{{unblock reviewed | 1=''I believe I should be unblocked because of my genuine interest in contributing to Wikipedia, which has been misclassified as a false positive "puppet user". If unblocked I would continue contributing to the freeCodeCamp ↗ page, which most of my contributions have come from. Otherwise, my other contributions have been for Pan-Genome and Metagenomics ↗ pages. These two pages are in the broader category of Bioinformatics ↗ and Computational biology ↗, which are more of my expertise. I have not contributed to them as much because I am still new at contributing to Wikipedia. I have been following freeCodeCamp since its inception and I am familiar with the impact it has had on the developer community. That is why I felt the strong urge to contribute for the first time to its Wikipedia page as I believed in its importance and place on Wikipedia. I suspect I was blocked because of the majority of my edits have been made on freeCodeCamp ↗ page, which has been imposed upon me in error. My activity is understandably "suspicious." I'm both frustrated and impressed that I was blocked. However, I have not been contributing to Wikipedia for very long and that page was new enough for me to experiment with making changes. I now have more experience with contributing to pages and have now found the Wikipedia:Community_portal ↗ page. This page shows other open edit opportunities I can contribute to and links to other pages on how to start contributing to Wikipedia. If I have misinterpreted my block overall, please clarify the block and I can update my argument. As I have mentioned, I am still new to contributing. I will try to make some time to go through the Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia ↗ page for more advice on how to edit correctly and effectively. Thank you for taking the time to consider this appeal and volunteering your time to Wikipedia. I hope you'll allow me to help contribute to the Wikipedia community. - Erictleung (talk)'' | accept=Taking a second look over the request and reviewing it in detail, there is a likelihood of this account being a sock, but not enough evidence at this time to hold that theory together completely, so i'm AGF unblocking. -- <span style="color:white;background-color:#8A2DB8"><b>Amanda</b></span> <small>(aka DQ)</small> 03:26, 30 March 2017 (UTC)}}

Welcome

thumb|thumbtime=2:59|right|320px|Welcome to Wikipedia and Wikiproject Medicine ↗
Welcome to Wikipedia! We have compiled some guidance for new healthcare editors:
# Please keep the mission of Wikipedia in mind. We provide the public with accepted knowledge, working in a community.
# We do that by finding high quality secondary sources and ''summarizing'' what they say, giving WP:WEIGHT ↗ as they do. Please do not try to build content by synthesizing ↗ content based on primary sources.
#Please use high-quality, recent, secondary sources for medical content (see WP:MEDRS ↗; for the difference between primary and secondary sources, see the WP:MEDDEF ↗ section.) High-quality sources include review articles ↗ (which are not the same as peer-reviewed ↗), position statements from nationally and internationally recognized bodies (like CDC ↗, WHO ↗, FDA ↗), and major medical textbooks. Lower-quality sources are typically removed. Please beware of predatory publishers ↗ – check the publishers of articles (especially open source articles) at Beall's list ↗.
#The ordering of sections typically follows the instructions at WP:MEDMOS ↗. The section above the table of contents is called the WP:LEAD ↗. It summarizes the body. Do not add anything to the lead that is not in the body. Style is covered in MEDMOS as well; we avoid the word "patient"&nbsp;for example.
# We don't use terms like "currently", "recently," "now", or "today". See WP:RELTIME ↗.
# More generally see WP:MEDHOW ↗, which gives great tips for editing about health -- for example, it provides a way to format citations quickly and easily
#Citation details are '''important''':
#*Be sure cite the PMID ↗ for journal articles and ISBN ↗ for books
#*Please include page numbers when referencing a book or long journal article, and please format citations consistently within an article.
#*Do not use URLs from your university library that have "proxy" in them: the rest of the world cannot see them.
#*Reference tags generally go after punctuation, not before; there is no preceding space.
#We use very few capital letters (see WP:MOSCAPS ↗) and very little bolding. Only the first word of a heading is usually capitalized.
#Common terms are not usually wikilinked; nor are years, dates, or names of countries and major cities. Avoid overlinking ↗!\
#Never copy and paste from sources; we run detection software ↗ on new edits.
#Talk to us! Wikipedia works by collaboration at articles and user talkpages.

Once again, welcome, and thank you for joining us! Please share these guidelines with other new editors.

Your change to Factory Model Schools

Hello! Just saw the change you made to factory model schools and I'm not sure why you made it. Your change doesn't match the content of the article and I don't see anything on the talk page explaining why. Could you say more about the change? EdHistory101 (talk) 01:09, 14 March 2025 (UTC)

:Hello! Which edit are you referring to? Are you referring to the short description change I made? https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Factory_model_school&oldid=1280322676 Erictleung (talk) 01:17, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
::I am! I see now that you added the short description - which is great! I didn't realize it was missing. The content, though, doesn't match the article's content. "term used by those advocating change to the American education system" works better. Can we change it to that? Thanks! EdHistory101 (talk) 10:51, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
:::Ah, I'd agree with your assessment. I may have been too quick to summarize the article in the description. I'm also aiming to adhere to WP:SDLENGTH ↗ to be less than 40 characters. Although "term used by those advocating change to the American education system" is more accurate, short descriptions to be understandings are not intended to be definitions WP:SDNOTDEF ↗ (but if they are, that works).
:::I've updated the short description to hopefully compromise on accuracy and brevity. Erictleung (talk) 03:27, 18 March 2025 (UTC)

Ways to improve Polars (software)

Hello, Erictleung,

Thank you for creating Polars (software) ↗.

I have tagged the page ↗ as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process ↗ and note that:

{{Quote|1=Article may not meet WP requirements for companies/products, namely WP:NCORP ↗. The policy requires multiple INDEPENDENT sources that discuss the product in SOME DEPTH. The sources in this article include (a) the companies own website; (b) two blogs. The only source that may be sufficiently reliable (see WP:RS ↗) is ""An Empirical Study on the Energy Usage ....", which is probably has authors that work for the company or on the product. Can someone demonstrate that that source is INDEPENDENT from the company?}}

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with <code><nowiki>{{Re|</nowiki>Noleander<nowiki>}}</nowiki></code>. Remember to sign your reply with <code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code>. I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hi Erictleung. Thank you for your work on Synthetic minority oversampling technique ↗. Another editor, Zzz plant, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol ↗ and left the following comment:

{{Bq|1=Topic defintiely looks notable- Chawla et al publication has almost 38k citations, and there's plenty of other highly-cited works too. My only feedback is that this may be a difficult article to follow for a person who's not already familiar with SMOTE. I'm not a stats person so take with a grain of salt but I would maybe suggesting moving the block of code down to the bottom and starting out with a longer summary/overview so it can be more easily understood by non-technical folks.}}

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{code|<nowiki>{{Re|</nowiki>Zzz plant<nowiki>}}</nowiki>}}. <small>(Message delivered via the Page Curation ↗ tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)</small><!-- Template:Sentnote-NPF -->

:{{Re|Zzz plant}} thanks for reviewing and giving your feedback, I appreciate it. It's a work in progress, so I'll continue making it more accessible for the general reader who isn't familiar with the topic. I'll tag you and/or others once I've made some progress to make it less technical. Thanks! Erictleung (talk) 18:00, 17 July 2025 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to :Shina Novalinga ↗ when you modified the page, you introduced {{cl|Unknown parameters|unknown parameters}}. Just because you specify {{para|some_param|{{var|some_variable}}}} does not always mean that variable will display. The {{para|some_param}} must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview ↗ button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a '''Show preview''' button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk ↗ for assistance.
