Managing a conflict of interest

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, WikiPate. We welcome ↗ your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about ↗ on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest ↗ (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the '''conflict of interest guideline ↗''' and FAQ for organizations ↗ for more information. We ask that you:

Hey,
thanks for your message.

Actually I feel a bit honoured, because aviation is nothing but my hobby. I have never worked in or for the aviation sector – directly or indirectly. All my knowledge about aviation I learned by myself autodidactically.

I give my best to keep a critical distance anyway. For example by stating (questionable) flights to Russia by Air Arabia Abu Dhabi. And by stating terminated (failed) routes by Wizz Air Abu Dhabi. WikiPate (talk) 07:24, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
:Thanks for the prompt response. I was a bit concerned due to your focus on very new airlines, and because at Air Arabia Abu Dhabi ↗ you cited sources that included criticism of the subject but didn't make a mention of it in the prose of the article. That having been said, given your editing history as a whole I'm satisfied with your response at this time. signed, '''''Rosguill''''' ''talk'' 07:30, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

I appreciate your efforts of keeping WP a neutral source of information. WikiPate (talk) 21:29, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 25

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Arajet ↗, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page New York ↗<!-- ([//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dablinks.py/Arajet check to confirm]&nbsp;|&nbsp;[//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dab_solver.py/Arajet?client=notify fix with Dab solver])-->. :This edit was meant:
:https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=IndiGo&diff=prev&oldid=1160915251
:No reference for the figure 778. IndiGo ordered 500 planes of the A320neo <u>family</u> including A320neo and <u>A321neo</u>. So you cannot simply calculate 178+600=778 just for the A320neo. Not sure where you got the 600 from. Adding 500 in this cell would be also wrong. There is no reference supporting your edit.
:In the same edit you added the URL https://simpleflying.com/indigo-record-breaking-airbus-order/ behind "Largest [A320neo] operator". This is a wrong reference that does not support the statement that IndiGo is the largest A320neo operator. WikiPate (talk) 09:41, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

Charts of this nature do not give us an explanation of what x and y axis mean..... Nor is there a source for us to click on to actually figure it out. 10,000 people came 10 people came? Thinking of removing these all over if they're not fixed. <span style="display:inline-flex;rotate:-15deg;color:darkblue">'''Moxy'''</span><span style="display:inline-flex;rotate:15deg;color:darkblue">🍁</span> 21:11, 4 August 2025 (UTC)

:Hi thanks for your message. The graphs show how the tourist arrivals change per months. Look for example in the article of Tourism in Greece ↗ and you will see a big difference between summer and winter. While in other countries there is not really a change during the year. The vertical axis clearly means tourist arrivals per months. And in this case the horizontal axis means that the unit is in percent which is stated. So in this example 10% of the tourists in 2024 arrived in August. The source is clearly given: The UN Tourism Data Dashboard. It's the first entry when using Google. Unfortunately in this script it is not possible to add an inline source. If you know a way how to add an inline source here, I will add it. WikiPate (talk) 22:10, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
::Okay that makes more sense..... I'm assuming most will be like me and have no clue what the meaning is ....is there a way to get the number? As in 10% of the 20,000 people that arrived throughout the year? <span style="display:inline-flex;rotate:-15deg;color:darkblue">'''Moxy'''</span><span style="display:inline-flex;rotate:15deg;color:darkblue">🍁</span> 22:50, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
:::And there's got to be a way to make the source accessible to our readers..... this is something that's required. <span style="display:inline-flex;rotate:-15deg;color:darkblue">'''Moxy'''</span><span style="display:inline-flex;rotate:15deg;color:darkblue">🍁</span> 22:51, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
::::I made it with the inline citation. See the chart on the right on this talk page. Are the numbers behind the percentages that important here? The purpose of the chart is rather to show which months are more and less frequented by tourists. To show if there is a seasonality. Thanks to the headline in bigger and bolt letters, the reader can see it more clearly than before that the numbers are in percent. WikiPate (talk) 23:39, 4 August 2025 (UTC)

May 2026

Hello. I understand your concern regarding my edit to the Spirit Airlines ↗ fleet list description. My intention was to update the information to reflect the airline’s operational status as of May 2026 rather than December 2025. I was not attempting to disrupt the article or ignore consensus.

