Thanks for adding language tags to {{lang|ja-Latn|Emakimono ↗|italic=no}}!

Hiya - just thought I'd pop in to say thank you for adding language tags to {{lang|ja-Latn|Emakimono ↗|italic=no}}! I have just a few notes - some Japanese words, like kanji, don't require a language tag, as they've been heavily integrated into the English language, to the point where pretty much all screenreaders are able to pronounce them correctly. Other words do require a language tag - but, if they're a place name, or a person's name, they don't need italicising; to do this, you write the language tag out as <nowiki>{{lang|ja-Latn|[blahblahblah]|italic=no}}</nowiki>. (I'm also not entirely sure how language tags interact with the <nowiki>{{ill</nowiki> template - but they seem to display just fine on your edit, so I don't think that's a problem.) Once again - thank you for adding them! (It proves it's not just me doing it, lmao) --Ineffablebookkeeper (talk) 12:47, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

inneresting

The West today indicates the rig named ''Maersk Deliverer''- (page 57 5th Feb The West)

while unless I have misread the website - it indicates nothing about such an item - https://www.maersksupplyservice.com/fleet/

any thoughts on that? (misreading very easy mind you...) JarrahTree 05:56, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for that (my misreading again - Friday - at 4 hours countdown for one thing and 196 hours for the other) - the west story today is enigmatic as is the inpex wikipedia article - clearly more to the story than meets the eye JarrahTree 06:18, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

I see you created Bishop of Newcastle, Australia ↗, Bishop of Newcastle (New South Wales) ↗, AND Bishop of Newcastle, Australia ↗. There was no need for that. Two of them can redirect to the third. <b>St</b>Anselm ↗ (talk) 19:30, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

Bishop of North Queensland

I wanted to let you know that I have converted Bishop of North Queensland ↗ to a disambiguation page, as it has been several days since I closed the RM at Talk:Anglican Bishop of North Queensland ↗ with no action to create dab page. I've included Roman Catholic Bishop of Townsville ↗ and Roman Catholic Bishop of Cairns ↗; I'm not sure if there were any other titles you wanted to include. There are also some incoming links that need to be disambiguated if you want to clean those up. – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 16:30, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

RFC: Are Australian state governors, heads of state?

I saw your post at the above RFC. The discussion and survey stage isn't over yet and you'd be welcome to add your voice to the Survey section too. Fearing you and others may have been misled by an involved editor adding a section just under that Survey section which he called "Summary and proposed solution", I've shuffled that bit down as its owns subsection of Discussion, so that's where your comment's sitting now. I hope you and our fellow contributors are happy with this. NebY (talk) 14:33, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Like NebY said, the RFC is still open. Feel free to post in the 'survey' section. GoodDay (talk) 18:59, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Bibliography

Regarding your edits on Mercedes 300 SL and SLR. A general bibliography is possible for "A general reference is a citation that supports content, but is not linked to any particular piece of material in the article through an inline citation. General references are usually listed at the end of the article in a References section. They are usually found in underdeveloped articles, especially when all article content is supported by a single source. They may also be listed in more developed articles as a supplement to inline citations."

Please also consider https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not#DIRECTORY
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Layout#Standard_appendices_and_footers
and
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Section_headings

These articles are not likely to get to GA status with one (of many) books on the cars being listed. The books you mention are older classics. I think that a Copy editor will come along and delete your books. What is the problem in putting them in line? I can do that if you don't have the books or do not have the time. --Akrasia25 (talk) 12:43, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

Guardian-class patrol boats

I noticed your edit on the Guardian-class patrol boat article. There is a great photo opportunity at Henderson right now as the Austal jetty is packed with two Guardian-class and two Cape-class patrol boats. I have just uploaded a few photos but have little opportunity to get there in the afternoon which is when you have taken your photos there and the sun is best. Well worth a visit if you got time right now and of great benefit to the relevant articles, if you ask me! Calistemon (talk) 11:49, 17 February 2022 (UTC)

