Concern regarding Draft:Project 19 ↗

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, Quietnotion. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that Draft:Project 19 ↗, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 5 months. Drafts that have not been edited for six months may be deleted ↗, so if you wish to retain the page, please edit it ↗ again&#32;or request ↗ that it be moved to your userspace.

If the page has already been deleted, you can request it be undeleted ↗ so you can continue working on it.

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to :Sonia Malkine ↗ when you modified the page, you introduced {{cl|Unknown parameters|unknown parameters}}. Just because you specify {{para|some_param|{{var|some_variable}}}} does not always mean that variable will display. The {{para|some_param}} must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview ↗ button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a '''Show preview''' button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history ↗ of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk ↗ for assistance.

Username change and unblock request

{{unblock-un reviewed | 1=Quietnotionist | reason=Hi, and thanks for the note; I appreciate the soft block rather than a hard one. 'Quietnotion' is really just me. It is a personal handle I have used online for years, one person behind it and never shared. I will be upfront that it also matches a small company and website of mine, but I have never used this account for anything connected to that, and I never would. My editing here is purely for the love of it: folk music performers, transportation entrepreneurs from the 1940s, and other eclectic interests. As you can imagine, there is no money to be made here, and you will not find a single promotional or commercial edit anywhere in my history. To settle this cleanly I would be glad to be renamed to Quietnotionist, which clearly reads as an individual rather than a company. Thank you for your time. Unblock request.

{{unblock reviewed|reason=I am one person. I edit as a hobby. I've done it on and off for maybe 20 years in this account.

In the past week I have been accused of editing for-profit based on my username (the articles are about long dead, penniless folk singers, so that's pretty humorous) or that I am filling up wikipedia with AI slop. This is unfortunate since I actually want to contribute as I have for a long time. Here's what is happening:

Over the last couple of days I pushed through a bot password and a script. I created the bot password because I thought that was a legitimate way to go about using current technology with Wikipedia. I recognize now that I was incorrect.

I did not understand that this counts as running a bot that needs approval. I recognize, as I'm sitting here with a disabled wiki account for the second time in a week that I clearly should not have run a bot at all. I'm a graduate data science student and in my world bots usually are the first thing done. I understand that in the context of Wikipedia I am just a hobbyist peon writing about long dead folk singers and I will stick to what can be inputted via my qwerty keyboard exclusively in the future.

Nor was I hiding it at all. The bot usage was done transparently. The script identified itself as a bot in its user-agent because I wanted it to be transparent, but I understand now that transparent and open is not the same as approved. I have stopped using the bot password entirely, and as a good-faith step I tried to delete it at Special:BotPasswords just now, but the block prevents me from reaching that page. When (or if) my account is enabled I can delete the password.

The work itself is in good faith. These are biographies of mostly forgotten mid-century folk and old-time musicians who, while mentioned on Wikipedia, did not have their own articles and who I think deserve a proper record. I have tried with personal investment of time to source them accurately. If anything in them is wrong, I would genuinely welcome a specific pointer so I can fix it. I am happy to accept whatever conditions you think appropriate. Please tell me what you need from me to come back as an editor.

With angst, Quietnotionist (talk) 07:38, 27 May 2026 (UTC)|accept=Per your commitment to stick to manual editing and my conversation with the blocking administrator below, I am willing to lift this block. I assume you have done so already, but if you have not, I ask that you please take some time to review Wikipedia:Writing articles with large language models ↗ and Wikipedia:Bot policy ↗. If you have any questions about these, please feel free to reach out to me or another administrator. Happy editing, --Blablubbs (talk) 14:20, 27 May 2026 (UTC)}}

