Chichewa as official language



@Af265 Are you sure that Chewa is the official language of Malawi? I am asking this because you said so in your edit summary. Without wasting time, Chewa is '''not''' official language of Malawi, and is not even national language of Malawi. There is no such claim in the constitution of Malawi. Chichewa and Chitumbuka are not official or national languages of Malawi. But know that they '''were ↗''' once official languages of Malawi alongside English. English is still officially official language of Malawi while the two lost such status 50 years ago.
Chichewa dominates the Central and Southern Malawi and can be understood by tribes found in the regions including Yao, Lomwe, Sena, etc. In the same case, Chitumbuka dominates the Northern Region and parts of Central Region (in Kasungu and Nkhotakota districts). In the Northern, if different tribes meet in one place such as the Tonga, Nyiha, Sukwa, Ndali, Nyakyusa, Ngonde, Senga, Tumbuka and Lambya, they could use Chitumbuka and understand each other.

Stop pushing or considering Chichewa (or Chitumbuka) as national or official languages of the country. There are currently no such claims officially. Spreading wrong information to the world and on Wikipedia is against its policies.

:Thank you so much for your message. However, I said it is the de facto official language. In other words, it is the common denominator of all local languages in Malawi. Almost everyone in Malawi understands a certain degree of Chichewa. For example, a Sena from Nsanje might go to Karonga for business and he/she might be able to talk to the locals there in Chichewa rather than Chitumbuka. These two people, even though they are not Chewa, still understand it, at least the basics. So Chichewa is the common denominator. Therefore, I believe it would be correct if an article about the Sena people said something like, most of them understand some basic Chichewa, but the same cannot be said for other languages like Chitumbuka, Tonga, Lomwe, etc., in this case.
:I’m not trying to push Chewa, but it’s a fact that Chewa is the common language in Malawi, understood by almost everyone, making it easier for people of different tribes to carry on a conversation or business.

:Tanzania election - what your adding in the lead paragraph is meant for conduct section, atleast most of it. You might have to check other african election articles like Malawi, or cameroom etc to see how this section is meant to be. Anyway, coming to this article. in fact most of the content is already there in the conduct or campaghn section, just check down you'll see so its abit of redundant to have the very same content in the lead paragraph.