If my edit did not meet sourcing or formatting standards, I’m willing to discuss improvements and provide reliable references. I would appreciate guidance on the correct way to update the information instead of reverting immediately or escalating toward a block.

Thank you for your time. Guy89272 (talk) 23:07, 15 May 2026 (UTC)

:@Guy89272
:First, please take care to only write on the <u>talk page</u> of users, not on the user page!
:Regarding Spirit Airlines, you can put in the fleet data of Spirit Airlines <u>as of 30 April 2026</u> using the Airbus Orders&Deliveries Document:
:https://mediaassets.airbus.com/pm_38_903_903486-hy0wjjhb50.xlsx?fileName=orders-and-deliveries-april-2026.xlsx<nowiki/>(accessible via the website https://www.airbus.com/en/products-services/commercial-aircraft/orders-and-deliveries)
:In the xls file, click on the sheet "Worldwide", push Strg+F and search "Spirit Airlines". Removing the rows 21-510 in that sheet is advisable.
:Don't forget to update the reference for the fleet table: Set the source date of the Airbus Orders&Deliveries reference to 30 April 2026. WikiPate (talk) 23:51, 15 May 2026 (UTC)

Boeing 747 Operators

Qatar Amiri Flight may be better shown as a non-airline operator as it is a private VVIP government airline that operates exclusively on demand. It caters almost exclusively to the Qatari royal family, high-ranking government officials, and official state guests

Many of their jets are painted in the standard livery of the commercial carrier Qatar Airways for branding consistency, even though they operate as a completely separate government entity. Aristoenigma (talk) 21:36, 26 May 2026 (UTC)

