Vandalism at Turkish-Kurdish conflict articles

The IP editor is continuing to conduct his POV vandalism at all three articles and thus I have requested that all three articles be temporarily semi-protected. See here ↗. The request is pending at the moment. EkoGraf (talk) 20:04, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi Shadow4dark, I wonder why you reverted me. We actually already have a template Template:Kurdish–Turkish conflict (1978–present) ↗ for the time and if we make it even with an unlimited timeframe, it will become even larger. What are your thoughts?Paradise Chronicle (talk) 19:55, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

Insurgency

I am not sure if we talk about the same conflict. There is an insurgence, but here is also a political conflict. Both conflicts are somehow intertwined as most politicians get accused of supporting an "organization" and it is mainly thought to be the PKK. Naming of the “Iraqi civil war (2014–2017)” article

I believe Iraq–ISIL War or War in Iraq (2013–2017) are much better so we should change it back to either, 0 references call the conflict a civil war and the name change to “iraqi civil war (2014–2017)” happened in mid-late 2014 when the conflict escalated before everyone knew what type of conflict it was, which makes the name outdated. TFX page grammatical concern.

Hey, I've seen your latest edit "It will enter in service in 2030s". I'm not a native speaker but I think something like "TF-X is expected to be delivered in 2030s" or "TF-X will go into service in 2030s" would be better. I can't really make a perfect sentence neither so I just wanted to show you my ideas. I looked at some examples and "into" is used alot.

Another topic: I've watched a recent interview of Ismail Demir and he said that they expect TFX to go into service 4 or 5 years after first flight date wich is around 2029/2030. I'm thinking about giving an exact date like 2029 or 2030 instead of 2030s, with sources. ŞeyhMuşmula (talk) 00:46, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

Kullanıcı İsmi disruptive edits

Hello Shadow4dark, I hope you are doing well. I wanted to point out some recent, potentially disruptive, editing by editor Kullanıcı İsmi who you seemed to have had experience in the past. Namely, the editor in question added a separation line into the infoboxes of almost four dozen Syrian civil war battle articles so to separate the al-Nusra Front from other rebel groups. As per established parameters, the separation line is reserved for those who are fighting against the same enemy, but are not fighting as allies. These groups fought side-by-side as allies during the battles. Furthermore, Kullanıcı İsmi went as far as to remove sourced content and its sources (such as BBC News) in a few of the articles as well without any explanation. He seems to have done this in the past as well. He marked almost all of his edits as minor, which they are not. I think an eye should be kept on Kullanıcı İsmi's behavior and action considered if it continues. He seems to have been blocked three times already in just one month since starting to edit, but apparently to no effect. In any case, your help on resolving the issue in a way that would be beneficial to all if possible would be greatly appreciated. Cheers and have a great day! EkoGraf (talk) 19:55, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

Öcalan had already begun to move away from the objective of an independent united Kurdistan by 1993, '''when he tentatively put forward compromise proposals''' in favour of autonomy within Turkey. The PKK’s objectives have not simply been reconfigured since Öcalan’s imprisonment, albeit as late as 2000 he still made reference to obtaining a state (Akkaya/Jongerden 2011: 145). Öcalan used his trials as platforms to communicate an elaborate, all-encompassing system of societal organisation and selfgovernance..."''

By falsely accusing me of "blanking ↗" you are not only using misleading edit summary but also assuming bad faith against my editing.

There is no consensus to include this false claim. Consider self-revert for yourself. '''Aman Kumar Goel''' (''Talk'') 17:40, 28 November 2022 (UTC)

:Sorry but I don't see a consensus for removing a claim backed by multiple sources. You should go to reliable sources board to ban these sources. Shadow4dark (talk) 17:46, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
::Read WP:IRS ↗ and familiarize yourself with what constitutes a reliable source.
::'''Where is the consensus for including it?''' The spurious claim was added without consensus, it was removed, then it is being added without consensus again.
::So again, where do you see consensus for inclusion in the first place? '''Aman Kumar Goel''' (''Talk'') 17:51, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
:::I don't see a consensus for removal. But should we not discuss this on WP:RSN ↗ and get consensus for not using Indian and Pakistani sources on unconfirmed claims in conflicts? Shadow4dark (talk) 18:24, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
::::the last comment is changing the consensus but these sources need be discussed tot future claims Shadow4dark (talk) 18:49, 28 November 2022 (UTC)

Gulen Movement

All the citations in deleted content are Turkish gov owned or Erdogan family owned newspapers, Anadolu Agency, Hurriyet ,Daily Sabah ever one of them. None of them are free media. If you accuse someone with terrorism you need have evidence to support that .
You cannot say "prove that you are not a terrorist" , you have to show the proof if you accuse someone with terror, not Gulen supporters. Until you can show evidence please do not re-add the deleted content.

