STOP
'''PLEASE STOP CREATING DUPLICATE WIKILINKS'''

"Redundant links clutter the page and make future maintenance harder"
Please stop creating duplicate links for FOX_on_NFL. Stop creating duplicate links for players that are already linked in the article. Thanks.
Suggestions on NFL Football Game Summaries
'''Please Read!!!'''
Please read the suggestions that others have given you on this page. Please diversify your game summaries. They all sound the same on all the different teams you edit for.
"Coming off their home win/loss.."<br />
"Hoping to rebound.."<br />
"... With the win/loss, the [Whatever Team] fell to.."<br />
"[Whatever Team] rallied in the 4th quarter.."<br />
"[Whatever Team] tried to rally.."
Stop using duplicate wikilinks within a same article; this means that you should always check and see if a player you are linking is already linked previously. For example Matt Cassel is linked multiple times in the 2009 Kansas City Chiefs article.
Also, please stop using terms like "nailed" for making field goals. It's not really fit for an encyclopedia. Also phrases like "the Redskins would get on board". "Get on board" is idiomatic, thus not fit for an encyclopedia. It's not as egregious, but it's like saying "Favre was not ''down with'' the Packers". Slang and other idiomatic phrases should not be used.
Do not remove cleanup messages when a section has not been cleaned up. Do not take cleanup messages personally. If something needs to be cleaned up and is marked so, either cleanup the section or at the very least leave a comment indicating why the message was removed.
Your contributions are appreciated, but please follow the general guidelines that ''all'' editors should adhere to. If not, I will be notifying an admin.

:Again, please do not use terms like "went on the warpath" and "came out firing" as you did in the 2009 Washington Redskins article.
:Again, please do not use duplicate links within the same article

:Do not use words like "domination" as you did on the 2009 Buffalo Bills game summary for the Miami Dolphin game.
:I added cleanup-templates to the above section. As a reminder, do not remove cleanup templates unless the section has been cleaned up, or you provide an explanation as to why a valid cleanup message is removed.

:Alakazam, I have cleared your talk page of any clutter that may distract you from receiving this message. All of your former talk page conversations (or lack thereof) are now contained in four archives on the right side of this page. You may refer to them at any time. Since there has been a number of users involved in editing NFL articles who have had problems with your editing, citing violations of Wikipedia guidelines such as WP:MOS ↗ and WP:NPOV ↗, I will try to go point-by-point so you will get, well, the point of what you need to do once this block is over to better follow these guidelines and to better interact with other users:
:#Sign all of your posts on your talk page and on any non-article pages. To do so, simply attach <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> to the end of your post; this will let other users know who wrote the message on the talk page and when they wrote it.
:#Read your talk page. Your talk page is what you are reading now, and it will contain important messages from other users and from bots who will let you know when your attention is needed on a certain issue. When someone leaves a message on your talk page, you will notice a yellow box at the top of any Wikipedia page saying you have a new messages and providing you a link to this message. It is best that you follow this link and read the message.
:#Utilize your watchlist, so you can track when users are editing your talk page and make swift responses, as this is needed to be a functioning Wikipedia user.
:#Use edit summaries for all of your edits, whenever possible. This will let other users know - because there ''are'' other users who edit NFL-related pages and who have an interest in the material as well - what you are doing to the page and why you are doing it. If there is a dispute over your edits, then this can be communicated through edit summaries. If someone reverts your edits, then it is expected that the other user will have used an edit summary and thus you will be able to know why someone did in fact revert your edits.
:#Follow Wikipedia's Manual of Style ↗. I'm not asking you to read it cover-to-cover, but all Wikipedians, especially those who have been around as long as you, should have a good working knowledge of what kind of style elements should be followed. Some of these include ''not capitalizing every word of section headings (Season schedule, not Season Schedule)'' and ''using formal language at all times (always Dolphins and never 'Phins; always Redskins and never 'Skins).'' Other examples include ''not using duplicate wikilinks within a same article; this means that you should always check and see if a player you are linking (like Matt Cassel ↗ in a game summary) has already been linked to in 2008 New England Patriots season ↗, for example.'' If he has, then WP:MOS says you should not link to that article again. This also goes for the game commentators, ''so if Dick Enberg ↗ has already been linked in 2008 New England Patriots season ↗ because he has already called a Patriots game before in the season, he should not be linked to again for the second, third, and so-on games.''
:#Follow The Neutral Point-of-View policy ↗. This is especially applicable when you write your summaries for NFL season pages. Using subjective and biased wording such as "trounced the opponent" or any related diction that is passionate towards one team or another is a violation of this policy. Keep the summaries grounded and neutral - if you want an example of this, see the summaries I wrote on 2008 New England Patriots season ↗.
:#Follow The Civility policy ↗. Do not make comments like this ↗ to other users just because they asked you to follow a guideline. There is a code of conduct that must be followed on Wikipedia, and stubbornly rebuffing constructive criticism (or just ignoring it entirely) will not fly here. Further, keep WP:OWN ↗ in mind; you do not own the pages you are editing, so you must allow for other users' input on the matter - using the argument of "why don't you write it yourself then" will not work, because content inclusion is based on a consensus ↗.
:In 48 hours or earlier, you will be unblocked and allowed to edit again. I hope by then you are able to read and understand the points I made above, because if you do not, then there will continue to be further problems. You currently are a major part of making sure NFL pages stay updated, and I would really would not like to lose you as an editor here. Being an editor on Wikipedia entails more than just passively editing pages. Blocking you is a last resort, but it unfortunately has become the only way of communicating with you. <b><span style="color:#0d254c;">Pats</span><span style="color:#8f8f8f;">1</span></b> <span style="color:#c0001d;"><small>'''T'''</small></span> ↗/<span style="color:#c0001d;"><small>'''C'''</small></span> ↗ 04:19, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion
Your summaries could be alot better if you would not start each one with the same sentence ("Hoping to rebound..." or "Coming off the win over..."). See this summary here ↗ for a good example. :I also agree. I think your writing has improved, but the above suggestions would further improve the wikipedia articles. Check out week 9 for the 2008 Redskins season here ↗ as well. You contributed to this section and it came out fairly well. Also notice both examples fully write out "touchdown" (instead of "TD") and player positions (they use "wide receiver" instead of "WR"). This helps readers who may be unfamiliar with American football understand the article.
:Also, try not to end each game summary the same way ("With the loss/win, the Redskins fell/improved to X-X"). Just some extra suggestions. Thanks for considering my previous comments.