:@Aristoenigma it's okay for me to put Qatar Amiri Flight into "Current non-airline operators".
:It may be also better the change the first sentence in the Qatar Amiri Flight ↗ article "Qatar Amiri Flight is a VVIP airline" into "Qatar Amiri Flight is a VVIP air transport operator" WikiPate (talk) 14:09, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
::Great idea Aristoenigma (talk) 00:18, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for keeping this 747 operator page up to date and accurate. As a good intentioned luddite I sure appreciate your technical editing ability.
::Can I additionally toss out there that non-airline Boeing is an owner of the four 747 Dreamlifter LCFs but legally is not the operator/maintainer which role it has contracted out to Atlas Air. Most importantly showing Boeing as an non-airline operator of four 747s also makes the Atlas Air 747 totals inaccurate by a duplicated four. Aristoenigma (talk) 20:46, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
:::@Aristoenigma ✔️ done so WikiPate (talk) 21:13, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
::::Thanks WikiPate. Great stuff.
::::There is a similar duplication arising from Atlas Air and Polar Air. The Polar Air operated 747s are included in the Atlas totals and this is already footnoted. Therefore there is an overall overstatement by including a Polar Air number. Perhaps best to remove Polar Air as an operator with fleet and leave footnoted at Atlas Air. Here is a March reference from Atlas Air website that defines total fleet at 65 rather than 67.https://www.atlasairworldwide.com/2026/03/a-milestone-to-move-the-world/ Aristoenigma (talk) 23:51, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
:::::@Aristoenigma In the table are the airlines Atlas Air (65) and Polar Air (2) as well as the Atlas Air Holding (65+2=67). The holding consist of both airlines.
:::::I think the best might be to delete the Atlas Air Holding, because it's easier to find references for the individual airlines than for the holding. And at one time in the future somebody may update those figures in a way that they don't add up anymore, and therefore will be contradicting. WikiPate (talk) 01:00, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
::::::I believe that the 65 for Atlas shown in the link I sent includes any Polar 747s flown for Atlas. Also it is 3 aircraft flown by Polar for Atlas but that comes from an unaccredited source at Planespotters. But better to have one Atlas representation and let future contributors fix the Polar number. Aristoenigma (talk) 01:28, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
:::::::Thanks Aristoenigma (talk) 01:29, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
::::::Hi again WikiPate. The count of 747-8Fs for Polar Air Cargo should be 3 rather than 2 according to the Polar Air Cargo article referenced. If that stands uncorrected there is an incongruity. I believe the number 2 was an error by the last amender as 2 was the historical number referenced in the Polar Air article. Aristoenigma (talk) 04:47, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::@Aristoenigma The List of 747 operators cannot guarantee that all numbers are totally up-to-date and 100% the same to whats written elsewhere because different sources of different dates are used. It looks like that the numbers in the list don't contradict themselves which is already something good.
:::::::The numbers of Polar Air fit to the related reference. If you like, you can change the 747-8F number of Polar Air by yourself and replace the reference with the one of the Polar Air article. WikiPate (talk) 10:22, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::@Aristoenigma I just saw that the List of 747 operators and the Polar Air article use the same reference. Somebody changed the number of 747-8F in the Polar Air article from 2 to 3 without stating a reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Polar_Air_Cargo&diff=prev&oldid=1319325669 ↗ Now it's 2 B747-8F also in the Polar Air article.
::::::::The user Ardfern updated a lot of fleet tables in airline articles with the reference "Global Airline Guide 2025". Via the version history of an airline article you can see which numbers he put in: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Polar_Air_Cargo&diff=prev&oldid=1308267046 ↗ WikiPate (talk) 11:20, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::Hi WikiPate. Just a note to urge you to review the Air Atlanta count of 747s. There are no passenger versions left and the Pax versions were stored in England and some already scrapped. The Combo version referenced from 2022 in the footnote 5 was serial number N28551 and was sold to a private owner and stored in Beiing two years ago via Bank of Utah, The recent news of a purchase of the fleet of Air Atlanta Europe and Air Atlanta Icelandic by Atlas talks only of 747Fs Aristoenigma (talk) 10:00, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::@Aristoenigma If you find a reliable reference for the Air Atlanta passenger versions, please change it by yourself per WP:BE BOLD ↗. WikiPate (talk) 10:19, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::@Aristoenigma If you didn't find a reliable cost-free reference but want to update the figures by all means: Then you may already have or want to get one of these options to use as a reference in the List of B747 operators:
::::::::::* ch-aviation pro with a 14 day trail ↗
::::::::::* Airliner World link 1 ↗ and link 2 ↗
::::::::::In case of Airliner World check beforehand if a certain issue includes the current fleet numbers of all airlines. WikiPate (talk) 14:59, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::Hi WikiPate.
:::::::::Here is a retrieved article from CH Aviation dated May 28,2026
:::::::::https://www.ch-aviation.com/news/167761-uss-atlas-air-acquires-49-of-icelands-air-atlanta
:::::::::It refers to Polar Air as having 2 747-8Fs. That matched the current shown entry for Polar Air Cargo. However it also refers to a total 747-8F count of 15 for Atlas Air rather than the currently shown 17. We talked about this before.
:::::::::Secondly the article refers to a total of 14 747-400 freighters between Air Atlanta Icelandic(8) and Air Atlanta Europe(6) As I mentioned there have not been any PAX or Combi 747s at Air Atlanta for several years.
:::::::::As an aside if you you like these references can you help edit. I am a bit shell shocked with the process and appreciate you being there. Unlike some others that lead with threats to ban. Thanks Aristoenigma (talk) 22:02, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::If you add a reference next to your changed content in the article, nobody will threaten to block you because of not having added a reference :)
::::::::::<br>
::::::::::The ch-aviation ref looks good. Change the numbers in the List of B747 operators, fill out this citation template <code><nowiki><ref>{{Cite web |title= |url= |access-date= |date= |website=}}</ref></nowiki></code> and replace this citation with the ones of Atlas Air and Air Atlanta Icelandic.

