Edit reverts - please leave a message on the talk page

Hi Chris, I noticed you reverted the edits of Special:Contributions/58.165.174.211 ↗ earlier today, on the ScotRail ↗ page. I wanted to remind you that, when you revert an edit (particularly here which, for some, could constitute vandalism) you should always leave a message on the offending user's talk page. I have now done this, but if I don't respond in time, please could you do this yourself if/when this happens.
If you need to know what to write on their talk page, you can see what I've put on one of my subpages here. Thanks. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 19:37, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

Dnyaneshwar Vidyapeeth Edits

Hello DrChrisWilliams. Thanks for writing me back. I edited & provided some citations on that page. My friend has studied in that institute, & based on his sources, I added that information. Also the HC order, although invalidating degrees, have never mentioned institute as fake (I've attached court order in ref. section). To give complete background, I've added the background information & events surrounding institute. So I'll revert it back. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned ↗ comment added by 59.95.245.90 ↗ (talk) 09:00, 27 December 2022 (UTC)

Pending Proposal for Kessler Foundation

Hi. I see you’re a member of the WikiProject Medicine/Society and medicine task force. I’ve made a number of proposals to update the article about Kessler Foundation ↗, a charity that supports people with disabilities. Several have been reviewed but a few remain. The request is posted here Talk:Kessler_Foundation#Kessler Foundation Edit Requests – October 2022 ↗. I have a conflict of interest, and do the edits myself. Would you possibly have time to look at these? I appreciate your time. Dogmomma529 (talk) 20:13, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

:I've had a look for further coverage of the two cases that had been added to the page. In the first case, the source was a newspaper article based on accusations made by a disabled student. This case was also reported in other newspapers in 2019, but when the multiple complaints were looked at by Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) and were not upheld- the Decision Report 201810303 was published in October 2020. In the second case, a court roll reference on its own isn't external coverage and doesn't establish notability. I think these both fall under :WP:NOT ↗. Drchriswilliams (talk) 06:11, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
::You are wrong. The SPSO upheld some of the complaints submitted by the disabled student. It is written verbatim 'Some upheld, recommendations.' The judicial case involving the Italian national is ongoing. 86.178.181.143 ↗ (talk) 22:06, 26 May 2023 (UTC)

apologies for accidental authority control removal

Apologies for the accidental removal of authority control on the Torcuil Crichton page; I don't know how I did that while I was removing a stray word elsewhere. (In fact I don't know what it is, I'll need to look it up.) Best wishes, Iain Iaineditor (talk) 16:30, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
:{{reply to|Iaineditor}} thank you for reaching out, and for being willing to learn. Please accept my apology too. After I partially reverted your edit, I had later meant to leave a message on your talk page to offer further explanation- after I wondered whether you had inadvertently edited an old version of that page. I hope you will now be able to see at the very bottom of the current version of the page that there are links to a couple of international databases where Torcuil is listed (linked to ''Fo bhruin'', 2010). That's what the template does. Drchriswilliams (talk) 16:55, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
::Much appreciated; many thanks. Also, to elaborate on the 'thank' button I clicked earlier, thank you for among other things tidying up the references I introduced; I need to spend more time on learning how to format references in the best way. Iaineditor (talk) 17:24, 6 July 2024 (UTC)

Peace Pole Page

Can I know the reason for your removal of the link I added to the page about peace poles? I was one of the original contributors to that page 20 years ago. I was one of only two people making peace poles in the country back then. I still am the only one making institutional size peace poles. I was the one who originally added the text that I turned into a hyperlink yesterday. I thought I added it as a hyperlink originally, but yesterday I noticed the link was not there and added it again. Why did you remove it? Sighalot (talk) 22:23, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
:{{reply to|Sighalot}} A link to an external site which is placed in the main text of an article does not appear compliant with the guidance at :WP:EL ↗, especially where the link is to a commercial site and not a reliable source. Drchriswilliams (talk) 08:05, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
::Fair enough. Thanks for the reply. It has been many years since I contributed to Wikipedia and I am just figuring out how things have changed. Sighalot (talk) 16:57, 31 August 2024 (UTC)

Castle Grant Edit

Hi Chris, I am trying to edit the entry for Castle Grant but you have immediately reverted it due lack of citation. I am the owner of Castle Grant and am trying to update the inaccurate content on Wikipedia and delete the irrelevant references to Craig Whyte and Sergey Fedatov (now deceased). The Wikipedia page is feeding inaccurate information into Google - which is very unhelpful. How do I resolve this? I have no citation other than being the owner! If somebody wants to create a Wikipedia entry to Craig Whyte or Sergey Fedatov, they should do so specifically, not contaminate the entry for Castle Grant with irrelevant Gossip unrelated to the building. Hello Chris – thank you for your message. The clanbrodie.us website is no longer online and all links to it are therefore broken. I’ve gone to some lengths to locate and publish the original family tree/branch files that were originally linked to so that the links could be fixed here on the Clan Brodie Wikipedia page. The fixes that I posted are fully legitimate so could you please leave them intact? Thank you. BrodiePDM (talk) 20:53, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

List of Scottish Artists?

Hi Drchriswilliams I noticed you'd knocked out the names of two members of the Milne family which I had added. Fine, but I don't really understand this page? It actually seems to be a list of Scottish Artists for whom there is a Wikipedia Article? If that's the case, the first sentence is not very clear. Shouldn't it say something like, ' This page lists all Scotttish Artists for whom there is a Wikipedia Article' ? Which is not quite the same thing . . . Thanks ArchaicW (talk) 16:12, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
:{{reply to|ArchaicW}} There are different approaches to list articles across different types of topic, but I had removed a few recently added names that didn't have articles, nor sources. A quick search online confirms that the two Milne family members do have works that are exhibited and have been sold. There are various articles in which they might have a mention- for example :Landscape painting in Scotland ↗, which is currently has Good article ↗ status- after a checking exercise in 2016. :Scottish art ↗ is more of an overview and is also GA status, although last reviwed against GA criteria in 2012. :WP:ARTIST ↗ applies to articles, but there is more specific guidance for lists at :WP:LISTPEOPLE ↗. You might want to discuss content of the list on the :Talk:List of Scottish artists ↗ page or one of the project pages, such as :Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scotland ↗. Drchriswilliams (talk) 06:16, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
::Many thanks for detailed and helpful reply. Will have a look at all the pages you mention and possibly get back to you. I'm wondering if an article on the 'Milne family of painters' might be a good idea? It's really amazing that JM Milne wasn't on before. Many thanks, best wishes ArchaicW (talk) 10:41, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
::Dear Drchriswilliams Sorry it has taken me a few days to get back to you, concerning the introduction to the page ‘List of Scottish artists’. Thanks for your earlier comments above.
::The first thing I would say is the page should probably be renamed, to ‘List of Scottish painters’. An artist can be one of several callings, but a painter is a painter? But I think we will have to let that one go!
::But to return to the list, from what I can see having dipped into it, this seems to be a list exclusively of painters for whom there is a Wikipedia Article? In that case, I really think it ought to say that: As existing plus, ‘. . . for whom there is a Wikipedia Article.’
::Just a thought. Best wishes ArchaicW (talk) 15:35, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
