Do you have any ''sources'' for all these date changes and other "clarifications" you're making? -Jason A. Quest (talk) 21:15, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

Most come from the individual Wikipedia entries on the Gauleiters themselves, or other websites involving the organization and history of the Gaue, such as http://territorial.de/reich/nsdap/gaue.htm Historybuff0105 (talk) 14:46, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
:You must make sure you are using WP:RS ↗ sources, many, if not most websites do not meet that standard. Kierzek (talk) 20:55, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 3

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Albert Hoffmann (Nazi) ↗, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Oldenburg ↗<!-- ([//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dablinks.py/Albert_Hoffmann_%28Nazi%29 check to confirm]&nbsp;|&nbsp;[//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dab_solver.py/Albert_Hoffmann_%28Nazi%29?client=notify fix with Dab solver])-->. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. <small>(Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)</small>

Council of Ministers for Defense of the Reich ↗

Hi. I wanted to quickly explain some edits I made in connection to the articles about the members of the Council (Göring, et al.). Your description of the Council as a "war cabinet" is fair enough (I don't know if that was yours or Broszat's), but I thought that this was somewhat misleading: "issuing critical decrees without the normal governmental process".

In point of fact, after the Enabling Act of 1933 ↗, there was no "normal governmental process" ''per se'', laws were made simply by Hitler signing a decree. Since "normal governmental process" rather implies more than that, i.e. a request from the executive, legislative debate and so on, I thought it best to remove that phrase.

Not that it's pertinent to your edits to the various articles, but to my memory the Council was completely ineffective -- in fact, I'm not sure that they issued any decrees at all, but I'm trying to run that down in my various sources. Best, Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:41, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages

Thank you for your recent articles, including Kurt Hintze ↗, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment ↗ templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like <nowiki>{{WikiProject Keyword}}</nowiki> to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You can also use a friendly script for that. You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts ↗ and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts ↗, Popular Pages ↗, Quality and Importance Matrix ↗ and the Cleanup Listing ↗. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus&#124;<span style="color:#7CFC00;background:#006400;"> reply here</span> 09:18, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

:Thank you for your interest in my recent articles and for the suggestion to add WikiProject assessment templates. I will certainly try to add them to future articles. Not being a rater, I did not think that it was within my purview, and I find that they are added relatively quickly (sometimes literally in minutes) by reviewers. Now that I know what to do, I will try to remember to add them, though I will leave the actual ratings to others more experienced in these matters. Thanks once again for your suggestion.Historybuff0105 (talk) 15:44, 27 June 2022 (UTC)

Gebiete of Generalbezirk Weißruthenien ↗

I appreciate that, according to ''The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Encyclopedia of Camps and Ghettos'', the Generalbezirk consisted of eleven Gebiete when created.

Yet, ''Verwaltungsgliederung des Deutschen Reiches und der angegliederten und besetzten Gebiete, nach dem Stand vom Sommer 1942'' by :de:Heinz Boberach ↗ is unequivocal in listing just nine Gebietskommissariate under civil administration, and mentioning that ten more (for a total of 19) were under military administration.

At the same time, ''Der Verwaltungsaufbau des Reichskommissariats Ostland und seine Voraussetzungen'' in :de:Nation und Staat ↗ issue for May 1942 states that Generalbezirk Weißruthenien consisted of 39 Kreisgebiete, further organised into five Hauptgebiete: Minsk, Witebsk, Mohilew, Baranowitschi and Smolensk.

How can we reconcile all these sources into something coherent?

Note that :File:Reichskommissariat Ostland Administrative.png ↗ and its derivative :File:Gen Okrug Belarus Administrative.png ↗ are based upon unknown sources, so they shouldn't themselves be used as references. --Crash48 (talk) 20:11, 12 November 2022 (UTC)

:Hello Crash48. Thank you for the informative note. It does appear that various sources provide differing accounts of the numbers and names of the gebiete of Generalbezirk Weissruthenien. Also, I believe the ''Verwaltungsgliederung des Deutschen Reiches'' states that an additional 10 gebiete were "planned," but remained under military administration. It is unclear whether they ever came into existence. At any event, Nazi Germany was notorious for often changing, reconfiguring and renaming administrative and geographical entities (NSDAP Gaue and SS commands ↗ are but two examples). Could it be that the differing sources are relying on different "snapshots in time" to arrive at their conclusions? I think that a plausible case can be made that it is. In which case, can we reconcile the conundrum by incorporating language that states this, perhaps listing the two variants of 9 and 11 (with their associated sources) and noting that they likely may have changed over time? Does that strike you as a reasonable approach? If so, would you like to take a first stab at drafting it? Thank you again for reaching out to attempt to resolve the seeming inconsistency.Historybuff0105 (talk) 23:03, 12 November 2022 (UTC)

