Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series ↗, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Jeff Fuller ↗ and Anthony Lazzaro ↗<!-- ([//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dablinks.py/2005_NASCAR_Nextel_Cup_Series check to confirm]&nbsp;|&nbsp;[//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dab_solver.py/2005_NASCAR_Nextel_Cup_Series?client=notify fix with Dab solver])-->. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. <small>(Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)</small>

25px|alt=Information icon|link= ↗ Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary ↗. Please do your best to '''always fill in the summary field'''. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. Sandbox

Please note that per WP:USERNOCAT ↗, your user sandbox page at User:Finn Shipley/sandbox is ''not'' allowed to be filed in categories as if it were a completed article — it may be added to categories ''only'' when it is actually moved into mainspace as a real article, and ''must not'' appear in categories while it's in sandbox. I notice that I and other editors have had to come back and disable or remove categories from the page ''four times'' in the past month alone, so I'm advising you that it's absolutely not allowed to be in mainspace categories — and that's not an optional rule that you're free to ignore or disregard, but a mandatory one that you can be temporarily or permanently editblocked for disruption ↗ if you continue to break it. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 05:12, 8 November 2022 (UTC)

:I note that once again, you have readded mainspace categories to your sandbox page ''two more'' times ''since'' my message last week. So, again, categories are ''not'' allowed to be on your sandbox page, and note that I will have to start considering temporary editblocks for disruption ↗ if I ''ever'' see it back in categories ''again''. Sandbox

Just a reminder that, as I already noted to you in posts on this very talk page back in November, sandboxy pages such as User:Finn Shipley/sandbox are ''not'' allowed to be filed in mainspace categories as if they were completed articles — categories ''must'' stay ''off'' the page while it's in sandbox, and may be added ''only'' if and when you're actually moving the content into mainspace as a new or updated article. This is not a ''suggestion'' that you're free to ignore at your own personal whim, it's an absolute ''rule'' that you ''must'' follow.

I note, however, that I have had to come back and remove the page from categories again, on ''three'' separate occasions, since my messages to you last fall. So I remind you again, '''no categories on your sandbox page'''. Bearcat (talk) 15:52, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Autopatrolled

right|80px ↗
Hi Finn Shipley, I just wanted to let you know that I have <span class="plainlinks">added ↗</span> the autopatrolled user right ↗ to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed ↗. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested ↗ on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers ↗.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject ↗ templates, stub tags ↗, categories ↗, and incoming links ↗ to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies ↗, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller ↗ yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Aoidh (talk) 15:22, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

Edit summaries

25px|alt=Information icon|link= ↗ Hello. Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia ↗. I noticed that one or more recent edit(s) you made did not have an edit summary ↗. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief ↗.

The edit summary field looks like this:
{{The edit-summary field/OOUI}}

'''Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make.''' With a Wikipedia account ↗ you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting {{myprefs|3|check=Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary}}, and then click the "Save" button.

Sandbox

Just a reminder that user sandbox pages such as your User:Finn Shipley/sandbox are ''not'' allowed to be filed in mainspace categories as if they were already finished articles — categories may be added to the page ''only'' if and when the content is actually being moved into a real article, and must stay ''off'' the page so long as it's still in your sandbox.

I note that I or other editors have had to come in to remove the page from categories at least ''11 times'' in the past year alone, and I also note that I have ''already'' pointed this out to you on your talk page on at least three prior occasions — so just a reminder that you ''must not'' place the page in categories, and there may be consequences if you continue not to listen. NASCAR Wikitables

Hello @Finn Shipley, I see you make a lot of contributions in ARCA and NASCAR articles making great contributions, adding the results in the race results wikitables, but if it doesn't bother you I would ask to you to update also the Total races in their infobox at the beginning of their articles because it is complicated to update every driver and then it becomes outdated again, so if it doesn't bother you if you will still updating race results wikitables then I suggest to update their total races too to make it easy for you, other editors and the readers of the article...so me and others editors can update the drivers that have their total races outdated and don't run regularly. Deletion discussion about Kory Rabenold ↗

Hello Finn Shipley, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Kory Rabenold ↗, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kory Rabenold ↗.

Deletion discussions ↗ usually run for seven days and are ''not'' votes. Our guide ↗ about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability ↗, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with <code><nowiki>{{Re|</nowiki>TartarTorte<nowiki>}}</nowiki></code>. And don't forget to sign your reply with <code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code> . Thanks!

