Your edits
Hello, could we talk about your edits to Léo Wanner ↗? This edit in particular: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=L%C3%A9o_Wanner&diff=prev&oldid=1350536287 ↗ I noticed that you removed the harvid citation patterns and then converted everything to inline <ref> patterns -- is there a reason for that? It makes the article changes you made difficult to understand when reviewing the diff. Am I correct in my understanding that you essentially changed the page structure to make Political Activism, etc. a higher level heading?
I would like to go back and fix the references, but before I do so, please help me understand the nature of your edits. Thank you! <span style="color:#a1012b;background-color:#fbe2ef;border-radius:4px;padding:0px 3px;font-family:'Comic Relief', 'Comic Sans', sans-serif;">'''Chao Garden 🌱'''</span> (hi) 17:20, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
:Ah, I'd like to mention another edit you made:
:In the info box, you converted several plainlist templates into just lines with br element breaks. Generally it's better to use a real list for accessibility purposes: assistive technology that parses a page (like a screen reader) will be able to identify a real list with X number of items in it, versus just text that has a line break which has little meaning to a screen reader. I'll fix this as well.
:EDIT NOTE: I have updated the article to manually revert what I respectfully consider to be unnecessary and verbose changes to the already established citation structure of the article (reference: sfn documentation ↗). I have also restored some of the lists that were in the infobox and restored the original article heading -- my reasoning for this is in the edit comment: in short, I don't agree that "Early life" and "Personal life" should be separate heading level 2s, as they have significant overlap (someone's "early life" ''is'' "personal life") and the sections themselves are very short. I kept some of your other edits, such as to her occupation and the use of née in the lead. Please let me know if you have any questions.<span style="color:#a1012b;background-color:#fbe2ef;border-radius:4px;padding:0px 3px;font-family:'Comic Relief', 'Comic Sans', sans-serif;">'''Chao Garden 🌱'''</span> (hi) 17:28, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
::Hi @Chao Garden,
::Thank you for your messages - I am sorry if my edits upset you in anyway (this was not my intention!)
::I was doing a review of Léo Wanner ↗, and removed the Shortened footnotes style citation as this style is typically used when citing different parts of the same source, which none of the sources had. I also removed some of the overlinking from the citations (such as |via=Gallica), and edited the url for "Naissance de Berger Léonie Joséphine" to link directly to the source material.
::I also spilt "Early life" and "Personal life" as the early life sections tends to refer to childhood / early adulthood, and because the dates of her marriages and divorce are not known (and therefore could have happened after early adulthood)
::In terms of the using <nowiki><br></nowiki> for infobox, I did this for ease of review. However, I didn't know about how assistive technology reads plainlist templates and I will use them in my infoboxes the future!
::Please let me know if you have any questions
::Arkistointi Arkistointi (talk) 18:34, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Oh sorry, I didn't mean to come across as if I was offended. To be clear, I wasn't upset at all! I appreciate your notes about the overlinking and the harvid citation style. My edits removed your changes to overlinking, so I will restore those changes (sorry I missed that). As for the harvid citation style, could you help me understand if there's any official wiki documentation about when to use one style vs the other? (I'll try to find it as well.)
:::Also about the direct link to her birth record: looks like I missed that as well. I restored it. Sorry about that! <span style="color:#a1012b;background-color:#fbe2ef;border-radius:4px;padding:0px 3px;font-family:'Comic Relief', 'Comic Sans', sans-serif;">'''Chao Garden 🌱'''</span> (hi) 19:12, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
::::Hi Chao Garden,
::::Thank you for your message, and I'm glad you weren't upset! (sorry for thinking you were!)
::::In terms of when to use or not use shortened footnotes ↗ there aren't any definitive rules per se but only around 5% of wikipedia articles use shortened footnotes – they are typically used when citing different parts of the same source (e.g. the same source being repeated for each page number cited) and therefore help stop full citations from being repeated throughout an article.
::::Best,
::::Arkistointi Arkistointi (talk) 20:47, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::Oh whoa, only 5%. I'll be mindful of that in the future... and I wanted to reiterate that I'm sorry for misreading your edits earlier. I was definitely too hasty there. <span style="color:#a1012b;background-color:#fbe2ef;border-radius:4px;padding:0px 3px;font-family:'Comic Relief', 'Comic Sans', sans-serif;">'''Chao Garden 🌱'''</span> (hi) 03:18, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
