DYK for The World Is to Dig

Hi there. I wanted to leave a follow-up comment on my review ↗ as I know it can be disappointing to hear that an article you worked hard on is ineligible. This can be a tricky thing for newcomers to DYK. (I have a couple GAs that never appeared there because I couldn't figure out early on how to do the nomination.) As you continue your work of content creation, keep in mind that new Good Articles are also eligible, so The World Is to Dig will be eligible again if you bring it to good article status. As for other articles, I recommend working on them in a user WP:SANDBOX ↗ or in draftspace until you are ready to publish and submit a DYK, since otherwise the clock starts ticking once the article is in mainspace. Tools like WP:DYKCHECK ↗ can help you check whether a 5x expansion has been completed before you submit as well. Finally, you can always ask questions about the process at WT:DYK ↗. I hope this helps, and please continue to create articles and submit at DYK in the future! Dclemens1971 (talk) 05:49, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

:Why does the article need to be significantly expanded one day in the last week to be in the Did You Know? I thought that as long as it had a citation for the information and the article exists it could be in the Did You Know, so I would like to know about that rule of Did You Know. ''<span style="color:orange;">The Twists and Turns</span>'' <span style="color:green;">talk</span>|<span style="color:purple;">my edits</span> ↗ 15:24, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
::It doesn't, it has to be expanded in the week before expansion. I have to say, adding a {{tl|dykno}} icon for a 4.77x expansion was already harsh, and the current revision is currently only 51 characters off 5x compared to the last edit made more than a week after nomination ↗. I think you should reopen this {{yo|Dclemens1971}}.--<span style="background:#FF0;font-family:Rockwell Extra Bold"><u style="color:#00F">Laun</u><u style="color:#00F">chba</u><u style="color:#00F">ller</u> ↗</span> 17:53, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions&nbsp;to :Template:Did you know nominations/The World Is to Dig ↗. When you were adding content to the page, you added duplicate arguments ↗ to a template which can cause issues with how the template is rendered. In the future, please use the preview ↗ button before you save your edit; this helps you find these errors as they will display in yellow at the top of the page. Thanks.<!---Template:Uw-dupargs---> '''<span style="color:#00d5ff">Zack</span><span style="color:#007F94">mann</span>''' (Talk to me ↗/<span style="color:orange">What I been doing</span> ↗) 16:57, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @Zackmann08. I do not see anything duplicate in my template and am wondering if it's possible for me to fix it now or not. ''<span style="color:orange;">The Twists and Turns</span>'' <span style="color:green;">talk</span>|<span style="color:purple;">my edits</span> ↗ 20:57, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
::Please see Special:Diff/1344803078 ↗. If you preview the revision before that change (Special:Permalink/1344727270 ↗) you will see an error message in yellow. -- '''<span style="color:#00d5ff">Zack</span><span style="color:#007F94">mann</span>''' (<sup>Talk to me ↗</sup>/<sub><span style="color:orange">What I been doing</span> ↗</sub>) 21:03, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

::::You very clearly did not look at the links I provided... Let us try this again. Please click on THIS DIFF ↗ and see the change that I made to fix your error. Next, if you click on this link ↗ (which is previewing your original text), you will see a yellow box that says {{tq|'''Warning: Template:Did you know nominations/The World Is to Dig''' is calling Template:Smalldiv ↗ with more than one value for the "1" parameter. :::::Oh okay; I see it now. I didn't know I needed to go to the "Source" tab and then the preview of the original edit with the error since I couldn't see the error even before your edit in the visual view where you can read it. Also, I did the DYK nomination using the tool, so I wasn't working with the source of that page. I don't know how that error occurred, but thanks for fixing it. :::::::@Zackmann08, when you look through DYK nominations, you can check and make sure that if someone uses the DYK Wizard, the error doesn't always appear (since that was the tool I used) to make sure that the DYK Wizard doesn't have an issue that causes the message to happen again in other DYK nominations. Disambiguation link notification for April 8

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Danny Weinkauf ↗, a link pointing to the disambiguation page A&E ↗ was added. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. <small>(Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)</small>

