Hi VidanaliK. After reviewing your request, I have <span class="plainlinks">enabled ↗</span> '''rollback ↗''' on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle ↗ or Ultraviolet ↗. It just adds a ''[rollback]'' button next to a page's latest live revision. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
- Rollback should be used to revert <em>clear and unambiguous cases</em> of vandalism {{emu|only}}. <em>Never</em> use rollback to revert good faith edits. For more information about when rollback is appropriate, see {{section link|Wikipedia:Rollback|When to use rollback}}.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war ↗, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the permission will be revoked.
- Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, <strong>''ask!''</strong>
Question from Cannolian (18:17, 29 March 2026)
<!-- User:DoNotArchiveUntil 02:20, 12 January 2036 (UTC) -->{{User:ClueBot III/DoNotArchiveUntil|2083717200}}
Hello VidanaliK! I'm sorry if the previous message got cut off. I was wondering what you recommend for finding sources on things, especially for smaller subjects like a niche philospher. Thank you! --Cannolian (talk) 18:17, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
:Hello @Cannolian! There are a few ways I would reccomend:
:1. Use Google. Google, not DuckDuckGo, not Ecosia (those don't let you filter your results as easily). Put the entire name of the philosopher in quotes (" "). Then add at the end some results that you don't want to include, with a minus sign before them. For example, -reddit -instagram -facebook will have you not include results from those sites, and -ai will remove AI-generated results. Don't go crazy on that, only do that on the unreliable sites that you get way too much on the first pass. Then, if you find some sources you'd like to use, first look for the source on WP:RSP ↗ to see if it's reliable. If it's not, search for its Wikipedia article to see if it meets the criteria for being a reliable source (i.e. an editing team, a reputation for fact-checking and neutrality, etc.); or you can see if it's used as a source in other Wikipedia articles. If either of those lead you to the conclusion that it's a reliable source, congrats! You have a new source.
:2. A much simpler solution is to use Google Scholar, which gives you scholarly sources. That way you don't have to go to town on the -reddit -instagram -facebook -tiktok -ai etc. stuff.
:3. If either of those lead you to a book you don't have access to, there are a few ways you can get it: one is ordering it from Amazon, but this costs money; the other two options that are free include getting it from your local library; many libraries have a system where you can order it from a different library system; it usually takes weeks to months, so your third and probably best option is to request it from someone at the Resource Request ↗ system. (You could also try searching the Wikipedia Library, but since you're a newer editor you have to wait on that until you become extended confirmed)
:Happy editing! <span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;font-size:14px;color:#800080;">VidanaliK</span> (<span style="color:green">talk to me</span>) (<span style="color:blue">contributions</span> ↗) 22:25, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
::I appreciate the help and will definitely use this. I do have access to Penn State libraries which also grants me access to other college libraries. Though correct me if I’m wrong but I can’t use an article that’s completely locked behind academia as that’s private correct? I wish to make sure! Cannolian (talk) 23:28, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
:::@Cannolian What do you mean "locked behind academia?" <span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;font-size:14px;color:#800080;">VidanaliK</span> (<span style="color:green">talk to me</span>) (<span style="color:blue">contributions</span> ↗) 23:32, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
::::Sorry, I know there’s a rule on public sources so I was wondering if those would count as a non-public source since non-college and non-alumini can’t access without paying a fee. Cannolian (talk) 23:46, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
:::::@Cannolian I think paying a fee still counts as public; the New York Times requires a subscription for several articles but is one of Wikipedia's most critical and used sources. And don't get me started on all the journal articles. I think private would be like private military records that can't be accessed by anyone else, period. <span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;font-size:14px;color:#800080;">VidanaliK</span> (<span style="color:green">talk to me</span>) (<span style="color:blue">contributions</span> ↗) 23:48, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from SomeRandomPersonUDontKnow (20:33, 10 April 2026)
<!-- User:DoNotArchiveUntil 02:20, 12 January 2036 (UTC) -->{{User:ClueBot III/DoNotArchiveUntil|2083717200}}
Hello! I'm somewhat new to Wikipedia and have just started editing, so I don't know very much yet. I'm guessing this is a stupid question with an easy solution, but it said that you're my assigned mentor and to ask you questions about editing, so I'm sorry if I'm wasting your time. when you search for Ranboo (a streamer), it redirects to Tommyinnit (also a streamer, but not Ranboo) I have written the problem on the Tommyinnit talk page, but there's been no response, so I'm asking how to do it myself. Thanks!