::Trying to find a well-sourced map, I came across https://dmr.bsu.edu/digital/collection/ostlndAtls/id/122/rec/8 ↗ (from an atlas published in March 1942, but the map itself is undated) showing 20 ''Sitze des Gebietskommissars'', out of them four (Bobruisk, Minsk, Mogilew, Witebsk) marked as ''Sitze von zwei Gebietskommissaren'', for a total of 24 Gebietskommissaren in GkWR. How about the following wording? {{tq|''Generalbezirk Weissruthenien'' was subdivided into ''Gebiete''; according to different sources, it comprised from as few as 9 to as many as 39 such subdivisions.}} --Crash48 (talk) 12:01, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
:::I am convinced by the cited map, an authoritative document of the ''Reichskommissariat Ostland'', that 24 gebiete were formally authorized and covered the area of pre-war Byelorussia. I still like the idea of naming the administrative units but 24 is quite a large number, so what if we change the focus to the ''Hauptgebiete''? Something like:
:::"''Generalbezirk Weissruthenien'' was subdivided into ''Gebiete'' (areas). According to different sources, it expanded from as few as 9 to as many as 24 such subdivisions as territory transitioned from military to civilian administration. These were subordinated to four ''Hauptgebiete'' (main areas) headquartered in Baranowitschi ↗, Minsk ↗, Mogilew ↗ and Witebsk ↗."<ref>Ostland Atlas Map 07: Administrative Divisions ↗ in the Ball State University Digital Media Repository ↗ Retrieved 13 November 2022</ref>
:::Citing the map as an in-line source allows the reader to view the gebiete without having to list them all. Also, the current map in the article could be removed. Does that sound like a reasonable approach? Please feel free to propose any alternate wording. Thank you for the excellent research work in locating this series of maps. Very impressive. Historybuff0105 (talk) 19:22, 13 November 2022 (UTC)

::::My point was that the number 39 is no less authoritative, here ↗ (Jan 1942) quoted by Hinrich Lohse ↗ the Reichskommissar for Ostland himself. On the map above, Smolensk is indeed marked as a Hauptgebiet, though (contrary to Lohse's statement) not part of Ostland. How about the following? {{tq|''Generalbezirk Weissruthenien'' was subdivided into ''Gebiete'' (areas). According to different sources, it had from as few as 9 to as many as 39 such subdivisions, as territory transitioned from military to civilian administration. These were subordinated to four or five ''Hauptgebiete'' (main areas) headquartered in Baranowitschi, Minsk, Mogilew, Witebsk, and possibly Smolensk.}} --Crash48 (talk) 09:25, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
:::::I think we are getting pretty close. Lohse does mention that the eastern areas are still under military administration in the army rear area and I still am left with the belief that the 39 gebiete were planned but not actually effectuated. As I am sure you know, the Nazis also had detailed plans to create Reichskommissariats for Moscow and the Caucasus that never came to fruition. How about the following minor tweak:
:::::{{tq|"Generalbezirk Weissruthenien was subdivided into Gebiete (areas). According to different sources, it had from as few as 9 to as many as 39 such planned subdivisions, as territory transitioned from military to civilian administration. These would be subordinated to four or five Hauptgebiete (main areas) headquartered in Baranowitschi, Minsk, Mogilew, Witebsk, and possibly Smolensk."}}
:::::I assume you will cite the excellent material you have obtained as in-line references to support the edit. Thank you for your work on this.Historybuff0105 (talk) 16:48, 14 November 2022 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi Historybuff0105! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor&#32;at :Wilhelm Furtwängler ↗ that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections ↗ or reverting obvious vandalism ↗. Any edit that changes the ''meaning'' of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit ↗ for more information. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-minor --> CurryTime7-24 (talk) 17:10, 3 May 2023 (UTC)

:Hello CurryTime7-24. I did not believe my recent edit was controversial or introduced a substantive change to the information that was already contained in the article. It was certainly not my intent to do so. However, I have reviewed the Help info you referred me to, and in future will certainly try harder to adhere to its guidance. Thank you for your review and feedback.Historybuff0105 (talk) 17:40, 3 May 2023 (UTC)

