:{{ping|Ldm1954}} WP:FINDLINK ↗ is a great tool; it works well, especially when the name is given in an article's text. Since citation templates usually require parameters such as <code>|author1-link=</code> I generally launch exact phrase searches on the English Wikipedia's own search bar. I find that I am able to avoid false positives, avoid breaking citation templates, and look for precisely punctuated, exact author names such as "Saldin, DK" and "Saldin, D.
