Alcoa article

Thank you for your recent edit to Alcoa ↗, which I do appreciate, even though I reverted it :)

My impression is that the lead section of the article (the paragraphs before the first heading) is not written in an encyclopedic style. A second example is the use of "brainchild" in the first sentence of the second paragraph, which does not appear to me to be appropriate for an encyclopaedical article.

I might be wrong, and maybe just improving a few sentences in the first few paragraphs will be sufficient to convey a neutral point of of view (see Wikipedia:Neutral point of view ↗). I would be happy to collaborate in such an effort. My Gussie (talk) 16:58, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

Sounds like you are right, and also sounds like you are the right person to fix it!--Simxaraba (talk) 15:40, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

Ibrahim al-Arjani ↗ moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Ibrahim al-Arjani ↗. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because '''it needs more sources to establish notability'''.
I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page ↗.
When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 11:08, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

I did more work as you suggested (Actually, I wasn't finished, I was just too tired to continue) and moved the page back. Hope you find it better now.--Simxaraba (talk) 15:42, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

DCWC closing update

The 2024 Developing Countries WikiContest ↗ has come to a close! After a thrilling finish to the event with a slew of submissions on the final day, we have our winners. With 608 points, <span class="nowrap">30px|Bronze Belt Buckle – 3rd place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant|Thebiguglyalien}} comes in third with his series of Kiribati and Botswanan submissions; <span class="nowrap">30px|Silver Belt Buckle – 2nd place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant|BeanieFan11}} flies into second place at the last second with 771 points after a string of good articles about sportspersons; and after leading for much of contest's three months, <span class="nowrap">30px|Gold Belt Buckle – 1st place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant|Generalissima}} finishes with a whopping 798 points to take home the Gold Belt Buckle ↗. Congratulations to our winners!

In addition to his spot in the top three, {{DCWC participant|BeanieFan11}} also wins the special awards for submitting under the most countries (44 countries) and for writing the most articles about women (15 Did you know? nominations)! {{DCWC participant|Magentic Manifestations}}, after making 16 submissions under the Indian flag—15 of them good articles—receives the awards for most submissions for a single country and most featured or good articles promoted. For their submission of one FAC review, five FLC reviews, and 20 GAN reviews, {{DCWC participant|Simongraham}} wins for most article reviews.

The results of the contest have far exceeded any expectations the coordinators had for it at the beginning: among the submissions to the event were 3 FAs, 10 FLs, 88 GAs, dozens of article reviews of every kind, and more Did you know? submissions than we can count! Regardless of your level of participation, every contestant can be proud to have contributed towards a major step in countering the systemic bias on Wikipedia ↗. Every year, millions of readers and editors around the globe use Wikipedia to educate themselves and communicate with others about parts of the world that often receive less attention than they deserve. Thank you for participating with us in the contest and contributing to this effort. The DCWC will return next year and we look forward to seeing you contribute again! However, before that...

Re: Hawaii series by Georgia O’Keeffe

:''No need for all this detail''

I agree that concerns have been expressed by other editors about the excessive detail and I acknowledge that I have personally asked for examples that I can fix. However, it is somewhat ironic that you decided to remove, perhaps, one of the most significant details about Georgia O’Keeffe, namely the origin story of how she developed her signature style, the close-up focus on large, zoomed-in images of flowers and other objects. The fact that you deleted one of the most significant aspects of her entire artistic approach tells me that you didn’t really understand the material you removed. I will probably add that bit back and try to cut other material that isn’t as important, but I would invite you to perhaps think twice about what you consider important in the future. Viriditas (talk) 08:34, 17 January 2025 (UTC)

:Update: I've restored the 361 byte detail you removed, as it was essential to understanding the origin of her style. However, as a necessary compromise, I've trimmed 778 bytes of text compared to the 361 bytes you initially removed. Viriditas (talk) 00:32, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
::Good job. The article could use more of this type of editing. At the moment, it sounds more like a unedited book than an encyclopedia article.--Simxaraba (talk) 07:16, 24 January 2025 (UTC)