Government of Nazi Germany ↗

Hello: this is an article both you and I have worked on. As you know, an ip editor has been in a slow motion edit war for a while now. I would ask that you consider helping me keep up the integrity of this article. Cheers, Kierzek (talk) 15:32, 7 June 2023 (UTC)

:Kierzek, I'll be glad to do what I can to help. Usually, you have already reverted the edits when I get around to seeing them, though I have caught one or two. I believe this has been going on in one manner or another since February (the ip address changes but the edit content persists, unchanged). Is there no longer-term solution that can be applied to this annoyance? Though it seems most attempts at rationale explanation/documentation are futile when engaging with these irrational guerrilla-types. Historybuff0105 (talk) 18:19, 7 June 2023 (UTC)

Emil Maurice ↗

An editor made some recent changes to this article; where he inserted the changes include a sentence cited prior to a book by Miller, which I don’t have. I thought you might have the book and could check. Thanks, Kierzek (talk) 15:24, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

:User:Kierzek Yes, I have the Miller book and compared it (p. 24) with the edits made. I see one one major difference: Miller does not state that Maurice "appealed successfully and was freed". Also, the source says the de-Nazification sentence was to 4 years in a "labor camp", not a "prison", therefore, the prior version was more accurate. It also does not specifically say that "he spent the rest of his life living in Starnberg" but only that he died there. The other added details are documented by Miller: he was captured by American forces in Starnberg on 25 May and was classified as a Group II offender. Hope this is helpful to you. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask. Always glad to help out if I am able.Historybuff0105 (talk) 18:34, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

Leaders of the SS & German Police Vols 1 & 2 by Michael Miller

BTW - you may have these two volumes, I don’t know, but I just happen to see them listed on eBay together for a good price. Very worthwhile RS books to have and use on Wikipedia. Kierzek (talk) 15:25, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

:Yes, thank you, I have them both and agree that they are invaluable. The volume that I am missing, and would love to acquire, is Miller's ''Leaders of the Storm Troops. Volume 2''. It is listed as out of print on Amazon and a note by Miller indicates that it is to be reissued by another publisher, but that is dated 2018, so I am not hopeful. If you ever see a copy, let me know. And thanks for your excellent and vigilant work in maintaining the integrity of the articles you review. Hans Krebs

Hans Krebs, the SS general; wasn’t he only an honorary Gauleiter? Kierzek (talk) 02:04, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

:Yes. This is clear in my added text. Also, I listed him as ''Gauleiter'' (Honorary) in the infobox but this was changed by another editor; I have no objection to restoring it. Also, do you think the two recently added photos of the same event (23 September 1938) is overkill? I would be OK with seeing the first one with Krebs in profile (and partially out of frame) on the extreme right removed. Other subjects in the remaining photo should be identified, as they are known. What do you think?Historybuff0105 (talk) 15:35, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
::That is what I thought, I wanted confirmation. If the info box needs correction, go ahead and do it. Yes, I don’t think there needs to be two photos from the same event. That’s unnecessary redundancy. You can go ahead and proceed on that if you wish. I am out of town until Tuesday and I hate doing any real editing on my cell phone, it’s a pain in the neck. Kierzek (talk) 18:15, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
:One additional thought. The main photo shows him in his SS general's uniform, not a ''Gauleiter's''. So maybe restoring the original article title is better?Historybuff0105 (talk) 15:41, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing ↗ does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary ↗ at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking ↗ to the copied page, e.g., <code>copied content from <nowiki>page name ↗</nowiki>; see that page's history for attribution</code>. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{tl|copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia ↗. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-copying --> — Diannaa (talk) 14:57, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

:Diannaa, Thank you for your note. I seldom copy information from other Wiki articles and so am not that familiar with the intricacies of what needs to be done to fully comply with attribution requirements in such instances. I did include two of the original citations (Tetens & Daily Telegraph) and provided a new citation (Zentner & Bedürftig) that I believe covered much of the same introductory material. Also, the reference to the original article in the "see also" note just below the heading, I thought, fully gave credit to the original. I assure you there was no attempt at plagiarism. I see now that I need to be even more careful. I have gone back and added to my edit two additional citations from the original article (Taylor & Goda). Together with your edit summary, this should provide appropriate credit to the original sources. I will endeavor to be more diligent in the future. As always, thank you for your valuable input and editing expertise. Historybuff0105 (talk) 17:27, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi thanks for creating this article. When we translate or borrow from other language wikis it’s a requirement to acknowledge the source. The best way to do this is to include it in your edit summary (e.g. “translated from de.wiki”) and there’s also a translation template you can add to the talk page. If you can confirm where material for this article was sourced I’ll add the template to the talk page for you if it is needed. Happy editing and please leave a message on my talk page if you need any help Mccapra (talk) 22:58, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

