Happy Easter ↗! - TFA -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:58, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
Thank you today for Bridge ↗, about "important structures that many of us use every day". Thanks to reviewers: @Anne drew: @Epicgenius: @ErnestKrause: @Generalissima: @Sdkb: and @Simongraham:. Key resources were located by WP:RX volunteers User:Bruce1ee, User:RFNirmala, and User:Rollinginhisgrave. I made heavy use of the new Veracity citation management tool, developed by User:Anne drew."! I am impressed by this work of many on a broad topic, and how you acknowledge the team work! My father loved bridges, and I wrote a few articles with that in mind, (Empress Elisabeth Bridge ↗, adding to Chain bridge ↗ and Müngsten Bridge ↗, the latter for childhood memory). and also thinking of bridges between people. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:46, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
I overlooked that Nile ↗ is pictured on the same page, brought there also by you and team, - your day today! - I brought two bios there, Christian Schwarz-Schilling ↗ and Bill Ramsey ↗- whose regular ''Swingtime'' I used to hear in the car driving to choir rehearsals. You are invited to participate in the '''Destubathon of the Americas ↗''', a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to £2000 ($2680) in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. FAQs
Thanks for your assistance in expanding the FAQ page and bringing it to its present state. It seems that the coordinators, like most of us, are quite busy at the moment.
What do you think should be the next step for the FAQ page? Should we consider any further additions, or leave it as it is for now? Best, MSincccc (talk) 10:03, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
:I think the coordinators may feel there are already lots of FA pages they have to manage, and they're so busy that they do not want to create any new FA pages. However, they might be willing to include the FAQ as part of an existing page ... that's less work for them, and more likely to happen. I'm wondering if the FAQ could fit in the FA Mentoring page? I suggest:
:# Directly ask a few experienced FA editors (on their talk pages) to look at the FAQ and suggest additional questions.
:# Improve the FAQ until it is top quality: copy editing, appearance, terse, complete
:# Make a post on the mentoring Talk page, and ask if editors object to including the FAQ in the mentoring page. Maybe propose putting it at the bottom, or within a collapsed section (or both). Adding the FAQ is more likely to receive support if it does not change the Mentoring page very much.
:# Add a shortcut to the FAQ on the right side sidebar of all FA pages
:Noleander (talk) 12:49, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
::I have followed the first two points by reaching out to multiple FA writers on their talk pages and doing some copyediting. I am thinking about whether to include a link to WP:FIXLOOP ↗ in the FAQ. I look forward to any further thoughts. Best, MSincccc (talk) 09:25, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Sounds good. After posting notes on Talk pages, give them a week to respond, they may be busy. Re link to FIXLOOP, that is a good idea. When adding anything into the FAQ, try to avoid duplication with Template:FAC-instructions ↗ - which is the top part of the WP:FAC ↗ page. If the FAQ repeats a lot of facts from Template:FAC-instructions ↗ that would be a reason to ''not ''put the FAQ on an official FA page (but some small duplication is okay).
:::Since a link to FIXLOOP is not yet in Template:FAC-instructions ↗, that means it is okay for the FAQ. Maybe FIXLOOP link (a new sentence?) could go inside the ''How many changes to an article are permitted during a nomination?'' question.
:::Note that the WP:FIXLOOP ↗ essay is eight years old and sort of famous, yet it in User space. So, even if your FAQ does not get put into an official FA page, it may still be useful and may become well known. Many essays stay in User space forever. Noleander (talk) 13:40, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
:::I added a Question/answer into the FAQ about FixLoops. Feel free to change it any way you want, of course. Noleander (talk) 22:05, 26 April 2026 (UTC)

Thomas Edison ↗
Hello, I reviewed your page and first wanted to say thanks for your massive contributions to the project. Over the last five years I have actively edited and tried to focus on GA. This past year Thomas Edison ↗ was promoted to GA. I am interested in promoting this to FA, but I have never done the process. I looked at some of the articles you have worked on and thought this might be of some interest to you. If you would be interested in mentoring me on the FA process I would be greatly appreciative. Czarking0 (talk) 15:14, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
:Absolutely, I'd be happy to act has a FA mentor ↗. I was looking at Thomas Edison ↗ last year when I was searching for Level 3 Vital articles ↗ to work on, but ended up going with Bridge ↗ ... glad to see you picked it up. How do you want to proceed? You could create a Peer review request ↗ for the TE article, and I could comment there (for the article itself); then I can also post notes in your Talk page. Or however you want it to go. Don't hesitate to ping me at any point if it looks like I missed a question from you. Noleander (talk) 16:06, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

