Notability
Please review our notability ↗ guidelines, especially the one pertaining to settlements and regions, at WP:GEOLAND ↗. I've just moved three of your articles back to drafts, because they provide no evidence that the subjects are notable. Creating such articles is a waste of time, as they will inevitably be either deleted or draftified. I suggest you put your creations through the AfC review process until you are confident that you can comply with notability and other policies. Thank you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:53, 2 August 2024 (UTC)

Making inadequately sourced settlement stubs is a huge timewaster for everyone else on WP. Sources like GNS and (in the US) GNIS are problematic ↗, and it's clear that you are are using some source that you aren't listing in the articles: they wouldn't have locations otherwise. And a passing reference in a news article doesn't cut it, especially since that's not your real source. If you need help with this, ask people, but don't just keep making these articles. Understanding what sources are reliable
25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Thank you for contributing to the article :Rangpuri people ↗. However, please do not use unreliable sources such as blogs, wikis, personal websites, and websites and publications with a poor reputation for checking the facts or with no editorial oversight. One of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable ↗ through reliable sources ↗, preferably using inline citations ↗. If you require further assistance, please look at Help:Menu/Editing Wikipedia ↗, or ask at the Teahouse ↗. Thank you.<!-- Template:uw-unreliable --> --Worldbruce (talk) 16:02, 1 February 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Mymensinghi language
Hello Jacklincoln47,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Mymensinghi language ↗ for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace ↗ that's not for articles.

Misuse of "former"
Context is important when determining whether to use the word "former" about someone. Some examples:
'''Past'''
File:Green_check.png ↗ In 1991, boxing champion Holyfield appeared on TV. (He was champion at the time being discussed.)
File:Green_check.png ↗ Former boxing champion Holyfield fought Tyson in June 1997. (He had been champion, but going into the fight no longer was).
'''Present'''
File:Green_check.png ↗ Former boxing champion Holyfield is age 62. (He was champion, but is not now.)
It is incorrect to write:
30px ↗ Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stated [in 2014] that ...
because when she made the statement, in 2014, she was prime minister. There has been a rash of mistakes like this on Wikipedia since she was deposed. I'm not sure why. Perhaps people are so excited that she is no longer prime minister that they mindlessly slap a "former" in front of it every time they see it. Perhaps English is not their first language, and they don't realize it's an error. In any case, don't add "former" as you did in this edit ↗, it is wrong. --Worldbruce (talk) 22:20, 29 March 2025 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to :Khandesh ↗ when you modified the page, you introduced {{cl|Unknown parameters|unknown parameters}}. Just because you specify {{para|some_param|{{var|some_variable}}}} does not always mean that variable will display. The {{para|some_param}} must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview ↗ button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a '''Show preview''' button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history ↗ of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk ↗ for assistance.
Thank you.<!-- User:Zackmann08/uw/Unknown-params-warning --> '''<span style="color:#00d5ff">Zack</span><span style="color:#007F94">mann</span>''' (<sup>Talk to me ↗</sup>/<sub><span style="color:orange">What I been doing</span> ↗</sub>) 14:57, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello. I have noticed that you {{usertalk other|often ↗|often}} edit without using an edit summary ↗. Please do your best to {{strong|always fill in the summary field}}. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to set {{Preferences|3|check={{int:tog-forceeditsummary}}}}. Thanks! <!-- Template:Uw-editsummary2 --> Ekdalian (talk) 17:34, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
:This is a reminder to fill in the edit summary field! Don't spoil your own record unnecessarily! In fact, your edits may also be reverted due to missing edit summaries. Hope you will do your best. Thanks. Ekdalian (talk) 09:14, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to '''the region of South Asia ↗ (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups''', a topic designated as '''''contentious ↗'''''. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and <em>does <strong>not</strong> imply that there are any issues with your editing</em>.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee ↗. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators ↗ have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit <strong>carefully and constructively</strong>, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia ↗;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines ↗;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system ↗.
<p><strong>Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days ↗ in order to make edits related to two subtopics:</strong> (1) Indian military history, or (2) social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.</p><p>Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics <em>procedures</em>, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard ↗ or you may learn more about this contentious topic ↗. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{tl|Ctopics/aware}} template. </p>}}<!-- Derived from Template:Contentious topics/alert/first --> Ekdalian (talk) 07:31, 16 February 2026 (UTC)

Bengali dialects
Hi, please be sure to read WP:SYNTH ↗ (and more broadly, WP:OR ↗) and WP:CIRCULAR ↗. The content you are adding violates these pillars, and does not belong in Wikipedia. You must show that the sources are talking about the subject, and conclusions should not be drawn as ''therefore''; only relay information presented in the sources. The one source you added for geographical distribution of Sundarbani directly used Wikipedia as a source. The accompanying figure was even the same map you removed for being unreliable, with a citation needed tag visible in their screenshot nonetheless. ~ <span style="color: #e3308a">oklopfer</span> (💬) 13:33, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

User-generated sources
Prior existence of user generated sources ↗ in an article is not a valid reason to add more. If you are aware of their existence, you should remove them, not maintain them. They are largely unacceptable to use as sources for Wikipedia. Even though sample texts are important for language articles, they must come from reliable sources ↗; in fact, user generated sources are particularly dangerous for sample texts. ~ <span style="color: #e3308a">oklopfer</span> (💬) 00:17, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

Speedy deletion ↗ nomination of :Kanglu ↗
48px|left|alt=|link= ↗
A tag has been placed on :Kanglu ↗, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It is an "attack page" or an unsourced biography of a living person that is entirely negative in tone. (See section G10 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗.) <br/> '''Do not''' create pages that attack, threaten, or disparage ↗ their subject or any other entity, or articles about living people ↗ that are entirely negative and unsourced. Attack pages, attack files and negative unreferenced BLPs '''are not tolerated''' by Wikipedia, and users who create or add such material may be '''blocked ↗ from editing'''
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, ''etc.''), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable ↗.
- It appears to be about something made up ↗, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗.)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by visiting the page ↗ and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines ↗. Md. Muqtadir Fuad (talk) 20:50, 18 May 2026 (UTC)

flag of Barua people
How did you know that the Barua's flag was the fake flag? Aung Aoyan (talk) 09:22, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
:The reason I said the flag used in the Barua people article is fake is that I have never seen it being used. I have visited Chittagong many times and have met Buddhist people there, but I have never seen this flag used in practice. If there is reliable evidence that this flag is genuinely used by the community, I will restore my edit. Jacklincoln47 (talk) 17:13, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
::The Barua people are not only from Chittagong. There are Barua communities in Myanmar as well, and they use the Barua flag to represent their ethnic identity. If you look at their traditional attire, you can also see similarities to the colors and design of that flag. Aung Aoyan (talk) 17:37, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
:::I get it, they have their own traditions, which should not be confused with Bengali or Plains Chittagonian culture. However, I need to verify whether their "flag" is authentic and real. Without solid evidence or a reliable source, the flag cannot be added and may even be removed from Wikimedia for potentially being fake and misleading. Jacklincoln47 (talk) 17:58, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
::::https://www.facebook.com/share/v/18o1W7Ke4s/
::::Please watch the video from this link. The Barua flag is used in this program. Also, why do you see the Baruas of Bangladesh differently? The Baruas are an old ethnic group. Their culture is very different from Bengali culture. Aung Aoyan (talk) 12:07, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::Do you perhaps have a link to the official website of the "Maramagri Youth Network", if they have one? As for the claim that I said Bangladeshi Baruas are different, I never made that claim. When did I ever say that, mate? Jacklincoln47 (talk) 12:38, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