The removal of myself and my Father as descendants of Paul Ludwig Ewald Von Kleist

Hi Historybuff0105,

I'm curious as to why my edit was removed? I am Luke Edgar Von-Kleist. He was my Great Grandfather. Forgive me if context is incorrect, English isn't my preference.

Regards,
Luke LEVONKLEIST (talk) 13:39, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

:User:LEVONKLEIST, Wikipedia does not routinely list all known living descendants of the subject beyond their immediate children, unless the descendants are themselves notable in their own right. I am not doubting the legitimacy of your ancestry but, even assuming notability, to establish verifiability (see:Wikipedia:Verifiability ↗), such changes would require documentation via a reliable published source (see: Wikipedia:RS ↗) to support their inclusion. That is why I did '''not''' revert your changes noting the field marshal's two sons, which '''were''' documented in your added citation to Special Camp 11 under "next of kin". I hope this explains the edit more fully, and thank you for seeking clarification. Respectfully, Historybuff0105 (talk) 16:56, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

''Sturmabteilung ↗''

At this point it seems that you may have more RS books on this subject than me, as to this original Nazi Party organisation. :Hello @User:Scope creep Looking at WP:POLITICIAN ↗, '''presumed notability''' is accorded to politicians who were legislative members at the national or state/provincial levels (in federal systems). Helfer held both. He is also covered in reliable secondary sources that are cited in the article, including a biographical dictionary of the Third Reich. He was also a participant in several of the key historical events of those years during the Nazis rise to power, including the Beer Hall Putsch and the Brunswick Rally. He also received (what were for the Nazis) significant awards or honors. WP:ANYBIO ↗ I would also argue that he rose to the highest ranks of the SA as a ''Obergruppenführer'', serving in the Supreme SA Leadership and leading the SA command in Munich, the HQ of the Party, for 7 years. In addition, he served in the regional and national leadership of a veteran's organization. Though certainly not in the top echelon of Nazi leaders, I believe he fulfills the criteria for notability. Thanks for the opportunity to discuss. Historybuff0105 (talk) 22:14, 27 August 2024 (UTC)

Viktor Lutze ↗

Can you check as to what information your RS books state as to the details, if any, of the automobile accident he was involved in, after which he died. Two RS books I have, that I checked, only state that he died from injuries of an auto accident. Thanks, Kierzek (talk) 18:00, 20 January 2025 (UTC)

:{{Re|Kierzek}} I checked several sources in response to your question. Lepage: "Hitler's Stormtroopers" (2016), p. 261, states: "killed in a car crash while on a food-foraging expedition outside Berlin. Other sources assert that he was murdered in a partisan ambush." Bullock: "Hitler: A Study in Tyranny" (1962), p.676, states: "killed in a motor accident while on his way back from a blackmarketing expedition". Several other sources, Klee, Stockhorst, Wistrich, Zentner & Bedürftig, all only make reference to an auto accident without any specific details. Surprisingly, Siemens: "Stormtroopers" (2017) makes no mention of it at all. The most detailed account I found was in Miller & Schulz: "Leaders of the Storm Troops, Vol. 1" (2015), p. 190. It has a rather lengthy description and largely supports the version described in the Lutze article, to wit, his son Viktor Jr. was reportedly driving and was involved in an accident. His sister Inge died and Lutze Sr. was injured and died in surgery the following day. The accident occurred at 1430 hours on 1 May near Michendorf while driving on the Reichsautobahn from Bevergern to Berlin. Details differ; they say that the son either "fell asleep at the wheel" (no citation) or he swerved to avoid pedestrians in the road, lost control, skidded and rolled over for more than 50 meters. (cited in Holcomb: "The SA: A Historical Perspective" (1985) no page noted.) They also cite Fredborg: "Behind the Steel Wall" (1944) p. 232, saying that the car swerved to avoid a pedestrian, skidded, turned over and was traveling at 70 mph. Carradice: "Night of the Long Knives" (2018) p. 118, is at odds with the above sources, stating that Lutze was "a victim of his own reckless driving". I hope this provides you with the information you are seeking. Please let me know whether I can be of additional assistance. Historybuff0105 (talk) 20:47, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
::Thanks for looking into it. If you don’t mind, since you have RS sources with the additional information, will you make a copy edit to his bio page in that section adding the info with cited pages in support. Thank you, Kierzek (talk) 21:02, 20 January 2025 (UTC)