ThanksU|En waarom, beste {{U|Shadow4dark}} zouden dit ↗ ''test edits?'' zijn? Lotje (talk) 10:41, 14 July 2023 (UTC)

Cheers. Hello! I am confused by your revert here ↗ as it is lacking an edit summary. :The first one was unnecessary edit as it was his personal page and we should leave that alone. Second his page can be edited if they use sockpuppet. Shadow4dark (talk) 07:05, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

::It's his personal page but the information is obsolete. Paradise Chronicle is banned from their own talk page. :::Yes but the arbitration left the page as current version. But it don't bother me if you revert me, you are right about it and is misleading because they can't talk with them as they have no talkpage access. Shadow4dark (talk) 11:55, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

::Alright after I posted this, I finally understood what you mean, use a sockpuppet. Alright, fine. Not going to argue, not going to revert. '''<span style="color:#512888">starship</span><span style="color:#512888">.paint</span> ↗ (exalt)''' 07:34, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

Vandalism and reverting edits without reason

Hi i want to contact you about user named LLC226699 which is editing in ''List of equipment of the Turkish Land Forces''. I warned him/her ,but he/she continued to make changes either without citing the source or citing not reliable source. Also doesnt stop reverting my reverts too. No any explanation or anything about his edits or reverts whatsoever. IR-TheFirstSoldier (talk) 18:04, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

Revert of "Category: Racially motivated violence in Africa" from Ethnic violence in South Sudan"?

Hello, why was this edit done?

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ethnic_violence_in_South_Sudan&diff=prev&oldid=1195145050

It's not like "Racially motivated violence in Africa" is that full category (it has ... like 5 articles there) and it doesn't really make sense (when is it ethnical and when racial conflict?)... but then let's just delete the category and all articles? - Running 10:10, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

:I reverted blocked sockpuppet. Feel free to add them back if it was correct. Shadow4dark (talk) 10:13, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
::Yeah I agree that it's a weird category and probably some kind of sockpuppet, fits the pattern here - Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Timoy3456/Archive ↗ - so I'll instead remove the entire category and all articles there. Or maybe just think really hard what should even be there - Running 13:00, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Stumbled across your revert and had some questions

Moin! You reverted an edit by an IP user on Kemal Pir ↗ which labelled him as a torture victim.

Considering the disgusting inhumane actions by Esat Oktay Yıldıran at Diyarbakir prison, which even his wiki page states he was known for torturing Kurds and PKK-aligned Kurds, why would you remove the edit on Kemal Pir’s page? Volkish Kurden (talk) 15:39, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

about altay tank origin

hey, altay tank article says "main battle tank designed by Otokar based on South Korean K2 Black Panther to be produced by BMC under design assistance and technology transfer by Hyundai Rotem."

doesn't this make the origin from south korea? Throat0390 (talk) 14:02, 9 October 2024 (UTC)

:i don't think as is is fully builded in Turkey and not in south Korea. Currently only Turkish BMC is responsibly for the development. But this should be discussed in the talk page. Shadow4dark (talk) 17:33, 9 October 2024 (UTC)

Using Ahaber as a source

I see that you reverted my change ↗ and added AHaber as a source for the content.

AHaber is a news portal owned by Turkuvaz Media group which is owned by family of Erdogan.

Serhat Albayrak is the CEO of the company who is the brother of the son-in-law of Erdogan.

Here you can see the Albayrak's message on Turkuvaz Media website:

More here:

So  , AHaber is not a reliable and independent source per Wikipedia:Independent sources ↗ especially in this matter

I would appreciate if you remove the subjective content from the page Unforgvn20 (talk) 22:40, 2 May 2025 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to '''articles about living or recently deceased people ↗, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles''', a topic designated as '''''contentious ↗'''''. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and <em>does <strong>not</strong> imply that there are any issues with your editing</em>.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee ↗. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators ↗ have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit <strong>carefully and constructively</strong>, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

<p>Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics ''procedures'', you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard ↗ or you may learn more about this contentious topic here ↗. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{tl|Ctopics/aware}} template. </p>}}<!-- Derived from Template:Contentious topics/alert/first --> Bogazicili (talk) 04:37, 31 July 2025 (UTC)

