update these numbers from a few years ago to the new numbers", those are basically always just a quick source check and you're good to go. It's hard to do worse than "has been sitting unanswered for 6 months" if you have even the slightest familiarity with sourcing policy, some basic civility, and common sense! Rusalkii (talk) 19:32, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
:::How do I document what work is completed if/when I do contribute? This is very interesting to me. S1mply.dogmom (talk) 20:40, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
::::You can mark an entire edit request as answered by editing the <nowiki>{{edit COI}}</nowiki> template. It's documented at Template:Edit COI ↗. If you only answer part of an edit request, you can leave a {{done}} checkmark under just that section, or just leave a talk page message describing what you did if there's not a clear partitioning of the request into sections. You can find an example of me answering edit requests a little bit up the Sidley Austin talk page, actually.
::::Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest#Responding ↗ has some further guidance. There's also a handy script to help, User:Terasail/COI Request Tool. Rusalkii (talk) 21:14, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
:::::You're amazing! Thank you! I'll have a look and do what I can! S1mply.dogmom (talk) 21:20, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
:::::Good afternoon!
:::::I took some time to look through the COI edit request list, and I'm having a little trouble figuring out where to jump in. It looks like many of them have already been started or are a little intimidating as far as depth. For a beginner like me, are there any that you've stumbled across that you can recommend I take a look at? I am interested in jumping in, I just don't want to step on any toes if people are already digging in to one. S1mply.dogmom (talk) 17:59, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
::::::Hmm, generally it's a good idea to grab some of the newer ones, the end of the queue is always really gnarly. Fortunately, @Encoded and a couple others have been making very good progress on COI edit requests recently, but it does mean a lot of the low hanging fruit has already been picked. Let's see what I can find for you:
::::::* Talk:Rakesh Sarin ↗, adding a photo: you just need to check the license and confirm you think the photo is an improvement over whatever's currently there
::::::* Talk:JackBoys 2 ↗, you need to review the provided source and decide if you think it's good enough to add another person to the credits for this song
::::::* Talk:Adyen ↗ has some "please update this number to this number" and "please add our new CEO", you need to review the sources
::::::* Talk:Stephen Gillett ↗ is another "this thing is out of date" request where you'd need to check the source but the request itself is straightforward
::::::Rusalkii (talk) 18:29, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
:::::::Great! This is extremely helpful! Thank you! I was trying to look at the older ones and yes, this makes perfect sense! I'll have a look at these! S1mply.dogmom (talk) 19:35, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
:::::::I replied to the request for Talk:JackBoys 2 ↗. I commented that I wouldn't be able to perform the request based on the information they provided. We would need a more reliable source and wouldn't be able to alter how the names are listed. I don't know that I want to mark it answered yet though since they are working on a formal credit through their attorney. S1mply.dogmom (talk) 20:18, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
:::::::And I did make an effort to find a different resource on my own and wasn't able to locate one. S1mply.dogmom (talk) 20:18, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
::::::::Looks good to me! It's really up to you if you close it or leave it open in this kind of situation, I've seen both, but I'd close it and tell them to reopen if they get a better a source. Rusalkii (talk) 20:46, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
:::::::::Cool! Thank you for looking it over! I'll be back to pick up some others when I get the chance. This was fun! Thank you for the invite! S1mply.dogmom (talk) 17:40, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
International Justice Mission COI Edit Request 2
Thank you so much @S1mply.Dogmom for your thorough feedback, and linking the policies on Wikipedia:Weight ↗ and Wikipedia:Coatrack articles ↗. This is very helpful for improving my knowledge when making future requests.
Would it, however, be possible to reconsider inclusion of the final sentence I suggested: '''"In 2022, three senior police officers and one civilian were convicted of the murders."'''
This is because, at present, it reads as if the case is still pending following the suspects being charged, and represents a conclusion to the incident.
Thank you again for considering! GlossyCassandra (talk) 11:42, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
:I agree. I apologize for the oversight. I reworded what was there to include the conviction and added the BBC source. I didn't include the "senior" officers since that didn't appear to be supported by the source provided. S1mply.dogmom (talk) 16:23, 6 October 2025 (UTC)

Lux Capital reverted edits
Hi S1mply.Dogmom, instead of discussing with you further ↗, an anonymous editor recently reverted your updates to the Lux Capital ↗ page. Based on your changes, I had posted further suggestions ↗ for the History section. I'd appreciate your input here - would you mind taking another look? NazLux (talk) 15:48, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
:I can, but the revert was unwarranted and so I changed it back. I am not, nor have I ever been employed with Lux. I've made an attempt to discuss the matter with the anonymous user who made the accusation. I'll take a look at your request once I am more confident that the issue with this other user is resolved. I feel free to add with references but won't
Peoole like you who prefer to destroy instead of searching a aimple reference are the reason I stopped using Wikipedia. I took the dates from Wikipedia. ~2025-33672-93 ↗ (talk) 17:25, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

Salade de fruits
Hello. I saw you reverted my edit at Salade de fruits ↗. Wallonia and Wallonia Tip are two different charts per Template:Single chart ↗. I'm fixing the template parameters to point to the right chart. Thanks! MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 21:55, 30 January 2026 (UTC)

Question about reverted edit on Animal welfare and rights in China
Hello,
I noticed that my recent edit to the "Animal welfare and rights in China" article was reverted with a note that it appeared to be a test. I wanted to reach out to clarify that it was a genuine, good-faith contribution — not a test edit.
I did make several revisions in a short period while correcting formatting issues, which may have triggered that impression. Could you help me understand what specifically raised the concern? I'd like to make sure my contribution meets the required standards before resubmitting.
Thank you for your time. Pawseditor (talk) 01:48, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
:The biggest issue I noticed is that citations were not properly formatted, but instead added as external links.
:The welcome post I put on your talk page has some helpful links to help you learn the proper way of doing things. You can also ask for help at the Wikipedia:Teahouse ↗. When I first got started, I found a training game Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Adventure ↗. It is silly, but doesn't take long and teaches you really important editing tricks that will help you along the way. The most helpful thing I learned was how to add citations.
:Your sandbox is there to help you practice when you're not sure how to do something, rather than do it in multiple edits to fix errors on the article itself - which can appear disruptive and gain the attention of other editors who may question your motives.
:I hope this helps!
:Thank you for coming to me. Happy editing! S1mply.dogmom (talk) 19:17, 27 May 2026 (UTC)

:Your point is irrelevant. Additions to articles must be cited to reliable sources. I have no opinion on the material one way or the other. S1mply.dogmom (talk) 22:39, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
::Nope. Not irrelevant. But I won't dive into the archives. Anyway: history will judge what's going on here at WP, and harshly so. In the meantime this ↗ here FYI. ~2026-31952-79 ↗ (talk) 22:59, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
