Disambiguation link notification for March 25
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Benito Mussolini ↗, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fascist Italy ↗<!-- ([//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dablinks.py/Benito_Mussolini check to confirm] | [//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dab_solver.py/Benito_Mussolini?client=notify fix with Dab solver])-->. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. <small>(Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)</small>
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:06, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Edit summary
25px|alt=Information icon|link= ↗ Hello. Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia ↗.
{{The edit-summary field|new=y}}
You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief ↗.
'''Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make.''' With a Wikipedia account ↗ you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting {{myprefs|3|check=Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary}}.

Hello, please do not add categories to pages where there is not an overwhelming consensus that they apply, like you did to several articles such as Christopher Columbus ↗; see the relevant guideline ↗. Washington's Genocide of Iroquois
I agree with your comments in the George Washington article.
On 2022 February 12 I tried to highlight the genocide of the Sullivan expedition. It was reverted 2022 February 17 on grounds there was only one source. if you know of other sources, I'd appreciate knowing them.
I have also tried to reduce the hagiography in the article about Andrew Jackson but met resistance. His attitude to the south-eastern tribes was just as bad.

Please don't wp:OVERLINK ↗. Most people know what a church, a hotel, and a village are. Someone reading the article is unlikely to need to find further info on those items. Please stop. Thank you Adakiko (talk) 03:04, 12 August 2022 (UTC)

TOAE
I merged the TOAE article (which was titled "Toarcian Turnover" https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Toarcian_turnover&oldid=992934963 ↗) into the Jurassic article nearly 2 years ago as it had very little content. If you're interested in writing about the TOAE it may be advisable to recreate the article (ideally under a different title, like Toarcian Oceanic Anoxic Event) and expand that, as the main Jurassic article should ideally only be a high-level summary, while an article dedicated to the topic could go more in depth. It looks like you just added a bunch of articles, most of which you have not significantly edited (looked at a couple and it looks like you added a few links, did some cleanup, added a statement, etc.). Requests for assessment is usually for articles people don't want to rate themselves because they wrote them, or because they are unsure. If you believe an article deserves a higher rating based on the descriptions and did not significantly edit it (or even if you did), you can just set it to the higher rating. If you are unsure about some articles, I think it would be better to ask for a few 2nd opinions and then use that information to rate the rest. The description on the Requests for Assessment page says "If you have made significant changes to an article and would like an outside opinion on a new rating for it, please feel free to list it below." -- this isn't really what it's intended for, and it makes it less likely that the pages people have difficulty rating themselves will get second opinions.
I'm going to remove them per it not really being the point of the whole thing but feel free to add any back if you did write a significant portion of them or are unsure about the rating. Mrfoogles (talk) 23:11, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
:@Anteosaurus magnificus please stop adding so many articles to the "Requested assessments". It's filling up the whole thing, and given there are so many and so few people who are active there few of them are going to get reviewed anyway. It's probably better to just rate the articles yourself if there are so many; there are not enough people reviewing articles are Requested assessments to review them all. Maybe just add the few you edited the most/are unsure about? Mrfoogles (talk) 20:28, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

Minimum taxobox parameters
Hi, if you look at [//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Boritia&oldid=1256047225 this old version of ''Boritia''] that you created, you'll see that although the taxobox shows the genus, which it picks up from the page title by default, the page title is not italicized. Full functionality of species boxes requires the genus to be explicitly specified, in this case either by a combination of {{para|genus|Boritia}} and {{para|species|duffaudi}} or by {{para|taxon|Boritia duffaudi}}. So when I added {{para|species|duffaudi}}, the title was correctly italicized at ''Boritia ↗''. Keep up the good work! Peter coxhead (talk) 10:22, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Please create taxonomy templates
Hi, when you create articles like ''Ningchengodon ↗'', it's your responsibility to create the taxonomy template that will make the taxobox work, and not leave the article with a broken taxobox. Click on the "fix" link in the taxobox, and a partial taxonomy template will be created. As a minimum you need to add a rank and the parent taxon. Ideally also add a citation – use the reference you put in the article without the ref tags. It's really not difficult. Please don't leave articles for others to clean up in this way. Peter coxhead (talk) 19:38, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
Extinct
Hi. When you create a taxonomy template for a taxon that is extinct, please mark it with <code>|extinct=yes</code>. See my correction to a template you created here ↗ as an example. Thanks. YorkshireExpat (talk) 17:11, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
Paleospecies in extant genera
Hi there. I have just redirected a bunch of paleospecies stubs you created (7 larks, a sitella and a murre) to their respective genus articles. Please be aware of that there is a pretty firm consensus ↗ in the Paleo project that there is no benefit in having standalone stubs for paleospecies without exceptional coverage, as there is precious little chance that they will ever be substantially expanded (this is in contrast to how extant species are treated). These should instead be covered at the genus level. It especially applies to paleospecies in ''extant'' genera, where the genus article is generally much more informative than that stub could ever be. - Accordingly, I have also removed the speculative redlinks in paleospecies lists in a couple of these genus articles, as they are not going to be blued following our current approach.
I'm sorry to negate your work of creating these stubs, but I suggest that in future you do not engage in making these, as it's going to be a bit of a waste of effort. Cheers --<span style="font-family:Courier">Elmidae</span> <small>(talk · contribs ↗)</small> 19:05, 1 February 2025 (UTC)

