Hello. I saw that you had made a good faith edit to Jersey ↗. While some of the formatting changes were fine, I reverted the edit as a whole because:
Also, per MOS:COLON ↗, "when what follows the colon is also a complete sentence, start it with a capital letter, but otherwise do not capitalize after a colon except where doing so is needed for another reason, such as for a proper name."

Quotes and punctuation

I see that over at the Thomas More Law Center ↗ article, you moved some periods and commas from outside the end of a quote to inside the quotation marks, which is understandable (it's how it's long been taught in the US and some other locations.) However, the Wikipedia standard for this is for the closing punctuation to go inside the quotes only if a full sentence is being quoted. This is called ''logical quotation'', and you can see more about this in our Manual of Style over at MOS:LQ ↗. I have undone that aspect of your edit on that article, and suggest you keep that in mind (and consider whether you've done similar edits recently at other articles that should be adjusted.) Thanks for trying to improve Wikipedia! -- Nat Gertler (talk) 13:48, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

:And as long as I'm pointing things out, I see that over at Ketamine ↗, you added a couple of piped Wikilinks, in the form of ''<nowiki>cancer pain ↗</nowiki>''. Let me tell you a nice little trick about Wikilinks: they ignore the case of the first character. Wikilinking ''<nowiki>cancer pain ↗</nowiki>'' creates a link right to Cancer pain ↗, and keeps the content easier for other people to follow. I have simplified those links. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 14:12, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
::Isn't it easier when it's unknown whether the page one wants to link to exists using the same title to use the piped version as it appears for cancer pain? Cancer pain may be one example, but say I'd like to link to cancer pain from a more specific term—e.g., chronic pain stemming from previous head and neck carcinoma. J F-T (talk) 14:50, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
:::Piping is very useful when you want to go to some specific page not identified by the displayed text. It's just unneeded for when the page linked to has a title the same as the displayed text, just with the first letter capitalized, as in the above example. It's also unneeded if the display text is the same as the page title plus more letters with no spaces or punctuation -- ''<nowiki>graphic novel ↗ization</nowiki>'' shows up as ''graphic novel ↗ization'' -- the whole thing is linked, and is simpler than ''<nowiki>graphic novelization ↗</nowiki>'' would be. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 15:52, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
:Ah, this is good to know! I hadn't noticed the difference on the MoS for whatever reason. Thanks for teaching me! J F-T (talk) 14:45, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

MOS:OVERLINK and copyediting

Hello I believe you should familiarise yourself with MOS:OVERLINK ↗. Also I think you should refrain from copyediting when English is not your native tongue. You introduced a litany of errors into Golden Retriever ↗ that have been reverted. Traumnovelle (talk) 21:45, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

:Please do provide evidence. I am from Michigan; English is my native language. Please refrain from assumptions. J F-T (talk) 21:50, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
::You changed: 'Flat or wavy double coat with good feathering, dense water-resistant undercoat' to 'Flat or wavy double coat with good feathering, dense, water-resistant undercoat' when these are two independent entries in a list. You added a god awful amount of commas, that interrupt the text too often. You changed register to registry. You added hyphens to 'early twentieth century' and 'all black-coloured'. You replaced 'whilst' with 'while'. Overall your copyediting made the article worse to read: from minor issues such as too many commas and unnecessary usage of semicola to more serious ones that change the meaning of the text. Traumnovelle (talk) 22:24, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
:::I am sorry that you've been offended by my edits. Unfortunately, I am only a human. Equally unfortunately, your comment containing "you added a g-d awful amount of comments" is uncivil and directly conflicts with one of Wikipedia's founding principles. It's a real bummer to see a discussion turn into something like this, and I just don't want to see you get blocked or finding yourself in hot water with the community because of how you've recently behaved toward me here. I just want to quietly and informally give you a nudge on the shoulder about Wikipedia's civility policy so that you can correct this behavior before it leads you into any trouble. I wish you well and hope that you'll take this as an opportunity to self-evaluate how you respond and communicate with others you disagree with. Furthermore, I hope that you'll do what you need to do in order to keep calm, remain civil, and keep discussions positive and focused toward our primary goal of building an encyclopedia. Thank you for taking the time to read this message, and I hope you have a great rest of your day. J F-T (talk) 23:04, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to '''the Arab–Israeli conflict ↗''', a topic designated as '''''contentious ↗'''''. A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee ↗. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators ↗ have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit <strong>carefully and constructively</strong>, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Recent edits

Regarding your recent edits to Diaspora ↗, it is clear to tell you are passionate about the term and how it pertains to you and your story. I think I can fathom a guess how it could pertain to you and your story, simply by a 2 second glance at your Wikipedia profile. As Wikipedia is based on neutrality, in order to edit constructively one needs to examine how the world revolves not around yourself personally, but everybody in tandem universally. This being said, other than unilaterally acting in contravention of MOS BCE which you thought necessary, the removal of Jerusalem in the Armenian Quarter makes no sense. This aswell as your exaggerations for a certain polity is not helpful for the millions who have their own diaspora story. They are equally as important but not taking away from your story either. Far from it. Thank you. JJNito197 (talk) 01:12, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
