'''Weekly highlight'''
- The Abstract Wikipedia team has identified five potential pilot wikis to assess their interest in adopting abstract articles on their wikis. The pilots are Malayalam, Bengali, Dagbani, Arabic, and Indonesian Wikipedia. The feedback period will be open until May 22. If your community is interested in becoming a pilot, let us know on Meta β.
'''Updates for editors'''
- An experiment to show Reading Lists β to logged-out readers on mobile web will launch on May 18 across German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Dutch, Turkish, and Urdu Wikipedias, and will run for one month. The effort supports broader goals of helping readers save and organize articles for later reading, while encouraging habits that could lead to future Wikipedia contributions.
- To support a bookmark button in the Reading List beta feature, the "Tools > Action" menu has been updated to display icons, including the watch star indicator that helps editors identify temporarily watched articles. The icons now also match those used on mobile, improving consistency across platforms. The change is currently limited to the actions menu and mainly affects editors with privileged user rights. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T426008 β
- Suggestion Mode β was released as an A/B test β for newcomer editors on the mobile website at ~15 Wikipedias β. The experiment will measure the impact that Suggestion Mode has on the proportion of newcomer mobile web edit sessions that result in constructive (un-reverted) article edits. The experiment will also evaluate the feature's impact on editor retention, and monitor changes in revert and block rates.
- 12px|link=|class=skin-invert|Recurrent item β View all {{formatnum:27}} community-submitted {{PLURAL:27|task|tasks}} that were resolved last week β. '''Updates for technical contributors'''
- The Wikidata Platform team β has published its backend replacement recommendation β and accompanying technical architecture β for the migration of the Wikidata Query Service (WDQS) away from Blazegraph. Feedback is invited until May 25th 2026, especially on potential gaps and impacts on advanced use cases. Wikidata community members and WDQS users are also encouraged to help identify high-impact tools and workflows that may need attention on this page β. Feedback can be shared on the Migration talk page β or during the next office hour β. See the WDP team newsletter β for more details.
- 12px|link=|class=skin-invert|Recurrent item β Detailed code updates later this week: MediaWiki β
'''In depth'''
- On English, French, Japanese, and a few other Wikipedias, there was a trial of hCaptcha β, a third-party bot detection service. The trial showed that hCaptcha effectively detects and deters some bad-faith automated activity, on its own and by giving checkusers and stewards β signals to look into. Because the results were positive, hCaptcha will be rolled out across all wikis over the next few weeks. See the hCaptcha project page β for technical information about the implementation and privacy protections. Learn more β.
- The latest Community Tech update is now available, with progress across several Community Wishlist initiatives, including Reading Lists expansion from the mobile app to the website, new language support for "Who Wrote That" and the Personal Dashboard, improvements to 3D rendering and Charts, and upcoming work on talk page sorting, audio playback, and editing workflows. The update also shares current priorities, wishlist status trends, and opportunities for community feedback on future focus areas and the Wikimedia Foundationβs 2026β2027 Annual Plan. ::You're welcome, and don't feel too bad about it. It's an easy mistake to make (after all, you can revert ''most'' edits you disagree with no problems, so I can see how one would think it's the same with closes). Chess enjoyer (talk) 02:43, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
:::Well, now I'm a little confused. ::::{{ping|CycloneYoris|p=}}, you should not have done that. You're not an administrator, and relisted discussions do not have to run for 7 more days. Reverting closes like that is a violation of WP:REOPEN β. Chess enjoyer (talk) 17:37, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
:::::{{re|Chess enjoyer}} Uhh, what? I certainly do not need to be an admin to revert someone's inappropriate closes, and I had the right to do so in this case since I was the editor who relisted those discussions. I've been performing administrative tasks in RfD since 2020, so I'm perfectly aware of the closing and relisting guidelines (and the fact that I'm not an admin is completely irrelevant). <small><b style="color:blue; text-shadow:cyan 0.0em 0.0em 0.1em;">CycloneYoris</b></small> <b style="color:purple">''talk!''</b> 18:19, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
::::::{{tq|I certainly do not need to be an admin to revert someone's inappropriate closes}} β Except you do? Relisting a discussion does not give you any power over when it's closed. Chess enjoyer (talk) 18:25, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
:::::::{{tq|Relisting a discussion does not give you any power over when it's closed.}} Yes, it does, since I was specifically asking for more input (which is why both closes were inappropriate and premature). REOPEN does not apply since closing both discussions as "no consensus" was inappropriate. I have seen a discussion get relisted only to immediately get closed without any further comments before. {{tq|REOPEN does not apply since closing both discussion as "no consensus" was inappropriate.}} β according to what policy or guideline? If you think ignoring the rules β is appropriate, that's different, but you probably should have noted that in your edit summary or in a comment. Otherwise, the right thing to do is discuss your concerns with closer on their talk page, and go to WP:DRV β if necessary. Chess enjoyer (talk) 18:50, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::{{tq|As I have already said, relisted discussions do not have to run for another 7 days.}} I'm perfectly aware of this. {{tq|I have seen a discussion get relisted only to immediately get closed without any further comments before.}} I'm certain that none of those discussions had a relisting comment asking for more input on the matter. I'm not sure why you seem to be ignoring the fact that a "no consensus" close was inappropriate in both instances. I haven't ignored any rules, and I did note on both edit summaries that their closes were premature. I've also already addressed my concerns on the closer's talk page. See: User talk:Dafootballguy#Closing relisted discussions, which they haven't even replied to. <small><b style="color:blue; text-shadow:cyan 0.0em 0.0em 0.1em;">CycloneYoris</b></small> <b style="color:purple">''talk!''</b> 19:10, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::{{tq|I'm not sure why you seem to be ignoring the fact that a "no consensus" close was inappropriate in both instances.}} β You're right, I should have said this sooner: I don't think the closes were good. The discussions had very minimal participation, so it was appropriate to relist them a second time, and I don't get the rush to close them as "no consensus". What I disagree with is the way you went about challenging the closes. By unilaterally reverting the closes, you directly violated (or {{tq|ignored}}) WP:REOPEN β, which is very clear on this. I guess there's no need for me to be overly bureaucratic β about it, though. I'm glad that you left a message on the closer's talk page. If they agree that the closes were inappropriate and that they should have been reversed, then all's good. Chess enjoyer (talk) 19:41, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::{{tq|Not being an administrator has absolutely nothing to do with this}} β Again, this is important because non-administrators should not be unclosing discussions. Chess enjoyer (talk) 18:54, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::Non-administrators shouldn't inappropriately close discussions either, and both closes were classic WP:BADNAC β cases. <small><b style="color:blue; text-shadow:cyan 0.0em 0.0em 0.1em;">CycloneYoris</b></small> <sup><b style="color:purple">''talk!''</b></sup> 19:14, 22 May 2026 (UTC)

