Question from Wh3reitwill (09:06, 5 April 2026)
Hello! How to do copyedit? --Wh3reitwill (talk) 09:06, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from Pearlocean1256 (06:39, 8 April 2026)
Hello,
I want to start to contribute to Wikipedia by translating some articles in French language in order to better understand how Wikipedia works. What are your recommendations? --Pearlocean1256 (talk) 06:39, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. Sorry for taking a bit to reply. I personally don't find translation too useful, because English Wikipedia usually has higher quality standards than other languages, but feel free to try. If you decide to, read the guide at Wikipedia:Translation ↗ — there are some important rules to follow for legal reasons. Good luck! JustARandomSquid (talk) 12:19, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
Question from Hyperspace2025 (19:07, 13 April 2026)
Hey! Would love your help! I was trying to setup an attraction in Dubai called AYA Universe, currently in review and it could take 3 months..wondering if possible, i could edit the business that owns that attraction, which owns another one in dubai called House of Hype.. what you recommend so in 3 months i dont start over if the current draft gets rejected... thanks for the advice! --Hyperspace2025 (talk) 19:07, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. As for the length of time for your draft to get reviewed, that number is only the age of the oldest submissions (and is back down to 2 months now anyway) — most submissions don't take that long to get reviewed. If this business has an article already, you can edit it — anyone can — just remember to write neutrally about it and cite your sources. That being said, if you have some sort of connection to this company, you'll want to follow our conflict of interest guidelines ↗. They can be annoying, but Wikipedia has had far too many bad experiences with people affiliated with companies trying to promote their business. Hope that helps! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. JustARandomSquid (talk) 21:15, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. I see someone has already left some useful links on your talk page — you can read through those, or you can start at Help:Introduction ↗. Hope that helps! JustARandomSquid (talk) 19:46, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
Question from KezzaAms (13:36, 16 April 2026)
Hi, I would like to write pages only based on virtual fashion, AI fashion, and digital fashion. Can you give me suggestions on what's the best way for me to niche it down? Should I go super broad with the pages, or should I stay very focused on a very specific vertical within the industry? --KezzaAms (talk) 13:36, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. You might find the guide at Help:Your first article ↗ useful. One thing it'll tell you is that the topic you're writing about must meet notability standards ↗ — in a nutshell, there must have already been several reliable sources writing about a topic for it to have an article. In practice, this means you can't just choose a random topic to write essays about, as this could cross into original research ↗, which isn't allowed. Writing an article from scratch is one of the hardest tasks for newcomers, but you're always welcome to try. Feel free to ask any questions you might have, and good luck! JustARandomSquid (talk) 14:54, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
::Is it good to reference a lot of existing articles? What's the best way to generate trust? Of course I aim to be non-biased and only reference outside sources and link to those KezzaAms (talk) 15:15, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
:::If you mean existing Wikipedia articles, no, you shouldn't use them as references because Wikipedia isn't a reliable source ↗. Other articles published by reputable journals or established news outlets, yes, absolutely — in fact, ideally, every single fact in your article should be backed up by a citation ↗ to a reliable source! JustARandomSquid (talk) 15:43, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
::::Great, that's helpful thank you. And also my intention to approach it through citations from reputable fashion publications. KezzaAms (talk) 07:42, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from Gbanys (01:54, 22 April 2026)
Hello! Thanks so much for your offer of help. I wanted to get into things here before asking you any basic setup questions - but I think I finally stumbled upon one. When editing/adding links to an article, is it best practice to add a link to each occurrence of a topic, or is it better to link to it once in the beginning of the article? (i.e. if the article is about penguins but it references the arctic multiple times, should I add a link every time it says arctic, or is that overkill?) Thanks in advance for the advice! --Gbanys (talk) 01:54, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. There is in fact an entire guideline about adding links, at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking ↗. To quote from there:
:{{quote|Link a term at most once per major section, at first occurrence. Do not re-link in other sections if not contextually important there. Other mentions may be linked if helpful, such as in infoboxes, tables, image captions, footnotes, and hatnotes.}}
:Hope that helps, and that you like it here and decide to stay. Feel free to ask any other questions you might have! JustARandomSquid (talk) 07:32, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
Question from Ayden D. Irwin (07:59, 22 April 2026)
Howdy,
I'm having an issue trying to add a newspaper to this list: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_newspapers_in_Minnesota) between the Montgomery Messenger and Moose Lake Star-Gazette. I have this text written though the page is refusing to save edits:
|-
|''The Monticello Times ↗''
|Monticello ↗
|Wright
|1857
|Weekly (Thurs.)
