Hi there, Chao Garden, and welcome to Women in Red. I see you have already created a detailed biography of Marie Salmon ↗ and hope there will be many more. In this connection, you might find it useful to look through the guidance in our Ten Simple Rules ↗. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. GA 2nd opinion

Howdy. I really wanted to finish the analysis I promised today but my wife closed out of my wiki browser so I had to redo some of it (yes this sounds like "the dog ate my homework", but it is a real story, I promise!). I am almost caught up; I am off work tomorrow so I will finish it then barring some additional calamity. NicheSports (talk) 05:43, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

:No worries at all, @NicheSports, it happens! (Funny enough, something similar happened to me just the other day.) Maurille de Sombreuil

Hi again, the dating of the birth year was already a mystery back in 1883, and your logical weighting of sources late 1776 was spot on: Bulletin de la Société archéologique et historique du Limousin t. 29-30 (1881-83) ↗<br>

Otherwise, I personally always try to use at least one English-language source on the topic ↗, but it's a matter of personal preference. Please don't feel bothered by my hints. I was impressed by your meticulous work. ⁓☆⁓⁓ PaulasBunt (talk) 21:34, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

:Thank you for your notes, I really appreciate it! I'll take a look at the resources you shared. <span style="color:#a1012b;background-color:#fbe2ef;border-radius:4px;padding:0px 3px;font-family:'Comic Relief', 'Comic Sans', sans-serif;">'''Chao Garden 🌱'''</span> (hi) 21:51, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
::A few more thoughts:
::* Your explanation of why you settled on 1776 after studying the sources is excellent. The link I sent you is just a bit of fun—it presents original research from the French Historical Society from 1883 that supports this birthyear. While linking to it isn't necessary here, it might be interesting for 'detectives' as an external source. (I’ve become quite relaxed about such 'inconsistencies' anyway; anyone who chooses to copy without checking sources is free to do so, but I avoid plagiarism, and it’s a 'reversal of the burden of proof,' so to speak.) Very well done.
::* One more point: for that era, spelling names with hyphens is unusual. Were modern standards applied here? I’m an 'old-timer' from a mixed cultural background and have several first names without hyphens myself. I think that’s worth looking into, even though it doesn't affect the DYK review—it’s just something to consider if you're aiming for a GA nomination, which I hope you are!
::* Lastly, I wouldn't overload the lead section with all the name variants. From a reader's perspective, it can be a bit overwhelming. You could reduce it to the two most common names in the lead and keep the detailed breakdown in the 'Early life' section, as you've already done. Perhaps it's just a personal preference of mine, but the lead is the hook, and reader-friendliness is the 'ultimate discipline'—especially with such wonderfully crafted texts (IMO), which you handle beautifully.
::⁓☆⁓⁓ PaulasBunt (talk) 10:50, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Thanks for your note about the names in the lead section. I updated it to exclude her full name, because it is mentioned in Early Life and the infobox already.
:::As for the hyphenated structure of her full name: I based it on how it's written in the source I cited for her full name and preferred name ("Maurille"): Christophe page 26 ↗. That's also how the editors on French Wikipedia have chosen to write it. So, as you said, the hyphens seem like a modern convention. <span style="color:#a1012b;background-color:#fbe2ef;border-radius:4px;padding:0px 3px;font-family:'Comic Relief', 'Comic Sans', sans-serif;">'''Chao Garden 🌱'''</span> (hi) 15:10, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
::::Hi Chao Garden, I’ve been following your recent edits—your drive to keep refining even after the approval is exactly the right approach. It’s been a pleasure to see someone work so meticulously.
::::I’m signing off for a break now, but I’m glad we had this exchange. You’ve got a great handle on this and everything looks spot on. I still think a GA nomination would be a fantastic next step for this article whenever you feel ready.
::::Best, ⁓☆⁓⁓ PaulasBunt ⁓☆⁓⁓ PaulasBunt (talk) 16:09, 20 April 2026 (UTC)

Raymond Radiguet GAN

Hi, thanks so much for reviewing Raymond Radiguet ↗ for GAN! I think everything you've pointed out has been addressed, I was unsure how to properly respond on the GA1 page, hope this is OK. I've added quotes in citations where you said you needed them, unless I found an online source to confirm, as in the case of the shoelaces quote or the smokes and loves sugar one. Hope everything is in order! Kaspar Hauser (talk) 06:08, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

