Participating more effectively at AfD

It's great that you are reading nominations of articles for deletion ↗. You have a fairly good sense of what should happen to a topic.https://afdstats.toolforge.org/afdstats.py?name=Niasoh&max=&startdate=&altname= ↗ Your recommendation, however, is almost always "per nom" or "agree with so-and-so". You are not alone in doing that, but it is an argument to avoid ↗. Those who close discussions often ignore such comments because the process is not a vote count but an exploration of different viewpoints.

You will have more influence in discussions if you explain your thinking. Some ways you could do this would be to answer one or more questions like:
# How did you search for sources and what did you find?
# Did you consider different policies or guidelines than those already discussed?
# Did you consider alternatives to deletion ↗?
If you're interested mainly in film-related topics, you might find it useful to study other editors' comments at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Film ↗. --Worldbruce (talk) 17:08, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