A new tool?
My recent analysis ↗ of user comments at WT:FAC ↗ has followed what I have been considering, among other things, to be a new tool for English Wikipedia. The idea is that once a discussion is deemed to have reached an end, any uninvolved user should be able to call this tool to generate a summary of what each user said as a whole. The benefit is that multiple comments by a user can be merged to form a clearer picture of their overall thoughts.
Meanwhile, I have been busy with examination preparations, and I should hopefully be able to return to full-time activities by the end of the month when I'm free again. I look forward to your thoughts. Best, MSincccc (talk) 09:51, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
:@MSincccc That tool sounds like an interesting idea. When you have time, there is nothing wrong with proposing a new tool and seeing what the WP community thinks about the idea.
:Before you do that, I suggest you look in the FAC Talk page: there was a suggestion for a different tool a few months ago: here ↗ and also here ↗. That proposed tool would have solved the PEIS limit ↗ problem (where the FAC page was getting too large to display all the nominations). That proposal was to replace the full nomination transclusion ↗ with a brief summary of the nomination. One editor even created a prototype tool to do the job (the called it the POC = Proof of Concept). However, the proposal seems to have stalled.
:
:Sometimes Wikipedia communities are slow to adopt change, and new "big" proposals often face a lot of push-back. If you proposal a tool with limited application (example: only inside FAC) it is more likely to be adopted. But proposing a tool to work on ''any'' Talk page discussion ''anywhere ''in WP is a huge undertaking and unlikely to get consensus.
:Also: you will want to make sure that an automated tool can successfully generate a decent summary, before going too far with this proposal. Noleander (talk) 10:18, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
::The intention is to get the bot to work only on WT:FAC ↗ and, if successful, maybe WP:GAN ↗ later. But challenges remain- I've only programmed as far as schoolwork and mini-projects are concerned (I also don't have a GitHub account).
::Thanks for your response and hopefully the Nile will get its star soon. Best, MSincccc (talk) 10:57, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
:::If the tool will ''"generate a summary of what each user said as a whole"'', then another thing you can research is "closing statement" or "closing summary". See
:::* WP:Closing discussions ↗
:::* Wikipedia:Advice on closing discussions ↗
:::* WP:Closure requests ↗
:::* WP:Requests_for_comment#Closing_the_discussion ↗
:::These all give information on how to summarize a Talk page discussion, specifically in the context of "closing" a proposal or question. In many cases, no closing statement is required; but for important discussions with lots of debate, a closing statement will summarize the discussion. Noleander (talk) 14:05, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
::::Thanks, I’ll take a look at them when I have some free time and then follow up with any further thoughts. Best, MSincccc (talk) 17:20, 8 May 2026 (UTC)

Request for peer review help
Hello there. Apologies for the random message. I was wondering if you could help me with my current peer review ↗ on the Alice Tangerini ↗ article? I am debating on possibly nominating it for a FAC in the future, but I am currently uncertain about it. I am stuck with how to best structure and organize the "Career" section in particular. I completely understand if you do not have the time or interest. This type of article is outside of my comfort zone, so I have been trying to get as much help as possible with it. Even if it is does not end up as a FAC, it would still be nice to just try and improve the article as much as possible in general. I hope that you have a wonderful rest of your day and/or night. For a dozen years, black Americans made great strides: gaining the right to vote, and getting elected to federal and state offices. But in 1877, Jim Crow laws began to be passed in the South, mandating segregation. Blacks lost the right to vote or run for office. This set the stage for Booker T. Washington's ill-fated Atlanta Compromise."! - I brought King Roger ↗ to the page, 100 today. - Too more TFAs to come, I see, - that's great! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:32, 19 June 2026 (UTC)

A query
I feel that the time has come for me to nominate Fashion of Catherine, Princess of Wales ↗ at FAC. Do you think the suggested gallery should be addressed before nomination, or should I proceed and nominate? I'd welcome your thoughts. Thanks for all your feedback so far.
Best, MSincccc (talk) 08:32, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
:It is up to you. If you think a gallery would help readers, and other similar articles have it, then you should add it ''before'' the nomination.If you include a gallery, I suggest 3 or 4 thumbnail-sized images, so they fit in a single horizontal row (on desktop devices). The gallery is more likely to be accepted if each thumbnail image has a caption, and each caption has a citation. In other words: each image shows an outfit/item mentioned by a source, and that source is cited in the caption. Cites is not mandatory in captions, but will increase the likelihood that the gallery is welcomed by reviewers. If a reviewer objects to the gallery, have some arguments prepared for keeping the gallery (especially: a list of some other FA-status fashion articles that include galleries). But be prepared to remove the gallery if a reviewer raises a major objection. Noleander (talk) 12:57, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
::An example of a current FAC nomination that has a gallery is at WP:Featured article candidates/Laguna Miscanti/archive1 ↗. Two reviewers question whether the gallery is appropriate. Noleander (talk) 13:14, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
::Thank you for your advice and for the example FAC. I'll bear those points in mind as I move forward with the nomination. MSincccc (talk) 13:39, 21 June 2026 (UTC)

