Welcome!
Hello, Yelps, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions ↗. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page :Alvania ignota ↗ did not conform to Wikipedia's '''verifiability policy ↗''', and may have been removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations verified in reliable, reputable print or online sources or in other reliable media. Always provide a '''reliable source ↗''' for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research ↗ in articles.
If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the '''guide for citing sources ↗''' or come to ''' The Teahouse ↗''', where experienced Wikipedians ↗ can answer any queries you have.

Wikipedia and copyright
30px|link=|alt=Control copyright icon ↗ Hello Yelps! Your additions to :Fenimorea abscondita ↗ have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted ↗ content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain ↗ or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible ↗ copyright license. (''To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission ↗''.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright ↗ and plagiarism ↗ issues. Here are the key points:
- '''Limited quotation:''' You may only copy or translate a ''small'' portion of a source. Any direct quotations ↗ must be enclosed in double quotation mark ↗s (") and properly cited using an inline citation ↗. More information is available on the non-free content page ↗. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners ↗.
- '''Paraphrasing:''' Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information ''in your own words''. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues ↗ and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing ↗. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources ↗ as appropriate.
- '''Image use guidelines:''' In most scenarios, only freely licensed ↗ or public domain ↗ images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons ↗. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria ↗; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide ↗ may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- '''Copyrighted material donation:''' If ''you'' hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you ''may'' be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials ↗.
- '''Copying and translation within Wikipedia:''' Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia ↗. For translation, see {{section link|Help:Translation|Licensing}}.

Spooky Month ↗ moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Spooky Month ↗, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable ↗, independent sources ↗. <small>(? ↗)</small> Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability ↗ is of central importance ↗ on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace ↗ (with a prefix of "<code>Draft:</code>" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Speed deletions
Hello Yelps! I noticed that you had tagged Monika vs FNAF!? ↗ for speedy deletion. While I do agree that the article is unfit for Wikipedia, the criteria for speedy deletion ↗ are strict and well-defined, and your reason for tagging the article was not among them. Hence, I have removed the tagging from the page. The page, as it stands, does meet the criterion A7 ↗ (no indication of significance: web content); but the article cannot yet be tagged for it since earlier discussions between Wikipedia users have determined that newly-made articles (under one hour old) should not be tagged for deletion under A7 (and some other speedy deletion criteria) to give the article author a chance to improve on the page. I urge you to go through the speedy deletion policy and understand the criteria before engaging in further taggings. Thank you, and happy editing! Hello
First of all, why did you decide to randomly check out my creations? Second of all, why were you so impressed with my work-rate on Spanish football biographies?
To answer your question, I have created nearly 1,000 biographies, 90% about Spanish and French footballers, including +400 starts, +300 Cs, +100 Bs, and only a meager 20 stubs.
This is the first time that I'm actually hearing about WP:AUTOPATROLLED ↗, but I'm afraid it is too late for me now. I have too many skeletons in my closet. Not to mention that some of my articles have SIGCOV issues, and I already got some sporadic copyright warnings.
But if you enjoy my work so much, you can always give me a star (wink wink). Kind regards. Luis7M (talk) 05:15, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
:Sorry, I'm a talk page stalker of sorts (WP:JAGUAR ↗), so I learned about how you made more than 1000 articles through your talk page messages. Indrāni Parish
Hi, just wanted to clarify the problem that has risen around the article about Indrāni Parish, Latvia ↗ (Indrānu pagasts). The original name of the article was Indrāni Parish, which was perfect, but then user User:Onel5969 made a translation error while navigating Latvian grammar and redirected (not moved) it to Indrān Parish, which is incorrect. As it was impossible for me to move the page back to the normal name, I moved it to Indrāni Parish, Latvia at least for now. Since you reverted the deletion of the redirect, maybe you can help me move the page to Indrāni Parish and fix this once and for all? Ivario (talk) 13:25, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
:Oh, so that was what's happening? Sounds like a complicated case. Sorry though, that needs administrator attention to delete the bad redirect and move the article back to its original name without leaving a redirect. I'm far from being an admin and don't want to be one. There's no clear-cut speedy deletion tags for cases like this (the closest would be WP:R3 ↗, but no one without provided context would say it's implausible). And since admins wouldn't potentially know about the context, they'll likely decline the speedy deletion request. So, maybe write a custom speedy deletion tag using Template:Db ↗ and provide all necessary context? That'll hopefully do it. <b style="font-family:helvetica;color:green">Yelps ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ </b><b style="font-family:helvetica;border:transparent;padding:0 9px;background:linear-gradient(#810011,black);color:#19443C;border-radius:6px">critique me</b> 13:50, 10 June 2025 (UTC)

