Evidences of Helston Port

Coming in to edit at this point was probably because you noticed that I deleted my reason for editing as to the boats only being only being able to sail between Lowertown and Loe Pool in Defoe's time. That comment had to be deleted, due to the facts being wrong - the 18 inch mooring ring was actually on the hook that was inserted into the mediaeval wall behind the Victorian cottages and to the left of Castle Hill, and disintigrated from its age around 50 to 60 years ago, but was the most conspicuous evidence of a relic of the port, in contrast to the seven harbour mooring rings seen to the right of the 'Pay Here' sign on the inside of the carpark wall which bounds St. Johns lane in Helston. It is the lack of awareness on the part of geomorphologists of the six to seven metre depth of silt build-up from the double valley mines, over six centuries, that gave them the false evidence to dispute the post 1014 CE existence of Helston port (transferred to Gweek around 1260 AD and from thence to Porthleven in 1825).

Dirty Laundry sound file

Red links

With this edit ↗ you removed a number of red links (and, importantly, a valid blue link) from {{lt|Washington}}. I've gone ahead and reverted those changes. Please see how to handle red links at WP:REDDEAL ↗, or view the entire guideline at WP:REDLINK ↗. State agencies are generally notable, and red links help editors with figuring out where they should devote their time to on Wikipedia. Removing red links makes it difficult for editors to focus on topics that may need attention. —Locke Coletc ↗ 17:47, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

"Publisher" versus "website""

Hi Dawnseeker2000. Thanks for fixing Thelma McKenzie ↗ per MOS:GEOLINK ↗. In the same edit ↗ you changed a few instances of "website" to "publisher". Could you explain why? Template:Cite web ↗ states: "Do not use the publisher parameter for the name of a work (e.g. a ''website'', book, encyclopedia, newspaper, magazine, journal, etc.)" and " Omit where the publisher's name is substantially the same as the name of the work (for example, The New York Times Co. publishes The New York Times newspaper, so there is no reason to name the publisher)". Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 00:20, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hi there,{{pb}}I make a distinction between websites that have a known publisher (like ''The Daily Telegraph'' and Telegraph Media Group). They're usually legacy media (pre Internet). Many new media websites don't have per-existing relationships like that. Some are self published; some just have parent companies; some are just business divisions. I don't italicize those. <span style="font-variant: small-caps">''Dawnseeker2000''</span> 01:56, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
::Okay, but per the documentation at Template:Cite shouldn't the "website" parameter be used for websites like "ESPNcricinfo" or "CricketArchive" instead of "publisher"? In other words: if there is no publisher, "website" is the parameter to use, that is how I read the quotes I cited above. Robby.is.on (talk) 12:51, 30 June 2026 (UTC)

I can't remember the name of the issue, but basically I think we were editing at the same time. Can you check your changes went through properly? I may have accidentally removed them without realising as I've never had this happen before.
