25px|alt=Information icon|link= ↗ Hello. Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia ↗. I noticed that one or more recent edit(s) you made did not have an edit summary ↗. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief ↗.

The edit summary field looks like this:
{{The edit-summary field/OOUI}}

'''Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make.''' With a Wikipedia account ↗ you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting {{myprefs|3|check=Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary}}, and then click the "Save" button.
Thanks!{{sp}}<!-- Template:uw-editsummary --> Daniel Quinlan (talk) 21:12, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

:Seconded. A simple edit summary is helpful to your co-contributors. Thanks for considering these messages. Eric talk 19:49, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

25px|alt=|link= ↗ Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits while logged out. Please be mindful not to perform controversial edits while logged out, or your account risks being blocked from editing ↗. Please consider reading up on Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts ↗ before editing further. Additionally, making edits while logged out reveals your IP address ↗, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. ''Please stop with the logged-out edits. Thank you.'' <!-- Template:Uw-login --> Drmies (talk) 21:46, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

Edit summaries

Per above, please start using edit summaries. Yes, really. Edits like this one ↗ are basically incomprehensible without an explanations. I don't know why you removed sourced content like that, but if you cannot explain in a summary, and it isn't extremely obvious, do not be surprised if you get reverted. Links to draft articles

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Please do not introduce links ↗ in actual articles to draft ↗ articles, as you did to :Brainiac 5 ↗. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style ↗. {{#ifeq:{{lc:}}|yes|An edit has converted these links, into links to the not-currently-existing page (redlinks) where the draft will be placed if it is eventually accepted. Thus the links will automatically become valid links aimed at the correct target when and if the draft is accepted.|These links have been removed.}} Thank you.<!-- Template:Uw-draft-link --> - Arjayay (talk) 19:08, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The New Batman Adventures ↗, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Calendar Girl ↗. July 2024 - Again, Edit Summary

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello Fiction Fanatic III. Again, please provide a '''summary''' of '''every edit you make'''. The summaries ↗ are very helpful to people browsing an article's history. Summaries help other editors by (a) providing a reason for the edit, (b) saving the time to open up the edit to find out what it's all about, and (c) providing information about the edit on diff ↗ pages and lists of changes (such as page histories ↗ and watchlists ↗).

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting {{myprefs|3|check=Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary}}.

As a reminder:
{{The edit-summary field}}

Many who are ignorant of edit summaries fail to add them. Some ignore this basic brief task; however, failure seems arrogant and inconsiderate specially since they are so easy to add. Also, according to Wikipedia's '''consensus policy ↗''', '''all edits should be explained''' ''—either by clear edit summaries, or by discussion on the associated talk page.'' Dates in references

Hi. I just wanted to let you know that you should include the actual release date of certain comic books in the references as you have been adding cover dates that claims it will happen after the actual release date like you have been doing for articles like ''One World Under Doom ↗''. No disrespect, but I'm just giving this advice to you when it comes to your next edits. --Rtkat3 (talk) 02:52, 7 July 2025 (UTC)

Syntax highlighting

Hi, Fiction Fanatic

I couldn't help but notice in some of your recent copyediting work that you've replaced instances of the closing {{code|<br/>}} tag with {{code|<br>}} instead. While this may seem like a minute issue to gripe about, it does raise a technical parsing ↗ issue when syntax highlighting ↗ is concerned. Many editors may use a wiki-code syntax highlighter to make source editing easier and more structured. The most prominent example of such a tool is mw:User:Remember the dot/Syntax highlighter ↗, which is available to all Wikipedia users at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadget ↗.

As noted in that syntax highlighter's "Known issues" ↗ section explains the parsing issue as follows: {{tq|For performance reasons, the highlighter requires all tags to be valid XML. For example, make sure that if you start a {{code|<p>}} tag you end it with {{code|</p>}}, and use {{code|<br/>}} instead of {{code|<br>}}.}}

When this formatting practice isn't followed, the syntax highlighter can misinterpret the rest of the page's wikitext, causing the highlighting to "bleed" across subsequent content. This makes templates, media files, and other syntax harder to visually parse in source mode, potentially increasing editing difficulty or introducing errors.

Just thought I'd pass this information along in case you weren't aware. Cheers, and happy editing! Red Shogun412 (talk) 22:54, 7 July 2025 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi Fiction Fanatic III! I noticed that you recently made an edit&#32;at :Aircraft in fiction ↗ and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit ↗" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixing typo ↗s or reverting obvious vandalism ↗. In addition, clicking on the "What links here ↗" link (in the tools listed at the left in desktop view ↗) on a missing article shows how many—and which—articles depend on that article being created. This can help prioritize article creation. Please only remove a redlink if you are pretty sure that it is to a non-notable topic ↗ and not likely ever to be created. While true - IMDB is not a reliable source and not to be used as one - if you are going to mass remove the citations, it would be appropriate to also replace them with <nowiki>{{citation needed}}</nowiki> tags. That way other editors are both alerted to the missing attribution, and as well the 'clock can start ticking' to removal of the unsourced material if nobody steps forward with sources within some reasonable window of time (typically a few months, but it varies). When you have a moment, please go through all your previous removals and add the cite needed tags. cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 01:09, 28 October 2025 (UTC)

