:Rafael Núñez ↗ was president twice, which is why he was the first and third president of the Republic of Colombia ↗. It would be helpful to me if you edit the list because Carlos Holguín Mallarino ↗ appears on it as acting president, but he actually assumed office because Núñez resigned in his first term. I want to begin this discussion by emphasizing that in Colombia, between 1800 and 1970, there was a marked trend among the upper classes for women to use their married surname, based on the Spanish naming customs ↗ of using the suffix ''de'' after the maiden name and before the married name. Mrs. María Cristina Arango Vega ↗, whose married name was '''María Cristina Arango de Pastrana''', a surname that identified her connection to the ''Pastrana family ↗''—one of the six families in Colombia with two presidents in its lineage—legally bore this surname from her marriage until her death in 2018.
