Deleted articles 2
As long as you are still willing and able to help me out when you have the time, this will be the continuation of my third and final large thread for restoring gaming biographical articles. :) While the first two threads dealt with some kind of draft, this one is not about drafts at all, but rather deleted articles. We did the first 12 already in the first part of this thread, which had all just been redirected instead of deleted. We had just started on the next grouping of 12 articles, which actually have been deleted, in this case by PROD or some sort of speedy deletion. Not all those speedy articles are recoverable, but we can at least see if there are enough sources to make them worth looking into. In a few cases we have surviving Internet Archive versions of the articles, but most did not make it into the IA.
Interrupting working on deleted articles first for one that I had forgotten about, which was redirected at AFD. I don't think I asked you about this one before?
David Kenzer ↗ AFD ↗ (redirected ↗) - game designer whose company, Kenzer & Company, is best known for the comic book series Knights of the Dinner Table, as well as for various role-playing games such as HackMaster https://rpggeek.com/rpgdesigner/2532/david-kenzer ↗ BOZ (talk) 11:08, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
{{od|1}} Hi {{user|BOZ}}. Here are sources about the subject:<ol>

<li>{{cite news |last=Zurawski |first=Luke |date=2003-03-27 |title=Gaming passion becomes a career |url=https://newspaperarchive.com/arlington-heights-daily-herald-suburban-chicago-mar-27-2003-p-39/ |url-access=subscription |newspaper=Chicago Daily Herald ↗ |id={{Factiva|dhld000020030404dz3r000b4}} }}<p>The article notes: " In 1978, most people had no idea what a "role-playing" game was. Certainly, when David Kenzer bought his first set of books for Dungeons & Dragons - the game credited with giving birth to the "RPG" genre - he had no idea one day he'd be the president of one of the best-known companies in the games industry. ... He got his start in the games industry 10 years ago. ... His proudest industry accomplishment is the company's award for Best Game of 2001 from the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design. The award was for "Hackmaster," a fantasy role-playing game named after the game played by the characters in KODT. ... With two engineering degrees from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and a law degree from Northwestern, the Kildeer resident is an attorney for Motorola in addition to his position as president of Kenzer & Company. His wife, Jenny is Kenzer & Company's CFO."</p></li>

The article notes: "This was a realm of sights more familiar to Rod Serling's "Twilight Zone" than to daylight worlds. David Kenzer of Kenzer & Co. picked up a bag of his firm's metal fairy miniature figures and announced: "These are 1 1/2-inches tall, made on an authentic scale of 1 to 1," he said. "We've done a lot of research, and this is the actual size of a fairy.""</p></li>

Another series that relies more on dialogue than action is Knights of the Dinner Table. (One of my Top 10 faves.) Essentially, it's the story of a bunch of friends who get together and play Role Playing Games every week. It's hard to believe that talking heads grouped around a table could be laugh-out-loud funny, but it is. The writers (Jolly Blackburn, Brian Jelke, Steve Johansson and David Kenzer, et al) have captured the gamers mentality to a tee. (And why not? They're gamers themselves.)"</p></li>

:Thanks, that does help. With the Appelcline source we now have two solid biographical sources, we just need a few more to build proper notability, but I can leave this as a redirect for now. BOZ (talk) 19:55, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
Regarding Bratz Fashion Party Fever Game ↗ (pinged here ↗), the only source I found that is not mentioned in the article or Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bratz Fashion Party Fever Game (2nd nomination) ↗ is:
- {{cite news |last=Brill |first=Pamela |date=2004-06-01 |title=Full House; Manufacturers ante up their trading card games with a new demographic: tween girls |magazine=Playthings ↗ |volume=102 |issue=6 |id={{Factiva|PLTH000020040609e0610000e}} }}<p>The article notes: ""Girls have tremendous buying power and are super savvy consumers," says Laura Waniuk, product manager, Upper Deck Entertainment. With this observation in mind, the Carlsbad, Calif.-based company is producing a collectible card game highlighting the Bratz, a brand from North Hills, Calif.-based MGA Entertainment that's already proven its success. Upper Deck leveraged its expertise, while providing itself with the challenge of appealing to a new market. "The Bratz Fashion Party Fever game is unlike any of our others; it's not competitive it's cooperative," says Waniuk. Upper Deck's game centers on fun and fashion, hallmarks of the Bratz brand. Players must work together to dress the Bratz in stylish clothes, getting them onto the dance floor before time runs out. To ensure a strong reception from devoted fans of the dolls, the company worked closely with MGA to mirror the Bratz's distinct fashions. According to Waniuk, Upper Deck constructed fabric insert cards by using real Bratz clothing, creating a seamless connection. Such attention to detail in the game has earned MGA's stamp of approval. The company's CEO Isaac Larian cites "a synergy with all of our licensees, including Upper Deck." The product will launch exclusively at Target in July, and Upper Deck is also exploring other retail opportunities at specialty and mid-tier outlets."</p>

