Introduction to contentious topics

Marking edits as 'minor'

Hi Noah3500. I just noticed the deletion discussion at 2026 hacking of the Obama White House Instagram ↗ and checked the edit history of that article. I saw that you are its creator, and that you have tagged most of your edits to the article (not all, but most), as being minor. I'd advise you to take a read of Help:Minor edits ↗ -- generally, edits should only be marked as minor when they require no review and could not be the subject of any dispute. Just because an edit is a small change to an article, or small in scope (e:g, adding a reference, changing a few words), does not necessarily mean they should be marked as minor. It's not the biggest of deals, but, for example, this edit ↗, where you added a source as well as additional prose, should not be marked as minor.

It might be worth keeping this in mind in future, and it is acceptable to not use the "minor edit" tag if you are unsure about whether an edit would be considered minor or not. LivelyRatification (talk) 11:42, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