Dili info

Hi Bahnfrend, I've noticed your creation of a number of Dili-related articles recently. The Dili ↗ article itself currently has unsourced statements about the former Market Hall and about the office of the Prime Minister, and perhaps there is room for a bit more refinement of that section as a whole, so if you have run into any relevant sources I would appreciate it if you could let me know. The other lacking section is Culture, so if you have run into any sources which touch upon the city's cultural life that could help the page. If those two sections are fixed, I think the article may reach GA with a copyedit. (Long term there's probably a need to split/trim History and Utilities to accommodate some expansion elsewhere, but that's not a pressing need.) Best, CMD (talk) 07:52, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
:Thanks for your message. I confirm that I've been creating and upgrading quite a few Dili-related articles recently. I also intend to create/upgrade several more in the near future (eg {{ill|Cape Fatucama|de|Kap Fatu Cama}}, {{ill|Centro Nacional Chega!|de}}, Comoro River ↗, National Stadium (East Timor) ↗, Ombai Strait ↗, Timorese Resistance Archive and Museum ↗).

:Additionally, I've recently created/upgraded some articles about the various East Timorese government ministers and ministries (eg Minister of Health (East Timor) ↗, Ministry of Justice (East Timor) ↗) (and will soon be doing some more work on that set of articles), but I haven't upgraded the Prime Minister of East Timor ↗ article just yet.

:I've also been aware for some time that the Dili article could do with some revision to improve/add links, improve/add references, etc, taking into account the substantial amount of content I've recently added to the more specialised articles. I just haven't got around to revising that article yet.

:A suitable time might be shortly after the new Tibar Bay Port ↗ is opened (I believe that that will be some time in the next couple of months or so), at which time I will update and upgrade both that article and the Port of Dili ↗ article and then be in a better position to work on the Dili article. I hope you don't mind waiting that long.

:I will also bear in mind your comments about culture, history and utilities. Bahnfrend (talk) 10:06, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
::At its current 48kb, the Dili article is about where it should be lengthwise, so detailed expansion will likely require the cutting back in other areas. I suppose history could simply be split off into History of Dili ↗, but I'm less sure how the utilities might be condensed. (Are there utility of city articles?) At a pinch there is always the simple option of deleting the unsourced building sentences (unsourced for years), but Culture is the more tricky aspect. When I wrote the current Dili article, I couldn't find too much on it from sources I considered high quality. CMD (talk) 10:44, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
::I see what you mean by links, if you're creating all these new articles. I just added the Tibar Bay Port link. Is it now expected to open in May 2022? When I wrote the Dili article last year it was April, so a month delay since then. CMD (talk) 10:48, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
:::A separate History of Dili article sounds like a good idea. You might want to look for ideas in articles about the history of other capital cities in the region (eg History of Jakarta ↗, History of Manila ↗). The Chega! and Museum articles would provide you with some cultural content to summarise in the Dili article. I will give them priority. Another culture-related article I plan to create soon is {{ill|Xanana Gusmão Reading Room|de|Xanana Reading Room}} - the majority of the photos in the German language version were taken by me. Culture is a little difficult to write about in relation to impoverished countries like East Timor - western style cultural institutions are often beyond their means, and reliable sources about more mundane forms of culture are not necessarily easy to find. As for the opening date, I've seen both April and May. We probably won't know for sure until the Government website announces the opening ceremony. Bahnfrend (talk) 01:40, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
::::Thanks, I will look into the articles you mention. I had some trouble with history in that there do not appear to be histories of the city disentangled from the history of the entire country, although I managed to find some useful things in the end. To be more comprehensive, I suspect there is a need to look into detailed East Timorese history sources and pull the relevant tidbits (at which point one might as well improve History of East Timor ↗, which is a substantial task). I agree on reliable sources being hard to find. That said, there is some info elsewhere in the article that might also fit within Culture (eg. sacred sites in Buildings section, urban gangs in Demographics). Fantastic work by the way on Tibar Bay ↗. If you are creating similar articles of that quality, please consider nominating them for WP:DYK ↗ within a week of creation (or I would be happy to nominate for you). Statistical tables on cricket articles

Hello. I notice your revert. There is a consensus for the removal of tables such as the one you reverted. There was a discussion some time ago at the cricket wiki project and, iirc, that was encoded at WP:CRICSTYLE ↗ - although I may be wrong about the last part. I'll try and find the discussion at the wiki project in a moment, but I know it'll be buried in the archives. It was caused by some very disruptive editing where an awful lot of statistical cruft tables were being added - essentially copied from CricInfo database searches.