A few years ago she got into designing games, drawn to them both as a creative outlet and as a way to alleviate any social awkwardness. Last year, she moved from Atlanta to Seattle, because here she saw a growing culture—she’s met several other recent transplant gamers already—and an unusual concentration of game companies. In addition to Wizards of the Coast, there’s Flatout, Calliope Games, and Funko, where Allyse now works as a game producer. ... In turn, conceptions of what tabletop games can be continue to expand. Allyse’s Wicked and Wise, a “trick-taking team game of dragons and mice,” reached its $9,700 Kickstarter goal in one day (and has now garnered upwards of $20,000). Her main responsibilities are helping with game design and development, along with making sure that games are sticking to their timelines. Fertessa has worked on several family-friendly games for Funko, but isn't able to disclose her projects just yet. ... Funko makes games for the mass market, so it's not the kind of role that most publishers have. However, there are opportunities if you know where to look. But Dean Essig's harrowing real-life ordeal — which left him and two buddies in the hospital with serious injuries — may have put him off flying small aircraft for good, his wife said Friday. ... This week's was the first extended flight Essig was making in his Cessna 195, built in 1949 and revered among pilots the way many classic-car enthusiasts admire the 1957 Thunderbird. He might see whether repairs are possible. ... Dean Essig is well known in the military gaming world for the 35 to 40 titles his company, The Gamers, has published in the last 10 years. The games recreate battles from World War II, the Civil War and Napoleon's era. Her husband grew up playing war games and wanting to learn to fly his own plane, something he finally achieved a few years ago, Essig said."</p></li>

Help finding sources?
Hey, can I ask a huge huge favor? Can you help me find sourcing for the article Dueling Analogs ↗? Without going into a ton of detail, I do have a connection with the guy who made the webcomic. I'm trying to find sourcing to make sure that it can stay up on Wikipedia. Eventually if we have enough I do want to try to improve the page and make it more comprehensive. The main issue is that there was a lot more coverage back in the day, however because it was a video game themed webcomic/site some of the places that covered it has kind of dropped off the internet as time has passed. You have a super knack for finding sourcing, so I was wondering if you could take a look.
You can absolutely say no if you want. I do not want to make anyone uncomfortable with this. The page is in no current threat of deletion, I just want to make sure that it's solid. I dunno if you do email, but you can drop me an email if you want more context. The guy and his family have always leaned more towards privacy so I don't want to go into too much. Draft review request: Alex Kasper
Hi Cunard. Years ago you participated in a 2011 AfD discussion ↗, where you noted that the article lacked sufficient independent sourcing but also stated that you had no prejudice to recreation if reliable sources could be found.
A new draft has since been developed at Draft:Alex Kasper ↗, incorporating a number of additional independent sources that were not present at the time of the AfD. As the subject, I have disclosed a COI and am seeking independent, candid editorial feedback rather than advocacy.
If you have a moment and are interested, I would very much appreciate your thoughts on whether the current draft addresses the sourcing concerns raised in the 2011 discussion.

Could you see if there are any RS for https://overgeared.fandom.com/wiki/Overgeared_Light_Novel ? I couldn't get anything in English sources. According to a passing mention in https://books.google.co.kr/books?id=jUZHEQAAQBAJ&pg=PT71&dq=Overgeared+korean+novel&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=1&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwis-c_D--KUAxVwUPUHHcd2JHoQ6AF6BAgJEAM ↗. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus|<span style="color:#7CFC00;background:#006400;"> reply here</span> 07:08, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
You are awesome
Hi Cunard, I just stopped by to say you are awesome and very much appreciated. Your research skills have saved a lot of articles, and I have learned a lot from you. There have been several times when I thought I'd done an exhaustive BEFORE, and then you arrive on the scene like a messenger of the gods and goddesses with a comprehensive list of sources that were not visible to me. Do you have special X-ray spex that allows you to see thru the covers of books and periodicals hidden deep in the stacks? :-) Well, just thought I'd reach out to share gratitude for what you do here. :Hi {{user|Netherzone}}. Thank you so much your very kind words about my research at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Robert Stokes (animator) ↗, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Franz-porcelains ↗, and other AfDs!
:{{tqq|Do you have special X-ray spex that allows you to see thru the covers of books and periodicals hidden deep in the stacks? :-)}} – I wish I did. ;) I shared my research process at User talk:Cunard/Archive 15#Research question. I find the sources through searches in many databases and searches engines and refined search queries when the topic is a common name with many false positives. It can take a substantial amount of time but can unearth many good sources if they're hidden there! :) Cunard (talk) 05:46, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
::Thank you for the link to your X-ray Spex Methodology for finding sources. :-) I appreciate it! Netherzone (talk) 13:46, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
