Missing edit summary

25px|alt=|link= ↗ Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia ↗. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary ↗, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Aeroflot accidents and incidents ↗. :As above, regarding your recent edits to British rigid airships. This is not a subject upon which I am an expert, but for certain a couple of the edits- notably the one to R.100 claiing R.101 was development- are certainly wrong.TheLongTone (talk) 21:45, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

engine family infoboxes

Hi! Thanks for adding infoboxes to some of the engine articles. However, bore, stroke, power and torque values only make sense on individual engines (eg 4U) but they don't make much sense on the infobox used for the whole family of engine (eg Toyota U engine ↗. It is better to have a simple infobox with most fields blanks at the top of the article and then have more infoboxes for each engine variation with bore, stroke, etc. Thanks. <span style="border:1px solid blue;color:blue">'''&nbsp;Stepho&nbsp;'''&nbsp;<span style="font-size:xx-small; vertical-align:top">talk ↗&nbsp;</span></span> 01:17, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Toyota FXS details

Thank you for your recent additions to Toyota FXS ↗. Do you have sources for the engine HP, the length/width and that it uses the Soarer UZZ platform (which is really called the Z30 platform)? Is it truly a convertible (I can't see any sign of a retractable top) or just a 2 door with no roof? List of Farm to Market Roads in Texas (300–399)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi, and thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give :Draft:List of Farm to Market Roads in Texas (300-399) ↗ a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into :List of Farm to Market Roads in Texas (300–399) ↗. This is known as a "cut-and-paste ↗ move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history ↗, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be ''moved'' to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits ↗, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab ↗ at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu ↗ for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect ↗ from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves ↗ to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen ↗. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-c&pmove--> –Fredddie 03:29, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Aeroflot Flight 65

Hi Meltdown627, Thanks for fixing the stopover section in the infobox. Early in my research of this incident, I too believed the aircraft was a Tu-114D long range version. Eventually I discovered only one "D" version was produced, registration CCCP-76479, serial number 628445 referenced here: http://russianplanes.net/planelist/Tupolev/Tu-114/116/126. In the article only one of the five references refer to the aircraft (incorrectly in my opinion) as a "D". If you have time take a look and see what you think. Sincerely, Samf4u (talk) 02:28, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Earthquake parameters

Wow, you're banging out those parameter updates! Well, thanks. (I sent you a public thank-you on one edit; I hope you won't mind if don't click on all of your edits.)

Something else you might do as you go through these articles: change, in the text as well in the infobox, instances of <code><nowiki>[Moment magnitude scale|Mw]]</nowiki></code> to {{tlx|M|w|link{{=}}y}}. (And similar for other scales.) But in doing so, check whether the ANSS (or ISC) is using a different scale, such as {{M|ww}} or {{M|b}}. We should also be citing the source of the magnitudes, but there is no rush to do that, as the tracking categories can bring us back to those. But there is no ready way (that I know of) of finding instances of wikilinks, so it is better to fix them as we find them.

Thanks again, and let me know if you have any questions. &diams;&nbsp;J.&nbsp;Johnson&nbsp;(JJ) (talk ↗) 00:03, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

P.S. Something else I just remembered: I think it is clearer if the non-map parameters all go below the map parameters. I.e., between the "caption=" and "intensity=" parameters. A lot of articles have "date=" just below "title="; I usually move that down and convert it to "local-date=", followed by "local-time=". That makes it easier to check everything. &diams;&nbsp;J.&nbsp;Johnson&nbsp;(JJ) (talk ↗) 00:33, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. List of state highway spurs in Kansas

I removed K-61 Spur and K-153 Spur. Even though they are referred to as "spur routes" they still link to a State or US highway at each end. The page "List of state highway spurs in Kansas" is only for kansas state routes that only connect to a State or US highway at one end. Also do you have a reference for K-12 spur? -420Traveler (talk) 16:05, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

Anchors

Hi Meltdown627, I just noticed that last year you modified the parameter of an <nowiki>{{anchor|...}}</nowiki> template here ↗. You must not do this, the reason for an anchor is to keep references intact even if a section heading changes. I've restored the old anchor parameter now ↗, thus Schütte-Lanz SL2 ↗ now works again. Unsourced or badly-sourced material at 1942 Aeroflot Tupolev ANT-20bis crash ↗