Advice
I have received additional comments from a reviewer and have addressed most of them. I would appreciate your advice on whether the article is now close to FA standards and if any areas still need attention. Best, MSincccc (talk) 16:00, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
:@MSincccc Regarding the Diana Fashion article? The only remaining task I'm aware of (and you may have already addressed it) is that about 10 days ago reviwer Whonting listed several potential sources that the article was not yet using. I replied on your Talk page at User_talk:MSincccc#FAC_review:_sources_listed ↗ suggesting that you should go thru those sources and reply to the reviewer about them. You don't have to ''use'' all the suggested sources (since some may not provide any new facts). But you should let the reviewer know that you examined all the sources and either (a) used them in the article; (b) read them, but they had no new facts; or (c) cannot access them. Other than that, the article should be fine for FA. Noleander (talk) 17:24, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for your comments. I’ve addressed most of Whonting’s recent points, but I would appreciate your advice on his latest batch of comments before I proceed further. Best, MSincccc (talk) 17:40, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
:::I suggest continuing to engage in dialog with the reviewer. I have not studied their comments in detail, but you should read their comments carefully, and reply them in detail. If they are suggesting any sort of changes to the article, you should consider making the changes (unless the sources do not support the change, in which case you should explain that to the reviewer, perhaps with quotes from the sources). Sometimes it takes a few weeks of dialoging with a reviewer until they are satisfied. Noleander (talk) 17:53, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
::::Thanks for your advice. Best, MSincccc (talk) 03:36, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
::::I’ve addressed most of Whonting’s comments, but they’ve indicated they will return after some structural issues are resolved, including the thin background section and expanding on the wedding dress. You can find more details in this comment ↗. I’d appreciate your thoughts when you have a moment. Best, MSincccc (talk) 15:25, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
:::::I think it is best if you deal with it on your own. One of two things will happen: (a) you continue dialoging, and the reviewer will eventually provide a Support opinion or no opinion. Or (b) they will give an Oppose opinion. If they give an Oppose opinion, you can post a note in the review addressed to the FAC coordinators: in that note, you can explain why you feel the reviewer is mistaken. If your logic is sound, and you provide a few sources to back-up your reasoning, the closing coordinator can still promote the article to FA status in spite of the Oppose opinion. If the coordinator instead archives the nomination, you can re-nominate it after 2 weeks. If you re-nominate it, you should mention the Oppose issue (at the top of the new nomination page) and explain why you think the Oppose was not sensible (and, if applicable) describe any changes you made to the article since the prior nomination. Noleander (talk) 15:34, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
::::::I really appreciate all the assistance you've provided throughout this process — it’s meant a lot.
::::::Thanks, and I look forward to your next big article. MSincccc (talk) 16:13, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
::::::And now I have got another oppose here ↗.
::::::Thoughts ? MSincccc (talk) 17:59, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
:::::::You'll need to go thru the reviewers comments and address them one at a time. I see the reviewer wrote:
:::::::: "... this article on Catherine's fashion has made it ''this'' far without a ''single'' mention of the analysis Elizabeth Holmes (writer) ↗. She has written a ''The New York Times ↗'' best-selling book on Catherine's fashion, ''HRH: So Many Thoughts on Royal Style'' "
:::::::As I've mentioned several times to you, you ''must'' ensure that every significant source has been considered and included in the article, ''before'' nominating. You know that already. Sometimes, if a reviewer identifies new sources, you can incorporate them in the article ''during ''the nomination. You know that already. If you want to take more time to add sources, you can withdraw the nomination, incorporate the new sources, then re-nominate. You know that already. This is only the first nomination attempt, so it may still succeed, perhaps in a subsequent nomination. Some articles take 4 nominations before they are promoted to FA. Pre-FAC comments for Eunos MRT station ↗?
Hi Noleander, I was wondering if you could give some feedback on Eunos MRT station ↗, particularly concerning prose/MOS stuff? I'd like to nominate it for FAC, but it's my first time doing so. Also, nice work on Dam ↗! '''Icepinner''' (Come to Hakurei Shrine!) 11:42, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
:@Icepinner - Why don't you create a new peer review for the article and I'll put my comments in the peer review? Or i can comment in the article talk page... your choice. But it might be wise to have a formal peer review done before FAC. Noleander (talk) 11:51, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
::Good idea. I've put the article up for PR ↗. Feel free to leave your comments there. '''Icepinner''' (Come to Hakurei Shrine!) 12:39, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

Re. Article structure
I hope you're doing well.
I've continued engaging with the reviewers as you suggested. I have reworked the structure of the background and '''Fashion and style''' sections to address the concerns raised, and I would appreciate your thoughts on whether they are now in a good place or if any areas still need attention.
Thanks again for your assistance.
Best, MSincccc (talk) 08:36, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
:I see there are several supports, which are promising. One reviewer looks like they had an Oppose several days ago. As long as you continue addressing their issues, that may be OK... FAC coordinators may ignore an oppose if lots of discussion follows it.
:You may want to consider adding a new comment to the end of that one reviewer's subsection, in that comment, summarize or list all the changes you've made to the article since the oppose note was made. Right now that particular review is very long, confusing and hard to read, but if you add a clear summary that lists all improvements since the Oppose, that may help coordinator make a decision. That is just a suggestion. Alternatively, continue addressing their issues one at a time. Noleander (talk) 09:41, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
::User Whonting's primary concern was that the '''Fashion and style''' section lacked a clear organising principle. I have therefore reworked the paragraphs to follow a more coherent progression.
::If you have a moment, I would appreciate your thoughts on whether the section now reads clearly or if any further structural changes are needed. MSincccc (talk) 09:57, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