Let me get back to you with the link in a moment or three. Blue Square Thing (talk) 09:22, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

:It never got added to CRICSTYLE, but the RfC(s) from 2017/18 are at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cricket/Archive 84 ↗. Note that the lack of context is the key. In the case of the tables I removed, there is absolutely no context whatsoever. A section where the centuries are introduced with references and some prose discussion above tables like this might mean that the section were appropriate - although in a number of cases where there are a very small number of centuries it's obviously easier to deal with the content as prose only.

:In the case you've reverted, there are also substantial issues with WP:OLINK ↗ and the use of flags. I'd also argue that forcing column widths is unnecessary and that this creates accessibility problems for users with different screen sizes. Personally I'd remove the match number as I don't think it adds any context and I'd replace the hash with No. because that's more universally understood. I'd probably choose to combine the venue and city tables in one if I'm honest - that way, for example, you can just say Adelaide Oval when it's appropriate (i.e. no need for Adelaide Oval, Adelaide) etc...

:The RfC I've cited is quite old now of course. You might want to open a new discussion at the cricket wikiproject. It's not a bad idea to do that really - a lot of things have changed in the past 5 years in the ways in which wikipedia and the cricket project work. Blue Square Thing (talk) 09:34, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

::I'm really rather disappointed - and actually quite hurt - by your characterisation of the paragraph above as "demanding" that this issue be taken to the wiki project. I know it can be really difficult to read nuance in text-on communication, but I'm honestly not sure where you see that as demanding. Don't feel that you need to reply to this: I'm simply pointing out that it was a suggestion; the intention was to see if there was a case for changing the way we approach such things, although I suppose I didn't make that overtly clear. Blue Square Thing (talk) 10:13, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
:::No you didn't. Instead, you restored two of your own deletions that had been reverted a total of three different times by two different other editors. Your stated rationale was a misrepresentation of the outcome of a discussion that had been closed as "no consensus". If that's not an implied demand on your part, then I don't know what would be. Bahnfrend (talk) 12:17, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
::::Well I'm really sorry you feel that way. I'll stop watching this page now so if you do reply here and expect a response from me please ping me. Blue Square Thing (talk) 13:05, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

Issy Wong family

I've started a discussion at Talk:Issy Wong ↗ about this. But the sources don't look reliable, and don't actually mention Wong at all. In my view, that means they shouldn't be used to verify someone as a relative of Wong, because at best it's WP:SYNTH ↗. <b style="color:#0033ab">Joseph</b><b style="color:#000000">2302</b> (talk) 13:37, 27 June 2022 (UTC)

Argh

The melanesia/et=y still is around like a smelly item of offal - do you think there is ever likely to be a point of resolution (knowing full well that a random genius from perspectives other than ours may well claim authority from a hollow echo chamber and reverse attempts to resolve)

geology/bioregion/ wallace line or whatever - if there was a definitive thing it might... but even oceans are not easily determined (vis a vis the bass strait being in the indian/southern or other oceans for instance as an unresolved against various sources.. (Bazonka has gone quiet in this area unfortunately) ) - I know we have breached this particular barrier to some sense of sanity in the et tags before, perhaps the answer lies in the goon show aphorisms about conversing with the trees, or should that be eliminating into the breeze, it all feels like a sense of the geophysicist I once knew who used to say ''pick a number, any number'' when resolving complex oil reservoir surveying problems... JarrahTree 07:14, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

:I'm happy to go with what Wikipedia indicates in its Melanesia ↗ article, ie the controversy is, relevantly, over whether the island of New Guinea is included; islands further west, such as Timor, are not. Bahnfrend (talk) 07:24, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
::In that case, if I read it right, then items about East Timorese rivers in effect are not Melanesia/ET=y bound then? Exterminate (per daleks) then is permittable... JarrahTree 07:32, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
:::I'm surprised the Melanesia article is so limited. The concept is often extended west, both Indonesia and East Timor have sought status in the Melanesian Spearhead Group ↗ in recognition of shared cultural affiliation, for example. Not sure it is a vitally important question for rivers though. CMD (talk) 08:16, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
:::: Always good to have other points of view - the rivers example is simply that an example - I am using as a position from way back, maybe ten years and more where there were in some cases extended conversations that were establishing senses of where the various things started and ended - for instance the Indian and Pacific oceans and Indonesia between the two - not just the IMO but also the biologists, anthropologists and others determinations of things such as the wallace line and others in relation to separation of oceania/southeast asia for instance -

:::::I had simply (not with handbooks/good reliable sources to hand) wondered out loud where the delightful conversations about the larger designations that have been used in the last hundred years or so - maritime southeast asia, and all the rest...