Regarding the "Epstein didn't kill himself" article
About a week ago, you reverted my edit requesting sources for the phrase being a conspiracy theory phrase. Your reasoning was that I was requesting sources in the lead, while sources are typically given in the body paragraphs. This is typically true, but there are two reasons that I think this is an exception:
1) The labeling of the phrase as a conspiracy theory, completely separating it from factual analysis and only viewing it through the lens of popularity, is extremely controversial. According to polls that can be found online (example: https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/article/poll-nearly-70-of-americans--including-a-majority-of-republicans--think-the-government-is-hiding-something-about-jeffrey-epstein-182016874.html), under a quarter of Americans believe that Epstein died by suicide, while about half believe he was murdered and about 30% aren't sure. Even if the phrase is a conspiracy theory, it isn't anything along the lines of "flat earth" or "lizard people", since the vast majority of Americans either believe it or are willing to consider it. Citations to back it up are absolutely necessary.
2) The phrase being a conspiracy theory isn't backed up by the body paragraphs at all. The phrase "conspiracy theory" isn't even used outside of the lead section, and no evidence against the phrase being true is given anywhere in the entire article. In fact, the body paragraphs give a lot of evidence in ''favor'' of the phrase being true. Checking the article's history, the phrase "conspiracy theory" was inserted by one user in February 2026, and wasn't there from the beginning. There's a very clear mismatch between the "conspiracy theory" treatment of the first paragraph in the lead and the actual contents of the body paragraphs.
I think that "conspiracy theory" should either be cited and evidence given in the body paragraphs or just flat out removed. PsyKat777 WasTaken (talk) 14:48, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
:You should definitely put this on the talk page of the article. I don't do much work in that stuff, I only watch the page for reverting (real or perceived, to me) disruptive edits. π« <span style="color:maroon;">'''Crash // Organhaver'''</span> (β''itβ/βhe''β|β''<span style="color:darkred;">talk to me, maybe?</span>''β) 15:34, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