:::::::::::Thanks for responding. I do not get it. Not able to understand your instruction on template or visual editing. Aristoenigma (talk) 20:49, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::just copy and paste this behind the number (works in source code editor and visual editor): <code><nowiki><ref>{{Cite web |title=US's Atlas Air acquires 49% of Iceland's Air Atlanta |url=https://www.ch-aviation.com/news/167761-uss-atlas-air-acquires-49-of-icelands-air-atlanta |access-date=5 June 2026 |date=28 May 2026 |website=ch-aviation.com}}</ref></nowiki></code> WikiPate (talk) 20:57, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::::I would be changing several numbers so where do you paste the reference? Behind each new number? I am stuck in source code mode. Aristoenigma (talk) 21:12, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::::behind each total number. WikiPate (talk) 21:14, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::::::Now how do I fix the chart that is botched up? Aristoenigma (talk) 21:37, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::::::I have tried to no avail Aristoenigma (talk) 22:16, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::::::::looks good 👍. You can also ask Gemini/ChatGPT how to do something. For example <code>How do I change from the source code editor to the visual editor in the English Wikipedia?</code> or <code>How do I fix this table in the English Wikipedia?"</code> and then you copy and paste the source code of that table in the same prompt in Gemini/ChatGPT.
:::::::::::::::::You could also add that reference to the fleet table in the Air Atlanta Icelandic ↗ article. I recommend to only have one row for the 747-400F and delete all the notes, because all the notes in the fleet table are unsourced. WikiPate (talk) 11:53, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::::::::Hi WikiPate. Just noticed that Geosky still shows in list as operating 2 747-200 Fs whereas the aircraft were gone some time ago. In fact the Geosky wiki article affirms no 747s as of January 2026. The website of Geosky also confirms no 747s.https://airgeosky.com/en/fleet
::::::::::::::::::Not sure how to address in light of the cite of footnote reference 23 from Airline guide. Thanks as always Aristoenigma (talk) 23:30, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::::::::::The user Ardfern stated 2 B747 as of September 2025 according to Global Airline Guide: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Geosky&diff=prev&oldid=1306576890 ↗.
:::::::::::::::::::In the List of Boeing 747 operators ↗, remove Geosky from the active fleet table and add Geosky in the section of former B747-200 operators. There add the Global Airline Guide reference behind "Geosky". And write the link https://airgeosky.com/en/fleet into your edit summary as proof that Geosky does not operate B747 anymore. WikiPate (talk) 13:57, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::::::::::I removed Geosky. Can you coach me on how to add Geosky to former oprator of 747-200. Thanks Aristoenigma (talk) 18:12, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::::::::::::Bloody hell. Danners430 has removed all my good faith attempts to amend in accordance with your advice. Danners430 is most objectionable Aristoenigma (talk) 21:33, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::::::::::::Here is why Danners430 reverted your edit: You didn't place the Global Airline Guide reference behind "Geosky" in the section of former operators. Even though I wrote you to do so. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Boeing_747_operators&curid=6195343&diff=1359209978&oldid=1359188174 ↗
::::::::::::::::::::::Actually you can place both the Global Airline Guide reference and the https://airgeosky.com/en/fleet reference behind Geosky in the section of former 747-200 operators. No need to put a reference in the edit summary. This way the reader can see that Geosky operated the 747-200 in the past, but now not anymore. WikiPate (talk) 12:55, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::::::::::::::I had asked you for guidance in the midst of the step to add the reference to past operation. Danners is too anxious to revert imo. There was also no need to fully revert by adding back current operation when it was obviously wrong. Really ruins the experience of trying to contribute. Can I ask you again to take me through the process. Thanks Aristoenigma (talk) 19:19, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::::::::::::::I can remove Geosky row from Current and I can add Geosky to former but I cannot figure out how to add reference for past Aristoenigma (talk) 21:20, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

Your work with O&D files

Hi, do you think you could take a look at List of Airbus A220 orders and deliveries ↗? It's almost entirely based off the Airbus O&D, which I think you've been looking at closely? <span class="nowrap"><span style="color: RebeccaPurple">Danners430</span> tweaks made ↗</span> 12:38, 5 June 2026 (UTC)

:Hey, what exactly do you ask me to do in this list? So far I rather worked on operator lists instead of orders&delivery lists. WikiPate (talk) 17:34, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
::It was more just making you aware of it - I haven't looked at the sources, but you by the looks of it have :-) <span class="nowrap"><span style="color: RebeccaPurple">Danners430</span> tweaks made ↗</span> 17:34, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
:::On first sight, the list article looks well sourced. Reference number 4 has a current source date and access date. (Wikipedia gives an error for the first zero in 05 June 2026)
:::Reference 4 is used for six tables/graphs in the list article which means with every update all six graphs/tables need to be updated by a user. Could be an idea to split reference 4 into seperate references if users often don't update all six graphs/tables at once. WikiPate (talk) 17:45, 5 June 2026 (UTC)

Airline edit warring

Keep an eye on {{user|~2026-33638-12}} who seems intent on undoing your good work. I have reverted what they did so far. 10mmsocket (talk) 13:49, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
