I think the Sanford debate will never end, lol. I have 3 sources that are still discussing Mark Sanford in conjunction to 2012 that are less than 6 months old, but JerzeyKydd is still insisting that discussion for him has ceased for 6 months. The sources I added are less than 6 months. I agreed to take down Ensign because no one is talking him in conjunction 2012, but why are people still talking about Sanford in conjunction 2012? I was wondering if maybe you wanted to add your feedback to this discussion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Republican_Party_(United_States)_presidential_primaries,_2012. Thanks. --Diamond Dave (talk) 22:14, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Debate over whether or not Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford should be removed the 2012 Rep Primary Page

There seems to be yet another debate over Mark Sanford and now whether not Bobby Jindal should remain on this page. Since you are an editor on this page, I was hoping you would be interested in joining the discussion at the link below.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Republican_Party_(United_States)_presidential_primaries,_2012#This_article_is_not_about_who_will_be_running.3F

Please provide your feedback! Thanks so much!

Hi. In Lord Chief Justice of Ireland ↗, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page John Denham ↗ (check to confirm ↗&nbsp;|&nbsp;fix with Dab solver ↗). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. <small>Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.</small>

Help with Election of 1788

Hello there. I was editing the Election of 1788-89 article recently, and I noticed that there are some pieces of information that I can literally not find. However, I was able to pinpoint which resource I needed. In The Documentary History of the First Federal Elections, 1788-1790, Volume 2 (pg. 306-308), it has some information I need for Virginia's popular vote that year. It would be wonderful if you had access to that text and were willing to pass the information on to me. I assume you have access because when I did a google search for this information, yur Wikipedia subpage popped up. It would be a great help and I could finally move on to some other project. Thank you. I would of just bought the book itself, but it seems to a reference book of some sort and therfore is out of my pricerange. Themane2 (talk) 20:25, 20 June 2014 (UTC)<br />

Thank you so much! I was able to get the information I needed. My work on the election of 1788-89 is now complete. Thanks again. Themane2 (talk) 20:13, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi Alekksandr. I've used "Past" in front of Reckless' office, feel free to change it to "Ex" or similar if you prefer. You could comment out the whole line, but then the infobox looks a little silly (I tried in preview). One thing we can't do is leave the claim, he is not the MP for Rochester & Strood at the moment. Lulu imprint

Hi, I noticed that the source (Richard Landwehr, ''Britisches Freikorps'') discussed in List of members of the British Free Corps ↗ is published by Lulu, which is a self-publishing imprint and the book therefore is considered "potentially unreliable." British Free Corps

I'm copyediting 11th SS Volunteer Panzergrenadier Division Nordland ↗, and I came across the below statement sourced to the BBC article; upon quick scanning I don't see references to BFC participating in the fighting. Since you appear to have expert knowledge on the subject, could you review and let me know if the below should stay?

East Prussia and Pomerania

In early February 1945, the refitted ''Panzer'' Battalion returned to the division along with other reinforcements. Among these was the platoon-sized British Free Corps ↗, a British Waffen-SS unit.<ref>{{cite news|title= My father the war traitor|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/1898942.stm | work=BBC News | date=29 March 2002 | accessdate=15 October 2008}}</ref>
On 16 February, the division was participated in Operation Sonnenwende ↗, the plan to destroy a Soviet salient and to relieve the troops encircled in the town of Arnswalde. Initially, ''Nordland's'' attack achieved a tactical surprise and the division soon advanced to the banks of Lake Ihna. However, the Soviet forces offered stiff resistance and the advance began to slow. On 17 February, the division reached Arnswalde and relieved the garrison.

: 1. There are a large number of articles on wikipedia using the phrase "IRA member" - including high-profile figures such as Dolours Price ↗ and Carál Ní Chuilín ↗, which describe them as such in the first sentence. Irish Republican Army ↗ uses the phrase "IRA member" in relation to Brendan Behan, and only uses the term 'Volunteer' in relation to the WW1-era Irish Volunteers. It appears from this that there is no consistent policy that the term 'volunteer' should be used as opposed to 'member'.
: 2. Volunteer (Irish republican) ↗ gives information about how members of republican organisations self-describe/how those organisations describe their members. I suggest that this should not determine how Wikipedia describes them.
: 3. For completeness, I should point out that I made similar edits in respect of members of loyalist paramilitary organsations who were described on wikipedia as 'Volunteer'. Alekksandr (talk) 19:22, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Derry vs Londonderry

The subject of Derry vs Londonderry is a bit of a can of worms. However it was Derry city that is located county Derry. This is until the English came in to Ireland and conducted unspoken horrors on the Irish. . . You can say thay were only following orders. And the history of Derry city & Derry county is only a fraction of it.
:1. Wikipedia's policy on dealing with the 'can of worms' is set out at Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Ireland-related_articles#Derry/Londonderry ↗ - "Use Derry for the city and County Londonderry for the county in articles."
:2. What became County Londonderry was previously County Coleraine - see County_Londonderry#County_Coleraine_and_the_Plantation_of_Ulster ↗ and parts of Counties Antrim, Donegal and Tyrone. Alekksandr (talk) 13:16, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

Earls of Rosse

You have maybe not unreasonably put two creations into one category

Attempting to making things clearer I may have messed up. Please tell me what you think should be done. Eddaido (talk) 12:45, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

:Thank you for your message. There are different ways of sorting these categories. My own view is that it is simplest to sort them by the Christian names/forenames of the holders. Otherwise it can get confusing when (as here) there are multiple creations of one title, or when the numbering is unclear. See e.g. :Category:Earls_or_mormaers_of_Mar ↗. Alekksandr (talk) 13:04, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

::Well, I don't agree that leaving them in alphabetical order functions well enough. I'll have another go later. In the meantime can you point to how the situation is handled aside from alpha in other cases? Thanks, Eddaido (talk) 13:07, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

:::The sub-categories at Category:Earls in the Peerage of Ireland are examples of how sorting is handled in other cases. Alekksandr (talk) 13:23, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

::::I've sorted it out, I think better. I realise I may have used the English way of doing it and you are currently completing Ireland? with a different system. If you can't tolerate my latest edits just adjust them to suit yourself. Eddaido (talk) 14:04, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion ↗ nomination of :Category:Barons De la Warr ↗

A tag has been placed on :Category:Barons De la Warr ↗ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on :James Johnston Shaw ↗ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement ↗. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://archive.org/stream/dictionaryofnati23lees/dictionaryofnati23lees_djvu.txt<nowiki> </nowiki>and http://www.archive.org/stream/dictionaryofnati23lees/dictionaryofnati23lees_djvu.txt. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of ''information'', but not as a source of ''sentences''. This part is crucial: ''say it in your own words''. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators '''will be blocked from editing ↗'''.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you ''must'' verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials ↗. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission ↗ for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy ↗ for more details, or ask a question here ↗.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by visiting the page ↗ and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay.