|Adams Publishing Group ↗
|<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.hometownsource.com/monticello_times/monticello-times-newspaper-marks-167-years-of-printing/article_cad76394-178a-11ef-b840-db9328c8a782.html|website=Hometownsource|access-date=April 22, 2026}}</ref>
|-
is there something particularly wrong with this set of code information? I had planned after adding this to create a wikipage for this newspaper as well for I'm extensively involved with it, and within the next decade I intend on purchasing it, so I figure it ought to get its proper representation being the third oldest newspaper in the state of Minnesota!
Thanks for any help,
Ayden D. Irwin --Ayden D. Irwin (talk) 07:59, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. I'm currently on my phone, which means that it'll unfortunately be hard for me figure out why that wouldn't work. Perhaps there need to be spaces or new lines after the pipes? Also, have you tried using the Visual editor? You might find it easier. Incidentally, if you're involved with the newspaper, you might want to read WP:COI ↗ before writing an article about it. Sorry I can't be more useful. Please feel free to ask if you have any more questions. Good luck! JustARandomSquid (talk) 09:41, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
Question from Stephaniejupp (16:05, 23 April 2026)
I want to edit a fact in a Wikipaedia article assigned to my grandfather Frederick Aubrey Hoghton. His father W A Hoghton was NOT a member of the ICS but was Chief Inspector, Postal Dept, Scinde and Persian Gulf in 1874 (3 years before his death). Question from MCoulthartb2 (22:41, 25 April 2026)
Hello. I received a message about conflict of interest from an editor, "Leonidlednev" about half an hour ago, cautioning me about conflict of interest when editing an article about myself. As I explained to them, I was indeed in the process of correcting a number of gaps, inaccuracies and absurdities in the article (which appeared out of nowhere a few years ago from an unknown source), and explained this to the editor. I have not yet received a response to my explanation. I would very much like to have some guidance on how to undertake this necessary correction please, or alternatively to have the article taken down in its entirety. Thank you. -- Michael Coulthart --MCoulthartb2 (talk) 22:41, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. The guidelines for editors with a conflict of interest are extremely restrictive, because Wikipedia has way too many bad experiences with people trying to promote themselves or their company. This also means that even if you do submit edit requests like the guideline tells you to it's highly likely you'll have to wait a very long time to get them answered. This is alright if you're patient, however there is something else I can offer you. We also have equally strong guidelines ↗ to determine which topics warrant an article, and looking at your article I'm not sure it meets them. If you are in fact ok with the article being taken down, I think that could be managed. The fact the article subject also wants it deleted isn't a decisive factor, but it can be taken into account. Tell me if that's what you'd like, so I can proceed. Feel free to ask any other questions you might have. JustARandomSquid (talk) 07:30, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
::Excellent .. thank you for proposing the solution. Yes, I would like the article to be taken down please. There is a related article as well, on the Canadian Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Surveillance System (the unit I ran between 2005 and 2026 when I was working for the Canadian federal government), that also mentions me with inaccurate facts and similar or identical gaps and absurdities. It may have been posted at the same time —- I don’t know, because I just noticed it yesterday. I realize I don’t have the same case for it to be taken down as I do with the BLP about me, but would it be reasonable for me to edit it if I can demonstrate I am no longer in COI (as I recently retired)? Thank you for your detailed attention and understanding. -Mike ~2026-25351-36 ↗ (talk) 13:50, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
::Hello. I have been reading the deletion discussion, and there seems to be a consensus that the bio should be deleted. I am very new to these Wikipedia discussions. May I ask how long it might take to finalize a decision and see the article taken down? Thanks! MCoulthartb2 (talk) 15:25, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Oh, sorry, I forgot to get back to you when I started the discussion. Deletion discussions usually run for a week, and only last longer if participants can't come to an agreement, which isn't the case here. I'll check in on it periodically to see what's going on. JustARandomSquid (talk) 16:59, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
::::Excellent .. thank you!! Once this is resolved I do have additional questions regarding a couple of other postings where my name happens to be mentioned (although this is not the motivation — they could both just use some careful edits, and I need to be sure I do not cross COI guidelines). ~2026-25351-36 ↗ (talk) 17:03, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
Question from Marilyn Salvacion (11:48, 26 April 2026)
How to find here job...?? --Marilyn Salvacion (talk) 11:48, 26 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from Softwareperson1000 26 April 2026
