Napier and its deputy mayors

Hi TheLoyalOrder,

I recently compiled a near-complete list of the deputy mayors of Napier ↗, ranging from circa 1902 to present day. However, there are still some gaps, whether it may be the full name of some deputy mayors or just incomplete terms (especially around the 50's and the 70's). I noticed you're from Hawke's Bay and that you have also made extensive contributions to topics related to local Government in New Zealand. From this, you may have a better idea of filling in those gaps in the list. If you get the time, would you be willing to take a look at the list and assist in completing it?

Thank you, Ebalia Nux (talk) 22:19, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

:i can look into it TheLoyalOrder (talk) 22:47, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

Sources in {{tl|New Zealand mayoral election table row}}

I was trying to fix some broken references on pages and found that the sources parameter was deleted from the code, see Teahouse ↗. Is there a reason that you did this or would you be able to restore that parameter? Thanks Freddieh9 (talk) 23:25, 7 May 2026 (UTC)

:i thought it made the table too wide/busy was trynna to cut back on the table size, i can add it back as an optional thing. hadnt had time to clean up those articles TheLoyalOrder (talk) 23:33, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks, that would be helpful as 2004 New Zealand local elections ↗ is currently a mess Freddieh9 (talk) 23:35, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
::Also, I don't think that the table is too big, if you compare it to the rest of the tables on that page they are all the same size, and in my opinion a sources section makes sense Freddieh9 (talk) 23:37, 7 May 2026 (UTC)

Election result queries

Kia ora Jakob, could you please give some guidance? I'm working on a 1989 election article and in most constituencies, there were four positions available. How do you compute vote percentages and turnout in such cases, as voters had four votes each? Feel free to reply here or just edit the article itself with how it should be done. :you cant really calculate turnout figures in multi member districts; in single member districts you just add all the numbers but with multi-member people have more than 1 vote so that doesnt work. i would try to find the turnout figure though this often isnt given by constituency for older elections. newspapers can be helpful sometimes, there is a 1989 local election report by the Department of Internal Affairs but its not online so you'd have to find a physical copy (I think the nat lib has these in Wellington).
:Assuming the constituency boundaries match with the district council boundaries you could use the turnout for the mayoral elections as an estimate TheLoyalOrder (talk) 23:33, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
:also, on the informal votes I think Kaikoura and Nelson councils just didn't report to the Press what the informal counts were rather than there not being any. Also I would remove the blank ballots row as I think the numbers on these weren't tracked/reported back then TheLoyalOrder (talk) 23:40, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for that! '''<span style="color:var(--color-base, #202122);">Schwede</span><span style="color: #FF4500;">66</span>''' 04:18, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
::Ok, 1989 Nelson-Marlborough Regional Council election ↗ and Nelson-Marlborough Regional Council ↗ are now "ready". If you can spot any possible improvements, please let me know. And it has occurred to me why I couldn't find the Tasman mayoral results - they had already voted in most of that council earlier that year.