:Hey @Mafarkafut! Thanks for making those edits. I'll take a look at them tomorrow & let you know if I have any more suggestions. You can reply inline to any part of my review by editing the source of the review page, inserting your comment, and then signing it with 4 tilde ↗ characters: <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> (it's totally okay to do this, as long as you don't delete anything that I wrote. See this page for tips & a how-to video: WP:TALKPAGE ↗)
:Also, here's an explanation of why I was asking for quotes to do a source spot-check, by the way: WP:SPOTCHECK ↗
:It's a way to verify sources randomly as part of GA review. You don't need to add those quotes to the article itself, but you can comment in the review to share a relevant quote for each source being spot-checked.
:I went ahead and edited my review to make it easier for you to add comments to each individual spot-check request. I think there's now a "reply" link next to each pending spot-check line (the list marked with the blue checkmark). Or you can follow the WP:TALKPAGE ↗ tips to edit the page source & add your comments that way. Let me know if you have any questions! — Chao Garden 🌱 ~ say hello 06:26, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi, I would have suggested raising your concerns with the other editor on their talk page, then they might have dealt with them and avoided the need for an ANI thread. Hi! You seem to have at least one article for a Bastille Day set? I'm particularly interested in articles with striking images for the front page. Do you have any articles in mind? I'll nominate two or
three myself. Best, Thriley (talk) 03:46, 22 June 2026 (UTC)

:Hey @Thriley! This is for DYK right? I currently have this approved DYK for Reine Audu: Template:Did_you_know_nominations/Reine_Audu ↗
:As far as I know, Audu wasn't at the Bastille, but she did collaborate with Stanislas-Marie Maillard ↗ (who is known to have been there). Thank you so much for participating in the Bastille Day set! I am considering some articles to nominate that are not biographies. I remembered the draft I had for Poule au pot ↗. Thriley (talk) 16:13, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

:Please feel free to suggest other non-biographic articles that you would like to see on the front page. There are tons and tons to translate from buildings to cheeses as you very well know. Thriley (talk) 16:22, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
::Hey @Thriley! Yes I can help with this one. My schedule is a little random today, but I think I can get it ready for mainspace in the next day or two. — Chao Garden 🌱 ~ say hello 17:47, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
:::I appreciate it. A nod to French cooking is essential for this set! Thriley (talk) 14:29, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
::::Agreed! By the way, I think the article is good to go -- do you mind if I move it to mainspace? — Chao Garden 🌱 ~ say hello 21:31, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::It looks good! Thank you so much. I'll nominate the article or you are welcome to if you like. Please feel free to suggest hooks. Thriley (talk) 04:08, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::Great, I just moved it to mainspace. Did you have a hook in mind for DYK? Maybe something like: {{purple|... that King Henry IV of France said he wanted every farmer to have '''''poule au pot ↗''''', according to a popular myth?}}
::::::Or would it be better to use the translation instead: {{purple|... that King Henry IV of France said he wanted every farmer to have a '''chicken in a pot ↗''', according to a popular myth?}}

::::::(By the way, I don't mind if you nominate it for DYK.) — Chao Garden 🌱 ~ say hello 04:38, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::I offered up a wordy hook. Hope that is ok! Thriley (talk) 18:07, 27 June 2026 (UTC)

CSS overflow clipping

I like how you use the CSS overflow clipping to crop :File:Brumaire, G.14027(3).jpg ↗ on your user page. Makes me wonder why we don't have something similar in mainpsace. Or do we? Viriditas (talk) 00:37, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

:Thank you! Yeah, I don't think there's extended image syntax for this sort of thing (currently). — Chao Garden 🌱 ~ say hello 00:56, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
::Holy cow, that's a great crop! ↗ I see I am dealing with an expert. You are on notice now that I will be consulting with you for image enhancements henceforward. That's a better crop than I could have ever come up with. Viriditas (talk) 01:03, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
:::You are too kind, thank you! I'm happy to help, if you ever need to crop something. — Chao Garden 🌱 ~ say hello 01:42, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
