Extended confirmed restrictions

Hello,

Please be aware that all articles related to politics, ethnic relations, and conflicts involving Armenia ↗, Azerbaijan ↗, or both—broadly construed and explicitly including the Armenian genocide ↗—are subject to an extended confirmed restriction ↗. KhndzorUtogh (talk) 21:27, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

:Thank you for notifying me, but where does this policy oblige you to revert my edits as if I'm a pest? Here ↗ I read ''{{tq| Enforcement of the restriction on articles primarily in the topic area is preferably done with extended confirmed protection, but it's not required (other enforcement methods are outlined in the policy). As always, review the policy before enforcing it.}}'' I control-F'ed the string "revert" and it returned 0 results. What exactly prompted you to apply this rule this harshly? Shoshin000 (talk) 07:41, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
:Such a harsh application of this rule is unnecessary, I am open to dialogue. On the other hand, are you? Shoshin000 (talk) 07:44, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

:Hi, I've read WP:SPOILER ↗ and I understood that it is acceptable to put the ending in a separate section to prevent spoilers. Shoshin000 (talk) 08:32, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
::The article just says that sections like "Plot" or "Ending" imply spoilers, not that they should have a spoiler warning. I also just don't see the point in having a separate section for such a short summary. Harryhenry1 (talk) 10:07, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
:::You gotta understand: I was frustrated by the final sentence spoiling the whole thing :) Shoshin000 (talk) 11:00, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
::::I understand feeling frustrated (since the summary's so short it's hard to not look at it) but in the future it's better to not do that kind of editing out of frustration. Harryhenry1 (talk) 11:02, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
:::::Yet I haven't violated the guidelines afaik? Shoshin000 (talk) 11:03, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
::::::You did, since the Spoiler article specifically says not to add a spoiler warning notice like your edit did. Harryhenry1 (talk) 11:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to '''the Arab–Israeli conflict ↗''', a topic designated as '''contentious ↗'''. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and <em>does <strong>not</strong> imply that there are any issues with your editing</em>.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit <strong>carefully</strong> and <strong>constructively</strong>, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

<p>Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days ↗, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.</p><p>Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics ''procedures'' you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard ↗ or you may learn more about this contentious topic here ↗. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{tl|Ctopics/aware}} template. </p>}}<!-- Derived from Template:Contentious topics/alert/first --> Selfstudier (talk) 10:27, 20 August 2024 (UTC)

Original Research

Hi, in your edit on Sickle cell disease ↗ you said:

{{Blockquote|text=@ Robertpedley: to be more precise. From what I've searched, In the Middle East, the prevalence is very low in places like Lebanon or Syria, but much higher in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the Basra region in Iraq etc. In Europe, the only region I've found in which it is particularly common among the native population is Sicily. Everywhere else (including Greece etc) it primarily affects people of foreign origin (typically sub-saharan African)}}

Please can you check the following guidelines:

# Wikipedia:No original research ↗ - it appears that you are performing your own research using primary sources ↗, rather than summarising scientific consensus in secondary source ↗<nowiki/>s
# Wikipedia:MEDDATE ↗ - sources in medicine related articles should be as up-to-date as possible.

Here are a few good secondary sources for risk factors - American Society for Hematology,<ref>{{Cite web |title=Sickle Cell Disease |url=https://www.hematology.org/education/patients/anemia/sickle-cell-disease |access-date=2025-05-28 |website=American Society for Hematology |language=en}}</ref> Johns Hopkins Medicine<ref>{{Cite web |title=Sickle Cell Disease |url=https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/sickle-cell-disease |website=Johns Hopkins Medicine}}</ref>, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<ref>{{Cite web |last= |date=2024-05-22 |title=Data and Statistics on Sickle Cell Disease |url=https://www.cdc.gov/sickle-cell/data/index.html |access-date=2025-05-28 |website=Centers for Disease Control and Prevention |language=en-us}}</ref>

Please revise your edit, taking into account the above guidelines.

Thank you. Bob (talk) 20:43, 28 May 2025 (UTC) Bob (talk) 20:43, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