'''Weekly highlight'''
- Following a successful account creation experiment β, an improved logged-out edit warning message will be deployed to all Wikimedia wikis in the first week of June. The change will only affect logged-out users on mobile web who open an editing session. The updated experience is designed to encourage account creation more clearly, while still allowing users to edit with temporary accounts. Results from the experiment showed a significant increase in account creation, with a 27% relative lift among users shown the updated message. As expected, as more people funnel into account creation, temporary accounts decreased by a relative 16%. The experiment did not show any significant changes in constructive edit rates or other monitored contributor metrics. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T424595 β
'''Updates for editors'''
- For security reasons, members of certain user groups are required to have two-factor authentication β (2FA) enabled. Members of these groups will be unable to disable the last 2FA method on their account, and it will be impossible to add users without 2FA to these groups. Users will still be able to add new authentication methods or remove them, as long as at least one method is continuously enabled. In the next few weeks, users without 2FA will be removed from these groups. Notably, this applies to bureaucrats. See the linked tasks for deployment schedules. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T423119 βhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T423120 β
- WMDE Technical Wishes β will run an A/B test β on 10 wikis β, testing potential improvements for Reference Previews β. The experiment will run for ~2 weeks at the end of May / beginning of June and will affect 10% of desktop readers on the participating wikis.
- After two successful experiments, the Reader Growth team is rolling out an Image Browsing β beta feature for all Wikipedias on mobile on May 25. This means that anyone who has all beta features on by default will start to see this feature, and others can check the box to turn it on in their preferences. The beta feature will include a carousel of all an article's images at the top of the article, with controls for editors to exclude images from the article's carousel or to exclude an article from the feature entirely β.

Removal of Genderless people
Hello!
I disagree with your removal of genderless people from the agender page, genderless does not have its own page, with agender covering that, so agender people should go in that category in my opinion. I also included the public universal friend based on that same idea, as an early genderless person they could be included in that section.
Thank you! Pencilceaser123 (talk) 03:17, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
:Also want to add the images you added for people are really cool! Its a great idea to include a traditionally masculine looking and traditionally feminine looking person to the section Pencilceaser123 (talk) 03:32, 29 May 2026 (UTC)

