Thanks for starting a merge discussion at Talk:List_of_rivers_by_discharge#Merge_Rivers_of_the_world_by_volume_flow_here ↗.

I think the editor that built the 2nd article is brand-new. They put a ''lot'' of work into the duplicate article: it is really attractive & compact; and the sources/cites are much better. I think with a bit more work, we can get a merged article that has all the data and looks a lot cleaner.

Yes, the original title should be kept; but maybe we can get to that after the content merging is completed?

If the new editor finds the merge discussion too hostile or intimidating, they may go away forever, and we'll lose all the work they did improving the citations & formatting.

I remember my first couple of years here in WP: I made tons of huge mistakes and had no clue about the guidelines. This merger process could be a good way to help the new editor learn, and also recruit a new editor to help build the encyclopedia. Noleander (talk) 13:43, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