::::::Bahfrend and I have had to endure each other's ideas on this in real life conversations, it arose because I was looking at some of the articles he has improved - including the east timor river articles... All in good faith, and in my case elements of hyperbole and not necessarily plotting a big change anywhere, more a sense of curiosity as to what way the wind blows... JarrahTree 08:28, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
:::::::Aspirations on the part of Indonesian provinces and government agencies to identify with the Melanesian cultural domain was so far from my original point in this, I simply was trying to think about what might have been identification markers that have been used in the past - biology, blood types/malaria resistance, geology, geography, items that are not necessarily endured in political hopes but things that may have delineated by strange arrays of physical identifiers of difference... JarrahTree 08:40, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
::::::::Indonesia and East Timor are in very different positions in relation to Melanesia. At least for the time being, Indonesia includes the western side of the island of New Guinea, which, as the Melanesia article indicates, is now generally regarded as being part of Melanesia. That would explain why Indonesia is an associated member of the Melanesian Spearhead Group, whereas East Timor is only an observer. Bahnfrend (talk) 06:49, 1 July 2022 (UTC)

Kathryn Bryce

Hi - thanks for all your work on expanding Kathryn Bryce's page, but just wanted to flag something - I see you've just edited her infobox and domestic cricket section to show that she only played for Warwickshire in 2017, and Scotland in 2018 and 2019. I'm pretty sure this isn't correct - CricketArchive shows her playing for Warwickshire in the County Championship only in 2018 (one match) and 2019 (seven matches) - not sure if you have access to CricketArchive though. Not sure if this is down to Play-Cricket doing something weird, that site isn't the easiest to navigate at all! But she's definitely playing for Warwickshire here ↗ in 2019, and in other matches. Anyway, I just wanted to flag this on your talk page rather than attempting to directly sort it on the article, as I feel that might get a bit edit war-y if we're both working off different sources. Hopefully we can figure something out! Mpk662 (talk) 16:56, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
:{{ping|Mpk662}} Thanks for the heads up. I'm not very familiar with Play-Cricket, and for financial reasons I don't (presently) have access to CricketArchive. I've made appropriate amendments. Feel free to fill in the details about her Warwickshire appearances in 2018 and 2019 - I assume that she was concentrating on her University course in the former year. FYI (ICYHN), I'm now upgrading Sarah Bryce ↗. Bahnfrend (talk) 04:19, 29 April 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for your revert of St John's Anglican Church, Albany ↗. I don't want to make a big issue of it and, in the context of things, it's relatively minor. However, I'm not too sure that your approach is correct. In my read of WP:SFN ↗, ''notes'' are used where either:
They don't apply in the instance of the this article, as the WP:Bibliography ↗ below provides additional information that are not citations - in effect, a WP:Further reading ↗ section. Article about the Moscow tramway network

Hello! Nice to meet you.
I just discovered that you are you are the creator of the article about the Moscow tram. I appreciate your work. I'm aslo interested in this topic. Also, i have some questions for you:
1) How can you came to the idea of creating this page back in 2011?
2) How many times you've been in Moscow?
3) What was your first impression of the Moscow trams?
I will be glad to hear from you! Fanatila (talk) 15:01, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

:{{ping|Fanatila}} Thanks for your query. Sorry for the slow response. I created the article a long time ago now. I have an even longer term interest in trams (although we haven't had any of them in my home city, Perth ↗, Western Australia, in my lifetime - maybe that explains my interest). I had also visited Russia, including Moscow, in 2006 (that was my only visit, and my memory of the trams there is a bit hazy now). Most importantly, I found out that the Moscow network was the fourth largest in the world, but that there wasn't yet any English Wikipedia article about it. So I created one, with the assistance of Google translate (I can't speak or read Russian, but Google translate is quite good at translating it into English). Looking at the edit history of that article, it seems that I intended to do more work on it, but never got around to it. Too many other things on my mind, I guess. BTW, I also created quite a lot of other articles about tram networks and trolleybus systems (eg Trams in Lisbon ↗, also in 2011 (I note that I have contributed more than once to that one, although, again, not as much as I originally intended)). I hope that that satisfies your curiosity. Bahnfrend (talk) 12:47, 23 July 2024 (UTC)