Article copies
To answer a question you {{diff||1357171296|label=asked}} at this MFD β I just closed, policy ''does'' make a difference between copying an article to a user subpage and a draft. Agender good article nom and userbox request
hello! How are you doing. thanks for your help on the agender page. I have nominated it for good article after doing a ton of work to try and make it meet the criteria. Maybe you could make some comments on the review or something?
also: is there any chance you could make some userbox that says something along the lines of "this user has never stated their preferred pronouns on wikipedia and doesn't intend to" like better worded and hopefully not using "their" in it. Just for fun and to make my profile kinda genderless or something. Thanks! Happy pride month. Pencilceaser123 (talk) 00:20, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! I don't work with good article reviews or anything like that, but I'll certainly check it out! Probably won't make any comments. For your userbox request, I'll make that as soon as I can (I currently cannot use my original computer I typically have to edit Wikipedia, and everything's been... a little weird with that). Hello, iβm trying to upload personal pictures to make my momβs professional career in wikipedia. These pictures were taken around 1952-53. I tried to upload them but i got the message that i cannot do that, why? --BeaFleming (talk) 19:45, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
:That's because ,generally, private, unpublished materials such as correspondence or photographs cannot directly be used in a Wikipedia article, '''but''' if you wish to donate images you need to first understand the possible licensing - Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials#Donating your photographs β. Also, take a look at the following instructions:
:To use a picture on Wikipedia, we need permission from whoever owns it.
:*If it is your OWN picture - then you can just upload it yourself, at "Commons", saying "It is entirely my own work" - at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Upload .
:*If it is NOT YOURS, then the owner can give permission in two ways;
:*A) They could put it on a website (flickr, or their own site) with an appropriate licence, such as "Public Domain" or "Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike" (that is an option in flickr)
:*B) They could email us permission. You could ask them to do that, by sending them an email saying something like "Hi, I've written a page on Wikipedia, and I'd really like to add a picture - but as Wikipedia is FREE, we can only use freely-licenced pictures. If you have any which you can give permission for, please send me an email back with the text below, and the picture(s) attached."
:-Then add a copy of this: http://enwp.org/user:chzz/help/myboilerplate (having filled the form out)
:-And send the email (attached picture file + completed form) to: permissions-commons@wikimedia.org
:Hope that all makes sense. - Shearonink (talk) 20:20, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
::Thank you for your reply.
::I was going to write the article about my momβs career so I would be the owner or author. But the photos were not taken by me, I wasnβt even born in 1952-53. Everyone from that generation has now passed away so has the photographer I pressume. And that event took place in Montevideo, Uruguay. So, I guess I wonβt be writing anything if I cannot upload pictures of my mom.
::Again, thank you. BeaFleming (talk) 20:38, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
:::Oh, please don't give up. Wikipedia ia a big place and sometimes I can barely find my own way around and I've been editing since 2010! I've left some "Welcomes" on your user talk page. - Wikimedia Enterprise has increased the free usage limits for its API offerings. The monthly request limit for the On-demand API has increased from 5,000 to 50,000 requests, while the Snapshot API limit has increased from 15 to 30 requests per month. In addition, Structured Contents snapshots are now available for free accounts. These changes expand access to Wikimedia Enterprise data for developers, researchers, and organizations using Wikimedia content. https://enterprise.wikimedia.com/blog/enhanced-free-api β
'''Updates for editors'''
- The refreshed Explore Feed β, now called the Home Feed, is rolling out to 50% of users of the Wikipedia Android app. The Home Feed helps readers discover relevant content through two new tabs: ''Community'' and ''For You''. The Community tab provides a scrollable feed of curated content and updates from the broader Wikimedia community and movement, while the ''For You'' tab offers a full-screen, swipeable experience that shows content tailored to a user's interests. The redesign is part of a broader effort to improve discovery and enhance the learning experience in the Wikipedia app.
- The Which came first? β daily trivia game is now available in the beta version of the Wikipedia iOS app in English, German, French, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, and Turkish. The game uses historical events from Wikipedia's "On This Day" content and challenges readers to guess which of two events happened first. The game was previously released on Android. Communities interested in making the game available in their languages can read the instructions and requirements β.
- Sub-referencing β, a new MediaWiki feature that allows editors to reuse references with different details, will begin rolling out to Wikimedia wikis following a successful pilot phase. Deployment will start on 8 June for most Group 1 wikis β and French Wikipedia, with additional Wikipedia language editions receiving the feature over the coming months. Communities are encouraged to prepare by checking for untranslated Cite extension messages β in their language and reviewing any use of Reference Tooltips β, which may require updates β to support the new functionality. Wikis using Reference Previews β do not need to take any action. Communities may also wish to create the ''cite-tracking-category-ref-details'' tracking category β as a hidden category using <code><nowiki>__HIDDENCAT__</nowiki></code> (or a dedicated template), and connect it to the corresponding Wikidata item d:Q129764848 β. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T425662 β
- The Page Previews experiment β on mobile web has concluded. The team decided not to roll out the feature after the results showed no statistically significant impact on reader retention, as the primary success metric was retention improvement. Page Previews, which are already available on desktop and in the apps, display a thumbnail, lead paragraph, and link to the full article when readers tap a blue link. The experiment tested this experience on mobile web across six Wikipedias.
- The user interface icon library β will be updated later this week or next week β. Most of the ~300 icons have been slightly refined and ~30 new icons have been added. These changes improve the icons to make them more consistent and comprehensible, and provide more visual balance when they are used in groups.
- The Universal Language Selector β (ULS) interface in MediaWiki, which helps users select content in other languages, has been updated. The new version improves speed and accessibility, and users of Wikimedia projects can now pin languages for quicker language switching. The deployment to Wikimedia sites will happen gradually in the coming weeks. You can test it now as a beta feature by selecting beta features β in your profile preferences and share your feedback on the project page β.