People's State of Hesse

Thank you thank you for catching my blunder on Ernst Ludwig's ouster. I confused him with William II of Württemberg when I wrote the lede.

I found three sources that pegged the date to 12 November, although none was really clear on exactly what he did that day. Probably a case of finally accepting the reality of the situation. GHStPaulMN (talk) 03:08, 6 January 2026 (UTC)

:User:GHStPaulMN: Please don't feel bad. One inadvertent glitch in your massive and masterful reworking of an article long in need of updating is entirely understandable. Thanks for the additional work in trying to pinpoint an accurate date. It's not surprising that some fine details slipped through the historical cracks and are foggy at best, given the enormous upheaval during the chaotic collapse of the multiple royal houses in November 1918.
:I note that many Wiki articles give discrepant information regarding the date. If you have the time, you may want to consider turning your considerable expertise in this area to updating the article on Grand Duke Ernest Louis ↗, which is minimal at best on the matter, saying only: "he lost his throne during the revolution of 1918, after refusing to abdicate". The article List of German monarchs in 1918 ↗ also lists him in the "abdication" table with a date of 9 November. The article Grand Duchy of Hesse ↗ says he "was removed from power on 9 November 1918" while acknowledging that he never abdicated. (Note 4 states that the rulers of Bavaria and Waldeck/Pyrmont likewise never formally abdicated, in contrast to the info in the above list article.) I'm sure you can identify other articles that are at variance with the information now documented in this article. At any rate, thanks again for all your exertions in adding to the knowledge base of the many Weimar ''Länder'', including your recent rewrite of the Free People's State of Württemberg ↗. Historybuff0105 (talk) 22:33, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
::Hi - Looking back over some key sources, I found in Mink's 'Kleine Geschichte der Stadt Darmstadt' [''A Short History of the City of Darmstadt''] (reference 5) that the workers' council declared Ernst deposed on 9 November. Since that was a major event, I put your edit back in (with the word 'declared' added). That should get the various wiki articles back in better synch. I'll change a few words in the article on Ernst himself in the next few days. Thanks for your input. GHStPaulMN (talk) 02:51, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
:::User:GHStPaulMN:Thanks for your continued effort to refine the content in this article. I think you have come as close as possible to detailing the actual sequence of events, while preserving consistency with other related articles. I really admire your persistence and impressive ability to locate reliable German sources to support your edits. And I appreciate your willingness to enhance the article on Ernest Louis, which will tie everything up pretty nicely. Great work. Historybuff0105 (talk) 21:01, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

What do you have on ...

:1) ''Reichswehrgruppenkommando'' (no article in English).
:2) August Körber (no English article). I know he was a member of Adolf Hitler's personal bodyguard (originally known as the ''SS-Begleitkommando des Führers ↗'' (BKdF), later known as the ''Führerbegleitkommando'', FBK) from 1932 to April 1945. He was one of the original eight picked from a prospective twelve SS men presented by Sepp Dietrich, to serve as Hitler's personal bodyguard, the BKdF.[see Hoffmann (2000) p. 48)] I was thinking of writing an article on him, but the info in English, so far is bare-bones. Cheers,
Kierzek (talk) 02:48, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

:@User:Kierzek Hello. Regarding the ''Reichswehr'' commands, I only turned up a reference to their formation in Telford Taylor's ''Sword and Swastika'' p. 35, and a ''Reichswehr'' organizational chart, p.366. Not much, I'm afraid.
:I had even less success turning up anything on Körber, apart from the reference in Hoffmann that you already have. My other sources on the SS are rather general, with nothing on the BKdF in particular. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I hope you are able to pull something together, as our searches have only confirmed the dearth of information available. I know you would want to produce comprehensive articles, but even if you don't find much more, you still may want to consider just creating "stubs" that may provide an opportunity for other editors to contribute what they can - someone must have useful information. Just a suggestion. Best of luck. Historybuff0105 (talk) 15:54, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
::Historybuff0105: thanks for checking on ''Reichswehrgruppenkommando'' and Körber. As for the latter, I wrote the article on the BKdF, but except for the commanders, there is very little in English sources on the original members as I said and you concurred. Anyway, again thanks. Weimar's bicameral parliament