Hi there!
Hi! Thank you so much for all the pages of more obscure prehistoric vertebrates that you have recently created. It's a really big help. Just some suggestions for extra information to add, though these aren't completely necessary. Just to increase the connectedness between pages and populate some underused categories.
- I would recommend mentioning the specific geologic formation of the animal, but I know that's not always easily available.
- I'd also recommend citing at least two sources on each page (generally PaleoBioDB should have an entry, and otherwise there should hopefully be a findable paper/book on Google Scholar/Books that mentions it), since it's preferred for an article to have more than one source.
- I'd recommend adding a category for the country ("Fossils of [Country]") that the taxon was found in.
- Optional but I'd recommend putting each genus/species in the category for its geological age (i.e. "Ypresian genera", "Aquitanian life").
A brownie for you!

:{{Re|SunloungerFrog}} I do not have the exact page for the description, as I simply copied and pasted the Palaeontologia Sinica reference from the page 2016 in mammal paleontology ↗ into the page ''Tamiops minor ↗'' as I was creating the latter, and as of right now, I do not currently have access to the pages of that source from my home computer. That said, I could someday try to see if I could access it from a computer in a library that would have access to these sorts of paywalled and difficult-to-access sources online. New page creations and formatting
Hello, I've noticed that you have created the Wikipedia pages for many extinct taxa. Your efforts are appreciated but there are several aspects of your approach that need to change for optimal clarity on Wikipedia, and to prevent causing extra work for other editors. Your pages are created by plugging basic information into a consistent 'template'. There's nothing wrong with this—that's how I do it, too—but the 'template' you use is problematic.
- First off, the first sentence lacks a citation. This is appropriate only when this content is cited elsewhere in the article body. Since your articles are stubs and the content is not repeated, the information needs to be cited in the first sentence.
- All taxon pages need a short description. Your page creations lack this, requiring other editors to add it. A short description can be added by using this template (with modifications as applicable) at the top of the page: <nowiki>{{Short description|Extinct genus of CLADE}}</nowiki>
- The correct abbreviation of the Latin ''et alii'' is "et al.", not "et. al."
- Many of your pages would read to the typical layman as if the creator (you) is entirely unfamiliar with the subject they are writing on. Looking at one of your recent creations, '':Consoravis ↗'', which begins "''Consoravis'' is an extinct genus of morsoravid that inhabited..." Nowhere in the main article text do you state one of the most fundamental pieces of information that a layman reader needs to know: that ''Consoravis'' is a bird. Some other recent examples:
- * '':Kanodus ↗'' describes the genus as belonging to the :Cochliodontiformes ↗ but does not say it is a cartilaginous fish (should at least say holocephalan).
- * '':Paratethyphoca ↗'' describes the genus as a "phocine phocid", which will mean nothing to almost everyone. Phocidae is the scientific name for the earless (or true) seals. This is a much more familiar term that should be used instead.
- * '':Madanycteris ↗'' describes the genus as a "chiropteran". Again, this is technically correct but unnecessarily confusing when you could just as easily say that ''Madanycteris'' is an extinct bat.
- Your pages incorporate a single-sentence lead followed by a single sentence under a separate "Distribution" section. "Distribution" is entirely meaningless in the context of fossil taxa as this can not really be determined, especially as most are known from a single specimen in a single locality. These two sentences can easily be combined to a single sentence. I would advise adding a following sentence (when applicable, and to be modified when not) stating the type species and known material. Please refer to this '''{{oldid|Mirasaura|1302132002|old revision of the page ''Mirasaura''}}''' for an example of a page I recently created that demonstrates the proper consensus-established formatting for the minimum 'necessary' content for taxon pages. I would encourage you to use this general layout as a reference for your future creations.
- Linking the common term "known" to :Knowledge ↗ is unnecessary (see here ↗).
:It seems you have entirely ignored the concerns raised above. These are not polite suggestions, but serious requests, as cleaning up from your editing behavior is causing additional unnecessary work for other editors. I will also ask that if you make requests at WP:TREEREQ ↗, please only ask for parts of the tree(s) that will be constructive to the page they will be added to. I just removed significant portions of the cladograms added to ''Massetognathus ↗'' and ''Shamosuchus ↗'' because there was no benefit to including every one of those taxa. Asking for the full tree is an unreasonable amount of work for other editors if it is not going to be put to good use. Not to mention, the tree requested for the latter is dated by more than 15 years, and does not accurately portray the current understanding of this animal's affinities. There are abundant options that are more up-to-date (e.g., https://doi.org/10.1080%2F02724634.2025.2542185 ↗) and would be more constructive for the page. -SlvrHwk (talk) 17:35, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
::@SlvrHwk I have not ignored the requests raised above; I have been adding more lay descriptions (i.e. "''Storchipedetes'' is an extinct genus of pedetid rodent", highlighting both the taxonomic family but also a broader clade like Rodentia that a general reader is likely to be familiar with) of the taxa I create new pages for, and I usually remember to add the descriptions (I forgot to do so for the past couple I made, apologies for that, but many of the others I made recently do have the short description and I've just added the wikitext for the short description into the general template I usually use for creating new pages so I don't forget it again). I have not made the error of punctuating et in "et al." in a while either.
::Also, I have been told elsewhere that a Wikipedia page's introduction should not have citations in it and that references should only be in the main body of the text. Given that I usually just put the information about the time period and region the animal lived in and what its classification is, which are already given in the taxobox and the brief "Distribution" section where I state the site/geologic layer the animal is from, would the information in the introduction not already be covered by those parts of the page? Anteosaurus magnificus (talk) 17:57, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
:::I apologize for making some unfair accusations, and I appreciate your efforts to address the previous ones. Still, ''Afrolagus ↗'' uses "leporid ↗" without mention of rabbits/hares, and "Distribution" is still being widely implemented, despite the aforementioned meaninglessness of this term for extinct species known from a single specimen or locality. Distribution sections should almost always be reserved for extant taxa for which this data is available.<br/>Regarding citations in the lead section (opening paragraph), please refer to MOS:LEADCITE ↗. There is nothing wrong with citations in the lead, especially in short articles. When the lead is only a summary of the rest of a larger page's content, it doesn't need citations since the content is cited in the main body. But in instances of short pages like yours where the lead contains content not mentioned or cited elsewhere, it certainly needs a citation. Hope this helps. -SlvrHwk (talk) 20:39, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
Half-assed editing
I am consistently annoyed by your half-assed edits to prehistoric animal articles. When you added a list of countries that ''P. gombaszogensis'' supposedly lived in, you obviously did not bother to do an even cursory literature review, and left most of the countries out. When I tried to correct this, I got edit conflicted by you adding a single country, it was present in (missing over half a dozen others), which meant I lost the correction. Can I ask you to leave the article alone, so that someone actually competent at writing encyclpedia articles (i.e. me) can fix it? Thanks. Hemiauchenia (talk) 22:36, 6 September 2025 (UTC)