'''Updates for technical contributors'''
- The function signature for <bdi lang="zxx" dir="ltr"><code><nowiki>mw.util.addPortletLink()</nowiki></code></bdi> has been simplified. Developers can now pass a configuration object instead of a list of positional parameters when creating portlet links. The previous function signature remains supported for backwards compatibility. For example, instead of: <bdi lang="zxx" dir="ltr"><code><nowiki>mw.util.addPortletLink('p-cactions', '#', 'Stub', 'ca-stubtag', 'Add a stub tag to this page');</nowiki></code></bdi> use <bdi lang="zxx" dir="ltr"><code><nowiki>mw.util.addPortletLink('p-cactions', { href: '#', text: 'Stub', id: 'ca-stubtag', tooltip: 'Add a stub tag to this page' });</nowiki></code></bdi>. Script maintainers are encouraged to review existing uses of <bdi lang="zxx" dir="ltr"><code><nowiki>addPortletLink()</nowiki></code></bdi> and update them where appropriate. This change will be available on all wikis from 11 June. Thanks to community volunteer Gerges for contributing this improvement. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T427945 β
- '''Community Wishlist discussion''': Product & Technology introduced changes β meant to increase the number and complexity of wishes fulfilled, including the disbanding of the Community Tech team. I am going to revert your edit again as you again reverted my edit. You claimed the context i added was without references. That is wrong. Literally on the same section as the image posted contained this sentence backed up by sources:
"...and references to Gaster's "Entry Number Seventeen" in in-game dialogue, on old revisions of ''Deltarune''<nowiki/>'s website."
The website being sourced contained this sentence: "...Gaster has been teased to make an appearance in the upcoming sequel ''Deltarune'' through the secret True Lab entry appearing on ''Deltarune''<nowiki/>'s website."
Lastly, if you think i am lying about this and just putting up fan made content, i am not and it is also on the wayback machine if you put in deltarune.com. β
Please stop doing this edit war. Monathephantom (talk) 22:27, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
:The link you gave me points to a UGC website, which is most certainly (to my knowledge) not the source you want to cite. I do not know where the actual website is since you have not directed me to it. The WP:BURDEN β of supporting text with citations is on you, for adding the content, so it would be nice if I could have that (and you should not include that in the article without a citation).
:Regardless, that does not ''fully'' support the image or caption. The quotes you give do not verify that is was "{{userquote|The Deltarune website on August 19, 2016}}", specifically, nor that it "{{userquote|contains a quote of Deltarune's prophecy}}", and ''nor'' the translation "{{userquote|which reads "THREE HEROES APPEAR TO BANISH THE ANGELS HEAVEN}}". Even if citing the original source, you can't exactly say it "{{userquote|contains a quote of Deltarune's prophecy}}" without that being WP:OR β.
:Also, this is not officially an WP:EDITWAR β yet, but, yeah, disruptive. I have reverted only twice. Anyways, hope this works out, and I'll make a message on the W. D. - The Reader Growth team β has launched an Image Browsing β beta feature on the mobile web version of all Wikipedias. The feature shows an image carousel at the top of articles with 3 or more images. Editors can configure this feature with the following controls: to hide a specific image from a page, either use <code>class=notpageimage</code> excluding it from thumbnail previews, or <code>class=noviewer</code> excluding it from MediaViewer. The carousel can also be disabled from a page entirely, with the magic word <code><nowiki>__NOMEDIAVIEWERCAROUSEL__</nowiki></code>. To submit feedback or flag bugs, please visit the project page β.
- Wikitables β can now be sorted in descending order β on the first click by adding <code dir=ltr>data-sort-order="desc"</code> to the header cell. Previously, by default, clicking a column header for the first time sorts it in ascending order. This addition to a Wikitable gives it more control and flexibility, while the default behavior for subsequent clicks remains unchanged. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T398416 β
'''Updates for editors'''
- The Article guidance β feature is currently being tested with some editors creating new articles on the Simple English, French, and Turkish Wikipedias. The experiment will soon begin on the Arabic and Bangla Wikipedias as well. This feature β gives editors community-curated guidance to help them create articles that follow community standards. Experienced editors can continue creating or adapting outlines for specific article types that are commonly created by less experienced contributors. The outlines guide less experienced editors in creating high-quality articles. A quick guide to markups used in outlines can be found on this page β. Example outlines β that can be adapted and instructions for how to adapt them are on this section β of the project page.
- Wikis that wish to replace the "indefinitely" button in Special:Block for temporary accounts (for example, wikis that block temporary users only until account expiration) will be able to do so by creating MediaWiki:ipb-indefinite-expiry-temporary-account β with the block duration they want. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T427125 β