Once again, dont use "Indy" "Jags" "Pats" "Phins" "boys" or any nicknames in your summaries. They are not from a neutral point of view. Also, please stop adding totals to the linescore summary as you did here ↗. I've told you about this multiple times and you did stop for a while, which I appreciate. Also do not fill in 0s for the score until the game has been played. :Again, DO NOT add totals to the linescore summary as you did here ↗. They should not be filled in until the game has been played, adding zeros gives the mis-leading appearence that the game was scoreless. <span style="font-family: tahoma">'''<span style="color:black">black</span><span style="color:#B8860B">ngold29</span>'''</span> 02:42, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
'''PLEASE READ!''' Ditto with the above comments: try not to end each game summary the same way ("With the loss/win, the Redskins fell/improved to X-X"). Also stop saying kickers "nailed" field goals. This is in bad taste, sounds slightly biased, and is idiomatic.

:::I second the comment immediately above. The legidimate suggestions offered above seem to have been ignored. DO NOT start every single summary with "Hoping to rebound from the loss" or "So-and-so flew to ___" or bad grammar such as "got a field goal." Plus, please learn how to use the scorebox. It has a script in it that totals the score for you. Many of the summaries, as pointed out already, are not neutral POV, are campy, and do not hold up to the formal style they should be. In addition, it's one thing to be a heavy contributor, but with 32 teams in the league, you alone do not need to be the editor for all 32 team season pages. There are plenty of other very good editors who dedicate a lot of time to these individual season pages. I suggest you select a handful to concetrate on, and do them well, instead of doing 32 of them poorly. Doctorindy (talk) 00:44, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages ↗ and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts ↗ by typing four tilde ↗s ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button Image:Signature_icon.png ↗ located above the edit window. '''Update'''
- On March 26 ↗, 2009 ↗ an importance scale was added to the project's banner. The scale can be found here ↗. It would be greatly appreciated if you went through and tagged AFL and af2 players with on the importance scale. Also, the option of |attention= (Yes or No) has been added. Please see Template:WikiProject Arena Football League ↗ if you have any questions.
'''Needs'''
- Articles for the more popular and "star" players of the league need to be expanded, have citations added to them and hopefully we can get some GA's ↗ out of them.
- All articles on active players and coaches need to be updated with stats, news, and all things important. (Note: For stats it's best to use ArenaFan ↗.)
- Please help in re-assessing articles, as well as expanding them. We ↗ need to get to work on it and get as much done as possible.
'''Newsletter news'''
- As you may have noticed, there is a slightly modified look to the newsletter. I felt this would be helpful for those issues with alot of news headlines, etc. So I thought I'd tell you alittle bit about it. The top section is the "Table of Contents," as the name states. The '''ONLY ''' time anything else is to be included is when there is a '''BIG''' headline, such as the League's possible return in 2010, as above. Those headlines get their own special subsection in the Current events section. That is how things will be organized, also in the order they happen. Hope you enjoy it. If you have any questions or comments pleae feel free to leave them here.