Hello, what do I do if I want to upload an image to wikipedia that is licensed under the GNU GPL version 2 or any later version? There is no option in the image uploading tool en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Upload for GPLv2+ so should I just select the closest generic option (in this case I believe Software screenshot is the closest one) despite it being implied it is non-free media for those generic options. The Free options basically only provide Creative Commons licenses as options, but those are not the only free licenses that exist and I am fairly certain GPL qualifies as a Free license on Wikipedia here even when it's used for media other than software. I wonder if I could also choose "None selected" as an option or would that be invalid Softwareperson1000 (talk) 12:08, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! That's strange. I'd recommend you go to the upload page on Wikimedia Commons and try there — when it asks for a license, give it "{{template|GPLv2+}}". You should be able to use it on Wikipedia, and it's preferable images be uploaded to Commons anyway because they can then be used by other Wikimedia projects. Hope that helps! Feel free to ask if you have any other questions. JustARandomSquid (talk) 15:06, 26 April 2026 (UTC)

More than 3 months ago, you submitted this article for review. I have spent more than 3 months working on it and about 60 edits have been made. Please do not object to removing it from the review list. I will, of course, continue to work on it but it will be a labor of love work rather than having a boss stand over your head and demand work. It's just a little nicer if the review process were concluded. Thank you.

Hello,
I recently created this account and was assigned to you as a mentor. I am also the subject of the article Karestan Koenen and have a conflict of interest regarding edits to that page.
I posted a request on the article's Talk page asking whether independent editors might consider expanding the article to cover several aspects of my research and professional leadership that are currently absent.
I am not looking to edit the article directly, but I was wondering whether you might have advice on the best way to proceed or whether there are WikiProjects or editors who might be interested in reviewing the request.
Thank you for any guidance you can provide. I appreciate it thank you. --Kckoenen (talk) 20:10, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from Galaxyhype (22:55, 8 June 2026)
Hi! My edits keep getting reverted, even though I was never intending to vandalize anything. I was only adding helpful, additional information with cited sources to back them up. Is there anything I can do? --Galaxyhype (talk) 22:55, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! That can be frustrating. The revert by CluebotNG is automatic — it's usually right, but sometimes it messes up. If you're sure your edit is good, just revert back and ignore it. Of the other two reverts, the one on Blossom (The Powerpuff Girls) ↗ makes more sense, because I guess you did technically remove content, even though I wouldn't bother reverting that, but I have to say I don't understand this ↗ other revert. There's no reason given, so perhaps I'm missing something. Maybe @Xexerss can stop by and explain? Otherwise, I don't think you're doing a bad job at all for a beginner. Stay neutral, cite your sources, and happy editing! JustARandomSquid (talk) 06:47, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for responding. I actually moved some of the information (like the ages) to List of Characters in The Powerpuff Girls page because it would make more sense there. But other than that, I only just corrected a minor spelling error and added a picture of Blossom from The Powerpuff Girls (2016). I unfortunately did have a bot list me in Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism when I made slight adjustments to List of Characters in The Powerpuff Girls page, but I wasn't even vandalizing any pages at all. Perhaps it could be reported as a false positive? Thanks very much! I've had experiences editing on other wikis that weren't Wikipedia, though it was on rare occasions. I may not be on here that much, but thanks anyway! Galaxyhype (talk) 06:58, 9 June 2026 (UTC)

Hello JustARandomSquid. I wish to add under References, further reviews from contemporary publications of the game Troy. Please provide a pathway for me. --Podarces (talk) 23:29, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! Sorry for the late reply. I assume you mean the article Troy (game) ↗? You can't just add links in references, because you have to be using them to reference some material. You can either create a "further reading" section, or, better, summarise some content from these reviews, under "Reception", for example, and then cite those publications as source. Feel free to ask me if you need any help doing that. Good luck! JustARandomSquid (talk) 17:39, 17 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi,
Hope you are good. I need to change the title of this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fr%C3%A9gate_Island from Frégate Island to Fregate Island. How do I do that? Can't find the way to edit the title, only the content.

:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. I don't know what device you're on, so I can't give you any specific advice, but you're looking for the "Move" option. There's a page on it at WP:MOVE ↗. Hope that helps! JustARandomSquid (talk) 13:05, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
::hi, thank you for the welcome and reply. I'm using google chrome on a laptop. I am not trying to move anything, just need to change the title from Frégate Island to Fregate Island.
