Mess
This diff ↗ is kind of a mess. Do you remember what happened? WhatamIdoing (talk) 23:50, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hi there,
:Could you elaborate on your concerns? The most egregious things I can see is (1) that I removed the Google Books citation as part of the reformatting with the new infobox, and (2) the removal of the "target audience" section (that was both out of concern for WP:OR ↗, and because it felt like an AI-generated summary). ForsythiaJo (talk) 16:07, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
::Sorry, I've explained very badly. The categories ought to be ''automatically'' grouped together (unless you wanted that on purpose), and the <code><nowiki><references /></nowiki><nowiki>{{med-book-stub}}</nowiki></code> bit should have separated itself (assuming the visual editor touched that line, which it might not have). I'm not asking "What did you do wrong?!" but "How did the software fail you?" I know how to file bug reports if you've run into problems. WhatamIdoing (talk) 17:26, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Ah, I see what you're saying. I don't recall having any issues while editing that particular article. I generally use the visual editor, although lately Safari has been glitching when editing categories using the visual editor or HotCat, so I may have made a manual mistake while adding categories using the source editor. I don't recall touching the ''<nowiki><references />{{med-book-stub}}</nowiki>'' bit either way. ForsythiaJo (talk) 17:31, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
::::Thanks. I've had this problem: Make an edit in the visual editor. Now I want to add cats with HotCat ...but HotCat is missing. It's solved by reloading the page.
::::If it ever develops a consistent/predictable problem, please feel free to leave a note on my talk page. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:43, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

Tyrrell Tapaha ↗
Hello, I've noticed that twice now you have added categories mis-gendering Tyrrell Tapaha, a Navajo weaver. Tapaha is not a woman, they are referred to time and again in sources as he/him or they/them. I realize that many people may associate weaving and textile work with women, so it seems these were good faith errors on your part. Netherzone (talk) 00:10, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
:Ah my deepest apologies! I've been moving a number of textile artists this afternoon to century/nationality categories, the vast majority of whom are women, so absolutely an accident. Thank you for reaching out so kindly. ForsythiaJo (talk) 01:05, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
::No worries whatsoever. Nice to meet you here, and thanks for all your good work! Netherzone (talk) 01:14, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

Incorporate the pending changes in Alaa al-Qatrawi's wikipedia arabic page
Hello ForsythiaJo,
Thank you for your work on the Wikidata item for Alaa al-Qatrawi.
I would like to ask for your help regarding the Arabic Wikipedia page:
https://ar.wikipedia.org/wiki/آلاء_القطراوي
At the moment, the Arabic article appears to be pending / not fully visible as an accepted public version. Since this is the main Arabic article about the subject, I would be very grateful if you could help review it, integrate the current version properly, or guide me on the best way to make it stable and officially readable for everyone.
My goal is simply to have the Arabic page properly connected, accepted, and accessible to all readers, in the same way as the English and French pages.
Thank you very much for your time and help.
Best regards,

Using the name of aggressor on page title
Hello
It seems to a convention to name the party that attacks a civilian facility, especially a university, directly in the page title.
Please see Iranian strikes on the Weizmann Institute of Science ↗ as an example and let me know if your renaming on US Israeli strikes on Iran University of Science and Technology ↗ may be deemed improper against that convention? --Sattar (talk) 21:40, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
: Hi there! I moved the article after looking at :Category:Airstrikes conducted by the United States ↗, in which the majority are named some variant of "(year) (location) strike/s”. But, as is clear from both that category and others, there doesn’t seem to be one specific convention for how we title articles on airstrikes (if we do have one, please let me know!). As for this article specifically, I have no problem including the belligerent country; I moved the article because the original title felt clunky. Alternatively, I’d have no issue moving Iranian strikes on the Weizmann Institute of Science ↗ to something like “2025 Weizmann Institute of Science airstrikes”. :) ForsythiaJo (talk) 00:56, 1 May 2026 (UTC)

Dear @ForsythiaJo,
I respectfully ask you to review the extensive removal of content from the article about Alaa al-Qatrawi by another user. This was content that you had personally reviewed and integrated into the article on 19 April 2026.
Several fully sourced and important sections were removed all at once. The same user did not limit these removals to the English version only, but also made similar changes to the French and arabic versions.
In addition, after this user filed a complaint against me, an administrator on French Wikipedia blocked my account because I had created another account out of ignorance of the rules. They did not take into consideration that I am still new to Wikipedia and that I do not yet fully understand all of its policies and procedures.