:Hello @Dream Focus, sorry for the late response (It was midnight in my timezone), but for cases like this where there's equally valid redirect targets, you need to create a disambiguation. Just listing the names of the two targets without doing all the other stuff isn't how you make a disambiguation. Though I admit, I could've just added the lead and the disambiguation template instead of reverting, since that would take a minute or so. That's a mistake on my part. I'll make the redirect into a proper disambiguation right now. <b style="font-family:helvetica;color:green">Yelps ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ </b><b style="font-family:helvetica;border:transparent;padding:0 9px;background:linear-gradient(#810011,black);color:#19443C;border-radius:6px">critique me</b> 08:58, 19 July 2025 (UTC)

Signature contrast
25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm Femke. I wanted to let you know that your signature does not meet the requirements for signature appearances ↗. Your signature may have too little contrast. You can use a tool to check the contrast ↗ to determine if you're signature meets the minimum contrast ratio of 4.5. :It was very hard to find the correct ratio with the color palette I wanted (green, cyan, and maroon). But I found something that checks two of the boxes while still being similar to the original. I found one that does check three of the boxes but that would require the green being unnecessarily light, should I switch to that? DCWC August update
We're a month into the 2025 Developing Countries WikiContest ↗, with stiff competition at the top of the leaderboard already! Our current top five contestants are:
# {{DCWC participant/2025|Spookyaki}} – 256 points, mostly from a handful of GAs about women's history in Latin America as well as the 1991 Haitian coup d'état ↗.
# {{DCWC participant/2025|Vigilantcosmicpenguin}} – 229 points, back with a number of articles on abortion in various African countries.
# {{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}} – 213 points, mainly from GAs on species of jumping spiders in both Africa and Azerbaijan.
# {{DCWC participant/2025|PizzaKing13}} – 200 points, with five GAs on articles relating to Salvadoran politics, history, and griddle cakes ↗.
# {{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} – 168 points from a few GAs, a few DYKs, and a few ITNs on athletes from a variety of countries.
Looking for ways to climb up the leaderboard yourself? Help out your fellow participants by answering a few '''review requests ↗''', particularly the older entries. Several more nominations needing attention are listed at '''eligible reviews ↗''', and highlighed entries receive a 1.5× multiplier!
On behalf of the coordinators, we'd like to thank all the participants for helping to combat systemic bias ↗ on Wikipedia! Adding long comment template
Hallo, I can't see any rule telling us where the long comment template and comment should be added, but please add them somewhere outside the main content of a page, so that the page is clearer for future editors.
Here ↗ you added it between the "*" and the content of the entry. (That page is on my watchlist so I noticed).
Here ↗ it's in the middle of the three apostrophes bolding the name.
Please add it either at the top or the bottom of the article (I think bottom is probably better), with a blank line setting it off so that editors can see at a glimpse what it is. Thanks. <span style="color: green">'''''Pam'''''</span><span style="color: brown">'''''D'''''</span> 10:07, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

::Hello {{ping|PamD}} I've actually wondered about the lack of specificity in the docs of the template, and decided to break what seemed to be an implicit rule to see what would happen. (I know, it's probably a bit disruptive in hindsight. Guess everyone has moments where the brain thinks something is not bad when it is kinda bad. Trout me for that, idk). Thanks for your advice, though I wasn't planning to place the template in random places outside of those two anyways, but it's appreciated anyway :) <b style="font-family:helvetica;color:#007500">Yelps ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ </b><b style="font-family:helvetica;border:transparent;padding:0 9px;background:#660000;color:#CCFFFF;border-radius:6px">critique me</b> 11:22, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
:::I've raised the question of its placement at Template_talk:Short_pages_monitor#Position_in_article ↗. I think at the end, separated by a blank line, is clearest and keeps it out of the way of editors who don't want to know about it.

