National varieties of English

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello. In a recent edit to the page :Papua conflict ↗, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English ↗ in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English ↗. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English ↗. For something related to another English-speaking country ↗, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the ''original'' author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style ↗. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk ↗. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-lang --> '''<span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="color: black;">Acroterion</span> <small><span style="color: gray;">(talk)</span></small></span>''' 02:49, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

Congratulations, and thank you for helping expand the scope of Wikipedia! We hope you will continue making quality contributions. <br />

The article has been assessed as '''Start-Class''', which is recorded on its talk page ↗. Most new articles start out as Stub-Class or Start-Class and then attain higher grades as they develop ↗ over time. You may like to take a look at the grading scheme ↗ to see how you can improve the article.

<div class="autoconfirmed-show">Since you have made at least 10 edits over more than four days, you can now create articles yourself ↗ without posting a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for creation ↗ if you prefer.</div>

If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask at the '''<span class="plainlinks">[//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:WikiProject_Articles_for_creation/Help_desk&action=edit&section=new&nosummary=1&preload=Template:AfC_talk/HD_preload&preloadparams%5B%5D=Kamituga help desk]</span>'''.<span class="unconfirmed-show"> Once you have made at least 10 edits and had an account for at least four days, you will have the option to create articles yourself ↗ without posting a request to Articles for creation ↗.</span>

Wikipedia and copyright

30px|link=|alt=Control copyright icon ↗ Hello Wowzers122, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to :Nduma Defense of Congo-Renovated ↗ have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain ↗ or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible ↗ copyright license. (''To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission ↗''.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright ↗ and plagiarism ↗ issues.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked ↗ from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-copyright-new --> — Diannaa&nbsp;(talk) 14:29, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
: Thank you for notifying me about that I plan on going back and rewriting it to paraphrase it better as well as cite my edits. Wowzers122 (talk) 22:36, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

I'd Like to thanks you for helping me keep the 2020 Democratic Republic of the Congo attacks ↗ updated. --Garmin21 (talk) 19:12, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

Add proper sources and don't copy

Always source what you add and don't copy from sources. Many of your statements are mostly copied except for a few minor word alterations. LéKashmiriSocialiste (talk) 18:23, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
: Sorry about that I will try to summarize my sources better. Wowzers122 (talk) 03:14, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
::Here's a hint: read the source; hide the source; wait 60 seconds; write your summary in a text editor based on what you remember, ''without looking at the source'': unless you've trained in raw memorisation, your wording will almost certainly differ from the source; ''after'' you've written your text, go back to the source and make corrections where your text is misleading or inaccurate, since it's likely that you mis-remembered some details. Boud (talk) 15:01, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Somali Guardian

Please add any sources you can find about ''Somali Guardian ↗'' at Talk:Timeline of the Tigray War#Somali Guardian ↗. The claims made by the source are highly significant for the Tigray War, and so far, we don't have any third-party sources that either claim that the newspaper is serious or that it provides fake news. We don't even have the website's own claims about who runs it or who the chief editor is. Boud (talk) 16:38, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Also on Map Ethiopia?

Are you the same person as Woofers who handles the Map Ethiopia twitter account? I can assist in relocating some of the photos and films displayed, as I know Tigray quite well. Jnyssen (talk) 05:29, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
:{{re|Jnyssen}} I am not.
: You can always dm the Twitter account.

Discretionary sanctions alert

You have shown interest in the Horn of Africa ↗ (defined as including Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and adjoining areas if involved in related disputes). Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions ↗ is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions ↗ on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies ↗, or the page-specific restrictions ↗, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions ↗ and the Arbitration Committee's ↗ decision here ↗. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Map legends

