Hello! Thanks for all of your work on short descriptions. I've reverted/changed a lot of these edits, for a few reasons.
Firstly, some article titles are descriptive enough to not have a short description, such as list articles (ex. List of constructed languages ↗) or year articles (ex. 1901 in Spain ↗), and even more. These articles don't have short description because it would be the same as the title, and repeating the title is... repetitive.
This also applies for rewording what the title says or other similar things. I don't know if you can see invisible comments, since I don't edit on mobile, but when editing, they should be visible. Some of them say to not change the description.
Secondly, when you're adding descriptions to living or dead people, you should add birth and death date if applicable. If an article says someone is "John Smith (born 2002), American poet" then the short description can be "American poet (born 2002)". Or, if it's "Jane Doe (1833-1900), Canadian linguist" then the description can be "Canadian linguist (1833–1900)".
The "–" character is preferred.
Otherwise, not by me, your edits have been reverted. I am unsure if you have received notification about that, since your editing after the revert continued.
Anyways, thanks for helping with shortdescs, but please make these improvements! Thank you so much. 🫀 <span style="color:maroon;">'''Crash // Organhaver'''</span> ( ''it / he'' | ''<span style="color:darkred;">talk to me, maybe?</span>'' ) 18:00, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
:@Organhaver Hello and thank you for your message (and sorry for my slow response).
:I have recently been editing short descriptions as I thought it would make Wikipedia a better place and more reliable. But sorry if I have done a terrible job at it.
:I have been editing the list and year articles as those are the ones that come up on my edit recommendations (presumably because they aren't supposed to have a short description), but now that I know that, I won't do that anymore. Same applies with the rewording of titles etc.
:And yes from now on, I will add birth and death years where I can.
:And regarding the other things, I never received any notifications about my edits being reverted (even though I have Wikipedia notifications enabled), and no I can't see invisible comments while working on mobile, but that sounds quite useful.
:Also, I noticed on Tuesday that I have been blocked from editing short descriptions due to my recent record with the volume of edits that have been reverted - do you know anything about this and how much longer this ban will last?
:Anyway thanks for your help and editing feedback - it is much appreciated! Roads4117 (talk) 20:02, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
::For the block, I can't find anything in the public logs (from what I searched). Of course, I'm not an expert at finding this stuff. Just curious, how did you find out? Like, when did the message appear (if a message even appeared)?
::Anyways, I ''have'' heard that mobile doesn't have the same quality features as non-mobile devices.
::No worries about the response timing, by the way. I would thank you again but I feel it may be excessive. 🫀 <span style="color:maroon;">'''Crash // Organhaver'''</span> ( ''it / he'' | ''<span style="color:darkred;">talk to me, maybe?</span>'' ) 21:26, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
:::@Organhaver I just got a message when I clicked on the suggested edits which said that editing has been disabled as too many of my recent edits have been reverted. Roads4117 (talk) 14:18, 24 March 2026 (UTC)

:::Oh BTW is the error notice that I receive when I click on the Suggested Edits tab @Jonesey95 @Organhaver Roads4117 (talk) 08:41, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
:@Organhaver Also do you know if there is any way in which you can remove things such as list articles or year articles out of my suggested edits section? Because that is where I was recommended to edit those pages and personally I think that you shouldn't have those sort of articles on the suggested edits if they don't need a short description. Roads4117 (talk) 17:57, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
::No, but you can check the title and skip those. I'm unsure where to request to fix the suggested edits section. 🫀 <span style="color:maroon;">'''Crash // Organhaver'''</span> ( ''it / he'' | ''<span style="color:darkred;">talk to me, maybe?</span>'' ) 19:19, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
Just for the record, I have brought this up at the Wikipedia Teahouse. It can be found here ↗. Roads4117 (talk) 17:36, 25 March 2026 (UTC)

:{{U|Roads4117}}, you fell victim to a bug in the Android app's "suggested edits" feature that we were told had been resolved ↗. The app should not suggest that you add short descriptions to pages where the short description is already set to "none", but it does. I have filed a bug. In the meantime, check the lead section of each page for a short description template before adding one. – Jonesey95 (talk) 12:56, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
::@Jonesey95 Oh that makes sense thank you so much for your help :-). Yeah I was wondering because it seemed random and sudden that it happened because I didn't get any sort of talk page message about a ban or anything and I was unsure of what it was but this makes sense now. Do you know how long it normally takes to fix the bug? Roads4117 (talk) 16:25, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
:::I can't explain why you lost your ability to edit short descriptions with the Android app, why you apparently weren't notified, or how you might appeal that loss. I think that :mw:Talk:Wikimedia Apps/Android Suggested edits ↗ might be the right venue for asking those questions. As for fixing bugs, it takes anywhere from a few days to many years; there is no way to predict the outcome. This particular bug was originally filed in 2023, possibly fixed at some point, and is currently present again. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:04, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
::::@Jonesey95 @Organhaver @ARamadan-WMF Also I have just realised that this is not a new issue as I was looking back through my edit contributions and found that I edited a 'list' SD as far back as 17 April 2025, which shouldn't have happened if it was set to 'none' <ref>{{Cite web|url=https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_foreign_Canadian_Premier_League_players&diff=1286119371&oldid=1267156398&variant=en|title=Edit 1286119371|date=2025-04-17|access-date=2026-04-03}}</ref>. Roads4117 (talk) 17:46, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::The issue was first reported in 2023 at {{phab|T326898}}. It is unclear whether it has existed continuously since then or whether it was fixed for a while and then returned. It's not your fault. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:43, 4 April 2026 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm Patar knight. I noticed that you have been adding short descriptions ↗ to articles. However, the short descriptions you added are too long to be effective, such as at :Economy of Mandatory Palestine ↗. The guideline is that short descriptions should ideally be under 40 characters long, and no longer than needed. For more information, see the short description guidelines ↗. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you.<!-- Template:uw-longsd --> -- Patar knight - chat/contributions ↗ 14:32, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