If you feel so strongly about creating new embassy articles from foreign language versions, why didn't you do it? I would not do it as I have no knowledge of the origin languages and relying on Google translate is not accurate. LibStar (talk) 23:44, 29 September 2024 (UTC)

:Tagging @Gonnym, as they were part of the conversation. LibStar (talk) 23:45, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
:I posted to oppose deletion of the navboxes because they have links to more than just one article. The fact that not all of the articles are in English is simply not relevant - Wikipedia is an international multilingual activity. I am not in a position to create a new embassy article at the moment, because I have other things to do, including offline. There is no deadline for any Wikipedia article. For as long as the navboxes are still in existence, anyone wanting to read something in English about the relevant embassies can just click on the interlanguage link and use Google translate to translate an approximation of it. Further, anyone interested in creating an article can find its foreign language equivalent more easily while the navboxes still exist. That's why there's an interlanguage links template on English Wikipedia. As for translations, for the record I have created literally hundreds of English Wikipedia articles by translating them from other languages with assistance from Google Translate. It is not difficult to do, even with articles in languages I can neither speak nor read without Google Translate - I have occasionally received compliments from native speakers about the quality of such translations. Bahnfrend (talk) 14:13, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
::"I have occasionally received compliments from native speakers about the quality of such translations" Perhaps you are then best placed to create new embassy articles translated from foreign language articles. LibStar (talk) 23:19, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
:::Maybe, but not right now. I'll put them on my (very long) to do list. Bahnfrend (talk) 05:13, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this '''anonymous survey ↗'''.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page ↗ and view its privacy statement ↗ .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team ↗

Reminder to participate in Wikipedia research

Hello,

I recently invited you to take a survey about administration on Wikipedia. If you haven’t yet had a chance, there is still time to participate– we’d truly appreciate your feedback. The survey is anonymous and should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page ↗ and view its privacy statement ↗.

Take the survey '''here ↗'''.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team ↗

Non-attributed translations

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from :de:Osttimoresisch-russische_Beziehungen ↗ to :East Timor–Russia relations ↗. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing ↗ '''requires that you provide attribution''' to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an '''edit summary ↗''' on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking ↗ it to the source page. Sample wording for this is given here ↗. If you forgot, or were not aware of this requirement, attribution '''must be given retroactively ↗''', for example:
: <code><nowiki>NOTE: Content in the edit of 01:25, January 25, 2023 was translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at :fr:Exact name of French article ↗; see its history for attribution.</nowiki></code>
Retroactive attribution may be added using a dummy edit ↗; see Repairing insufficient attribution ↗.
It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{tl|translated page}} template on the talk page of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, you must add attribution retrospectively ↗, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia ↗. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-translation --> Vanderwaalforces (talk) 12:13, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

