Infobox stats

Please note that we only include domestic league games in the infobox - so no Cup or Continental matches etc. Please also ensure that when you update the stats you also update the date, using <nowiki>~~~~~</nowiki>. If you have any questions please ask. GiantSnowman 10:56, 19 September 2021 (UTC)

Yes I do know that and I haven’t included any Cup, Continental matches, etc.

I’ll try and remember to include the dates though Ausfootballfan (talk) 11:03, 19 September 2021 (UTC)

Goalscorers tables

Hi Ausfootballfan,

Please note it is redundant to add a table of goalscorers on a page which already includes a table of "Appearances and goals", especially when it's directly after it. As you did recently on 2021–22 Brisbane Roar FC season ↗ and 2021–22 Adelaide United FC season ↗.
Kind regards, --SuperJew (talk) 11:26, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

:Hi SuperJew,

:I disagree with your view as the table of “Appearances and goals” doesn’t list the Goalscorers in order of goals scored like a Golden boot table for example.

:Kind regards,
:Ausfootballfan Ausfootballfan (talk) 11:30, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

::{{reply|Ausfootballfan}} The table is sortable - simply clicking the title of the goals column will sort it to be in order of goals scored. And please indent your replies with the : symbol so it is easier to follow the discussion. --SuperJew (talk) 14:48, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

Referencing tweets

Hey, thank you for the recent update regarding Dakota leaving Adelaide United. I appreciate you adding the source in the edit summary, even though you weren't sure how to add it to the page itself. I have added it now as you can see in this edit revision ↗. In future, you can add references to Twitter using {{t|cite tweet}}: "<nowiki>{{cite tweet|user= |number= |title= |date=}}</nowiki>" and fill in the values from the Tweet. In general it is recommended to have a more verifiable and reliable source than Twitter if it exists, and if it doesn't than to use a Tweet from a verified account, like you did here :) You can read the policy at WP:TWITTER ↗. --SuperJew (talk) 08:51, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

Transfers and transfer windows

Hi. In Germany – and quite a few other countries – the summer transfer window ↗ opens on 1 July. That means transfers announced now won't come into effect until then. Similarly, contracts usually run until 30 June. That means Connor Metcalfe ↗ will not move to FC St. Pauli until 1 July and our article should reflect that. ::::I don't disagree, but that's on the technicality side. I do see your point on the legalities (and honestly personally love them as I work in the regulations department at the bank), but from the perspective of the average reader and fan, the A-Leagues season is over and the club has officially bid him farewell. To be honest though, I'm just giving in another perspective about this but not really assed enough to edit war about it for 20 days. --SuperJew (talk) 12:38, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::I don't think it's practical to update all articles on the 30 June or the 1 July but right now, we're three weeks too early. Robby.is.on (talk) 14:15, 9 June 2026 (UTC)

Lachlan Barr

Please make your case at the article talk page. GiantSnowman 16:43, 22 June 2022 (UTC)

:I am still getting used to wikipedia so I don't know how to make a post on the talk page but I do have a lot of proof for my claim. Firstly Barr's profile on the Adelaide United website mentions that he played for Adelaide City, Metrostars and White City as well as the clubs he played for interstate and abroad. There is zero mention of Modbury or Campbelltown. If you look at his career, the only way he would've been able to play for those clubs is if he played for 3 clubs in a season which is impossible. This article on Barr talks about his career and there's zero mention of him being at Campbelltown or Modbury (Link here https://www.theinnersanctum.com.au/who-is-lachlan-barr-adelaide-united-injury-replacement/). Why? Because the Lachlan Barr at those clubs is a different Lachlan Barr. Even of you look at their stats online you can see that this Lachlan Barr (stats here: https://websites.mygameday.app/team_info.cgi?action=PSTATS&pID=206640423&client=0-10180-150513-577489-26636401) played for Adelaide City on the same weekends as the other Lachlan Barr was playing for Modbury (stats here: https://websites.mygameday.app/team_info.cgi?pID=207253559) Ausfootballfan (talk) 04:21, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