Hello again and thanks for the support on the 3 articles Str1977 changed. I often I feel like you're the only other person out there in Pond Weimar. I don't like having run-ins like the one with Str1977, but it should still be interesting to see how it plays out. GHStPaulMN (talk) 01:27, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

::@User:GHStPaulMN There is no need to thank me. Though I too dislike getting into these types of confrontations, I couldn't look the other way when your position was so obviously correct and so clearly supported. (I felt that the opposing viewpoint was even internally inconsistent. How can listing two separate bodies not be considered "bicameral"? I think the other editor is getting hung up on the terms "upper" and "lower" houses and missing the larger point.) At any rate, I think your proposed resolution is a most prudent one: not engaging in an edit war, setting out your reasoning with RS support and giving the opposing editor an opportunity to provide support, that has so far not been forthcoming. Allowing a few days for other consensus opinions to be offered is fair and generous (with over 840 watchers for the Weimar Republic article, certainly someone else has an opinion), but if nothing further develops, reinstatement is clearly supported. Thanks again for your excellent ongoing contributions to everything Weimar-related. Historybuff0105 (talk) 16:51, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

Yeah, that's correct — because there's a redirect already at that title, a regular user can't just move a page overtop of the redirect because that would require deleting the existing "page" first. An administrator could, because we have the ability to delete pages. However, since German naval history isn't really my area of expertise, I don't feel confident in reviewing it myself to see if it's ready for a move — but another editor has tagged it for an AFC review, so hopefully somebody with more knowledge in that subject area will get to it soon. Bearcat (talk) 21:24, 10 June 2026 (UTC)

:: @User:Bearcat Thank you for taking the time to review this issue and offer your advice. One other question - do I need to do anything further, such as contacting the person who tagged it for review, or will the issue be self-explanatory when they review the draft? And does the tagging person review it or does it go into a "pool" of reviewers? I'm not really familiar with the nuts and bolts of the review process. Should I reach out to someone with a heads-up about the issue as I did with you, or just wait until it is reviewed? Thanks for any further advice you can give. Historybuff0105 (talk) 22:34, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
::: They just added the tag that puts it in the review queue, that doesn't commit them to reviewing it themselves. Unfortunately it's mostly just a process of waiting for somebody to get around to it now, but if you do want to reach out to someone you could post to a relevant Wikiproject, such as Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/German military history task force ↗. Bearcat (talk) 23:09, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::@User:Bearcat Thanks for the reply. I think I understand the process better now. I'll take a day to think about whether I want to reach out to the specialized task force with a heads-up. I appreciate your speedy reply and your helpful advice. Historybuff0105 (talk) 23:34, 10 June 2026 (UTC)

AH Golden Party badge number

Hello: What info do you have. This is what I have per RS sources:
Hitler's issued party number was originally '555'. In the beginning, the party began counting membership at 500 to give the impression they were a much larger party.(Kershaw 2008 p. 76) However, in Hitler's biographical book, ''Mein Kampf'', he declared that his Nazi Party membership was number '7'.(Kershaw 2008 p. 76) He was in fact only the seventh member of the leadership committee.(Kershaw 2008 p. 76) When the Nazi Party was re-founded in 1925, he took the party number 1 and that was the number on his Golden Party Badge that he presented to Magda Goebbels on 27 April 1945.(Angolia 1989 p. 183). Kierzek (talk) 18:36, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

:{{Re|Kierzek}} I was responding to a recent request for additional citations and was able to fill in a few by reviewing/expanding the existing cites. I really don't have anything new or different from what you just provided. I did find Evans' ''Coming of the Third Reich'' (2003, p. 170) confirming the use of the 500 number series to give the appearance of a larger number of party members. I couldn't find anything on the 2004 auction, the alleged sworn statements by Linge and Hoffmann or the Annie Winter allegations. If you could add the Kershaw citation regarding the 500 issue and the Angolia citation regarding the number 1 at re-founding, that would supply two more requested cites. It seems more digging would be needed to fill in the rest of the blanks. Historybuff0105 (talk) 20:37, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