Ellyse Perry

Hi Bahnfrend I Just saw you thought my wasn't a good enough image. Oh well, there's nothing wrong with that thought. I did try to take better pictures, and I do have some pictures of the game itself. I can upload a picture of her number Servite et contribuere (talk) 09:15, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
:{{ping|Servite et contribuere}} The Perry bio already has more photos than usual for a women's cricket bio, and your photo is really more a photo of the match or the stadium than the player. Yes, please upload the image of her number, and send me a link to it (the link should be in the format <nowiki>[[:File:[name of file].jpg]]</nowiki>, ie with a colon between the "" and the "File"). Also, if you have (a) photo(s) of any of the matches showing players' faces, you might want to add one or more of them to the article [[2024–25 Women's Ashes series ↗ (alternatively, send me (a) link(s) to it/them, and I could add them for you). Bahnfrend (talk) 12:26, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
::@Bahnfrend Thanks for your reply. First of all, I would like to say that I don't think Cricketers should have more or less photos based on their gender. Second of all here is the picture I took: thumb ↗
::Please take a moment to rate it, and tell me the good things and bat things about it. Thank you Servite et contribuere (talk) 17:35, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
:::{{ping|Servite et contribuere}} That's good. I've added an electronically cropped version of it to the Perry bio article. The crop focuses on the No 8 shirt, which is the encyclopedically interesting thing about the photo. Once some more text has been added for 2024 and beyond, the photo can be moved down a bit, to line up with the text on the 2024–25 Ashes. I agree with your comment about gender. In fact, at least in the past it's been easier to take photos of professional women's cricket than prof men's cricket, because rules on taking photos at matches have been more strictly enforced at men's matches. That's why a lot of men's cricket bios have few or no photos, whereas prominent current women cricketers usually have at least one (often taken by me, eg at the WACA during the 2020 WT20I World Cup). Taking good photos at cricket matches is also tricky because ideally you need a 500 mm lens (the longest I've ever had is only 300 mm - buying a 500 mm lens is on my 'to do' list). Anyway, it's good to know there's someone in Sydney who likes to photograph women's cricket, including at North Sydney Oval (one of my favourite cricket grounds). I'd encourage you to photograph WBBL matches as well. Keep up the good work. Bahnfrend (talk) 07:42, 7 February 2025 (UTC)

Sporting nationality

Could you make sure that the tables in the number of articles that you've reverted my edits on:

#meet MOS:SPORTFLAG ↗ – specifically I think you'll need to add some text somewhere to make it clear that nationality is sporting nationality. I'd suggest doing this in the tooltip as you also seem keen on abbreviating nationality, in my view unnecessarily;
#find a way to keep to the second paragraph of MOS:WORDPRECEDENCE ↗. I'd suggest adding a three letter abbreviation as association football articles do at least. Just using the flag by itself is, in my view, a significant issue for a number of the reasons laid out at MOS:FLAGS ↗ and general accessibility issues. It shouldn't take much to do this as a compromise, but I'll leave it to you to do so
#find a way to deal with all the misleading links to England. The WIN flag goes to CWI, so that works. Not sure where an Irish one would link to, but it could probably be made to work. But an English one simply going to England is not really OK

There are, of course, a whole pile of extra MOS issues with the tables and with lots of the BBL articles in general that need dealing with – spare capital letters and so on. Good luck Blue Square Thing (talk) 08:29, 26 August 2025 (UTC)

Timor-Leste 25

Hi Bahnfrend, we previously discussed some Timor-Leste articles that were lacking. I recently had mixed but overall positive success in putting together a Papua New Guinea-related main page to mark the 50th anniversary of independence. Timor-Leste made a lot of the 25th anniversary of the referendum last year, so I expect they will make something of the 25th anniversary of independence on 20 May 2027. Doing the same here might bring more editorial attention, at the least it'll put something on the main page.{{pb}}I realise this is one and a half years into the future, but I did Papua New Guinea in 3 months (if I remember correctly) and that was enough to do a lot but perhaps not as much as could have been done. Doing some quick scoping, there are no Timor-Leste related FAs that have not already run at TFA, no FPs that have not already run at POTD (and all existing FPs are wildlife), and there is not a single Timor-Leste related FL. East Timor independence ↗ will need to be cleaned up for OTD. Preparing articles for DYK is a bit easier as the timing is controlled, but 8-16 articles (one or two sets) will need some preparing in the event that not many want to contribute. They will also need to be ideally from a diverse range of topics, and have image and quirky options, which adds a bit to planning. Further overall, there is a need to make sure the 2-3 pictures are distinct, the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing had some issues there.{{pb}}Consensus would have to be found within each of these processes as well. That's easy enough for TFA/POTD/TFL if there is substantial time in advance. OTD is mostly self-guided, it is up to editors to be individually responsible. DYK will need broader consensus, but they would probably be open to it if discussed much closer to the date. Anyway, that is the vague roadmap I have so far. If you have editing plans in mind, perhaps they would fit into this sort of thing. CMD (talk) 04:13, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
:{{ping|Chipmunkdavis}} Thanks for your message. Sorry for the slow response. I agree with your proposal. You might want to consider nominating for FA or A status one or more of the articles about rivers ↗ I've recently upgraded - eg Comoro River ↗ (flows through Dili) or North Laclo River ↗ (the longest in the country). My other recent upgrades include Ombai Strait ↗ and Wetar Strait ↗, which could possibly also be nominated, and also (with a very different focus) Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport ↗ and Bacau Airport ↗. Atm, I'm concentrating on uploading to Commons a large number of photos of various non-Timor-Leste topics, including some old photos dating back to 2006. However, I intend to return to Wikipedia articles about Timor-Leste topics eventually. My to-do list includes articles about the current Ministers, and upgrading the articles about the Municipalities and Ira Lalaro ↗. I also intend to improve the content about the National Parliament ↗ in the not too distant future, and I think that substantial improvements should also be made to the articles about the various Presidents ↗ and Prime Ministers ↗, especially Rui Maria de Araújo ↗. If you have any suggestions as to any other broad topics I should be considering at this early stage, feel free to make them here. Bahnfrend (talk) 12:31, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
::Sadly FAC is not my strong point, it's not something I've managed before, so I'm not well-familiar with what makes something good to nominate. However, there is a long time period to figure it out. :::Same here. I've had some of my photos assessed as "Quality images", but such assessments are time consuming, and I prefer to devote my time to adding content. However, a 25th anniversary happens only once, and this one's still some time away. I'll probably turn my attention to Timor-Leste again about the beginning of 2026. Draft translated from Italian Wikipedia