Hello. Just a thought re maps like this ↗ – it might be better to leave out the legend and instead put it in the caption section (like e.g. 2012 Senegalese presidential election ↗), as this will ensure the text displays at a size that is legible to readers (the Algerian maps display at a size that is slightly too small for the legend to be legible (at least for me)). You can also add the legend to the description on commons so other language wikis can copy it across. Cheers, <span style="color: orange;">Number</span> <span style="color: green;">5</span><span style="color: blue;">7</span> ↗ 21:08, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
:{{Reply to|Number 57}} First, I would like to say that out of respect, I have enlarged the legend on all the maps. However, I do believe that all of the previous maps (well maybe not the third one) were legible as they were on both mobile and PC (both of which are old and small), nor have I gotten a complaint about the legend from any of the people I've shown it to on my social medias. I try my best to make sure legends on my maps are legible and not too overly complicated or cluttery. Unfortunately, I am only human, and so my judgement is never perfect even then I don't understand why it would be so hard to increase the size of the map in the infobox (isn't that what makes SVGs so great?) or better yet, why can't a reader simply click on the image and enlarge it? The reason why I've moved away from legends in the caption recently (beyond it looking ugly in my opinion) is that people should be able to take and use the maps for whatever they want without having to add their own legend outside of Wikipedia. This isn't a theoretical either. I've seen my maps posted in the wild on social media and I've seen Wikipedia maps (not mine) used in papers. A smaller reason I don't like to use legends in the captions of my national maps is that some foreign wikis seem to be allergic to them. A clear example is that the captionless map ↗ of the 2023 Senegalese presidential election is used on english Wikipedia and other wikis but others use the captioned one ↗. Wowzers122 (talk) 03:36, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
::It was only a suggestion. But I would say that rather than talking to people on social media, it really should be discussed here with other editors. There seems to be far too much off-wiki discussion, which is not really fair to editors who are not on such platforms.
::The advantage of having the legend in the caption section is that editors do not have to click through to read it (plus legends that I guess it would be difficult for you to expand (like 2019 ↗) appear blurry at the scale currently shown). And I would also suggest that things published on commons should be primarily done so with use on Wikipedia in mind, not really off-wiki. Cheers, <span style="color: orange;">Number</span> <span style="color: green;">5</span><span style="color: blue;">7</span> ↗ 03:45, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
:::{{Reply to|Number 57}} My nerdiness for elections does not stop at Wikipedia and I will enjoy that hobby on social media with other people, including fellow editors. However, beyond presentation, finding data, finding shapefiles, etc, I do not have discussions about my problems with Wikipedia pages or take their opinions into consideration. Anytime I've had a qualm about a page, such as existing data or text, I've gone to the talk page and spoke my grievances. And any editor can message me on my talk page or a Wikipedia page (such as you have) and I will be here to respond.
:::Everything I post on wikicommons I do so with Wikipedia in mind. However, wikicommons is not just a database for wiki foundation images but also has the aim of being a media file repository that "makes available public domain and freely-licensed educational media content to '''all'''. ↗" As such, I want to make sure everyone who wishes to use my images (and I'm not talking about election nerd twitter) can do so without having to go through the process of adding a legend. Wowzers122 (talk) 05:18, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
::::Apologies, I wasn't trying to say you shouldn't do this beyond Wikipedia, just that discussions regarding how to do things on Wikipedia (which would include presentation) should be done on Wikipedia so that all editors have the opportunity to chip in (there have been a few times in the last couple of years when editors have said that they made a change as a result of a discussion with other editors off-wiki, which isn't really inclusive or fair). 2024 Rwandan general election

Hi Wowzers122, thank you for reminding me about "Thats not how openings are written", so I will follow the example in MOS:TITLEABSENTBOLD next time in other articles.

For "some information were removed," I thought the list of parties in "Member parties of Rwanda's ruling government coalition ..." was unnecessary, but apparently not. Is there other relevant information I removed?

I am confused about "a lot of the new wording sounds weird and unencyclopedic." Could you be more specific and give me 3 quotes? Or was it just the active voice? 174.92.25.207 ↗ (talk) 04:09, 18 July 2024 (UTC)

:I am having a hard time seeing how my "wording sounds weird" while the following weird grammatical errors exist earlier on this talk page:
:* "social medias" (correctly, either "socials" or "social media accounts")
:* "a qualm about a page, such as existing data or text" (missing "about" after "such as")
:* "spoke my grievances" (correctly, air/express/vent/voice)
:There is also unnatural English in the original version such as "expressed thanks to voters" (more Google hits for "thanked voters") EDIT: the actual reason is because I usually see the more common "expressed his gratitude to voters".
:I will perform some less controversial copyediting without removing any facts. Please state any specific concerns. 174.92.25.207 ↗ (talk) 04:46, 18 July 2024 (UTC)

::Both "expressed thanks to voters" and "thanked voters" are grammatically correct and natural. The former is more formal, while the latter is more casual.

