Civil War
# A defeated army can linger on for a while before disbanding

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Welcome to Wikipedia ↗. We appreciate your contributions ↗, but in one of your recent edits to :Russian Civil War ↗, it appears that you have added original research ↗, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say ↗. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source ↗ for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources ↗. Use of multiple accounts
Hi, Ömereditss. My name is Tamzin, and one thing I do here on Wikipedia is deal with potential misuse of multiple accounts ↗. Reviewing drafts
I see that you moved the page Draft:Temryuk campaign in Ingushetia ↗ to Temryuk campaign in Ingushetia ↗, but I'm afraid there were several problems with that move. Accepting a draft and making it into an article involves more than just moving the page; it is necessary to make various updates, such as dealing with any Article for Creation templates in the draft. Also, it is at best questionable whether the draft was ready to become an article, as much of it was written in very poor English, and there were dubious elements in the text, such as "In 1557, Kabarda voluntarily became a Russian citizen", which makes no sense, as Kabarda was a place, not a person. Please don't review draft articles unless and until you have much more experience, and when that happens please apply to become an AfC reviewer, rather than just moving drafts. 25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm Jolielover. I noticed that you recently removed content ↗ from :Battle of Kozludzha (1828) ↗ without adequately explaining why. :::@Jolielover If you tell me the delete command I won't do it again Ömereditss (talk) 08:43, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
::::@Jolielover: What you're missing here is that the article's author was an older account of Ömereditss (not an LTA). Ömereditss, normally if someone blanks an article they wrote, an editor will then tag it for deletion, but here that wasn't obvious to Jolielover since it's a different username. In the future, if you write an article and then want it deleted, and no one else has made significant edits, you can just add the code {{tl|db-g7}} at the top of the page. See CSD G7 ↗ for more information on that rule. There are similar templates for other situations, e.g. {{tl|db-g3}} for a page that is vandalism. <span style="font-family:courier"> -- <span style="color:#E6007A">Tamzin</span></span>[<i style="color:#E6007A">cetacean needed</i>] <small>(they|xe|🤷)</small> 08:47, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

Copyright violations from Wikipedia translations
25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from one or more pages to :Battle of Calafat ↗. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing ↗ '''requires that you provide attribution''' to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an '''edit summary ↗''' on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking ↗ it to the source page. Sample wording for this is given here ↗. If you forgot, or were not aware of this requirement, attribution '''must be given retroactively ↗''', for example:
: <code><nowiki>NOTE: Content in the edit of 01:25, January 25, 2023 was translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at :fr:Exact name of French article ↗; see its history for attribution.</nowiki></code>
Retroactive attribution may be added using a dummy edit ↗; see Repairing insufficient attribution ↗.
It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{tl|translated page}} template on the talk page of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, you must add attribution retrospectively ↗, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia ↗. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-translation --> (t · c ↗) '''<span style="color: black">buidhe</span>''' 15:50, 26 May 2025 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello. Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia ↗. I noticed that your recent edit to :Ottoman campaign in the North Caucasus ↗ did not have an edit summary ↗. Collaboration among editors is fundamental to Wikipedia, and every edit should be explained by a clear edit summary ↗, or by discussion on the Talk page. Please use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to describe what it changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief ↗.
The edit summary field looks like this:
{{Edit summary field/OOUI}}
'''Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make.''' When logged in to your Wikipedia account ↗, you can give yourself a reminder by setting {{myprefs|3|check={{int:tog-forceeditsummary}}}}, and then click the "{{int:saveprefs}}" button.

Introduction to contentious topics
{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to '''the topics of Kurds and Kurdistan, broadly construed''', a topic designated as '''''contentious ↗'''''. A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee ↗. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators ↗ have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit <strong>carefully and constructively</strong>, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia ↗;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines ↗;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system ↗.
<p>Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics ''procedures'', you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard ↗ or you may learn more about this contentious topic here ↗. Question about your citations
Hi—may I ask how you created the citations for this edit ↗? Perryprog (talk) 15:20, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
:Hello, I don’t understand. your question Ömereditss (talk) 15:55, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
::Sorry—what I mean is what steps did you take to create the references in the linked edit. Did you use a tool to create them, did you copy and paste them from somewhere else, or some other method? Perryprog (talk) 15:58, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
:::What Happened? Ömereditss (talk) 16:00, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
::::The ISBNs (the identifiers for the books you referenced) are both invalid in a way that wouldn't be from a typo; I was just curious to know how specifically that came to happen. It commonly is something that occurs when using an LLM (as in like an AI chatbot) like ChatGPT or similar tools; did you use something like that? Perryprog (talk) 16:04, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
:::::To be honest, yes, I used AI. If using AI is against Wikipedia rules, I won’t use it anymore. Ömereditss (talk) 16:13, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
::::::Thanks for being up-front about it! It's not strictly forbidden, but a <em>lot</em> of care should be taken. That edit was otherwise fine, but for what it's worth the citations generated by the "cite" button are going to get you better results. (See this page ↗ for a guide on how to do that.) Really the most important thing is that you heavily review your edits, and ensure that what you're saying is what's actually backed up by the source. It's super long, but Wikipedia:Large language models ↗ has a bunch of great advice on it. I'd say it's well worth reading. Perryprog (talk) 16:22, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
:::::::Thank you. I will do it myself from now on. Thanks for the information. Ömereditss (talk) 16:35, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
::::::::Of course! And thanks for your contributions. They <em>are</em> greatly appreciated. :) Perryprog (talk) 18:17, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