SomeRandomPersonUDontKnow (talk) 20:33, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
:@SomeRandomPersonUDontKnow OK, I see the problem here. Go to this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ranboo&redirect=no so that it will take you to the actual page "Ranboo" without redirecting you to Tommyinit. Now, in your own sandbox, write a Wikipedia page about Ranboo; start with just a stub, so like basic information, and make sure to cite at least 3-4 reliable sources. Then, you can copy and paste your sandbox Ranboo article into the source editor for the Ranboo page after deleting all the content there (which just consists of a redirect). If people revert your edit, ''that's'' when you can discuss or ask why. Happy editing! <span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;font-size:14px;color:#800080;">VidanaliK</span> (<span style="color:green">talk to me</span>) (<span style="color:blue">contributions</span> ↗) 15:09, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks! SomeRandomPersonUDontKnow (talk) 17:54, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
::Also, how do I add a photo to a page? I'm confused on how you are supposed to upload it from your device. (p.s. thanks for all the help) SomeRandomPersonUDontKnow (talk) 18:10, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
:::@SomeRandomPersonUDontKnow If the image is free (i.e. either you made it, or it is available online under a Creative Commons license ↗), you can upload it to Wikimedia Commons ↗ using the Upload Wizard. If not, you can upload it straight to Wikipedia under a fair use rationale: see the non-free image use policy ↗, using the tab "Upload File" from the Main Page on the bottom left.
:::From there, you can use a simple bluelink linking to the file page (which will start with "File:") if you are adding it to a page, then add <code>|thumb|yourcaption</code> in the middle, replacing yourcaption with a caption; so in total, <nowiki>thumb|yourcaption ↗</nowiki> produces the following: thumb|yourcaption ↗<br>
:::If you are adding it to an infobox, just do the name of the file in the image field, so just <code>Example.png</code>. Happy editing! <span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;font-size:14px;color:#800080;">VidanaliK</span> (<span style="color:green">talk to me</span>) (<span style="color:blue">contributions</span> ↗) 18:27, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

::::::I'm really sorry to keep bothering you, but do you have any tips on creating the page itself? I've uploaded a small amount of info on Ranboo, but by small I mean 5 or 6 sentences, and I am not sure what all information SHOULD be added, and what SHOULDNT(due to copyrights, or irrelevancy). thanks again so, so much. :::::::SomeRandomPersonUDontKnow (talk) 19:28, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::::@SomeRandomPersonUDontKnow It looks like someone reverted your edit due to being uncited. Under that, you didn't use a template like Template:Cite web ↗ or such, you just cited "Wikituba", "Youtube" and "Twitch", neither of which are reliable sources, and you didn't cite the exact sources. See WP:RS ↗ and WP:CITE ↗ for more info. <span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;font-size:14px;color:#800080;">VidanaliK</span> (<span style="color:green">talk to me</span>) (<span style="color:blue">contributions</span> ↗) 19:45, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

SomeRandomPersonUDontKnow (talk) 19:53, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::@SomeRandomPersonUDontKnow Which websites can you access? :::::::::::back! So what I have access to is just what you get to see when you finish a search on Bing, but you don't open any websites. So is there a way to edit/create a page without providing citation possibly? due to the strictness of Wikipedia, I doubt it, but it's worth asking.SomeRandomPersonUDontKnow (talk) 20:29, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::@SomeRandomPersonUDontKnow Unfortunately, all pages do require direct citations to prove notability ↗ and to verify statements. But there is a bunch of other work you can do here, like copyediting ↗ (that's the only one I can think of right now, but the folks over at the Teahouse ↗ could help you a little more). <span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;font-size:14px;color:#800080;">VidanaliK</span> (<span style="color:green">talk to me</span>) (<span style="color:blue">contributions</span> ↗) 20:49, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