- By the end of June, a valid user-agent string will be required for automated dumps downloads from the dumps.wikimedia.org website. Automated requests that provide a generic or empty user-agent will be blocked. This extends enforcement β of the long standing user-agent policy β. Access to dumps through Wikimedia Cloud Services will not change.
- The roll out of global API rate limits β is now complete, with limits enforced across all APIs and at the documented levels for all groups. Bots running in Toolforge/WMCS or with the bot user right on any wiki remain exempt. All bots should continue to follow the documented best practices to avoid being rate limited.
- The API Portal wiki β will be read only starting this week (June 15-18). The following week (June 22-25), all API Portal wiki URLs will redirect to Wikimedia APIs on mediawiki.org β. Learn more on the project page β.

Question from Denford.txl on User:Denford.txl (14:17, 16 June 2026)
Hello, how do l create a page? --Denford.txl (talk) 14:17, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
:See WP:How to create a page β. If you want to write an ''article'', specifically, see WP:Your first article β. Some of these are a little confusing, so if you need you can ask me about them. π« <span style="color:maroon;">'''Crash // Organhaver'''</span> (β''itβ/βhe''β|β''<span style="color:darkred;">talk to me, maybe?</span>''β) 15:16, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
Overlinking
Remember, you do not need to link for the same or extremely similar (like trans man and transgender man) term more than once. I just had to remove ''28 repeat links'' on Fetishization of LGBTQ people β after your most recent edits. Please be more careful with how add links in the future. Urchincrawler (talk) 00:56, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
:Some clarification: I did not overlink β, I added repeat links, and linking a term more than once in an article is (most often) fine.
:The article did not have many wikilinks previously, and I believed I followed MOS:REPEATLINK β throughout (although for some I did not). The policy says that links should be added for new major sections. Thank you for removing some, and I do not especially understand why you did that in 11 separate edits, but, regardless. I will say that I have seen other articles with a much higher frequency of repeat links, but I can understand wanting to follow with policy. Thanks. π« <span style="color:maroon;">'''Crash // Organhaver'''</span> (β''itβ/βhe''β|β''<span style="color:darkred;">talk to me, maybe?</span>''β) 01:06, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
Hey, know how to format images?
Reaching out on the off chance that you can lend a hand here: I've managed to get permission for an image to be added to Patrick Ball β (permission formally pending with Commons volunteers). However, I can't for the life of me figure out how to format the image to fit within the infobox. You were the first competent editor who came to mind. No worries if you're busy or uninterested, though. Trotsk6 (talk) 17:31, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
:{{Tps}} {{done}}. There's no need to format images in infoboxes as links or write <code>thumb</code> or anything; just the bare filename goes in the <code>|image=</code> parameter. The caption goes in the separate <code>|caption=</code> parameter. <span style="color:var(--color-link-red);background:inherit">lp0 on fire</span> <span class="skin-invert" style="color:#006537;background:inherit">()</span> 17:44, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

Continuation of the discussion from a few days ago, I believe I have developed an alternate method of adding that image and caption that is sourced correctly, do you agree? (Asking as you were the one to remove it originally.) Game Rant source: "Deltarune has lore about the three heroes (Kirs, Susie, and Ralsei) who will seal away the angel's heaven." This, I believe is enough to make the subject notable, even if the image itself needs to be primary-sourced.

