MiLB Rosters

Hi! Thanks for your edits to several minor league team rosters. I wanted to let you know that, just like MLB team rosters (i.e. Template:Chicago Cubs roster ↗), players and coaches should be organized ''alphabetically'' by position. Also, don't forget to pipe links ↗ so Michael Ryan (baseball) ↗ looks like Michael Ryan ↗ by placing a <code>|</code> after the parts in parenthesis. One more thing, remember to change the date in the template to the date of your update. Let me know if I can be of any help with these things or anything else. NatureBoyMD (talk) 04:00, 3 December 2020 (UTC)

Oh my bad I thought you did it in the order of their numbers. ParkerLyme (talk) 04:01, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
:No worries. It can be confusing, because Template:Chicago Cubs roster navbox ↗ (for example) does organize players by number, but the regular rosters are sorted alphabetically. :) NatureBoyMD (talk) 04:03, 3 December 2020 (UTC)

Okay cool I will remember that for future reference. ParkerLyme (talk) 04:07, 3 December 2020 (UTC)

Blake Sims

It looks like many of these smaller leagues don't have transactions announcements, so in the case of Blake Sims ↗, I added a source for a Frisco Fighters game recap that he was mentioned in (my edit ↗). An official announcement would be best here, but since there isn't one, this will be sufficient to satisfy Wikipedia's verifiability ↗ policy. Thanks for helping with this! <span style="font-family:Verdana"><b style="color:#004C54">Eagles</b>&nbsp;<b style="color:#004C54">24/7</b></span>&nbsp;<span style="color:#004C54; font-size:x-small">(C)</span> ↗ 20:35, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

Yeah sorry about that man I tried to search high and low but the best I could do is find him listed on the roster. There was no official announcement of his signing which was weird considering he is their starting QB 😂 ParkerLyme (talk) 21:37, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

Updating for the defunct USFL/XFL teams

Hi ParkerLyme. I appreciate you updating player articles to state that they're free agents after their XFL/USFL team has folded, but do you think you could maybe add in the prose some kind of text such as {{tq|The team was discontinued when the XFL and USFL merged.}}? I think it would be better for our readers as otherwise they see text stating that "[name] was signed by [team] on [date]" and nothing else whereas the lead states they're a free agent, which could be confusing. 25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style ↗ that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in :Bryce Harper ↗, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page ↗ to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. ''Please specifically see MOS:GEOLINK ↗ and MOS:US ↗. Edits like these: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bryce_Harper&diff=prev&oldid=1351016117 ↗, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bryce_Harper&diff=prev&oldid=1351016225 ↗ go those. Please keep that in mind.''<!-- Template:uw-mos1 --> Servite et contribuere (talk) 17:45, 27 April 2026 (UTC)

:That’s fine. Never mean any harm from my edits.
:I was just trying to keep in line with how I noticed all the other baseball players from the United States use the U. S. over the US
:So if that is a rule then we need to change it for every baseball player because they are not following this. ParkerLyme (talk) 17:48, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
::That's also fine. Most editors who make these major contributions don't really look at the GEOLINKS in the Infobox. In fact, there are so many articles out there that do not meet MOS:GEOLINK ↗. I would encourage you to also specifically read MOS:US ↗ and will acknowledge when I changed it that it was unnecessary, but it became new consensus. So that shouldn't be as big of a deal. That's mainly for article creation, and to be fair, there really isn't any reason to be changing from U.S. to US or vice versa anyways. MOS:US ↗ does say {{TQ|retain U.S. in American or Canadian English articles in which it is already established, unless there is a good reason to change it}}. So I guess both changes weren't necessary. But anyways, I would encourage reading other stuff like MOS:GEOLINK ↗, and MOS:ONELINK ↗. Other editors have disagreed with me on GEOLINK on what it means, but from what my perspective, it is to only link one geographical link, not to use a piped link if mentioned immediately in the Geographic link. And I think the same rule applies to all countries Geographical links. E.G. Buffalo, New York ↗, US and Boston ↗, Massachusetts, US. In regards to Baseball, many articles are unprotected and may be edited by editors with less of an understanding of some of Wikipedia's actual policies and guidelines, particularly the WP:MOS ↗ as many of these editors and temporary accounts, or IPs or however the technical tracker works now are just more focused on adding content to the body of the article and may not have a wide understanding of everything. Baseball articles tend to also have no protection, unlike other sports like Basketball, American Football, Association Football (Or whatever you want to call it) due to lower popularity compared to the latter ones I mentioned, and popular and well known athletes (And people in general) are very high targets for vandalism. I am aware this is a lot of information, but just giving an explanation of why so many articles are not in line with MOS:GEOLINK ↗. Servite et contribuere (talk) 18:05, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
:::I appreciate the information man!
:::Didn’t mean to sound offend or anything in my response. I just don’t want to get blocked from editing because I genuinely do like making sure information is up to date.
:::I’ll try to take a look at these things when I can!
:::Thanks for everything you do! ParkerLyme (talk) 18:08, 27 April 2026 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

|style="vertical-align: middle; border-top: 1px solid gray;" | Keeping track of every single head coach and coordinator for D2, D3, AND NAIA is a ''monumental'' task. Last time I looked at the List of current NAIA football coaches ↗ article, it was a ghost town, but you've really improved that article (plus the D2 and D3 equivalents) by leaps and bounds. Keep up the awesome work!! Finchwidget (talk) 04:29, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

:Thanks @Finchwidget!!!
:I was shocked to see how disorganized it was when I left it about a year and a half ago.
:I finally got some open time where I could sit down and focus on the NAIA and D3 lists and pages.
:I feel like there are a lot of people that keep up with the FBS and FCS pages where my help is not needed as much. D2 is kinda to a lesser extent where I try to help where I can. ParkerLyme (talk) 04:33, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