Quietnotionist, thanks for the request; it's an unusually good one. {{yo|asilvering}} You okay with me lifting, given the commitment to stick to manual editing from here on out? --Blablubbs (talk) 10:30, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
:{{u|Blablubbs}} absolutely. In solidarity ↗, asilvering (talk) 14:06, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
::@Blablubbs@Asilvering Thank you for your understanding. Appreciate you taking the time to look at what happened here. Quietnotionist (talk) 14:46, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
:::Also, to be clear: it's ok to use custom scripts to edit in some circumstances. It is totally unacceptable to put LLM-generated text on Wikipedia, and it's totally unacceptable to run an unapproved bot making mass changes, but we're definitely not doing every single thing by hand! So, let's say you've spun up a custom AI agent that will search Wikipedia for "citation needed" tags and find a citation that fits. If that AI agent went and added those directly to the articles, no good. But if you were to use that AI agent to make you a list of ''possible'' sources, and you individually checked every source to make sure that it does in fact support the sentence you'd be adding it to, you could go add that to the article (and maybe rewrite it a bit so that it does actually conform to the source your bot found). This would actually be a pretty helpful use of AI, but that human last step is critical, especially since LLMs easily settle for "close enough" and don't like to tell their operators "I don't know".
:::If bot-assisted editing is your kind of thing, you might be interested in WP:US ↗, and maybe even in creating some of your own. You might also be interested in WP:AWB ↗, which does require prior approval. In solidarity ↗, asilvering (talk) 16:11, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
:::@Asilvering Thanks for the feedback and explanation. I will get the work done manually on this batch of creations and then explore the bot-assisted resources you mentioned. Quietnotionist (talk) 16:29, 28 May 2026 (UTC)

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hi Quietnotionist. Thank you for your work on Stephen Addiss ↗. Another editor, Dionysodorus, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol ↗ and left the following comment:

{{Bq|1=There are statements in this article that are not fully supported by the sources given. For instance, the page cited as source 1 does not mention the date of his PhD, and the page cited as source 2 does not mention the "troubadours of goodwill" quotation. Please correct the article so that all statements are fully supported by the sources given at the end of each sentence.}}

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{code|<nowiki>{{Re|</nowiki>Dionysodorus<nowiki>}}</nowiki>}}. <small>(Message delivered via the Page Curation ↗ tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)</small><!-- Template:Sentnote-NPF -->

:{{Re|Dionysodorus}}
:Thanks for digging into these.
:PhD date: Per UMich, it was 1977. I swapped the obituary source for the university itself.
:"Troubadours of goodwill": It originates in Robert F. Kennedy's foreword to Bill Crofut's ''Troubadour: A Different Battlefield'' (E. P. Dutton, 1968). I've added the exact quotation to the reference to be clear about it. The same source has been in the Bill Crofut article for a while.
:If you see other statements that need better sourcing kindly let me know. When you think appropriate, consider whether the {{tl|cleanup}} tag can come down.
:<nowiki>Appreciate the careful read. ~~~~</nowiki> Quietnotionist (talk) 20:47, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
::@Quietnotionist: There are also other problems of the same kind: for instance, in the "Academic career" section, source 1 is given as a reference for the two National Endowment grants, and for him holding the "Tucker-Boatwright Professorship", but that is not in the source. It is not sufficient to ask me to take the burden of identifying the issues: rather, you wrote the article, so you ought to know what sources are needed to back it up. Where did you actually get this information from? I am concerned that you might have used AI to generate the article, rather than actually using the sources to write it from scratch. Dionysodorus (talk) 21:46, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
:::Thanks the followup.
:::I'll go through the article and sources again and update here when complete. Quietnotionist (talk) 08:47, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
:::Hey. I've revamped the article quite a lot.
:::I took care adding sources or updating it for the two items you mentioned here but beyond that went phrase by phrase to support each thing. The quality of the sources used has improved as well.
:::Give it another gander and let me know if more work is needed.
:::Thanks! Quietnotionist (talk) 17:59, 1 June 2026 (UTC)

::::Thanks, yes, I think it's ok now, so have removed the tags and marked it as reviewed. Dionysodorus (talk) 20:17, 1 June 2026 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 28

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sammy Gronemann ↗, links pointing to the disambiguation pages Reigen ↗ and Nienburg ↗ were added. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. <small>(Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)</small>