:I may change some of the all caps words to be lowercase (per WP:ALLCAPS β) but to me, everything else is good (and... maybe change that access date to today instead of August 2025). ::No problem. The access date there is outdated because the source is already used in the article. But I will change the ALLCAPS. TheSilksongPikmin (talk | contribs β) 21:20, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
::Alright, added, I have shortened the caption by moving some of the info to the actual "''Deltarune''" body section, same sourced content though. Question from FactsMatterMost (17:43, 19 June 2026)
HI. I am working to edit a very outdated page about a filmmaker. I was trying to add a citation, but not sure if it should link to another Wikipedia page or something entirely unrelated? I know when I click on Wikipedia articles, the numbered superscripts often link to the Wikipedia page about that subject. Is that what I should be linking? Or does the citation need to be to a site outside of Wikipedia? --FactsMatterMost (talk) 17:43, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
:Citations should be ''external'' media that verifies a part of text, so, yes, something entirely unrelated (to Wikipedia). You shouldn't use Wikipedia itself to support a claim (see here β for more info on why).
:Citing is a bit hard, so this page β has a lot more information on it that could help you with formatting and stuff. Thank you for asking! π« <span style="color:maroon;">'''Crash // Organhaver'''</span> (β''itβ/βhe''β|β''<span style="color:darkred;">talk to me, maybe?</span>''β) 19:23, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
::Hi. So I completely redid a filmmaker's page in my Sandbox. I know a brand new page can take a long time to be approved, so I copied and pasted from the Sandbox to the live Wikipedia page for the filmmaker. When I did that, and clicked "publish changes," none of the superlinks/citations were there anymore. HELP please!
::I spent hours editing with citations for everything! The full page is still in my Sandbox. Please tell me how to properly copy and paste into the live page so that my citations are copied as well. Thanks! FactsMatterMost (talk) 00:27, 21 June 2026 (UTC)

::::I have one more question. There were some parts on the old page, under "Career," that I did not copy. I would like to reinsert a few of those sentences into the newly published page. Is the old page's information still available somewhere? Or once it's changed and published is it gone for good?
::::TIA for your help! FactsMatterMost (talk) 04:43, 21 June 2026 (UTC)

- Sub-referencing β is a new MediaWiki feature that allows editors to reuse references with different details. It will be deployed to most small and medium-sized Wikipedia language versions on June 23. The FAQ β lists possible actions to take on your wiki to support the deployment. Check the rollout plan β for the next deployment steps. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T428902 β
- Starting next week, users will get a notification when they are blocked or unblocked from editing, or if this block changes. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T100974 β

'''Updates for technical contributors'''
- Starting next week, abuse filters that are set to "require CAPTCHA verification" will begin to also affect users with the <code>skipcaptcha</code> right, which includes most autoconfirmed users. Bots are exempted. This change only affects edits that trigger an abuse filter. The <code>skipcaptcha</code> right will continue to exempt users from having to solve CAPTCHAs in the ordinary course of using the wikis. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T402595 β
- Reference documentation for the Lift Wing API β has moved from the API Portal to the interactive REST Sandbox β.

'''Updates for editors'''
- As part of the Account Creation Experiments β, the Growth team tested adding a user account icon in the mobile web header for logged-out users, providing direct access to "Create account" and "Log in" actions. The experiment increased account creation by about 20% without negatively affecting edit quality or constructive edit rates. The feature will now be rolled out to all Wikimedia Foundation wikis on mobile web in the first week of July. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T428220 β
- After a successful experiment β, logged-in users who did not confirm their email address β when their account was created see a new banner asking them to complete that process. This helps reduce the risk that users get locked out of their account, and makes account email addresses overall more reliable. This is part of the Account Security β project. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T428292 β
- An update to Search β is refining how the <bdi lang="zxx" dir="ltr"><code><nowiki>-prefix:</nowiki></code></bdi> behaves when used to exclude results. Previously, using <bdi lang="zxx" dir="ltr"><code><nowiki>-prefix:</nowiki></code></bdi> with negation could unintentionally broaden search results by adding the namespaces included in the search scope, leading to confusing behavior for users expecting a straightforward exclusion filter. With the update, <bdi lang="zxx" dir="ltr"><code><nowiki>-prefix:</nowiki></code></bdi> will now strictly exclude matching page titles as intended and may display a warning if the relevant namespace has not been explicitly selected. The behavior of <bdi lang="zxx" dir="ltr"><code><nowiki>prefix:</nowiki></code></bdi> without negation however remains unchanged. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T427443 β

'''Updates for technical contributors'''
- Starting June 29th, automated downloads from the dumps.wikimedia.org website will be subject to the user-agent policy β. Automated requests that provide a generic or empty user-agent will be blocked. Access to dumps through Wikimedia Cloud Services remains unaffected. This is a follow up to the announcement made in the 2026/25 issue of Tech News β.