:{{ping|Honeycum}} If you haven't been covered in any major news sources, you likely don't qualify for a Wikipedia article under the notability policy ↗. Someone keeps correcting what I edit. I have records such as wills and photos of Alfred with a boy that is his son and someone keeps undoing what I edit. I know Alfred P Sloan. Just because I’m in Ohio and sued the county doesn’t make me a non-relative. --Dbsloan10 (talk) 04:07, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
Question from LamarrKingg (20:29, 6 July 2026)
Can you please review the latest edit that I made? I found an article that was really small that could be completed and added a lot of missing information. I tried to make sure everything was sourced and everything was really good with references. Thanks. --LamarrKingg (talk) 20:29, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
:{{ping|LamarrKingg}} Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I looked over your edit and it appears you used a large language model such as ChatGPT or other. On Wikipedia, we don't accept edits from AI language models, as they can hallucinate, get things wrong, or word things awkwardly. Also, we are a community of human editors. I reverted the edit.
:Another note: Before hyperlinking or using a template, make sure the page exists. For example, Template:Lang-es ↗ does not exist as you can see by the redlink. You are looking for <code><nowiki>{{Langx|es|(your text)}}</nowiki></code>, not <code><nowiki>{{Lang-es|(your text)}}</nowiki></code>. <span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;font-size:14px;color:#DA9723;">VidanaliK</span> (<span style="color:green">talk to me</span>) (<span style="color:#0038b8">contributions</span> ↗) 15:22, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for your reply. I've done about five edits. What is making you think I used ChatGPT? That's generally not something I use for writing because as you said, the hallucinations and general AI slop have caused a lot of problems for a lot of industries, even in my industry, which is legal field, it has created a lot of problems with hallucinating fake cases. So I would assume someone using it on Wikipedia it would generate fake sources or citations or references. Everything I posted I manually found. LamarrKingg (talk) 15:33, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
:::I plugged it into an AI detector and it returned a probability of AI 100%. I understand that sometimes these things are not accurate and that some people's writing style is just AI-like or can be mistaken for AI, but I am still a bit skeptical. I looked over it again and it does actually fit Wikipedia style and the citations work, so it can stay; I restored your revision with a fix that made the template work. <span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;font-size:14px;color:#DA9723;">VidanaliK</span> (<span style="color:green">talk to me</span>) (<span style="color:#0038b8">contributions</span> ↗) 15:55, 7 July 2026 (UTC)

Question from ScienceSammy (16:19, 10 July 2026)
I would like to create a new section in an article related to a news article about a controversy.
How are controversies reported by the media covered with Wikipedia? --ScienceSammy (talk) 16:19, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
:@ScienceSammy The most important thing when reporting controversies is to stick with a neutral point of view. Only stick with objective facts that are reported in reliable news sources that do not seem to have a stake in the controversy. One of the most important factors is, do you want to attribute or not attribute it? This means, do you state the claim as objective fact (The sky is blue) or do you attribute it to the person making that claim? (According to X, the sky is blue). For facts about the controversy that people on both sides of the controversy would agree on, you don't have to attribute it, but for claims made by only one side of the controversy and reported in reliable news sources, you should attribute it.
:For objective facts, I recommend trying to figure out whether a particular news article is on a particular side. If you can tell what side it is on, attribute it. If you can't, you can state it as objective fact. Can you explain exactly which controversy you're referring to and in what article? <span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS;font-size:14px;color:#DA9723;">VidanaliK</span> (<span style="color:green">talk to me</span>) (<span style="color:#0038b8">contributions</span> ↗) 17:24, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
