:Please restore this information or at least explain am a fan of your work keep up the good work Sha19999 (talk) 16:27, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
::asalam alaykum brother, i see what you are saying but let me explain.
::you see most isaaqs were against the dervishes, and haji sudi did find it true but the Isaaq sultanate itself and most Habar yoonis were against the dervishes due to their raids on the isaaqs.
::Isaaqs weren’t as involved in this movement and actually fought against it *see the wiki page of Haji Mohamed Bulaleh*, the movement was founded and led by isaaqs but most isaaqs later defected.
::I apologize for the misunderstanding but i am not denying isaaq involvement, but i am saying that the dervishes especially later on started being aggressive towards the isaaqs *they attacked Berbera and Burao* Samyatilius (talk) 12:27, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
:::Wa alaikum salam brother
:::you do realize the dervish revolt went on for 23 years or somethings and the isaaqs were the ones who started it as a religous resistence to forced conversions by colonisers
:::haji warabe come about like 19 years later by then the isaaqs left the movement at the end of the first world war becouse the ottomans were ousted and the lost legitymacy among scholars of the time
:::the dervishes that went to burce and berbera were themselves isaaq they also destroyed las khorey with ibrahim bobil leading it.
:::bro respect the first isaaq darawiish at least walało
:::much love keep spreding our history i do all somali history not just somaliland even though its my country i still love my muslim neighbours
:::have a look at what i did with Ajuran walal
:::also i am hy Sha19999 (talk) 13:28, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
::::you have a point but ishaaqs still largely opposed the movement, it was mostly a few nomads and sultan nur himself even stopped taking part in the movement after he and the sayyid had a fight over the raiding of innocent tribes.
::::plus my page is mostly about the ishaq british wars and since the dervishes were multi clan *sayyid being ogaden, haji sudi being isaaq, ismail mire being dhulbahante* it won't really fit in well.
::::again it doesn't really matter but i still want to keep solely wars between the brits and ishaqis Samyatilius (talk) 12:15, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
:::::Then i say brother go ahead keep it like that its better we work together am conceding for the best. But maybe you could include some of the early victories against the british done by haji sudi and sultan nuh so you can include it if you want the early engagmentsmants even some of ibrahim boghul battles in which he won a battle against the British but it’s up to you but you can drop the rest ofbthe dervish and include just isaaq ones but i will leave it to you

30px|alt=Control copyright icon ↗ Hello Samyatilius! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright ↗ and plagiarism ↗ issues. Here are the key points:
- '''Limited quotation:''' You may only copy or translate a ''small'' portion of a source. Any direct quotations ↗ must be enclosed in double quotation mark ↗s (") and properly cited using an inline citation ↗. More information is available on the non-free content page ↗. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners ↗.
- '''Paraphrasing:''' Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information ''in your own words''. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues ↗ and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing ↗. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources ↗ as appropriate.
- '''Image use guidelines:''' In most scenarios, only freely licensed ↗ or public domain ↗ images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons ↗. - '''Copyrighted material donation:''' If ''you'' hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you ''may'' be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials ↗.
- '''Copying and translation within Wikipedia:''' Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia ↗. For translation, see {{section link|Help:Translation|Licensing}}.

Introduction to contentious topics
{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to ''' the Horn of Africa ↗ (defined as including Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and adjoining areas if involved in related disputes)''', a topic designated as '''''contentious ↗'''''. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and <em>does <strong>not</strong> imply that there are any issues with your editing</em>.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee ↗. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators ↗ have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit <strong>carefully and constructively</strong>, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia ↗;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines ↗;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system ↗.
<p>Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics <em>procedures</em>, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard ↗ or you may learn more about this contentious topic ↗. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{tl|Ctopics/aware}} template. </p>}}<!-- Derived from Template:Contentious topics/alert/first --> <span style="text-shadow:#000 0em 0em 1em">☿ <span style="color:#6a0dad">Apaugasma</span> (<span style="color:#000">talk</span> ☉ ↗)</span> 12:40, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
:I have cited a both a primary and secondary scholarly source by I.M Lewis (Blood and Bone: The Call of Kinship in Somali Society), Christopher Ehret and Abdullahi, Mohamed Diriye in his work (Culture and Customs of Somalia) regarding the historicity of Sheikh Ishaaq, These sources clearly illustrate sheikh ishaaq to be an early arab scholar who lived on the Somali coast, and later got transformed into the symbolic ancestral forefather of the Isaaq tribes, Hence I don’t understand why the edit was reverted. Secondly Maydh in currently under the Authority of Somaliland, It doesn’t seem fit to label it under “Somalia”. Samyatilius (talk) 13:08, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
Reliable sources on Wikipedia
Please review Wikipedia:Reliable sources#Some types of sources ↗. I will quote here the first part about wp:scholarship ↗, which is especially relevant.
{{quote|Many Wikipedia articles rely on scholarly material. When available, academic and peer-reviewed publications, scholarly monographs, and textbooks are usually the most reliable sources. However, some scholarly material may be outdated, in competition with alternative theories, controversial within the relevant field, or largely ignored by the mainstream academic discourse. Try to cite current scholarly consensus when available, recognizing that this is often absent. Reliable non-academic sources may also be used in articles about scholarly issues, particularly material from high-quality mainstream publications. Deciding which sources are appropriate depends on context. Material should be attributed in-text ↗ where sources disagree ↗.
{{shortcut|WP:SCHOLARSHIP}}
- '''Prefer secondary sources''' – Articles should rely on secondary source ↗s whenever possible. For example, a paper reviewing existing research, a review article, monograph, or textbook is often better than a primary research paper. When relying on primary sources, extreme caution is advised. Wikipedians should never interpret the content of primary sources for themselves ({{crossref|see Wikipedia:No original research ↗ and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view ↗}}).
- '''Reliable scholarship''' – Material such as an article, book, monograph, or research paper that has been vetted by the scholarly community is regarded as reliable, where the material has been published in reputable peer-reviewed sources or by well-regarded academic presses.}}

::You cannot use the primary sources here, because that would constitute wp:original research ↗. As for the secondary sources, either you did not consult them, or you did not understand them. Please read the quotes from scholars provided after the expression "semi-legendary figure" in the current lead ↗. Some scholars' views are described in more detail in the Biography section.
::There is a diversity of opinion, with scholars like Lewis and Loimeier seeing him as entirely mythical and his ancestry as Arabicized rather than Arab, scholars like Ehret and Diriye thinking that he did exist but that almost everything we know about him including his genealogy is legendary, and Aydarus the only scholar believing the account about him to be historical.
::Therefore, changing "semi-legendary" to "prominent" and erasing any mention of myth, like you did here ↗, is an unacceptable form of pushing your own point of view over the views of reliable sources. If you continue to ignore the wp:npov policy ↗ like that in the future, you may be blocked from editing ↗.