Hi Meltdown627 -- I see you recently added a lot of material to 1942 Aeroflot Tupolev ANT-20bis crash ↗. The only citation you've included for any of it is to this page ↗. There are a few problems here:
Can you provide reliable sources for the claims you've made in this article? --Rlandmann (talk) 14:45, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
:Hi -- thanks for taking some action here, but there are still some significant problems.
:*The "Investigation" section is completely unreferenced. Do you have reliable sources for any of the material you've inserted into this section?
:*You have re-instated the "Flight" section verbatim, but have now copied-and-pasted references from the Russian Wikipedia article, including two print references which I'm guessing you have not actually viewed for yourself. The problems here are:
:**You do not cite which pieces of information in this section come from which of the three sources you cite (two reliable print sources, plus one unreliable web source ↗).
:**Both of the print sources you cite ''are'' very definitely reliable, but you have not included the page numbers, making it difficult to verify your claims. If I'm wrong and you ''did'' actually consult these sources yourself, please include the relevant page numbers. But if I'm right, and you simply copied-and-pasted these from Russian Wikipedia without checking them yourself, then you need to remove these citations.
:I've tagged the problems to hopefully make them easier to fix. If you can't support what you've written here with reliable sources that you've personally checked, it would be appropriate to remove those claims rather than have unsourced material sitting in the article. --Rlandmann (talk) 02:52, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
::Thanks for adding a citation to the "Investigation" section. Can you please also add the page number for that reference? I still wonder whether you have actually consulted it.
::I also assume that this edit ↗ means that you are now claiming that all of the things you've claimed in this section are to be found in all three sources that you say they are. Very well.
::This week, I will attempt to verify that (1) all the facts in the "Flight" section are in all three of the sources you've cited them to, and (2) that all the facts in the "Investigation" section are to be found in ''Авиация и космонавтика'', as you claim.
::I see from your talk page that a few people have warned you about citing material correctly over very many years. I hope that my attempts at verification will show that you have taken these warnings to heart.
::Finally, if you think that www.airdisaster.ru is truly a reliable source, then please give your reasoning. It sure looks like a self-published source ↗ to me. --Rlandmann (talk) 05:44, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
:::Thanks for your continuing efforts to clean up the sourcing for the material you added to this article. Some of this is definitely an improvement, and at the same time, you have introduced some new problems. Particularly concerning to me is that you are citing information to sources that is simply not in the sources that you claim it is. This further reinforces my impression that you had ''not'' consulted these sources prior to adding material to the article and instead, were just cribbing from Russian Wikipedia, then adding references you hadn't actually ever seen when I challenged this material.
:::*Thank you for removing airdiaster.ru. I was surprised to discover how often it is cited here on Wikipedia and have started a discussion on the Reliable Sources noticeboard ↗ to explore how we should handle this source more generally. If you believe it to be Reliable, then please weigh in. (And if you don't believe it is Reliable, then why did you cite it?)
:::*Thank you also for attempting to verify the material from ''Авиация и космонавтика''. Note that linking to a pirated copy of the magzine is '''not''' acceptable; I have removed this link. That aside, we can now see that a few of your claims in the "Investigation" section are not in the source you claim them to be in:
:::**the source does '''not''' conclude that the trimmer was activated by accident, like you claim
:::**it does '''not''' claim that the stabilizer was "raised" (whatever that even means...)
:::**your final whole sentence ("Due to confusion...") bears very little resemblance to anything in the source. In particular, it does '''not''' say anything about confusion, or about altitude. (And, indeed, offers other specifics that you did not include...)
:::**You have also cited this as a source for literally ''everything'' in the "Flight" section, when very little of what you wrote there is in this source. However, I will not attempt to disentangle that until I've obtained access to a copy of Kandalov & Duffy, hopefully later this week. Which brings me to:
:::*I also see that you have added some vague page numbers for Kandalov & Duffy. To me, it still looks like you have not consulted this book yourself. You are still claiming that this book contains ''all'' the information you have contributed in the "Flight" section, and now you are saying that it's all just "somewhere" between pages 61 and 63. I find that very difficult to believe. If I'm wrong, and you ''do'' actually have access to this book, please add the relevant page numbers to the various facts you have contributed.
::::It looks far more likely to me that you have found a table of contents for Kandalov & Duffy somewhere and are just guessing where some of these facts ''might'' be found in this book.
:::*Finally, you have cited the Tupolev website to support a whole range of claims that it simply does not include. If you want to use that source (and it's obviously a good one), you need to make sure that you're only attributing material to it that it actually contains.
:::I will continue my verification efforts. In the meantime, please be more careful if you plan to introduce any additional sources. --Rlandmann (talk) 23:53, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
::::So, a friend sent me a photo of the relevant paragraph from page 63 in Kandalov & Duffy, and around half the information that you claimed was in this source is not in there at all. It looks to me as if you still did not actually view this source yourself, or — worse — you knew that the information was not in there and that your citation was untrue. Do you have a reliable source for the claims you've made in the "Flight" section that are not covered by the source you said they were in? --Rlandmann (talk) 22:43, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
:::::I removed the Tupolev book reference and marked the "Flight" section as unreferenced, to open it up to other editors to find proper sources. I have also started removing the airdisaster.ru refs on the Aeroflot crash pages and if necessary, replacing them with sources from ASN or B3A.Meltdown627 (talk) 02:23, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

Warning about copyright infringement

30px|left|alt=Stop icon ↗ When adding links to material on external sites, as you did to :1942 Aeroflot Tupolev ANT-20bis crash ↗, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright ↗. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube ↗ or Sci-Hub ↗, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators '''will be blocked ↗ from editing.''' <br />
If you believe the linked site is ''not'' violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:
:*If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page ↗;
:*If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page ↗ with a link to where we can find that note;
:*If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page ↗;
If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. Spercifically, you linked to a site that pirates the entire content of an issue of Russian aerospace journal Авиация и космонавтика. Page split without attribution

Sorry to hit you with another template, but I just noticed you'd done this. There's no other action required from you here; just please be mindful of how to correctly split an article so that its attributions stay intact (important for copyright reasons): WP:PROSPLIT ↗. I'd do the cleanup myself, but I'm not experienced with the history merge process, and it's hard to "unmake the omelette" of something goes wrong! --Rlandmann (talk) 00:45, 21 July 2024 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi, and thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give :Aeroflot accidents and incidents ↗ a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into :Aeroflot accidents and incidents in the 1940s ↗. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move ↗", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history ↗, which is legally required for attribution ↗. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be ''moved'' to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits ↗, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab ↗ at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu ↗ for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect ↗ from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves ↗ to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge ↗. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-c&pmove --> Rlandmann (talk) 00:45, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