Hello Bahnfrend,

I hope you are doing well. I noticed your contributions to the English Wikipedia, specifically regarding translations from Italian articles, as well as transport-related topics, and I thought you might be the right person to ask for some advice.

I have recently translated into English an article already published on the Italian and French Wikipedia about the “Passatore” sailboat (Draft:Passatore ↗).

I should note that I have a conflict of interest, as I am a board member of a sports association mentioned in the article. For this reason, I have only created a draft on the English Wikipedia and I am waiting for independent editors to review it and, if appropriate, publish it. I have contacted some relevant WikiProjects (Sailing, Engineering, Italy), but so far I have not received feedback.

If you have the time and interest, I would be very grateful if you could take a look at the draft and let me know whether you think it meets the standards for publication, or if there is anything that should be improved. Of course, there is absolutely no rush.

Thank you very much for your time, and for the work you already do on the encyclopedia. Palco10 (talk) 11:47, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
:{{ping|Palco10}} Thanks for your message. I'm very happy to assist any editor, especially with a translation into English of an article on another language's Wikipedia (or other languages' Wikipedias). Only problem is that I would need to become a New Page Reviewer, which may take at least a few days. I'll post another message here if and when I receive approval to be an NPR.

:Your conflict of interest is not a problem, as you've already declared it on the draft Passatore article talk page.

:I note that some of the paragraphs of the draft article do not presently have at least one inline citation. I know that this is an issue with translating Italian or French Wikipedia articles, as those two Wikipedias are less strict than English Wikipedia about including such citations. If you are able to add inline citations to those paragraphs, it would be helpful if you did so. Otherwise, a possible solution might be to omit the paragraphs that have no such citations. If your sports association has access, maybe through a library in Italy, to the Italian language books in the References section, some of the pages in those books might be suitable sources of the missing inline citations. Bahnfrend (talk) 15:23, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
::Dear @Bahnfrend, thank you very much for your interest and your message.
::Following your kind directions, I reviewed the notes and now each paragraph has its own inline citation.
::As you suggested, I verified on the books mentioned in the Reference section, and they contain all information needed to support each paragraph.
::Thank you again for your time and support.
::Best regards, Palco10 (talk) 11:24, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
:::{{ping|Palco10}} Great. I've received approval to be an NPR. So I'll now have to have a look at how to do the review job, and also at a few existing articles to get a better idea of what's required of this type of article. I can then probably look at your draft by about this coming weekend. Bahnfrend (talk) 14:59, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
::::@BahnfrendThank you very much indeed!!
::::Please let me know in case of any questions.
::::In the meanwhile, thank you again for your work and your support on this topic.
::::Best regards, Palco10 (talk) 15:58, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
::::Dear @Bahnfrend,
::::I just wanted to let you know that in the meanwhile the article on Passatore was published on the mainspace.
::::Of course, you are always more than welcome to suggest or make improvements.
::::Thank you again for your committment to Wikipedia and your help on this topic! Palco10 (talk) 10:21, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