::Thanks! Esteban-Fregate (talk) 14:04, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
:::"Move" actually is the option for renaming. It's a little bit confusing, but you're moving the content of the article from one page title to another, if that makes sense. This is because you can't change the URL of the page — you have to move the page to a new URL. I hope I've managed to explain that. I don't currently have access to a desktop to tell you exactly how to do it, but if I recall correctly, the option should be in a toolbar to the right of the screen. Good luck! :A userbox actually is a type of template. I assume the issue is that in the visual editor once you type "{{" it opens the template selector for you? The only fix there is to try switching to the source editor and then copy-pasting the code there. JustARandomSquid (talk) 09:04, 20 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi,
Why is MrOllie undoing everything I am doing?
I've noticed complaints all over the internet about him too --Cardinalhijack (talk) 21:43, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. This is a fairly common situation, where some of our most prolific anti-vandalism editors can't find enough patience to properly explain Wikipedia policy and guidelines to new editors and create unnecessarily hostile situations. Unfortunately, this time I think they're right. The source you were using isn't really reliable ↗ for Wikipedia purposes, for all the reasons they mentioned. We generally want books, journals, newspaper articles, etc., and not what is basically unsigned information pages from fan-run mod lists. Additionally, as someone mentioned in one of the discussions, the fact that there are other citations in the article that don't meet our standards doesn't mean more should be added — see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS ↗. As I said, it's unfortunate that the first editors you encountered were a little brash in trying to explain this to you though. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, and I'll try to explain them as best as I can. Happy editing! JustARandomSquid (talk) 18:55, 27 June 2026 (UTC)

:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. You are correct — plot summaries that simply re-tell a story from a work don't generally need citations, because it's assumed that the source is the work itself. You can remove the orange banner, if that's what was confusing you. Hope that helps! Feel free to ask any other questions you might have. JustARandomSquid (talk) 08:43, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. Your article is publicly available, but is in what's called your user space, which means it doesn't officially count as an article, and won't usually show up in, for example, Google searches. There is a page on publishing articles that you might find useful at Help:Your first article ↗. The current next step if you wanted to get this article published would be to submit it for review at Articles for creation (AfC), which you can do by opening your page in the source editor (the one that's like code) and adding {{code|<nowiki>{{subst:submit}}</nowiki>}} at the very top. Hope that helps! Feel free to ask if you have any other questions. JustARandomSquid (talk) 13:59, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

Hi, JustARandomSquid. You are cordially invited to the brand new Wikipedia:Mentorship noticeboard ↗! Question from Jamie9870 on St Martin's at St Chad's ↗ (08:52, 7 July 2026)
Hello, I've been suggested to add sources to this article, but I can't find any reliable sources. Could you help me with this. Thank you in adcance! --Jamie9870 (talk) 08:52, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. Sorry for the delay in answering. Adding sources to articles is a really important job on Wikipedia — the best articles have all information in them cited to reliable sources ↗. Unfortunately, a lot of articles, especially old ones, have been written backwards ↗, meaning someone wrote from memory and now has to add sources. When looking for sources, always search Google, Google Scholar and Google Books as the minimum. If you're familiar with the topic, you might also know more places to find sources, like local library websites etc. It is possible you won't find any sources — from my quick search, I don't see any for this article. In that case, the article topic might not be notable ↗. If you're absolutely sure there are no sources anywhere (even physical books you might not have access to), perhaps the article should be deleted. The suggestions feature is a valuable tool to show newcomers the range of work done here at Wikipedia, but long term you're better off finding a topic you're interested in, one where you know where to find sources, and focusing your energy there. So for now, my suggestion would be, if you can't find sources for this article, to find another article, either randomly or through some topic you find interesting, and try and find sources for that. If you can't, don't sweat it— just choose another article and try that. Even one added citation is a valuable contribution. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask any more questions you might have! Hi, I am a hepato-pancreato-biliary surgeon. What are talk pages and why do they matter? --DrZulqarnainHyidarOfficial (talk) 06:59, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. Each article here has a corresponding talk page — in the simplest terms, they're used for talking about the article. Users interested in the article can leave messages to each other, discussing and coordinating on how best to improve the article. When starting on large edits to an article, it's not a bad idea to check the talk page to see if other editors have left anything there that you should be aware of. There's a simple guide to talk pages here ↗, which has a link at the bottom to a more detailed technical guide if you want to learn more. Hope that helps!