::I didn't like what you removed in shortening phrases like "approved constitutional amendments" to just "allow". I feel like it removes the specifics of what the referendum did and changes it to something more basic. I'm also not a fan of changing "Kagame told France 24 that he intended to run for president again in the 2024 election" to "promised France 24 to run in 2024." Saying he intended to do something and that he promised to run gives a different connotation.

::For weird wording, removing words like "announced" feels weird. The original sentence was "Kagame announced his bid for a fourth term on 20 September 2023 in an interview," and you changed to "Kagame bid for a fourth term on 20 September 2023 in a Jeune Afrique interview." I don't like how that sounds.

::Yes, I would prefer if the parties in the coalition endorsing were listed. I also didn't like removing "if registered in time" to just "wanted," or removing the detail that Ingabire had previously been disqualified from running to just that he was convicted. I'm not a fan of removing the fact that the three candidates were the only legal candidates running last time. Lastly, I didn't like changing "Kagame pledged to continue his policies upon reelection" to "pledged unchanged policies."

::Maybe I'm being too picky, and if you think so, I won't stop you from re-adding your changes. However, please don't do what you did to the lead again. Wowzers122 (talk) 05:05, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
:::I was indeed wrong to write the unnatural "Kagame bid for". After rereading that, I agree it feels weird, and I think the original "Kagame announced his bid for" is more common. You were not "being too picky." I am in the minority of Wikipedia editors that cares about WP:TERSE ↗, while the majority just uses long sentences with passive voice and buried verbs, and this time I might have cut too many words.
:::"intended" vs "promised", I used "promised" based on the election promise ↗ collocation. I suppose promises are made to voters not media. I'll leave the word "intended" with its connotations, as well as other DUE POV things like the only legal candidates.
:::It is a bit like quoting out of context to say I shortened '"approved constitutional amendments" to just "allow"'. The full context is that I changed 'A referendum in 2015 approved ''constitutional'' amendments" that would allow ...' to 'A ''constitutional'' referendum in 2015 allowed ...' I can't imagine it could do anything other than approve amendments, but I will avoid changing that part as I can't think of how to squeeze the word "amendments" in. You seem to dislike non-monetary nouns after "pledged". Ok, for consistency, I won't change the other two "pledged to"s either.
:::Ingabire's pronouns are she/her. I think you are claiming causation for "Ingabire had previously been disqualified." The article is not clear, and I will try to reword the sentences to emphasize the causation.
:::I won't touch the lead sentence, but I need to remove "by many" per WP:WEASEL.
:::I might tag "if registered in time" with {{t|clarify}}. I think I'm missing the context and background as to why that's important. Perhaps you could edit in an explanation. 174.92.25.207 ↗ (talk) 06:27, 18 July 2024 (UTC)

