Minor edit marker
25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi Imgeller! I noticed that you recently made an edit and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. "Minor edit ↗" has a specific definition on Wikipedia: it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections ↗ or reverting obvious vandalism ↗. Any edit that changes the <em>meaning</em> of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-minor --> <span style="text-shadow:#000 0em 0em 1em"><span style="color:#6a0dad"> ▶ I am Grorp ◀ </span></span> 21:22, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
:Since I am very careful about what words I replace I am surprised at this comment. Often there are words that are more specific and that's why I change it. Please send me an example so I can be more careful. Imgeller (talk) 22:20, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
:: I suggest reading Help:Minor edit ↗, which gives ample examples. <span style="text-shadow:#000 0em 0em 1em"><span style="color:#6a0dad"> ▶ I am Grorp ◀ </span></span> 23:09, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
:::Thanks. Next time if you send the example you felt was incorrect that would be more useful for me. Imgeller (talk) 15:02, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
:::: There was no single example. Here is an image with red markup: https://ibb.co/Zz5wmbWJ . I don't anticipate a next time. <span style="text-shadow:#000 0em 0em 1em"><span style="color:#6a0dad"> ▶ I am Grorp ◀ </span></span> 15:52, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
::::Hello - from your edits on the Guggenheim Fellowship ↗ article yesterday, I see you are still incorrectly marking substantive edits as minor. You're also lifting entire passages of text from copyrighted sources, which is not permitted; you need to state things in your own words. Funcrunch (talk) 16:10, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
:::::Hi there. Even though this message is old, I did want to address it so that you would know I was paying attention. I have been writing for a long time and am pretty well versed in what it means to paraphrase articles written from other sources and to make citations. As a newer editor in Wikipedia I am also still learning the Wikipedia rules. If I made a mistake I am truly sorry. The Guggenheim article was very exciting to work on and my desire was only wanting to give more important information. I thank you for helping me learn to do the editing in a better more efficient way. Imgeller (talk) 13:42, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
:Thankyou for your comment. Always trying to do better. I have checked into this issue and will do better on future edits. Imgeller (talk) 14:53, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
:Thank you for pointing that out. I have stopped marking things as a minor edit as I have received several pointers on that issue.
:As to lifting statements from other sources I will go back and check the Giggenheim article to see what you are pointing out. In general if I use a statement verbatum from another source I put it in quote marks o and or reword it. I'm sorry if I missed something. I will check. And again, since "minor edits" seems to be an issue frequently, I am no longer using it for the most part.
:Thank you for helping me become a better editor. Imgeller (talk) 17:48, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
:Was not trying to change the meaning of the topic. Just adding more general information. Thank you for pointing that out. No problem. Imgeller (talk) 20:11, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
Please cite your sources
Saying you got something from a website in an edit summary is not an adequate method for citing your sources. It should be inline, using <nowiki><ref> </ref></nowiki> tags. You can learn more at User:Nick Moyes/Easier Referencing for Beginners. I've repaired your edits to The Source (novel) ↗. <span style="color:#066293;">'''Schazjmd'''</span> <span style="color:#738276;">''(talk)''</span> 23:40, 31 August 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
30px|alt=Control copyright icon ↗ Hello Imgeller! Your additions to :Wiesel Commission ↗ have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted ↗ content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain ↗ or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible ↗ copyright license—''to request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission ↗''. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright ↗ and plagiarism ↗ issues. Here are the key points:
- '''Limited quotation:''' You may only copy or translate a ''small'' portion of a source. Any direct quotations ↗ must be enclosed in double quotation mark ↗s (") and properly cited using an inline citation ↗. More information is available on the non-free content page ↗. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners ↗.
- '''Paraphrasing:''' Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information ''in your own words''. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues ↗ and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing ↗. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources ↗ as appropriate.
- '''Image use guidelines:''' In most scenarios, only freely licensed ↗ or public domain ↗ images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons ↗. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria ↗; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide ↗ may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- '''Copyrighted material donation:''' If ''you'' hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you ''may'' be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials ↗.
- '''Copying and translation within Wikipedia:''' Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia ↗. For translation, see {{section link|Help:Translation|Licensing}}.
:Hi there. I am sorry for having missed your initial message. I did not see the message till today. I would never intentionally use copyrighted material without permission and without citations. I just wanted to make the article in Wikipedia better. Since I did it a short time ago and went on to other articles, I do appreciate you citing the line and I will go back and check what I did and the source material. I am still learning all the rules. I will also make sure to pay closer attention to the rules as mentioned above. I will be doing this today. Thank you for your notations and advice. Imgeller (talk) 13:35, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
Family
I saw that you added family detail to Abramson, and don't know what to do. It is unusual detail at an unusual place, - normally family comes more to the end of an article, compare Isaiah Jackson ↗. I am not at all sure that familysearch is regarded as a reliable source. I am sure that years in brackets need a space before the opening bracket. As it's late here I'll do nothing. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:56, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
:Hi Gerda. Thank you for pointing out those issues. I try to give a complete picture of the person who is the subject of the article because I am always curious. Since I am newer to this vocation in Wikipedia I may have inadvertently changed something that is usually placed differently, and for that I am so sorry. I will review the article today and check the guidelines to make sure it is adjusted correctly. Thank you too for offering a sample as a guideline. Imgeller Imgeller (talk) 13:25, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
:: You will have seen that you will need a better source. It's not your fault that the article has his marriage at a strange position, and the wording about "survived" towards the end is also unusual. Good luck, and thank you for your curiosity! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:11, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
:Hi there again. In going back into the article I see that all of my additions to Mr. Abramson's personal life were deleted. I feel like I should have been given the chance to shift items to a better format to serve Wikipedia standards. The citations I gave were valid. With regard to this man's personal life, his personal information is now again neither complete nor correct! In checking the many other sources to find the missing information, it became clear that the person who wrote that obit for the Times did not check carefully. For example, the wife listed in the wiki article is actually his second wife. His children are from his first wife. And these people have names. I will be checking format for inclusion of family facts later today. Thank you. Imgeller (talk) 14:15, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for your answer Gerda. Imgeller (talk) 14:16, 16 January 2026 (UTC)

Recent edit reversion
In this edit here ↗, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy ↗.
I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.
I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. <span style="color:#000E2F;padding:0 4px;font-family: Copperplate Gothic Light">S Philbrick</span><span style=";padding:0 4px;color:# 000;font-family: Copperplate Gothic Light">(Talk)</span> 00:56, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