Current squad listings for football teams

Hi,

I see you reverted my edit on Central Coast Mariners FC ↗ to add Kasalovic and Tapp to the "Current squad" list. As has been discussed at length at WT:FOOTY ↗, players should be included in this section if they (a) have a first team shirt number, (b) have played first team football for the club in the past, or (C) do not have a number due to being new signings. There is also a view that players should be included in the team's online "current squad" list - which both Tapp and Kasalovic are (see here ↗). This is consistent with how other WP:FA ↗/WP:GA ↗ articles are formatted. So, fairly clear that consensus is to include these players in the current squad. Macosal (talk) 02:23, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

:Hi,
:I understand what you are saying but that doesn't fit the precedent set for A-League pages. Players who aren't contracted and are youth players have their own section for most A-League club pages. A-League sides add youth players to their first team squad pages as soon as they make an appearance even if they aren't actually first team players, like Musa Toure at Adelaide for example. Ausfootballfan (talk) 10:31, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

::Thanks for the response. However, the "precedent set for A-League pages" is presumably the work of one or two editors making their own calls for how they believe these sections should be set up. I'm not seeing any compelling reason why ALM squad lists should be dealt with any differently from any other football team's page. It's not our job to gatekeep the "current squad" lists based on individuals' ideas of how to set up these pages, when that contradicts how these squads are reflected by WP:RS ↗ and WP:FOOTY ↗ consensus. Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process ↗, but other deletion process ↗es exist. Maksim Kasalovic ↗ and WP:SPORTBASIC ↗

Hello. I read your note about this PROD and wanted to explain a few things. First, it is no longer true that every footballer who makes an appearance in professional football warrants a Wikipedia article. There was a RfC several months ago where it was decided to deprecate NFOOTBALL and replace it with a requirement that all biographies on sportspeople must have at least one WP:SIRS ↗ that counts toward WP:GNG ↗. Basically, we now need to find significant coverage in secondary reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article (such as a profile by a newspaper or magazine or an entry in a book). Entries in databases like Soccerway and match reports that simply drop the player's name (or indicate he or she scored a goal, received a caution, or were injured) don't count. Nor do press releases from the player's club or league. Most interviews with the player don't count, unless the interview contains detailed prose from the interview about the subject (as opposed to a set of quotes from the subject). In the case of Kasalovic, I can't find any coverage that it SIRS (just routine/trivial stuff like this ↗). As such, I'm going to nominate it for deletion, but I wanted to explain why. If you have questions or need help finding information about appropriate sourcing, I'd be glad to help. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 19:22, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Luka Jovanovic ↗ moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Luka Jovanovic ↗, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable ↗, independent sources ↗. <small>(? ↗)</small> WP:NFOOTY ↗ is no longer a valid SNG, so GNG must be met. It needs several refs from independent, reliable, secondary sources to pass WP:GNG ↗. It should have at least 3 of those. Please remember that routine sports coverage does not satisfy GNG, and that interviews, being primary sources, do not go to notability either. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability ↗ is of central importance ↗ on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace ↗ (with a prefix of "<code>Draft:</code>" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline ↗ and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hey mate do you have a source for this edit ↗ that Helweh, McKay, and Krslovic signed 3-year contracts? --SuperJew (talk) 06:25, 6 July 2025 (UTC)

:Hey, their Instagram post announcing the signings has the contract length. Ausfootballfan (talk) 08:16, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
::Great I added it :) --SuperJew (talk) 10:45, 6 July 2025 (UTC)

Tommy Smith contract

Hi mate,
Do you have a source for this edit ↗ regarding Smith's departure from Auckland FC? I didn't really know if it was the end of his contract or a mutual since the press release wasn't clear and his original signing announcement didn't list a contract length. --SuperJew (talk) 09:01, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

:Hey, this source from the Auckland 24/25 season page says his contract was extended by another season. Unfortunately it is behind paywall. Ausfootballfan (talk) 09:04, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

Melbourne City stats from Australia Cup R32

Hey mate, when you have the time could you tidy up 2025–26 Melbourne City FC season ↗ to add the stats from the Australia Cupset R32? Also I noticed there's no Overall record section on that page. --SuperJew (talk) 18:26, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm Yelps. I noticed that you recently removed content ↗ from :Ethan Cox (soccer) ↗&nbsp;without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary ↗. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page ↗. :Hello Yelps, I removed the redirect as there is no need for one. I then left a note on the Ethan Cox talk page explaining that I started a draft page but was unable to link it to the Ethan Cox page. Ausfootballfan (talk) 08:09, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
::Well, because linking your draftspace would be WP:XNR ↗, and thus not allowable. James McGarry nationality

Hi, following up after your revert re James McGarry's dual citizenship at 2025–26 A-League Men ↗.