Stage works v.s. literature and categorization
Just a note to be careful with live performance works when removing cats. Plays, musicals, operas, some ballets, etc. contain a literary component, but they are ''more'' than literature. They are also performative and visual works which are translated through stage movement, choreography, costumes, sets, and/or music. They may also contain ''improvisation'' in dialogue, movement, or music. In other words, they often do have a script or libretto, but that is only one part of a larger work. They are all literature (although sometimes not in the cases of improvisatory works that have no script), and they are more than literature. As such, they do belong in more than just the literary cats, because to classify them as only literature is to misclassify. They belong in the literary cats, but they also belong outside them. For example, a costume, set, and lighting designer in a play or a composer in a musical or opera might have something to say ''about race'' that is completely not literary but which is communicative to an audience viewing a play. Hence why :Category:Plays about race and ethnicity ↗ belongs in both :Category:Works about race and ethnicity ↗ and :Category:Literature about race and ethnicity ↗. Plays will merge visual arts, music, dance/movement, and literature into a single work. They can't only exist in a literature tree, but they shouldn't be excluded from the literature tree. Thank you for "rescuing" all of those empty categories that were part of :Category:LGBTQ history by year ↗. I don't know how you tracked down their old contents once they had been emptied.
Of course, empty categories can always be recreated if they are just deleted for being empty and no other reason but we still need editors who will spend the time tracking down what articles are appropriate to assign to them and that is a task that takes time and effort. Language assistance needed
Hi! I noticed you've written a lot of articles about peace activists so I thought you might be interested in contributing to the articles about Quakers that I've been writing, such as Khalil Totah ↗ and Jean Zaru ↗. While the articles have plenty of sources for establishing notability, I had to use exclusively English sources since I don't even know the Hebrew or Arabic alphabets and google translate for Hewbrew and Arabic is very poor quality. If you can supplement the articles with sources in additional languages, please add some - I really like to avoid presenting any exclusively English view of a subject matter. In addition, the lack of non-English sources gives the false impression that the subject is not well known outside of English press. I could not even confirm the Arabic spelling of Jean Zaru's name, so if you can find that to add it would help a lot.--CitationAuditor (talk) 12:57, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hi there,
:I have a fairly elementary level of Arabic, so I might be able to assist, but oftentimes I rely on Google translate as well when finding sources. But I'll see what I can do! ForsythiaJo (talk) 14:45, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
::Do you think that جين زارو might be the correct rendering of her name in Arabic? It is spelled that way in al-Thaqāfah ↗, but translated back to English it translates to Gene Zaro or Gina Zaro depending on the online translator I'm using.--CitationAuditor (talk) 16:35, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
:::That spelling was my initial guess, and if it's present in an Arabic-language source (I assume this ↗ is the snippet?) I'd say go with it, especially since it says the woman is a Palestinian Christian educator, which matches Zaru's description.
:::Breaking the name down, "جين" can be directly transliterated "j-ii-n" (phonetically the same as Jean or Gene), but Arabic doesn't write short vowels in standard texts, so it may also be used as a spelling of "Gina" or "Jane". The surname, "زارو", is "z-aa-r-uu", with two long vowels. Arabic only has three vowels, (a, i, u), so the "و" can also be transliterated as "o" depending on the dialect. So that would explain why you were getting some different transliterations. :) ForsythiaJo (talk) 17:26, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
::::Thank you for the explanation and adding it to the article. Cheers! An article for another Palestinian Quaker Emily Shihadeh ↗ will be coming soon (probably after my article for Ukrainian Quaker Yurii Sheliazhenko ↗), please do feel free to add to it or critique it once it's published.--CitationAuditor (talk) 17:35, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::I'll keep an eye out for those two! I also wanted to let you know, if you weren't already aware, of WikiProject Women in Red ↗, which aims to expand coverage of women on Wikipedia. They've also got a number of lists of women who could use articles ↗, including one on peace activists ↗ and one on Palestinian women ↗, both of which I thought may be of interest to you. :)
:::::Happy editing! ForsythiaJo (talk) 17:54, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::Thank you! Let me know if you ever need help finding sources for some of your articles. I don't think I do much more writing about Palestinians after the Emily Shihadeh ↗ article since it's such a tough topic to write about and I don't even know the Arabic alphabet, but I'll certainly be writing about more peace activists and human rights activists who focused on non-violence to achieve their goals around the world.--CitationAuditor (talk) 18:11, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::By the way, do you can put together a Bibliography for Khalil Totah ↗ for a further reading section? The English sources I found say that he did a lot of writing, but my lack of knowledge of Arabic makes it difficult to put together a list of his works and format it. I know he's not a woman but his article definitely needs some Arabic sources since he was so influential in Ramallah. And after all, he did advocate for education of girls and women at a time when very few women were well-educated.--CitationAuditor (talk) 20:37, 28 June 2026 (UTC)

Research question
I was doing a little formatting fix on Taysir Abu Saada ↗ and noticed the infobox said that he died on April 1 2026. However, this is not supported by any source and was added without any reference. I've looked for an obituary for him but could not find one. Can you do some Arabic research in case there is something I missed? I udnerstand BLP rules are pretty strict so if this is a death hoax it should be reverted.--CitationAuditor (talk) 20:00, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
:I'm seeing a Facebook announcement from Abu Saada's daughter(?) (Link ↗), but I'll see if I can find something more official. ForsythiaJo (talk) 21:42, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
::Thank you for your effort, I would have never found that. Do you think you can help find anything on Boulos el-ʿAraj/Paul Arage? He's a Palestinian Quaker archeologist who was the subject of a very long article in Bulletin of the American Society of Overseas Research ↗ (but it is paywalled) but I can't find much else about him, aside from a 1985 obituary on newspapers.com. If you can find any good Arabic sources about him it would be very nice.--CitationAuditor (talk) 00:13, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
