Looks like there was an error at Special:Diff/1059912343 ↗, do you have any memory of what steps you took so that I can track the bug down faster? <span style="white-space: nowrap;">— Wug·a·po·des</span> 23:08, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
:Redirect creation does not seem to work at all with Capricorn since a couple months ago. I had pinged you about the menu on a nonexistent page (in view mode) no longer appearing multiple times on Discord. The option from the edit window never worked for me (from any device) since I started using Capricorn about two years ago; looks like this was one of the possible outcomes for me when trying to use that. <span style="display:inline-block;text-align:center;vertical-align:bottom;line-height:0.5em;">~~<nowiki/>~~<br/><span style="font-size:0.7em;">User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk)</span></span> 23:22, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
::I've seen, but in all those months I haven't been able to reproduce the problem. I've just tested the page multiple times in my userspace and never had an error, so if I'm going to fix it I need more information on what's not working because I cannot fix what I can't reproduce. How have you gotten to these pages? What did you press in order to create the redirect? What browsers and versions have you tried? What skin do you use? <span style="white-space: nowrap;">— Wug·a·po·des</span> 01:00, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
:::@Wugapodes, there used to be a "Create redirect from this title" dialogue in Capricorn on a nonexistent page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_kind_of_page). This apparently disappeared around 2021, and I was trying to ask you why. I was mostly creating redirects manually since then, though I recently learnt about User:Eejit43/scripts/redirect-helper.js, which seems to suit me better since it emphasises typing over looking and clicking in the rcat menu.{{pb}}That said, when I pinged you in that edit, a similar redirection dialogue would at least appear in the edit window (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=This_kind_of_page&action=edit){{snd}}which, unlike the other one, was supposed to allow a manual edit of the source before saving{{snd}}though apparently (AFAICS) it has since disappeared as well. 1234qwer1234qwer4 ↗ 12:00, 4 October 2024 (UTC)

Request a Page Move
Hello, I need your expertise as a page mover. Could you please move Kisii ↗ to Kisii (disambiguation) ↗ without leaving a redirect. This will allow me to move the Kisii, Kenya ↗. Kisii is a town that all other places, people are named after. Additionally, most names of major towns and cities in Kenya are used to name the Counties or districts they reside in but those are never referred without the additional 'County' or 'District'. For instance, Nairobi ↗ and Nairobi County ↗, Nakuru ↗ and Nakuru County ↗, Mombasa ↗ and Mombasa County ↗, Kisumu ↗ and Kisumu County ↗, etc.
Thank you in advance. <span style="white-space:nowrap;text-shadow:#F8F8FF 0em 0em 0.8em,#FF4500 -0.3em -0.3em 0.9em,#90EE90 0.3em 0.3em 0.8em;color:#696969">''' Tylusine''' : ''talk 2 me''</span> 14:28, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
::After a careful consideration, I am shelving that idea for now. Since there are places such as Embu, Kenya ↗ and Meru, Kenya ↗ with the same issue as Kisii, Kenya ↗. I will do more research then ask you if need be. Thank you for your time.<span style="white-space:nowrap;text-shadow:#F8F8FF 0em 0em 0.8em,#FF4500 -0.3em -0.3em 0.9em,#90EE90 0.3em 0.3em 0.8em;color:#696969">''' Tylusine''' : ''talk 2 me''</span> 14:50, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

Why are you changing all the rcats?
I just want to know why all the redirects I made yesterday are being changed. Example: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Zoe_Katrina_Knox&diff=1243796704&oldid=1242119440 ↗. <span style="color:darkorchid">Clovermoss</span><span style="color:green">🍀</span> (talk) 14:02, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
:I just applied the more specific tags. {{cl|Redirects from long names}} is a subcategory of {{cl|Redirects from alternative names}}, etc. 1234qwer1234qwer4 ↗ 14:04, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
::Okay. I did not realize that it was a subcategory. When should I actually be using r from alt name then? <span style="color:darkorchid">Clovermoss</span><span style="color:green">🍀</span> (talk) 14:08, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
:::Well, generally when it doesn't fit into one of the subcategories... of which there are quite many, but the most common ones are probably {{cl|Redirects from long names}}, {{cl|Redirects from short names}}, {{cl|Redirects from former names}} and {{cl|Redirects from synonyms}}. Though apparently there is also {{cl|Redirects from married names}}, which I only just learnt about, and which would presumably be applicable to a lot of person redirects. <small>(But honestly, the rcat system is quite extensive and having any tag at all is probably already better than average.)</small> 1234qwer1234qwer4 ↗ 14:13, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
::::(I also just added {{cl|Redirects from modifications}} and {{cl|Redirects from alternative spellings}} to the alternative names category, so unless somebody decides to revert that change, I guess they are also commonly used subcategories now.) 1234qwer1234qwer4 ↗ 14:24, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
SLGT ↗ moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, SLGT ↗, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable ↗, independent sources ↗. <small>(? ↗)</small> Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability ↗ is of central importance ↗ on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace ↗ (with a prefix of "<code>Draft:</code>" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline ↗ and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Redirects gone amok
Hello, 1234qwer1234qwer4,
I've been spending some away from AFD and at RFD, closing discussions. I've noticed that you nominate a lot of redirects for deletion consideration. I was hoping to get your opinion on these 26 redirects to a relatively nonnotable subject, Anthony Walsh (author) ↗ (see Special:WhatLinksHere/Anthony Walsh (author) ↗. They were created by an editor who likes to write about political candidates who support cannabis but I think he overdid it with this fellow. Would you consider nominating the more ridiculous ones for deletion consideration? Of course, if you did, I wouldn't close those discussions. Thank you for considering this request. <span style="font-family:Papyrus; color:#800080;">'''''L'''''iz</span> '''''Read!''''' ↗ '''''Talk!''''' 03:24, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research
Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this '''anonymous survey ↗'''.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page ↗ and view its privacy statement ↗ .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind Regards,
WMF Research Team ↗

