25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello and welcome to Wikipedia ↗. When you add content to talk pages ↗ and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as at Wikipedia:Help desk ↗, (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts ↗. There are two ways to do this. Either:
# Add four tilde ↗s ( &#126;&#126;&#126;&#126; ) at the end of your comment, or
# With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button 22px|link=Wikipedia:How to sign your posts ↗ located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you.<!-- Template:uw-tilde --> Theroadislong (talk) 15:02, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia! However, you should know that it is not a good idea to remove citations or information sourced through citations simply because a link to a source is not working, as you did to Fred Grandy ↗. Dead links should not be deleted. Instead, please repair or replace the link ↗, if possible, and ensure properly sourced information is retained. Often, a live substitute link can be found. Links not used as references, notes or citations are not as important, such as those listed in the "External links" or "Further reading" sections, but bad links in those sections should also be fixed if possible. Please take a look at the welcome page ↗ to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. <!-- Template:Uw-deadlink --> '''Graham'''<span style="color: green;">87</span> 05:17, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

In that case I had to replace it with an actual newspaper citation through The Wikipedia Library ↗ (which you will be able to access if you make 500 edits), because the link hasn't even been archived, but most of the time that shouldn't be necessary. 25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to :Eddie Murphy ↗ when you modified the page, you introduced {{cl|Unknown parameters|unknown parameters}}. Just because you specify {{para|some_param|{{var|some_variable}}}} does not always mean that variable will display. The {{para|some_param}} must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview ↗ button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a '''Show preview''' button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history ↗ of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk ↗ for assistance.

30px|alt=Stop icon ↗ '''You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war ↗.''' I updated the Naitonal Register of Historic Places reference with the actual document, I thought that was what the error message was referrng to but I'm not sure. I couldn't figure it out from the help page. Do you know what the issue is and if I referenced the document correctly? Elleng0523 (talk) 22:26, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
::can we move this discussion to the talk page of the actual article so everything is in one place? Thank you. Elleng0523 (talk) 22:28, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
:::Hello--I want to change the reference for the document # in the intro box but I can't figure out how to edit it. Ref 1 is incorrect and I want to remove it but I need to remove all instances of it. Ref 2 should be correct. I suspect hte error message is related to ref. 1. Can you tell me how to remove the reference? It's not like editing normal text. Please don't just remove it for me, I want to know how to do it. The number of the document is correct. I think it is a field and there is a list of fields and removed the reference field, but it messed up the whole formatting. thank you. Elleng0523 (talk) 23:40, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
::::Ref 1 only appears one time, so there shouldn't be an issue re: multiple instances. Re: how to edit it, the reference inforrmation is in the "reference number" parameter of the infobox: <code><nowiki><ref name="nris">{{NRISref|version=2010a}}</ref></nowiki></code>. It looks like this doesn't include the ID, so it just generates a link to the NRIS search page rather than an actual reference. It should work if you add in the relevant paremters: <code><nowiki><ref name="nris">{{NRISref|version=2010a|refnum=77000699|name=Bethesda Meeting House}}</ref></nowiki></code>
::::The cite error is because the reference named <code>:0</code> is invoked after the reflist. I'd recommend removing <code><nowiki><ref name=":0" /></nowiki></code> from the second external link; that should fix it.
::::I hope this helps, and I definitely get that learning to edit isn't always intuitive. Lmk if you have more questions :) Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈 ↗) 02:34, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
::@Elleng0523: there's no issue with including the ''information''. The issue is about copy/pasting from the source, which may infringe on its copyright. Please write in your own words rather than copying or closely paraphrasing ↗. Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈 ↗) 02:26, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
:::the first reference is what I want to delete, the 2nd reference has the correct informatoin. I am not seeing exactly what you pasted above but I'll try to figure it out.. I already reworded the text in the history section. Elleng0523 (talk) 03:55, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