Temporary account IP viewer granted

right|80px|alt=The temporary account IP viewer logo, composed of the Wikipedia globe with a user and an IP address ↗
Hello, Shadow4dark. Per your request, your account has been <span class="plainlinks">granted ↗</span> {{mono|temporary-account-viewer}} rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts ↗ that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is <strong>only</strong> to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer ↗ for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:
It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:
Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. You may also voluntarily give up access at any time by visiting Special:Preferences ↗. Happy editing! <!-- Template:Temporary account IP viewer granted -->Giraffer (talk) 13:47, 21 October 2025 (UTC)

Guide to temporary accounts

Hello, Shadow4dark. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.

'''Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed.''' Instead, they will have a '''temporary account ↗''' (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer ↗ (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.

Changes made by the United Nations

The United Nations changed the country's name from "Turkey" to "Türkiye" in 2022 because the original word had other connotations. But why does Wikipedia still use the old usage everywhere? Ordinâryüs Üstâd (talk) 11:11, 11 April 2026 (UTC)

:
Discuss this on Turkey ↗ talk page so long it's not changed to Türkiye we use Turkey on Wikipedia. Shadow4dark (talk) 11:17, 11 April 2026 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Mohammed Deif.webp

35px|text-top|left|⚠|link= ↗ Thanks for uploading ''':File:Mohammed Deif.webp ↗'''. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of non-free use ↗. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media ↗).

Why did you blank my edit?

I noticed my additions to the Hearts of Iron IV ↗ article were removed by you without explanation. Did I do something wrong? Robertjhennigan (talk) 20:41, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

:See talk page and see my link on my edit also WP:KOTAKU ↗ is unreliable after 2023. Shadow4dark (talk) 20:44, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
::I read the talk page, and while I understand they're drafting a standalone article for ''The Fire Rises'', there should still be a section dedicated to the mod. Kaiserreich has its own article, and it still has a section on the main HoI4 article. As for the sources, there's others I could use. Robertjhennigan (talk) 20:50, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Personally i think it is worth to mention under other mods about the controversy but not a large plot text wall as it needs better sources. Shadow4dark (talk) 20:56, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
::::So we can agree that if I focus on the controversy surrounding the mod, rather than the content, I can add a section about it without issue? Robertjhennigan (talk) 21:03, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::You can do it. Shadow4dark (talk) 21:06, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Mersin ↗

Hi {{ping|Shadow4dark}}

Thanks for your message. I’m aware that Mersin and other cities is not in the European part of Turkey. The Europe location map I added wasn’t meant to suggest that, just to provide a bit more geographical context.
I think it would be better to discuss this on the article’s talk page rather than continuing to revert each other’s edits. I’ll refrain from further reverts for now so we can reach a consensus.

If there’s a relevant policy or guideline that restricts this kind of usage, I’d appreciate it if you could point me to it.

Thanks,
Ornek11222 (talk) 08:31, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

:see MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE ↗ and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_settlement#Parameter_names_and_descriptions it states it is optimal, however since Mersin is in Asian part of the country it is factual inaccurate to add Europe but not Asia. Shadow4dark (talk) 00:27, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
::{{ping|Shadow4dark}}
::Thanks for the additional reference.
::I understand your point regarding clarity and potential confusion. My intention with adding the Europe location map was not to imply that Mersin is located in Europe, but to provide broader geographical context.
::That said, I agree that consistency and clarity are important in infobox usage. If including a Europe map is considered potentially misleading, then it may be more appropriate either to include both Europe and Asia for context, or to limit the infobox strictly to the most precise location maps.
::From what I can see, this seems to be more a matter of editorial judgment than a strict restriction in policy.
::Thanks, Ornek11222 (talk) 08:39, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Ofcourse that is possible. Shadow4dark (talk) 01:34, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

About the Mohammed Deif ↗ main picture

Why do you want the image released by Hamas ↗ (a terrorist organization) so badly? Wikipedia is based in the US. You're from the Netherlands. Both the United States and the European Union list Hamas as a terrorist organization. Candidyeoman55 (talk) 13:08, 9 July 2026 (UTC)

:I reintroduced your picture for now. I have concerns about it (AI editing, among others), but until a better picture is found, I'll leave it there. Candidyeoman55 (talk) 13:09, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
::look I dont support terrorism i just want the best picture. Shadow4dark (talk) 08:01, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