April 2026
25px|alt=Information icon ↗ In your flurry of recent page creations, two of them (''Nyctodon ↗'', ''Nacholameryx ↗'') lack a properly-formatted speciesbox as the parent taxon itself is missing a taxonomy template. Also, please be conscientious of MOS:LINK ↗ (MOS:SOB ↗, MOS:OL ↗, etc.). I feel this should go without saying, but please put more care and attention into the pages you create. A poorly-constructed three-sentence stub page has little value to a reader who actually wants to learn something about the taxon in question, and, given your edit history, I know you are clearly capable of more helpful contributions. -SlvrHwk (talk) 04:52, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hi SlvrHwk,
:The taxobox for some pages appears broken even after I create the taxobox for the higher level taxonomic category that did not have it previously. For example, in my ''Dynamognathus ↗'' page, I created the taxobox for ''Dynamognathus'' and also for the tribe Desmognathini, and after I made the taxobox for the tribe Desmognathini, the taxobox appeared clean and unbroken in the preview before I saved the taxobox for Desmognathini, as the peview showed there was already a taxobox for the next highest taxon, that being Plethodontinae. But when I visit the page of ''Dynamognathus'', it still appears broken. Does it just take a while for these taxoboxes to update? Anteosaurus magnificus (talk) 19:03, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
::If you save an edit to an article within a couple of seconds of creating a taxonomy template for it, the template may not be recognized. But that definitely shouldn't take even as long as 10 seconds after creating the template. However, if that does happen, the taxobox in the article may be broken for hours; you can fix it by making a null edit a few seconds later. Plantdrew (talk) 20:13, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