I-85 rivalry
Please stop re-instating the logos onto this page. Those logos are not the logo of the rivalry, and there's no rationale for there use on that article. Thank you. --Hammersoft (talk) 21:17, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- I wonder, how many times do you plan on restoring the images to I-85 Rivalry ↗ as you did here ↗ in violation of policy? You've done so three times already, and I've removed them every time. You're wasting your time. --Hammersoft (talk) 14:10, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- And again ↗. Please stop violating policy. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 14:36, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
- And now you're doing it at Steelers–Ravens rivalry ↗. --Hammersoft (talk) 17:08, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- And again at 2010 Atlanta Falcons season ↗. You've been reverted, again. If you keep on insisting on violating WP:NFCC ↗ #10c, you may find yourself blocked. --Hammersoft (talk) 14:32, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

'''Firecats tuck tail and run?'''
- The Florida Firecats ↗, whos lease with Germain Arena ↗ expires at the end of this season, may relocate ↗. According to Firecats Chairman and principal owner Andrew Vallozzi, the team has received offers for a place to play in 2010 from several "major markets" .
'''No more monopoly ↗?'''
- On June 9, a Northern California ↗ judge allowed ↗ a class-action lawsuit ↗ against video game ↗ giant EA Sports ↗ to contiue. The suit claims that EA Sports "has and continues to engage in 'blatantly anticompetitive ↗ conduct' since 2004". And as the judge said in his ruling, "'As the court understands these allegations, interactive football software will not sell if it does not use the names, logos and other markers of teams that actually compete in the NFL ↗. There is, in effect, no market for interactive football software in a virtual or fictitious setting. If true--as the court must at this point accept--this adequately alleges that there are no substitutes for interactive football software without the markers of actual teams and players.'"
'''AFL players selected by UFL'''
- On June 19, the United Football League ↗ held its inaugural draft and three AFL players were selected ↗. Those players being; Steve Sanders ↗ by UFL New York ↗, and Larry Brackins ↗ and Brett Dietz ↗ by UFL San Francisco ↗.

- No, it's not an new indoor sports version of the popular card game ↗, sorry. However, on June 24, it was announced that the 2009 ArenaCup X ↗ would be held in Las Vegas, Nevada ↗ at the Orleans Arena ↗, the former home of the Las Vegas ↗ (now Cleveland Gladiators). It's the fourth time in the last five seasons that the af2 has held a neutral-site ArenaCup.
'''Break in the Fever?'''
- On June 25, Doug MacGregor, who has owned the team since {{af2 Year|2007}} and challenged by a shrinking fan base and revenue, stated ↗ he's considering folding the Tri-Cities Fever ↗ if he cannot find some local investors by the end of the summer. The Fever are the only team in af2 ↗ with a sole owner, though he has stakes in five other af2 teams, Corpus Christi Sharks ↗, Tennessee Valley Vipers ↗, Amarillo Dusters ↗, Peoria Pirates ↗ and the Boise Burn ↗, each of which also has a local owner or ownership group.