Disc logo

Dear Wowzers122,

I noticed you reverted an edit which added a new disc logo to the US political parties list—why did you do so? (I’m not mad at you—I’m just wondering). 73.208.8.125 ↗ (talk) 00:45, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
:The file you added lacked a source. Wowzers122 (talk) 01:20, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
::Ok—what do you mean? I checked and it looked like there was a source (own work).
::(This is the same person as the person who started this conversation—I just forgot to sign into my account the first time.) RiverMan18 (talk) 01:26, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
:::What do you mean own work? An image should only be used if it's the official logo used by the party, not made up by someone. Wowzers122 (talk) 01:30, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
::::It’s based off of the political party’s official logo, like all the other disc logos. RiverMan18 (talk) 01:52, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
:::::Use the actual party logo, not some made up thing that's original research ↗. Wowzers122 (talk) 01:55, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
::::::You sure? Again, all the existing disc logos are almost certainly based off of the official logos but are user-created (ex. the Liberal Party USA official logo and the Liberal Party USA election disc), and those are still up. I think that might be in part because the existing party logos are non-free images or something (I’m sorry—I’m not very familiar with Wikipedia policy—I’m a newish user myself).
::::::I’m just worried that this might affect all the disc logos. RiverMan18 (talk) 02:03, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
:::::::Other disc logos are acceptable because they are officially used by the party, such as the Republican disc, which appears on their website (https://gop.com/) and social media. In contrast, the Conservative Party only uses a single official logo (https://www.cpnys.org/). Any other symbols would constitute original research, as they are not officially recognized by the party. Wowzers122 (talk) 02:20, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
::::::::Ok. So would disc logos which are based on the original logo (for example, the party’s logo or a symbol associated with the party in a circle) be allowed? (ex. essentially any of the disc logos we currently have besides the Democratic and Republican ones)
::::::::Thanks! RiverMan18 (talk) 03:07, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
::::::::I saw that you removed the Working Families Party disc logo (I can see why--it has little resemblance to the actual logo). Would another disc which bears more resemblance to the logo (ex. the old "WF" Working Families Party logo in a circle) be ok?
::::::::FYI: I added a note to the political parties list about the election discs.
::::::::I'm sorry to keep bugging you about this. RiverMan18 (talk) 01:54, 10 December 2024 (UTC)

Your reversion of my edit due to "Unsourced"

Hello. You reverted my edit due to it being "Unsourced". However, if you would look closely, the information in that graph reflects the information already present in the same part of the infobox, which is cited already. So I would like to hear why you would say such things. Jayson (talk) 04:08, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
:What source shows that position on that graph? Synthesizing information together is original research ↗. The infobox also doesn't even provide a section for political graphs. Wowzers122 (talk) 04:19, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
::The info box claims the economic position of the party is left-wing wing, with a citation. I put it exactly in that position on the graph. The same goes for social issues. I put it exactly as it was described TEN PIXELS ABOVE. Jayson (talk) 04:21, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
:::I am going to explain it to you the most simple I can: The information has 2 citations that both say that Aontu is Economically Left-wing and Socially Right-wing. All I did was make a graph for it. It doesn't matter whether they took the time to make a graph for it, but they described the position in terms that I could use to make a graph. It said it was economically left wing, and I put it on the X axis that exact way. If you want to we can put up a talk page for what "left wing" means on the exact location of the political compass. I will not put the graph back, but I want discussion surrounding whether it is good or not. Thank you. Jayson (talk) 04:32, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
::::You're right that I was mistaken, they do convey the same information, but they don’t include any graph like that. The position of the graph is arbitrary. Why is the dot in one area and not another within the economic left, social right field? There needs to be a source stating the dot should be in a certain area and those increments need meaning to them. Additionally, it is redundant since the positions are already shown, and there shouldn't even be a political graph because the infobox does not provide a parameter for it. Wowzers122 (talk) 04:58, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
:::::Yes, I agree with what you said. It is a bit vague. I will now explain it, with the example being the x axis. The furthest left is the "far left" and the center is well, the center. The one in between those two is "left wing" and how I came up with this is, after multiple years of reading Wikipedia articles, I noticed parties, for example, "left wing to far left" like the La France Insoumise, I thought it meant somewhere in between those points. After a while it kinda got ingrained in my head, which is why both my description and the articles description are too vague to do so. So I think I put that there to try and experiment with graphs on wikipedia, see what the community thinks of graphs that visualise it, but after all this I kinda think "what does it mean at this point to be left wing" and "does it mean broudly on the left, a specific point?" and now I think "maybe not all sources have the same measurements" so I now say we need more input and it was probably a bad idea in the first place. Jayson (talk) 05:10, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

Dear Wowzers,

Please let me know if this is not an appropriate reason, but there was an agreement on an RFC I did ↗ that the disc logos should be removed (as they have been) and that party color should be used to primarily distinguish the political parties on articles such as the party list. (If that’s not the conclusion you take away from the RFC, please let me know). The creation of the new template was a way to better emphasize the color in the absence of the disc logos.