Please slow down with your DYK reviews

Hi there. As I went through the list of approved nominations, I found two reviewed by you that had significant errors and oversights in the review: Template:Did you know nominations/Port of Muskogee Railroad ↗, Template:Did you know nominations/Flame graph ↗. I'm glad you are enjoying participating in DYK, but doing reviews that are inadequate and have to be undone later creates whiplash for our nominators and more work for promoters. By my observation, the usual path into DYK reviewing is by nominating 5+ hooks, at which point you begin to have the QPQ requirement, but also by which point the typical nominator has become more familiar with what goes on in a review. It's more unusual for a DYK novice to begin by reviewing other nominations. Since you've had several reviews that have had problems, I'd like to encourage you to slow down and ask for help with your next DYK review before you finalize it -- I'm happy to offer feedback, or you can ask for help from an experienced participant by posting at WT:DYK ↗. This will help you calibrate what's expected and not leave the nominator thinking a hook is good to go when it isn't. Thanks for considering this feedback. Dclemens1971 (talk) 01:02, 10 April 2026 (UTC)

:Yes, I don't really know how to do a DYK review yet and these are my first times. The next time I review a DYK nomination, I will learn about the requirements and how to do a review more before doing it. –<span style="color:orange;font-family:Corbel;"><big>''The Twists and Turns''</big></span> <span style="color:green;">talk</span>&#124;<span style="color:purple;">my edits</span> ↗ 01:06, 10 April 2026 (UTC)

Note on proposed deletions

Hi The Twists and Turns! I just wanted to make a quick note. When doing proposed deletions, please do <nowiki>{{subst:prod}}</nowiki> instead of using {{tl|proposed deletion/dated}} directly. When subst'd prod it also fills in the nominator and the timestamp at which the deletion was proposed. All the best! Casablanca 🪨(T) 20:19, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

:@Casablanca Rock, thanks for the letting me know.
:I put subst:prod into "Insert a template" but it does not appear to exist. <nowiki>{{Proposed deletion}}</nowiki> also does not exist (since it needs to be substituted) and <nowiki>{{proposed deletion/dated}}</nowiki> is also not the correct template, so what template do I exactly use to propose deletions? –<span style="color:orange;font-family:Corbel;"><big>''The Twists and Turns''</big></span> <span style="color:green;">talk</span>&#124;<span style="color:purple;">my edits</span> ↗ 20:25, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
::Hi! I am so sorry, but I do not use the visual editor, so I am actually unsure. I did not realize that it worked that way until just now! I've asked a question over at Wikipedia:Teahouse#How is a template subst'd in the visual editor? ↗ to get a further answer. I really apologize for not knowing! All the best! Casablanca 🪨(T) 20:37, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Thank you! Let's see what they say at the Teahouse. –<span style="color:orange;font-family:Corbel;"><big>''The Twists and Turns''</big></span> <span style="color:green;">talk</span>&#124;<span style="color:purple;">my edits</span> ↗ 20:38, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
::::@Casablanca Rock, I've figured it out. When I went into the source editor and typed "<nowiki>{{subst:prod}}</nowiki>", it worked in the preview that displayed the correct template. In the visual editor, it just looked like "<nowiki>{{subst:prod}}</nowiki>" and is a template when you click on it. –<span style="color:orange;font-family:Corbel;"><big>''The Twists and Turns''</big></span> <span style="color:green;">talk</span>&#124;<span style="color:purple;">my edits</span> ↗ 00:13, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::Oh awesome! It seems from the teahouse thread itself it's unclear if there's actually a proper way to do it in Visual Editor. Thank you! Casablanca 🪨(T) 17:31, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

Speedy deletion ↗ nomination of :Pikuniku 2 ↗

48px|left|alt=|link= ↗

A tag has been placed on :Pikuniku 2 ↗ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗, because it is a redirect from the article namespace ↗ to a different namespace ↗ except the Category ↗, Template ↗, Wikipedia ↗, Help ↗, or Portal ↗ namespaces.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by visiting the page ↗ and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines ↗. <!-- Template:Db-rediruser-notice --> Casablanca 🪨(T) 17:41, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
