Liszt

Nice job cleaning up Liszt so far. What are your plans for it? '''<span style="font-family:Lucida;"><span style="color:darkred">Aza24</span><span style="color:#848484"> (talk)</span></span>''' 06:33, 19 February 2024 (UTC)

:Thanks! I'm working on a section on his relationships with other composers, and I think the biography section needs more work, but after that I think I'll put it forward for GA review to give myself a sense of closure (if I'm not completely burnt out). The FA process seems too intimidating! Ligaturama (talk) 08:37, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
::Yeah, biography could use some citation clean up, but looks good overall. I think the legacy section is the biggest gap; I like your additions to the teaching section, but we need more on influence and reputation. Check out how this is done at Josquin des Prez#Legacy ↗, Claude Debussy#Influence on later composers ↗ or Frédéric Chopin#Reception and influence ↗, for some ideas. Obviously these three are FAs, so the Liszt could have a smaller scale for that section, and since each are suited for the specific composer, Liszt's will have to be as well.
::GA is a great goal. Let me know when you nominate it there—I would be happy to review it. '''<span style="font-family:Lucida;"><span style="color:darkred">Aza24</span><span style="color:#848484"> (talk)</span></span>''' 02:12, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
:::Yeah you're right, I did kind of swerve the legacy of his compositions, partly because I felt that it belongs more in Musical works of Franz Liszt ↗, and I haven't come across a huge amount written just on that topic. It does look extremely sparse though, I'm sure I can flesh it out. Thanks a lot for the examples and the offer of a GA review, I'll give you a message after I nominate. Hey, I'm happy to help out with the Liszt GAN while you're away (i.e. do the copy & pasting of notes references asked by CurryTime). I can also try and address some of my own comments. Percy Bysshe Shelley

Hello there

Is there a policy or convention regarding the use of maiden names for spouses in the info box? Shelley's first wife is given as Harriet Westbrook so it would be consistent to style his second wife Mary Godwin. She is also referred to as Mary Godwin in the article up to the point of her marriage to Shelley. I think this outweighs any confusion which might be caused to casual readers who only look at the info box and not the article. Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 08:08, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

:Hiya - existing policy/docs such as MOS:BIRTHNAME ↗ and WP:NCP ↗ seem to just be around article titles or when the person in question is the article subject, but the guidance on the "spouse" entry in Template:Infobox person ↗ says "{{tq|Use article title (if linking) or common name}}", both of which are of course Mary Shelley. As infoboxes are meant to impart useful information at a glance, it seems sensible to me to use the name she is known for (her marriage predates any significant work as far as I'm aware), rather than having people click through wondering who Mary Godwin is and being redirected to Mary Shelley.
:I see your point about consistency with Westbrook; to me the difference is that she isn't independently notable under either name, so I think it's less important which name she's put under. I disagree that we should prioritise people reading his biography over "casual" infobox readers; if anything I think that's a reason to keep her as Shelley in the infobox, to cater for people wanting a short summary without unnecessary confusion.
:If you want to start a conversation on the talk page to see what others think then I can copy this response to there, but I think keeping consistency with the infobox guidelines is the way to go. Ligaturama (talk) 09:54, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
::Thanks for the response. I see your reasoning, and we only occasionally have people changing it to Godwin. (They are more likely to confuse her with Mary Wollstonecraft!) Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 21:59, 20 June 2024 (UTC)

Why has the Nationality and Date of Birth been removed

Blp this page had the nationality the education and the date of birth which was removed today why? The page hasn't had a problem with date of birth nationality with any other updates. How is the United Nations and International Telecommunications Union poorly sourced or controversial how is the UK Parliament papers controversial or poorly sourced they are governments servers in the United Kingdom. The Book is uploaded into an Australian Library Archives that is the format. why is a United Nations expert considered controversial or poory sourced.Do you have better suggestions other than to remove the information thats been there for many years. And anyone can self-publish a book, I think it's misleading to then describe that person as an "author". Ligaturama (talk) 10:01, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

Edit reversion

Hello. Regarding the reversion from me adding serial commas, they are found throughout the rest of the article, so I am just curious about why we are not being consistent about their usage. Thank you for your time and be well. Examples from the article:
"As a token of respect for Roman religion, however, Elagabalus joined either Astarte, Minerva, Urania, or some combination of the three to Elagabal as consort. A union between Elagabal and a traditional goddess would have served to strengthen ties between the new religion and the imperial cult. There may have been an effort to introduce Elagabal, Urania, and Athena as the new Capitoline Triad of Rome—replacing Jupiter, Juno, and Minerva."
"The most sacred relics from the Roman religion were transferred from their respective shrines to the Elagabalium, including the emblem of the Great Mother, the fire of Vesta, the Shields of the Salii, and the Palladium, so that no other god could be worshipped except in association with Elagabal."
"Dio says Elagabalus delighted in being called Hierocles's mistress, wife, and queen."
"Some historians, including the classicists Mary Beard, Zachary Herz, and Martijn Icks, treat these accounts with caution, as sources for Elagabalus' life were often antagonistic towards him and largely untrustworthy." Lime green k (talk) 21:12, 11 August 2024 (UTC)

T. S Eliot, Vivienne and Emily Hale. Please undo

T.S Eliot features in all four books of The Eliot Quartet by Steven Carroll
Vivien features in the last book of the Quartet
Emily Hale is a character along with T.S. Eliot in the first book of the Quartet and Emily Hale is the main character in third book of the Quartet. Steven Carroll's Quarter is award winning and highly regarded. Lakelady2282 (talk) 12:01, 23 January 2026 (UTC)

:Per my edit summaries, Carroll's article is not relevant to the articles you linked him on, although it may be the case that ''those'' articles are relevant to ''his'' and so should be linked from there. Knowing that Carroll featured Vivien Eliot and Emily Hale in his work is irrelevant to an understanding of those topics, and it would be absurd to list every work influenced by Eliot in his article. Note that the other entries there are ''about'' his work, because they are intended to further a reader's understanding of the article topic. See MOS:FURTHER ↗ and MOS:SEEALSO ↗. Thank you

Thank you for your review of Rising (Rainbow album) ↗. Do you have suggestions for Did you know entries based on this article? Lewismaster (talk) 16:08, 23 June 2026 (UTC)

:You're welcome! For a DYK hook I'd consider the drama between Ritchie Blackmore and the other band members during the tour; maybe something about how he publicly sacked Tony Carey, then realised he needed a keyboardist for the rest of the tour, then sacked him at the end of the tour, then got him back for the next album? (Then sacked him again, but that's not in the ''Rising'' article). Ligaturama (talk) 16:15, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
