Birthplaces
Hello, thank you for your expansions to those two-sentence stubs on drafted players. They are greatly appreciated. However, please add a reliable source when adding a birthplace for these players. For example, where did you get Evan Beerntsen ↗'s birthplace? His The Beast profile ↗ doesn't say anything, nor does his Ravens bio ↗, and his Pro Football Reference bio ↗ says Green Bay. JTtheOG (talk) 20:43, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
:Another one I just checked, Keyshawn James-Newby ↗, was born in Idaho, not Montana. [https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/interactive/the-beast-2026/player/keyshawn-james-newby-new-mexico-edge-rusher/ ] JTtheOG (talk) 20:48, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
::These are both sourced from ESPN. I've noticed that many player's birthplaces seem to conflict among sources so I just went with the one I could find at that time. Neither of these are displayed if you click on a link in ESPN, probably because it does not list a birthdate, but they are displayed in the short description if you search it up and are in the source code. I should've added sources but nevertheless.
::Thisiswhywecanthavenicethingfr (talk) 20:58, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
:::I don't think it's common for reliable sources to differ on birthplaces. The problem is that people sometimes assume that hometown means the same thing as birthplace, muddying the waters. The ESPN database usually gives the hometown or where they went to HS as their "birthplace", which is why it's not a reliable source for birthplace. PFR, PFA and The Beast are preferable. Sometimes you'll find it in newspaper articles, but it has to explicitly say they were born there, not "native of" or "hails from" or anything like that. Please see this discussion ↗. Cheers, JTtheOG (talk) 21:19, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
Wydett Williams ↗ moved to draftspace
Thanks for your contributions to Wydett Williams ↗. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because '''it needs more sources to establish notability'''.
I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page ↗.
When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. ms ↗k 16:14, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