Again, please let me know if you believe this to be insufficient reason for the new template or an insufficient consensus. If so, I will try to solicit opinions from other users (if you believe that’s necessary) or remove the template from the pages it is currently up on (I put it up on other US political party pages, but I will remove it if you want me to.)

Thanks! RiverMan18 (talk) 04:48, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
:The RFC was about the disc logos, not the creation of an entirely new infobox. Establishing a new template as a standard requires consensus, and I, for one, oppose it. There is no reason why American parties should be presented differently from other parties. The colors are already displayed in the infobox, and adding a large colored area is ugly imo. Wowzers122 (talk) 11:02, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
::Ok—thanks! I’ll try to get a consensus—I’ll make sure to remove the current templates until the consensus is reached (and will only put them back if it is in favor). RiverMan18 (talk) 16:38, 14 December 2024 (UTC)

Seeking a third opinion on proposed changes to List of political parties in the United States ↗

Hi Wowzers122,
I'm sorry to bug you (again), but I was wondering if you could help me and another editor out with a potential problem. Another editor (who does not have an account) was wondering if they could edit the List of political parties in the United States ↗ article in ways which might impact the article greatly. Although we do agree on some things, we disagree on others, and I was wondering if you could provide a third opinion on the matter due to the disagreements and the scale of the changes.

Here is a link to the prior discussion. ↗

Thanks!

(Yes, we did start an RFC on the matter which was shut down due to problems with WP:RFC. I'm sorry--I'm still relatively new to Wikipedia.) RiverMan18 (talk) 23:24, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

Gedo state federal Somali

Dear Wikipedia Administrators and Editors,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am reaching out in regard to a recent edit I made to the Wikipedia page about the Gedo region in Somalia. I changed the classification of Gedo from being a regional administrative division under Jubaland to a federal member state in formation. This edit was reverted, and I would like to respectfully appeal that decision by providing further context and justification based on recent political and administrative developments within Somalia.

### Background:

Gedo, while historically recognized as one of the regions within Jubaland, is currently at the center of a significant political realignment in Somalia. The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has, in recent months, asserted direct administrative and military control over the region, particularly in the town of Beled-Xaawo. This move follows ongoing disputes between the federal authorities and the Jubaland administration regarding the legitimacy and governance of Gedo.

As of recent reports (mid-2025), the Somali federal government has:

- Dispatched federal security forces to Gedo, particularly Beled-Xaawo, removing regional Jubaland forces.
- Appointed new federal-level officials, including a regional NISA commander, without coordination with Jubaland.
- Publicly stated, through government channels and allied media, that it does not recognize Jubaland’s claim over Gedo.
- Actively explored the possibility of formalizing Gedo as a federal member state in its own right, in line with growing regional demands and the political climate.

### Why the Edit is Justified:

My edit reflects the **ongoing political transition** and current **factual control** of Gedo by the federal government. The status of Gedo as a "region under Jubaland" is no longer uncontested, and therefore the Wikipedia entry should reflect the **disputed and dynamic reality** rather than present it as a settled matter.

This change was not made as an act of personal opinion or original research, but rather based on:

- Official statements from the Federal Government of Somalia.
- Reliable news coverage from Somali media and international sources.
- Direct military and administrative actions by the Somali government on the ground.

I would be happy to provide citations and references from credible sources to support this update, including:

1. [Caasimada.net - Federal Government explores new Gedo strategy](https://www.caasimada.net/xog-df-oo-kala-dooraneysa-3-tallaabo-oo-kiiska-jubaland-ay-ku-wajihi-karto)

### Request:

I respectfully request that the Wikipedia page on Gedo be updated to reflect the **current political status and federal presence**, acknowledging that Gedo is a **disputed region** and currently under **direct federal administration**, with **active efforts to establish it as a federal member state**.

Please advise me on any format requirements or additional references you may need to validate this change. I am committed to ensuring that the information on Wikipedia remains neutral, verifiable, and in line with Wikipedia's core content policies.

Thank you very much for your time and understanding.