University of Jerusalem

Hi, regarding these edits https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hebrew_University_of_Jerusalem&diff=prev&oldid=1278066799 ↗ and https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hebrew_University_of_Jerusalem&diff=prev&oldid=1278066835 ↗, the issue isn’t just the number of citations, but how they are used. Many sources are primary or not well integrated, which affects the article's reliability and neutrality. Having 50 citations doesn’t necessarily mean the article meets Wikipedia’s quality standards. If you think the sourcing is sufficient, I recommend comparing this article to those of other well-known universities like Harvard or Oxford. They rely on high-quality secondary sources, with all parameters properly cited, instead of just gathering citations.
Alos the tags are meant to highlight these issues for readers and editors who want to address them, not to question the university's notability. Lililolol (talk) 21:59, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
: About Mount Scopus Hospital, its mention feels out of place here, and much of the Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare section falls under WP:DETAIL ↗ and WP:INDISCRIMINATE ↗. It could be better written, and most paragraphs lack sources. That is why I added the "more citations needed" template. Lililolol (talk) 22:05, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion ↗ nomination of :Canopy (app) ↗

A tag has been placed on :Canopy (app) ↗ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion ↗, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Canopy (app) ↗. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by visiting the page ↗ and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the {{Querylink|Special:Log|qs=type=delete&page=Canopy+%28app%29|deleting administrator}}, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here ↗. <!-- Template:Db-repost-notice --><!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> '''<span style="color:#536895;">Onel</span><span style="color:#ffb300;">5969</span>''' <i style="color:blue">TT me</i> 14:09, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

After three months of stiff competition at the top of the leaderboard, we have our winners. <span class="nowrap">30px|Bronze Belt Buckle – 3rd place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant/2025|Vigilantcosmicpenguin}}, continuing his work on covering abortion in Africa ↗, comes in third with 692 points. <span class="nowrap">30px|Silver Belt Buckle – 2nd place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}} comes in second with 763 points, largely from a slew of good articles about jumping spider ↗s. And returning to the podium for the second year in a row, <span class="nowrap">30px|Gold Belt Buckle – 1st place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} takes the Gold Belt Buckle with a mind-boggling 946 points from his series of articles on sportpersons. Congratulations to our winners!

Amazingly, the award for the most countries covered goes to both {{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} and {{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}}, who each submitted articles under 30 flags! {{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} also wins for writing the most quality articles (16 good articles). For submitting 16 articles related to El Salvador, {{DCWC participant/2025|PizzaKing13}} wins the award for most submissions under one country. The award for most submissions related to women goes to both {{DCWC participant/2025|Spookyaki}} (7 biographies about women) and {{DCWC participant/2025|Vigilantcosmicpenguin}} (21 related articles). And for the second year, {{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}} wins for the most reviews, having submitted 21!

Among the participants' contributions were 2 FAs, 5 FLs, 124 GAs, and an uncounted number of DYKs, ITNs, and reviews of every kind! The DCWC will return next year, and we look forward to seeing you contribute again! However, before that...

Disambiguation link notification for June 9

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Idan Segev ↗, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kabri ↗ was added.

(Opt-out instructions.) --DPL bot (talk) 22:01, 9 June 2026 (UTC)

Shimon Slavin ↗

I'll be blunt here, and no offense: do you have a conflict of interest with the subject of the article? The page has a long history of being edited by UPEditors ↗, in fact the entirety of the article is basically a result of UPE, with barely any organic editing from uninvolved editors. Most of the references going either to commercial websites or original research papers by the subject.

