Welcome to Wikipedia ↗, PsyKat777 WasTaken! I'm Liance, and I've been assigned as your '''mentor'''. About half of new Wikipedia accounts receive a mentor chosen randomly from a list of volunteers. It just means I'm here to help with anything you need! We need to have all kinds of people working together to create an online encyclopedia, so I'm glad you're here. Over time, you will figure out what you enjoy doing the most on Wikipedia.

You might have noticed that you have access to a tutorial and suggested edits ↗. It's recommended that you take advantage of this, as it'll make learning how to edit Wikipedia easier.

If you need assistance with anything or have any questions, click on the "Get editing help" button on the bottom right corner of your screen. This will open up a module with links to help pages and a place to ask me questions. You can also ask me questions directly on my talk page, or go here ↗ to get help from the wider community.

Again, welcome to Wikipedia! ~Liancetalk 16:50, 2 October 2024 (UTC)

Re: Edit request template

Hi! Regarding your edit to Talk:Cornel West ↗, the <code>{{template link|Edit semi protected}}</code> template you included is for edit requests ↗ on pages that are ''already'' semi-protected, not for requesting an increase to page protection. If you think that a page should be protected, you can request it at WP:Requests for page protection ↗. Thanks :) - <span style="background-color:#a23efa;color:white;padding:0 0.3em;border-radius:0.5em;white-space:nowrap">'''''Umby''''' 🌕🐶</span> <small>(talk)</small> 02:31, 27 October 2025 (UTC)

A suggestion

I appreciate your interest in Discovery of the neutron ↗. To be more effective I suggest you adopt a more concrete approach to your comments. General comments about how an article ought or ought not to be written have essentially no practical impact on specific articles. For example, you said on the Talk page: "On Wikipedia, you can't just put an opinion full stop." . What can I do with this claim? I already know this, as does every editor reading the page. Thus it is not helpful.

On the other hand, if you tell me that "The discovery of the neutron and its properties was central to the extraordinary developments in atomic physics in the first half of the 20th century." is an unsourced opinion, then I could respond. I could offer sources or propose changes. Such a comment is helpful to improve the article.

Hope this helps and thanks again. Johnjbarton (talk) 00:28, 29 October 2025 (UTC)

:Okay, I'll list a specific example in my comment! PsyKat777 WasTaken (talk) 00:29, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
:I believe I fixed it. Does it look good to you now? PsyKat777 WasTaken (talk) 00:35, 29 October 2025 (UTC)

What it's actually about

I don't want to say this on the discussion page, but the reason Slatersteven is claiming that all 5 of us are mad and to read WP:NOT is just a typical "le epic power user comeback". You can understand it for what it is, marvel at this phenomena, and move on. <span style="color:green;">''' — OmegaAOL'''</span> (talk, and contribs ↗) 16:52, 2 November 2025 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to '''the Arab–Israeli conflict ↗''', a topic designated as '''''contentious ↗'''''. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and <em>does <strong>not</strong> imply that there are any issues with your editing</em>.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee ↗. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators ↗ have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit <strong>carefully and constructively</strong>, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

<p><strong>Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days ↗, and you are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on any page within this topic.</strong></p><p>Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics <em>procedures</em>, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard ↗ or you may learn more about this contentious topic ↗. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{tl|Ctopics/aware}} template. </p>}}<!-- Derived from Template:Contentious topics/alert/first --> Rainsage (talk) 03:26, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