Sincerely,

Xaliimo123 (talk) 11:38, 5 August 2025 (UTC)

Maakhir today part of Northeastern Somalia

maakhir is not State
Dear Wikipedia Administrators,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to formally appeal the reversion of edits made to the Wikipedia entry regarding Maakhir, which were intended to reflect its updated political and administrative status as of July–August 2025. Based on recent and verifiable developments, Maakhir is no longer simply a historical or regional name, but is now part of the newly ratified North Eastern Federal State (SSC-Khaatumo), as officially recognized by the Federal Government of Somalia.

🔹 Reliable and Recent Sources:

1. Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs & Reconciliation (MoIFAR), Somalia

Official Statement dated 1 August 2025 confirming the completion of the state formation process in Laascaanood for the SSC-Khaatumo State, with inclusion of Maakhir region.
(moifar.gov.so/en/2025)

2. Federal Government Weekly Briefing – 1 August 2025

Acknowledges the establishment of SSC-Khaatumo as a federal member state with inclusive representation from regions including Maakhir.
(moi.gov.so)

3. Caasimada Online (Somali news outlet), 15 July 2025

Reports Maakhir’s inclusion in the new federal entity and its administrative realignment under SSC-Khaatumo.
(caasimada.net)

🔹 Reason for the Appeal:

The content I submitted aimed to reflect these credible developments and enhance the article's accuracy. The reversion to the previous version, classifying Maakhir merely as a historical or unrecognized region, no longer aligns with current realities. The updated content is not original research, but rather a summary of events documented by official Somali government sources and well-established media outlets.

🔹 Request:

I respectfully request that the article be reviewed and revised to include:

The updated status of Maakhir as part of SSC-Khaatumo/Northeast Federal State.

References to the July–August 2025 developments with proper citation.

Neutral language that adheres to Wikipedia standards but reflects the most recent facts.

Thank you for your time and dedication to maintaining the quality and accuracy of Wikipedia content. I am happy to provide further references or make additional adjustments as needed.

Sincerely,

Xaliimo123 (talk) 13:18, 5 August 2025 (UTC)

DCWC closing update

Two weeks ago, the 2025 Developing Countries WikiContest ↗ came to a close! And returning to the podium for the second year in a row, <span class="nowrap">30px|Gold Belt Buckle – 1st place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} takes the Gold Belt Buckle with a mind-boggling 946 points from his series of articles on sportpersons. Congratulations to our winners!

Amazingly, the award for the most countries covered goes to both {{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} and {{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}}, who each submitted articles under 30 flags! {{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} also wins for writing the most quality articles (16 good articles). For submitting 16 articles related to El Salvador, {{DCWC participant/2025|PizzaKing13}} wins the award for most submissions under one country. The award for most submissions related to women goes to both {{DCWC participant/2025|Spookyaki}} (7 biographies about women) and {{DCWC participant/2025|Vigilantcosmicpenguin}} (21 related articles). And for the second year, {{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}} wins for the most reviews, having submitted 21!

Among the participants' contributions were 2 FAs, 5 FLs, 124 GAs, and an uncounted number of DYKs, ITNs, and reviews of every kind! Regardless of your level of participation, every contestant can be proud to have contributed towards a major step in countering the systemic bias on Wikipedia ↗. Hey Wowzers122, the Developing Countries WikiContest ↗ is back for a third year, and '''sign-ups are now open ↗'''! The contest will run from 1{{nbsp}}July to 30{{nbsp}}September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia ↗.

Thanks to everyone who answered the call for coordinators, and please welcome the new faces on the coordinator team: the 2024 Gold Belt Buckle winner {{user|Generalissima}}; and the record-holder for most India-related submissions in 2024, {{user|Magentic Manifestations}}! Following feedback from last year, adjustments have been made to the scoring rules ↗; discussion can be found on the contest talk page ↗.

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or contact one of the coordinators: {{user|Arconning}}, {{user|Generalissima}}, {{user|Magentic Manifestations}}, {{user|sawyer777}}, or {{user|TechnoSquirrel69}}. <small>(To unsubscribe from these updates, remove yourself from this list ↗.