:I see that you are continuing to remove the IMDB citations en masse, without replacing them with 'cite needed' tags. Please stop. Your efforts, absent the tags, generate more work for other editors to clean up - assuming you don't do the right thing and do it yourself. Please reply. cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 17:26, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
::Correction - I see that in some cases you are adding the cite needed, however, all your previous edits still lack the tags. Please take care of that task before moving on to more removals. cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 17:28, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
:::...and I see that you are now doing so - thank you very much. cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 17:32, 28 October 2025 (UTC)

:No problem. Fiction Fanatic III (talk) 17:34, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
::You are doing it again, like you recently did on Dr. Phil’s page. Please, add the appropriate tags and/or ensure the sources are not allowed. IMDb is allowed for certain things, as stated on the RS page CreativeNightPainter (talk) 19:17, 1 December 2025 (UTC)

Duplicate links

My understanding (from long ago) for Wikilinks is that the Introduction (typically one to three paragraphs) does not count when looking for duplicate links. Wikipedia has a Tool called "Highlight Duplicate Links", and it ignores the Introduction section. The MOS ↗ says "Link a term at most once ''per major section'', at first occurrence. Do not re-link in other sections if not contextually important there. Other mentions may be linked if helpful, such as in infoboxes, tables, image captions, footnotes, and hatnotes." Your call, but I wonder if you should not have removed the Abraham Lincoln link in the American Civil War ↗ page. TwoScars (talk) 21:31, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
:My apologies for the confusion. The Intro section does not count for Wikilinks in the main body of the text. However, you should not have two Wikilinks for the same thing in any section. Thus, a second Wikilink for Lincoln in the Intro section should be removed. One Wikilink in the Intro section, and one Wikilink in the main section, is OK. TwoScars (talk) 15:42, 25 April 2026 (UTC)

Categories on redirects

Categories are allowed on redirects, following WP:LISTRCAT ↗, although, following that, there is an argument that they should be tightened up a bit "fictional X" categories should probably be removed. Emperor (talk) 22:06, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

:Thanks for making the changes, I think it might be worth drilling down into it as probably not all the categories should be restored.
:So, for example, with this edit ↗, everything within comics is probably fine but "Fictional Danish people" and "Fictional characters with earth or stone abilities" might be too broad.
:As per WP:LISTRCAT ↗ and the guidleline "Redirects to sections of minor character lists should generally only be categorized within that fictional setting, and not in the wider fictional categories." The example they use is "Category:Fictional characters by occupation".
:Hope that helps. Emperor (talk) 22:57, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

Be careful with apostrophes by bold or italic markup

In {{Diff|The Fastest Clock in the Universe: Difference between revisions|1353875461|prev|your edit of 22:32, 12 May 2026 (UTC)}} of ''The Fastest Clock in the Universe ↗'', you changed <code><nowiki>''The Times ↗''’s</nowiki></code> to <code><nowiki>''The Times ↗'''s</nowiki></code>, which created unclosed italic (<code><nowiki>''</nowiki></code>) and bold (<code><nowiki>'''</nowiki></code>) markup. I fixed it to <code><nowiki>''The Times ↗''{{'s}}</nowiki></code>. The template {{tlx|'s}} inserts a tiny white space to keep the apostrophe away from the right-leaning italics. To put an apostrophe without s after italics, use {{tlx|'}}, which also inserts a tiny white space. To put an apostrophe before or after bold markup, or ''inside'' italic markup, use {{tlx|`}}, for example <code><nowiki>{{`}}'''apostrophes around bold text'''{{`}}</nowiki></code> displays as {{`}}'''apostrophes around bold text'''{{`}}. Cheers! —Anomalocaris (talk) 23:52, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

A few of us are currently working to revitalize the Marvel Comics work group, and since you're already active in this space, I wanted to see if you'd be interested in joining us. If you're interested, you can check out the updated workspace and sign up here: WP:MARVEL ↗

Refs in lead

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello Fiction Fanatic III. I noticed that you placed a citation in the lead of Al Weaver ↗ in your edit here ↗. Although sometimes it is unavoidable such as in a date of birth that is not in the article body, generally citations don't belong in the lead per Wikipedia:Lead Section ↗: "The lead section should not have citations in them, because the information should be in the rest of the article somewhere, and citations in the lead section makes the lead section harder to read." Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section ↗: "A lead section should be carefully sourced as appropriate, although it is common for citations to appear only in the body and not the lead." And Wikipedia:How to create and manage a good lead section ↗: "Try to keep the number of references to a minimum, if used at all." Kind regards, Quaerens-veritatem (talk) 13:33, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