Seeking advice on how to request a naming convention
Hello, and thank you for your guidance in the request for discussion ↗ regarding appropriate venue for discussing a Nantes University ↗ redirect. I'd like to solicit your advice on a related question: how to request official guidelines for naming articles about universities.
There are several possible naming conventions for university articles. For example: "University of Nantes", "Nantes University", "Université de Nantes" or "Nantes Université". The current guidance seems contradictory: one approach suggests using the most common name in English-language sources, which would be "Université de Nantes", while another suggests following the pattern established by well-known universities, where "Sorbonne University" would suggest "Nantes University" as the appropriate format.
I've observed that the predominant practice on English Wikipedia is to use the English descriptor "University" in article titles about universities that have names in other languages, but this convention isn't officially documented anywhere. I also cannot find specific guidance on when exceptions might be appropriate.
My question is: would it be best to simply create an article at Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(universities) ↗, or is there another way to go about this? MyPOV (talk) 07:48, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello there, administrator! I have been recently unblocked ↗ in English Wikipedia and would like to be unblocked from Wikipedia Commons as well. I have been blocked ↗ by Daphne Lantier ↗ for abusing multiple accounts. I understand the offense of sockpuppetry but please do believe me that I have no recollection of having another account in both English and Commons. I understand that sockpuppetry is a behavior that cannot be condoned in Wikipedia and Commons and pledge to never do such a thing. I hope you understand that I want to continue contributing both in English Wikipedia and Commons. Thank you very much! Shana Shana (talk) 04:59, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
:@Shana Shana, you can now request an unblock on your talk page there. 1234qwer1234qwer4 ↗ 17:46, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

Can you use slightly more descriptive edit summaries?
Thanks for adding the author links to mathematical historians. When you go through a few dozen pages back to back and add the same author link to every one, would you mind adding the name of the person you are author-linking to your edit summary, instead of just writing "link"? Maybe something like "citation author link: John Doe". Also, if you could mark these as "minor edits" that would be great. –jacobolus ↗ (t) ↗ 16:21, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
:I can surely adjust the edit summary (though sooner or later I am going to forget updating it when switching to the next author). The reason why I was not flagging them as minor is that I make the edits manually, and at a larger scale it feels like I will inevitably miss something, like adding the parameter to the wrong author (I've caught such a mistake in my own edits a few times already), and for minor edits the likelihood that this would get spotted quickly would be lower. 1234qwer1234qwer4 ↗ 19:13, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
::I think you should mark edits that just add a wikilink or two as minor even if you think there might be a mistake. Help:Minor edit ↗ explicitly lists "Adding or correcting wikilinks" as something to mark as minor.
::Anyway, thanks! –jacobolus ↗ (t) ↗ 20:51, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
::If you don't want to include the author name(s), you could also use an edit summary like "wikilink author(s) in citation template(s)" (or you can probably make up a more elegant phrasing). –jacobolus ↗ (t) ↗ 20:53, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
:::I'd prefer to include the author name probably; that would be more accurate since it's only in citation templates in maybe 95 % of the cases :-). 1234qwer1234qwer4 ↗ 20:54, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
::::Thanks for all of the author links, by the way. Those are great! –jacobolus ↗ (t) ↗ 22:56, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
:::::Thanks! There's way more to do there than I thought... 1234qwer1234qwer4 ↗ 22:59, 5 May 2026 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to :-maxxing ↗. When you were adding content to the page, you added duplicate arguments ↗ to a template which can cause issues with how the template is rendered. In the future, please use the preview ↗ button before you save your edit; this helps you find these errors as they will display in yellow at the top of the page. Thanks.<!---Template:Uw-dupargs---> '''<span style="color:#00d5ff !important">Zack</span><span style="color:#007F94 !important">mann</span>''' (Talk to me ↗/<span style="color:orange !important">What I been doing</span> ↗) 17:54, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
:Thanks for appreciating the manual work required to add author link parameters in templates that are formatted differently in each article. I'm sure your workflow of applying bot-like cosmetic edits to thousands of pages is too busy to simply fix one slip-up of mine, so I'm glad you took the time to undo my edit and place a template on my talk page. 1234qwer1234qwer4 ↗ 18:13, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
::Seriously? I took the time to notify you of a mistake that you made and rather than appreciating that you get all butt hurt? Says MUCH more about you than about me... Keep up the absolutely stellar work. We all bow down to your prowess. please fix your script
At this edit ↗ and this edit ↗, your script broke the {{tlx|cite web}} templates that it edited because it added {{para|work}} to templates that already had {{para|website}}. cs1|2 templates do not support multiple simultaneous {{para|work}} alias parameters. The {{para|work}} alias parameters are:
:{{para|journal}}, {{para|magazine}}, {{para|newspaper}}, {{para|periodical}}, {{para|website}}, {{para|work}}
—Trappist the monk (talk) 00:24, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
:I noticed this subsequently (but did not bother fixing it since it was only two pages and I know there are people watching the maintenance categories), and I am done with the task so there is no "script" to fix anymore. Thanks for correcting the ref errors; however, I do not think it is fair to say that I "broke" them since on the latter page, <code>|website=7 July 2025</code> was passed as a template parameter (before my edit), which should be an error on its own (<code>insource:/website *= *[0-3]?[0-9] (January|February|March|April|May|June|July|August|September|October|November|December) [1-2][0-9]{3}/</code> times out but returns at least 40 results), while on the former page, the redundancy already existed before my edit but did not trigger the error because the website had been incorrectly entered into the "publisher" field. 1234qwer1234qwer4 ↗ 13:09, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