Sandbox

A reminder, yet again, that user sandbox pages like User:Finn Shipley/sandbox are not allowed to be filed in article categories, per WP:USERNOCAT ↗. This is not an optional rule that you're free to disregard or ignore at your whim, it is a mandatory rule that must always be followed — but I've now had to remove the page from categories ''11'' times in the past year, ''twice'' in the past two ''days'', and I have already posted to your talk page ''four times'' before to advise you not to file the page in categories.

'''Do not file the page in categories'''. And this is the last time I'm going to be nice about it, as well: if I find the page back in any categories ''again'', I'm going to have to report you to WP:ANI ↗ for being disruptive. Bearcat (talk) 12:23, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

Stop adding former drivers to templates

Hi, please stop adding former drivers sections to multiple motorsport team templates, especially including junior racing team templates. They are completely unnecessary and just overkill for a template. The point of a template for junior teams especially is to display a brief overview of current, relevant information. With the amount of driver turnover in junior teams, having sections in a template for former drivers is just too much. SteeledDock541 (talk) 13:23, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

{{unblock reviewed |1=I've read the ANI and I now understand why I was blocked in the first place. I should have previously mentioned in the last request that I make edits solely on my computer and not on my phone, and that I usually make edits to pages fairly quickly whether its race results or statistics when they happen and are available (watching and editing at the same time, entry lists, grammar or whatever). Numbers

Hello Finn Shipley, first of all thanks for you work in keeping motorsports statistics up do date! I noticed in a few articles recently you changed a lot of numbers into fully spelled out words (i.e. sixteen instead of 16), in the MOS we have WP:NUMERAL ↗, which does say that numbers below 10 should be spelled out fully, but above that can be either or, so since such numbers already appeared to be consistently spelled out using digits it seems a bit unnecessary to change it. Since it's more of a matter of personal taste, I think it's rather similar to WP:ENGVAR ↗ where whatever was consistently used first should continue to be used, otherwise we'd just end up wasting time changing this back and forth since obviously people have different opinions. Just to let you know, otherwise keep up the good work! :) TylerBurden (talk) 21:00, 25 August 2025 (UTC)

Use <nowiki>{{BLP unreferenced}}</nowiki>

Hi. Thanks for finding all the motorcycle racer biographies that lack citations. Could you please use the <nowiki>{{BLP unreferenced}}</nowiki> tag instead of the generic <nowiki>{{unreferenced}}</nowiki> tag for any biography about a living person lacking sources? BLPs are in a special category and they will be dealt with very swiftly. (See WP:BLP ↗.) Cielquiparle (talk) 05:48, 30 October 2025 (UTC)

Redundant citation tags

Hey Finn, I noticed you put citation tags in a lot of pages, without actually checking if the content was referenced in the reference at the end of the sentence/section and I wanted to say that it's not constructive on your end to improperly use citation needed tags, as it also is a bit of WP:OVERTAG ↗. <span style="border:1px solid #A9E;border-radius:0% 0;font-weight:bold;background:linear-gradient(45deg,#A1E, #E49);color:#fff;padding:2px 5px">Road Atlanta Turn 5</span> (Talk) 09:43, 11 January 2026 (UTC)

May 2026

Hey Finn! Just checked some of your most recent pages and I think those were a bit premature to put into mainspace. I feel like they lacked notability in the form of secondary sources, as most were either primary or databases and said drivers only have selected late model starts, so i think it's also a case of WP:TOOSOON ↗ to warrant a page.

I'm also reaching out (again) because I've told you twice, in April and earlier this month, that not everything needs a wiki page, yet you still continue to publish pages that lack secondary sources or notability. <span style="border:1px solid #A9E;border-radius:0% 0;font-weight:bold;background:linear-gradient(45deg,#A1E, #E49);color:#fff;padding:2px 5px">Road Atlanta Turn 5</span> (Talk) 10:26, 14 May 2026 (UTC)

Hello Finn! I've recently just come across your Wikipedia profile, and I am more than impressed to see all of the many articles that you have published. I myself I'm very new to this space and pages like yours are really a motivation and sense of inspiration for those of us who aim to have a high level of knowledge and experience as you have. While I have my own personal Wikipedia guide, I would appreciate your guidance on exactly how to create a Wikipedia page, I've only ever edited so far, but I do feel like the continent I am doing most of my research on especially Southeast Asia could use more articles of their representatives in motorsport. Any guidance is appreciated, I remain impressed. MotorsportArchivePK (talk) 04:20, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