DCWC closing update
Two weeks ago, the 2025 Developing Countries WikiContest ↗ came to a close! After three months of stiff competition at the top of the leaderboard, we have our winners. <span class="nowrap">30px|Bronze Belt Buckle – 3rd place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant/2025|Vigilantcosmicpenguin}}, continuing his work on covering abortion in Africa ↗, comes in third with 692 points. <span class="nowrap">30px|Silver Belt Buckle – 2nd place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}} comes in second with 763 points, largely from a slew of good articles about jumping spider ↗s. And returning to the podium for the second year in a row, <span class="nowrap">30px|Gold Belt Buckle – 1st place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} takes the Gold Belt Buckle with a mind-boggling 946 points from his series of articles on sportpersons. Congratulations to our winners!
Amazingly, the award for the most countries covered goes to both {{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} and {{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}}, who each submitted articles under 30 flags! {{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} also wins for writing the most quality articles (16 good articles). For submitting 16 articles related to El Salvador, {{DCWC participant/2025|PizzaKing13}} wins the award for most submissions under one country. The award for most submissions related to women goes to both {{DCWC participant/2025|Spookyaki}} (7 biographies about women) and {{DCWC participant/2025|Vigilantcosmicpenguin}} (21 related articles). And for the second year, {{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}} wins for the most reviews, having submitted 21!
Among the participants' contributions were 2 FAs, 5 FLs, 124 GAs, and an uncounted number of DYKs, ITNs, and reviews of every kind! Regardless of your level of participation, every contestant can be proud to have contributed towards a major step in countering the systemic bias on Wikipedia ↗. Every year, millions of readers and editors around the globe use Wikipedia to educate themselves and communicate with others about parts of the world that often receive less attention than they deserve. Sanford Marina
Hi Yelps. I just declined the CSD you placed on Sanford Marina ↗. It was eligible for A3 ↗ at the time, but then the creator added some content. Since all of a page's history has to be eligible for a CSD to apply, I removed the tag. If you still think it should be deleted, feel free to nominate it at AFD ↗ (or, if no constructive edits happen for an hour, maybe just draftify ↗ it). Chess enjoyer ↗ (talk) 19:43, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
:Oh okay. Seems like it has already been draftified by another person. One question though, how was I supposed to know that the creator was going to put content in it? All I looked at was that the article didn't have any content and hadn't been edited for almost an hour. Was my decision the best move or should I have done something else? Thanks — <b style="font-family:helvetica;color:#007500">Yelps ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ </b><b style="font-family:helvetica;border:transparent;padding:0 9px;background:#660000;color:#CCFFFF;border-radius:6px">critique me</b> 08:55, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
::{{tq|how was I supposed to know that the creator was going to put content in it?}} – Assuming you don't have a crystal ball ↗, you couldn't have. It had no content when you were looking at it, so tagging it for A3 ↗ was perfectly fine. Now you didn't have to do this, but another thing you could have done is draftify the article from the start. The "A" criteria don't apply to drafts, and draftification is arguably the kinder approach since it gives the creator a time to improve the page without an immediate threat of deletion. I probably would have draftified the article, but there was nothing wrong with just tagging it. Chess enjoyer ↗ (talk) 19:04, 1 June 2026 (UTC)

Archiving the archive sites
Yelps, I see you're adding archive links, which is an excellent idea for ephemeral websites. It's a great deal less useful for archival sites; for instance, at Chicken ↗, you archived a New York Times article - it's a journal of record - and a scientific article in Physiological Reviews, which likewise is a serious journal with a proper archive. Sources of these kinds have archives going back to their first issues so I don't really see the point of filling up articles with archive links. Chiswick Chap (talk) 10:54, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
:Yep, that's because I'm using an automated tool (WP:IABOT ↗) to archive these. It only doesn't know which are appropriate to archive. But I still use it because link rot is a serious and neglected problem and the good far outweighs the bad. I do look at some of the archives to see if they are appropriate. I would've checked the archives in chicken ↗ too and likely notice them. So, do you want me to remove the archives or did you intend to make me take more care when archiving. I can do both of these. But in Chinese, Ruolin is a given name. Hey Yelps, the Developing Countries WikiContest ↗ is back for a third year, and '''sign-ups are now open ↗'''! The contest will run from 1{{nbsp}}July to 30{{nbsp}}September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia ↗.
Thanks to everyone who answered the call for coordinators, and please welcome the new faces on the coordinator team: the 2024 Gold Belt Buckle winner {{user|Generalissima}}; and the record-holder for most India-related submissions in 2024, {{user|Magentic Manifestations}}! Following feedback from last year, adjustments have been made to the scoring rules ↗; discussion can be found on the contest talk page ↗.
If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or contact one of the coordinators: {{user|Arconning}}, {{user|Generalissima}}, {{user|Magentic Manifestations}}, {{user|sawyer777}}, or {{user|TechnoSquirrel69}}. <small>(To unsubscribe from these updates, remove yourself from this list ↗. Hey Yelps, the third annual Developing Countries WikiContest ↗ is now '''open for submissions'''. The coordinators have addressed some of the queries at the last contest and we are hopeful that it'll turn out great! If you haven't done so already, please review the following:
- New to Wikipedia? Many experienced editors are part of this contest and willing to help; feel free to ask questions on the talk page ↗.
- Got open nominations? List them at the review requests sidebar ↗.
- Looking for a topic to work on? Check out suggested articles ↗ and eligible reviews ↗.
- Not sure if your article qualifies? See the scoring rules ↗ for more information or contact a coordinator ↗.
- Know someone else who might be interested? Sign-ups remain open ↗ throughout the contest, so don't hesitate to invite other editors!
On behalf of the coordinators, we hope you enjoy participating and wish you the best of luck!