NFL game summaries
Your game summaries are boring and repetitive. Other users agree (see Talk:2008_Detroit_Lions_season ↗). Please read Wikipedia:Manual of Style ↗ before you write more of them. TomCat4680 (talk) 19:33, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
:Hey! I only tell what happened during the game. It's not every NFL game decides who's going to set a record or something! <small><span class="autosigned">—Preceding unsigned ↗ comment added by Alakazam (talk • contribs ↗) date</span></small><!-- Template:Unsigned -->
::I wasn't trying to insult you, I was trying to help. Be more creative, don't start and end every summary with the same sentences. Don't say "he got a touchdown" say "he caught a ## yard touchdown pass" or "he ran in a touchdown from ## yards out". Doesn't it sound more interesting that way? I strongly advise you read the manual of style I linked to above. I also think a thesaurus would be a wise investment for you. TomCat4680 (talk) 20:49, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
:::If it makes U happy, then OK! <small><span class="autosigned">—Preceding unsigned ↗ comment added by Alakazam (talk • contribs ↗) date</span></small><!-- Template:Unsigned -->
--Alakazam (It's been a long while since I last did a signature.)
I was just going to give you the "remember to sign your name" template but I guess you know how already. Happy editing. TomCat4680 (talk) 21:26, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
You don't need to begin every summary with "coming off a win" or "coming off a loss". Also, you don't need to end them with "with the loss they fell to..." or "with the win they...". don't be so repetitive, use your imagination. TomCat4680 (talk) 07:08, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
That's funny. I've been saying "With the win..." or "With the loss..." and all of those other things for years and no one has EVER told me to stop that. How many times must people critisize my work? Why can't people just know what happened?
--Alakazam
::Actually they have. If you had read Talk:2008 Detroit Lions season ↗ like I asked, it clearly says your summaries are extremely repetitive. These are direct quotes from '''others''' (not me) about summaries '''you''' wrote:
"Seems to be a lot of repetitions of the ilk of With yet another loss, Detroit fell to 0-#" at the end of a game report. It's clear from the start of the article that they didn't manage to win a game, so is this really useful?"
"Along with what the other person stated on this subject, once the summaries hit week 7, they just start using the a very similar starting sentence. It goes: Still searching for their first win Still trying to acquire their first win of the year Still trying to get their first win of the season Still trying to get their first win of the season Still looking for their first win of the season Still trying to get their first win of the season Still looking for their first win of the season Still trying to acquire their first win of the season Still looking for their first win Still trying to get their first win of the season. I mean, I think by reading the article that you understand that they never got that first win. Whoever wrote this was clearly lazy."
I have kept a lot of your edits but the intro and endings are what I have a problem with. After I'm done writing them feel free to add tidbits just don't change the beginning and endings. Deal? TomCat4680 (talk) 18:53, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
:Deal. Intros and Conclusions R all yours! --Alakazam

Al, per manual of style ↗, words that are NOT proper noun ↗s like "domed stadium" DON'T get capitalized. TomCat4680 (talk) 16:45, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
Just a quick comment on this topic; Alakazam, you really need to stop using "would" so often. Instead of saying, "Minnesota would take the lead in the second quarter", just say "Minnesota took the lead in the second quarter". The word "would" is a conditional term, and using it makes it sound like the summaries you write are actually predictions. I've already fixed your summaries at 2009 Minnesota Vikings season ↗, but it would be helpful if you could fix the rest yourself. – PeeJay 23:12, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Please be advised that per consensus manual of style of trademarks ↗, that it is written here as Fox, NOT FOX. TomCat4680 (talk) 03:31, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
:Hello, what part of that did you not understand? STOP writing it FOX. We write it Fox here. TomCat4680 (talk) 07:13, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

NFL linescore template
Others and myself have asked you this before, but I'll reiterate it again. When adding game summaries, please don't add the RT and HT tags to Template:Linescore Amfootball ↗, as you've been doing on 2009 New York Jets season ↗. The template does not need those tags to display the totals for each team. --Highway99 (talk) 05:26, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Seriously?
Ok, I appreciate your attempts to clean up my game summary here ↗, but I'm going to change back some of the things.
- First of all, you don't need to say coming off a win or loss...All the person has to do is scroll a little up the page to see.
- "Three game home stand"? what? Three straight home games sounds much better.
- The consolidation of the summary is good, but I'm putting back the halfback option play ↗ in the summary. It's not every day you see that, especially from Indianapolis, so it is fairly notable.
- I'm removing the word "would" from the article...not a good format. Not it "would" happen, it already happened.
- Indianapolis did NOT take the lead with Stover's field goal. That score made it 14-12, San Francisco. <span style='color: #FFFFFF;background-color: #191970;'>'''''The Arbiter'''''</span> ↗'''<span style='color: #B20000;background-color: #FFFFFF;'>★★★</span>''' ↗ 15:22, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello. Your account has been granted the "{{mono|reviewer}}" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits ↗ on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial ↗ scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed ↗ to articles placed under pending changes. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages ↗.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism ↗ or BLP violations ↗, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process ↗). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here ↗.

My Beef With All-Time Football Articles!
There's something I don't understand about these articles. Proposed deletion ↗ of :El Paso Rumble ↗
left|link=|alt=Notice|48px| ↗
The article :El Paso Rumble ↗ has been proposed for deletion ↗ because of the following concern:
<blockquote>'''Unsourced for over a decade, with no significant coverage to prove the subject's notability.'''</blockquote>
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons ↗.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary ↗ or on the article's talk page ↗.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process ↗, but other deletion process ↗es exist. In particular, the speedy deletion ↗ process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion ↗ allows discussion to reach consensus ↗ for deletion.<!-- Template:Proposed deletion notify --> Tutwakhamoe (talk) 21:40, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