Question from RobinJohnston24 (19:35, 29 June 2026)
Hi there - nice to meet you. I just created a Wiki account, more as a way to associate myself with my monthly donation than for any other reason. That said, it has raised a question that maybe you can help answer. For a long time, I've wanted to create a Wiki page for my mother. She was a well-known opera singer in her day, and several of her peers have Wiki pages. How do I go about this? Thanks :) --RobinJohnston24 (talk) 19:35, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! Generally, it is discouraged to write about subjects that are close to you, but you can still make a draft. See the Article Wizard β to make one, and the Wizard will also give you some instructions to help you.
:Just to say, but writing a Wikipedia article is very difficult, and not the easiest for new editors (see here β for more information on making a new article). It might be better to practice editing pre-existing articles and helping out there. Hope it works out for you, and thanks for asking! π« <span style="color:maroon;">'''Crash // Organhaver'''</span> (β''itβ/βhe''β|β''<span style="color:darkred;">talk to me, maybe?</span>''β) 20:01, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
::I definitely intend to do some editing, but I've already drafted an entry about my mother, including links for performances, photos, her obituary, etc.). That said, despite the fact than I am a professional writer, I recognize that writing something for wiki requires a specific skillset, so I may look at finding an experienced wiki writer through something like Upwork or Freelancer, particularly if I can fine someone who has experience with classical music writing or opera, and we'll see whether they consider my mother will fit within Wiki's notability guidelines. Thanks for you reply - very helpful! RobinJohnston24 (talk) 20:29, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

'''Updates for technical contributors'''
- In preparation for Celebrate Women campaign β planned for March 2027, the Wikimedia Foundationβs Content Enablement team β has launched a 22-question survey to better understand technical contributions by women+ (anyone who identifies as a woman) across Wikimedia projects. Hello, question and stuff
Hi! I happen to come across your account and I forgot how. Anyway, I love your userpage as its silly- it made my day :D
Now the question, how the heck did you make that 2x2 image of a wombat? Im inspired and want to that with an image of a fish. Please help.
Another thing, keep being yourself, wikipedia needs more silly people ^^
Ilikememes128 (talk) 00:55, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! ...and that's really nice to hear!!
:For the wombat, it's just a pre-existing random wombat image that I made 2px by 2px. It's an image size thing! In VisualEditor, edit the image and make the size whatever pixels, or edit the wikitext in source editor. And, ya know, I think it would be awesome for you to have a fish.
:I also see that you're trying to set your signature to the one on your userpage. To do that you ''could'' read WP:SIG β (and it'll tell you the guidelines on signatures too), but it looks okay enough and most of what you have to do is just copy the wikitext into this section of your preferences β.
:Thank you for the message, I really appreciate it! You keep being yourself as well. π« <span style="color:maroon;">'''Crash // Organhaver'''</span> (β''itβ/βhe''β|β''<span style="color:darkred;">talk to me, maybe?</span>''β) 23:38, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
Gender categories
The categories for Men and Women by state are *not* for individual males and females. Please review the categories. They are for articles relating to the male and female genders. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 01:22, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
:There is nothing on the categories themselves indicating that it is used that way. Nowhere on the parent categories either. My apologies that I have misinterpreted it. π« <span style="color:maroon;">'''Crash // Organhaver'''</span> (β''itβ/βhe''β|β''<span style="color:darkred;">talk to me, maybe?</span>''β) 01:25, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
You're invited to the Mentorship noticeboard
Hi, Organhaver. You are cordially invited to the brand new Wikipedia:Mentorship noticeboard β. I get the impression sometimes that we mentors are each toiling in our own cubbyhole or hamster wheel, quietly answering mentee questions with little to no interaction with other mentors. I think we have a lot to share and learn from each other, and I know it will make me feel better just having the opportunity to interact with you and other mentors there, and I hope it will for you, too. Looking forward to hearing your feedback. Please take the {{slink|WP:MNB|Survey|nopage=yes}} when you get there! Mathglot (talk) 02:57, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
:Thank you for inviting me! Probably just going to <s>stalk</s> watch the page, maybe will do the survey if I have the time. π« <span style="color:maroon;">'''Crash // Organhaver'''</span> (β''itβ/βhe''β|β''<span style="color:darkred;">talk to me, maybe?</span>''β) 03:21, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