As far as I can tell, the reference you are referring to for his Australian citizenship is a now-deleted Tweet which was in an edit summary a few months ago.

While it's possible that he does hold Aussie citizenship:

If Brisbane were to sign five other foreigners, that would probably support your argument that he is Aussie but until then I don't think we have enough to go off. This sort of thing (particularly when not reflected in the player's own article) should be referenced in the article itself, not just in edit summaries. Macosal (talk) 01:03, 13 September 2025 (UTC)

:Adding on to this, the Twitter user quoted (the original tweet wasn't deleted btw), posted himself now that he's not sure about McGarry's visa status ↗, so the previous tweet quoted is def not a reliable source we can use. Due to this, I reverted McGarry back to the visa players columns. --SuperJew (talk) 08:48, 9 June 2026 (UTC)

Newcastle in the A-League table

You should really learn how to not mess the formatting up for Newcastle when you edit the table. There is text there that you ignored AGAIN (twice just today) stating that you need to ''Update ACL2 result above whenever Newcastle changes position''. Its not hard. No live edits while the match is still being played

stop doing edits during matches, as you did today at 2025–26 A-League Men ↗. Wait until they are finished. There is honestly no hurry, and Wikipedia is not a "live score" or news service that needs to be up-to-date in real time <b style="white-space:nowrap;text-shadow:#500 0em 0em 0.7em,#ddd -0.2em -0.2em 0.7em,#bbb 0.2em 0.2em 0.7em;color:#500">Matilda</b> 12:26, 3 April 2026 (UTC)

:Are you referring to this edit ↗? Updating the "clean sheets" section which the edit won't be any different at the end of the match (goals won't be cancelled retroactively mid-match) isn't problematic. Live edits refers to updating score mid-match which could change by the end of the match. Something that won't be any different isn't an issue. --SuperJew (talk) 20:06, 4 April 2026 (UTC)

Joe Shaughnessy contract

Hey, I was wondering myself if to include the latest release that he extended his contract for the 2026-27 season, as he originally signed for 2 years including the 2026-27 season ↗. What do you think? --SuperJew (talk) 10:03, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Daniel Lazarevski

Let's not edit-war about it, but I'm trying to understand. I tried searching on Google and couldn't find anything about Lazarevski playing for Western United between his time at Melb V and joining Preston Lions. I tried looking for "dribl Daniel Lazarevski" couldn't find anything - what is this? is it paywalled or free? is it reliable and verifiable? Can you link it please?
What I do have is this Melb V press release ↗ that Lazarevski joined Melb V senior team and nothing since.
--SuperJew (talk) 14:28, 28 June 2026 (UTC)

:Dribl is the webiste/app that has NPL Vic, SA and NSW fixtures/results/stats etc on it. Here is his profile which shows his appearances this season
:https://fv.dribl.com/memberprofile?date_range=default&m=bd9pOwwMDK&season=nPmrj2rmow&timezone=Australia%2FAdelaide Ausfootballfan (talk) 01:25, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
::okay thanks for the link. seems fair, though I don't know about the reliability and verifiability of this site (though seems they're Partners of Football Victoria ↗, so I'm inclined to trust in it more than not). Do you have anything showing his move from Melb V to Western United? It should be included in pages 2025–26 Melbourne Victory FC season ↗ and A-League Men transfers for 2025–26 season ↗. --SuperJew (talk) 05:27, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
:::It's legit. Football SA, SAASL and Football NSW are partnered with them and many grassroots comps use it. But to answer your question, no. Ausfootballfan (talk) 05:29, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
