Regarding this edit β†—: {{tq|I don't think your claim that the community did not respond to legally mandated takedowns seriously is not compatible with the facts of the matter.}} I'm not sure, but I think there's one too many negations for your intended message? Re: Vancouver monument

thumb|upright=0.4|Vancouver monument (2009) β†—
I took this photo 17 years ago. I believe that is the planet Venus above the palm tree. I also have a larger set of images of the monument, some of which might be better. Anyway, I think the monument was destroyed when they cleared the area for the new Hilton hotel across the street, but I don't know the full chain of events. It would be interesting to find out who made it and the larger history of the monument but most of that info is in newspaper archives. Thought you would enjoy the pic! Viriditas (talk) 21:49, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
:Oh, this is funny. I just learned someone created an article about the monument in 2015! I will add the image to Captain Vancouver landing site on Maui β†—. Viriditas (talk) 21:58, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
::You're right; I do enjoy that picture! It's beautiful. I love Thunderbird poles; I find it interesting how popular of a symbol they became of both British Columbia and Southeast Alaska. I can't help but wonder what people, a few hundred years ago, would have thought if they'd seen a Thunderbird under a palm tree in the tropics! I know art historians can sort of get judgy with modern totem poles, because they were commercial and therefore they don't view they as truly authentic and so on, but I love seeing how people change their art to make it survive. There was a Haida artist I keep meaning to write about,https://www.newspapers.com/article/anchorage-daily-news-ptarmigan-totemspe/197253060/ β†— who got some pushback when made some totem poles for an elementary school that had traditional Haida/Tlingit figures... and Japanese Manga! Which, as anybody who went to elementary school in Anchorage, will tell you is a big thing here. So yeah-- I just love seeing totem poles like these, around the world. Thank you so much for sharing <3
::And I loved reading about the history of the monument; thank you so much for overhauling the page, I learned a lot! GreenLipstickLesbianπŸ’Œ β†—πŸ§Έ β†— 03:58, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
:::A little bit of good news: I found the entire set of images of the old site in my photo archive. I am preparing to process them and upload them at some point this week. As for your 9 August SOS, let me know what I can do to help wrangle the set. Viriditas (talk) 21:48, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

Benedito Ruy Barbosa

Hi, there are 4 occurrences of "Barbadosa": do they have some significance? Other things being equal I would think they should be changed to "Barbosa", but I don't have the knowledge to do that. PaulBetteridge (talk) 11:26, 9 July 2026 (UTC)

:@PaulBetteridge Good question! The signifigance is: I wrote that section around midnight and I got it into my head that that was how you spelled his name. Goodness knows why! :p Man, I thought I'd Ctrl+f-ed my mispelling, but apparently not. Thanks for flagging, and thanks for the copyedits to the article in general; they are much appreciated. GreenLipstickLesbianπŸ’Œ β†—πŸ§Έ β†— 19:21, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