I am curious of your removal of almost all the maintenance templates from the article, even including the ''too technical'' one. Do you think the article is actually just fine? 海盐沙冰 / aka irisChronomia / Talk 16:37, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

:@IrisChronomia I Actually I think there is still room for improvement but I have done some editing to make it more organized and comprehensible. I have edited many articles about scientists, professors, authors and business people, and don't understand why their biographies should be defaced with all kinds of negative tags. if you think improvement is necessary, you should go and do some research to fix it, which is what I have done and will continue to do. Isn't that what Wikipedia is all about? Aniyahol (talk) 17:04, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
::Oops. Sorry, I've just come back from defacing that article.
::My sincere apologies for stepping on your hard work... and thank you, for being one of the organic contributors to that article. 海盐沙冰 / aka irisChronomia / Talk 17:15, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
::I'm being extremely aggressive on that ''specific'' article because I think the content covered inside it is inherently medical, and should since be held to WP:MEDRS ↗ standards. I'm concerned with the possibility of people coming to Wikipedia looking for information on a leader of some commercial cancer treatment clinic, and getting mostly shiny praises and (lay people-incomprehensible) technical jargons. That possibility horrifies me in the sense that I've always perceived Wikipedia as public service and for the public's wellbeing. I think while BLPs are in general focusing on ''individual'', some commercial healthcare companies are advertising Slavin as their star physician; this makes it plausible that, I worry, that readers may come into this article for the MEDRS-related information, and thinking that the content is held up to the stringent quality standard of Wikipedia medicine-related articles, while in fact the text is benchmarked against BLP standards. 海盐沙冰 / aka irisChronomia / Talk 17:19, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
::Sorry, what I meant to say is that I often copyedit biography articles like this (not this specific one) and wonder at all the excessive tagging. I agree that many of these articles need work but my approach is to do the reorganizing and copyediting myself, if I see there is a need for it, rather than add tags and leave the job to someone else. Tagging is the easy way out... Aniyahol (talk) 20:35, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
:::Yeah... I get your point, and I agree with you.
:::I don't tend to use excessive tagging normally, either; most often I'll just put my thoughts down in the article's talk page. In this specific article's instance, I used tag-bombing as a way to tell the reader, "please take contents from this page with a huge grain of salt." 海盐沙冰 / aka irisChronomia / Talk 21:47, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to ''' living or recently deceased subjects of biographical content on Wikipedia articles''', a topic designated as '''''contentious ↗'''''. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and <em>does <strong>not</strong> imply that there are any issues with your editing</em>.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee ↗. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators ↗ have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit <strong>carefully and constructively</strong>, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

<p>Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics <em>procedures</em>, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard ↗ or you may learn more about this contentious topic ↗. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{tl|Ctopics/aware}} template. Managing a conflict of interest

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, Simxaraba. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about ↗ on the page :Shimon Slavin ↗, you may have a conflict of interest ↗ (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. We ask that you:

In addition, you are '''required''' by the Wikimedia Foundation ↗'s terms of use ↗ to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation for any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure ↗.

See the '''FAQ for article subjects ↗''' for more information.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting ↗ anyone or anything is not permitted. ''Do you have a conflict of interest in relation to the subject?''<!-- THE FOLLOWING CATEGORY SHOULD BE REMOVED IF THE USER IS BLOCKED, OR IT IS DECIDED THAT THIS USER DOES NOT HAVE A COI, OR THIS TEMPLATE HAS BEEN IN PLACE FOR A WHILE WITH NO ACTION. -->{{#ifexpr: ({{#time: U | now}} - 1781780008) < 13150000 | {{PAGENAME}} ↗ | }}<!-- Template:uw-coi --> 海盐沙冰 / aka irisChronomia / Talk 10:53, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

:Also, before you edit the article again, please provide your rationale for this ↗ edit; specifically, why did you remove the only reference that is critical to the subject? 海盐沙冰 / aka irisChronomia / Talk 16:56, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
:Please take a pause before you remove more maintenance tags from BLPs and NCORPs again, as you did in these articles:
:Pavilions ↗, Yael Markovich ↗, Shimon Slavin ↗, Dovi Frances ↗, Adoptive cell transfer ↗, Iovance Biothera- ↗, Organica ↗, Burkinab ↗, Insilicos ↗, and whatever templates these ↗ contributions are removing. Please do use the article talk page, and make your suggestions there, or respond with your rationale behind any of these edits here. Thank you. 海盐沙冰 / aka irisChronomia / Talk 13:15, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
